Came here by way of my brother to rent some ski boots for an Easter weekend ski trip to Lake Louise and Marmot. The young lads working here sure know what they were doing. Also did an adjustment on my skis to fit the boots and adjusted the break free based on my height and weight. Service was top notch and in and out quick. *mask wearing was respected bully all during this COVID timeframe. Don't rent from here. When you return your skis they are extremely stingy. They will examine your skis for any sign of imperfection and charge you extra for anything they can think of. I was charged $60. My friend had minor scratches and was charged $30. The only way we could have avoided charges was if we hadn't used the skis. read more

This is the only place we rent skis whenever we head to the mountains. They always have supply so we've never been turned away, and they're fast, efficient and friendly. Also, I find their prices are the best, especially for multiple day rentals. I believe they have pretty high quality equipment, too, but that's not really my area of expertise - I'm a casual skier at best. This is great sports equipment rental shop, conveniently located on the Trans-Canada as you head out of the city towards the mountains. Especially convenient are their Winter hours (6am-10pm), so you can pick up skis on you way out if town on an impromptu trip, and return the same night. They are well staffed, well stocked, and get you out of there on no time. I've rented skis, skates, and rafting equipment and never had any issues with check out or return equipment condition. The prices are cheaper than renting at the hill for sure, but often more than the U of C Outdoor Centre. The Entertainment Guide coupons and the convenience of this spot keeps me coming back despite my Scroogely ways. Also, keep an eye out for end of season sales on the equipment...good deals to be had! read more

I was in town on business for a couple of weeks, and really wanted to do some riding. I stopped in and within 10 minutes had loaded a brand new mountain bike into the truck, and was heading for the trails. The rental for a week was very reasonable, and with a new bike, it was a wonderful deal. Brian, the store owner charges me the full $100 deposit and accused me of going behind the counter to take a new bike instead of a rental last weekend. I used to be a happy customer renting from this store for years and having spent over $1500 in gear and rentals until last weekend when I asked to rent a mountain bike for 3 days. The staff technician brings out the bike and signs off the bike. The owner was not at the store when I rented out or returned the bike. After I returned the bike the owner called me up and accused me that I took the bike behind the counter and I am being charged the full deposit for $100 for some scratches sustained during transportation. He said that the bike was tagged "for sale" and "new". There was no label to indicate either "for sale" or "new". After trying to settle the matter unsuccessfully with Brian over 3 phone calls, the owner wanted me to buy this mountain bike with the $100 discount off the wholesale price. I said I was in the market for a used bike but the purchase price for the bike was outside my price range. On principle of having been falsely accused of being in the wrong, I declined. I would like to continue to use their services but the owner was really rude this time. I'll spend my money elsewhere Update: the owner calls me up again after he saw this post. He said he'll keep the $50 and give me a $50 credit towards the purchase of a new bike of my choice. read more

Rented some x-country ski's for the family. Equipment was good quality, friendly service on pick up. Due to cold weather we decided to drop the skis back a day early. The server at the returns counter only offered an in store credit for the difference. I explained that we didn't know when we would be renting equipment again and would prefer a refund of the difference. The server then proceeded to get all pissy. Ushering me over to one of the registers and throwing my card across the counter when finished processing. Really poor service guys. We won't be back!!! read more

I started skiing again after over 20 years. I rented from Brian and he and his staff were fantastic. I ended up buying some older used skis from Brian at the end of the year. They were in fantastic shape. I still use Sports Rent for tune-ups and would highly recommend them read more

A very poor choice for renting women's ski equipment. We rented the "performance" skis for a week for my wife and teenage daughters. The selection of skis available for women was poor compared to what they had for men. The first real issue is that all of the boots are men's boots. This resulted in a poor fit that led to very severe shin pain over the course of the week and made it difficult for the girls to ski. Second issue is that I don't believe the technician set bindings appropriately. They were so loose that the skis fell off over the course of normal skiing. While my wife was making an unexceptional turn in a few inches of powder, a ski came off for no apparent reason. Because the ski came off at the wrong time unexpectedly, she ended up with a bad knee injury. There was no explanation for why the ski should have come off other than poor equipment or binding settings. My 15 year old's skis also fell off a few times under the course of normal skiing. I adjusted them myself to correct the issue and noted the settings were inconsistent between the skis. I have rented skis at many locations over the course of my life and have never been this dissatisfied. read more

Years ago I rented a rubber raft and was planning on going fishing in BC with some friends. a few days before I was supposed to go on the trip, my Mom died suddenly without warning. Sports Rent wouldn't give a refund, a credit, or even a something like 50% off my next rental (hell, even 10% off my next rental), because they said business was business. At that time, there was no Yelp to post reviews, but now there is. So Sports Rent, thanks for the compassion, your business is shitty! It was never about the lousy $200.00 it cost me, it was about they way you treated someone who had suffered the biggest loss of their life. I hope you go bankrupt. Will never go back despite having dropped a thousand or more there over the years. Read your contract very carefully and be fully prepared to pay exorbitantly if you damage their gear. I don't mind paying for damage, but what they charged is ridiculous. $750.00 for a damaged ski edge. Plus the cost of the rental. Stay away! read more
