I spent the last month researching all things mountain bikes - I bought my last bike in 2001... it's been quite the learning curve. Bikes are in limited supply in Calgary, and some shops are using the global scarcity as a way to pressure a purchase, or at the least, get a 30% deposit. I restarted my search a month ago, beginning at Pure. Great experience. I demoed a couple different bikes. Then, I demoed two more bikes at CC Bow Trail (not so positive - more interested in making a sale than helping me), and then another demo at a Bowness shop (very positive experience). Yesterday, having narrowed down my search, I went back into Pure. Coming in at 5:30pm (they close at 6pm) didn't phase them. Cole was the sales rep and treated me great, as did other guys who helped me choose some pedals. The store was closing, and here Cole is offering me a demo ride. Even though I was somewhat certain about my purchase, Cole never once rushed me or the sale. It was around 6:30pm when I paid for the bike - 30min past closing. Big thanks to the guys at CC Pure. Helpful, patient, kind... and one happy customer with a new Santa Cruz Bronson + new set of clip-in pedals. Sincere gratitude for all the help.

We were immediately drawn to Laurie and her amazing customer service. She was very understanding of our time constraints and provided us with a map and key spots to visit while we were riding bikes along the Bow River. Unfortunately, 15 minutes after we left on our bikes, we were stuck in a terrential downpour. We ended up stranded at a restaurant until we decided to brave the rain and return the bikes. Laurie offered to let us make up our time if we came back on Sunday. We did just that! We had a great ride and really enjoyed being able to see more of the city by bicycle. We would highly recommend Rath Bicycle!!

WARNING: Be careful of what you are buying here. I bought a bike (over $7k) only to get home and…read morerealize there is damage to it that I didn't spot initially. When trying to register the bike the serial number didn't match with the components. Bow had no explanation and agreed to correct the issues. Then they slipped me lesser major components that that I didn't realize until several months later. Their reasoning is that the manufacturer has a clause of "PLEASE NOTE THAT, BASED ON COMPONENT AVAILABILITY AND OTHER FACTORS, SPECIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE". This was for parts that are listed as "highlights" of the bike. The parts replaced are $590 less costly. To make matters worse, Bow tells me that I should take it up with the manufacturer. As the authorized reseller I would expect them to represent the manufacturer and go to bat for the customer. The problem is that they messed up the bike in the first place and pieced it back together on their own after getting caught. This was my experience. I should have listened to friends whom had talked about their bad reputation before. Mileage and frustrations may be different for you.

Sadly, I was forced to go there for a specific product that was out of stock elsewhere in the city. Worst bike shop in Calgary in my opinion. I would recommend The Bike Shop, Ridley's, Bow Cycle, and Bike & Brew if you want friendly, knowledgeable staff. Many years ago, Sean, the owner of BikeBike and I were on a group ride together and we had a conversation about a bike I purchased from his shop. I mentioned that I hadn't brought it back for the first complimentary tune up yet but well over a year expired since I purchased the bike. Sean told me that it was no problem and that he'd still tune it up for me free of charge. I brought the bike in a few days later and he tried to charge me for the tune up. I remined him of the conversation that happened a few days earlier but he denied the conversation ever happened. I don't think you'll see me in 8 years Sean. I do know that anyone with a set of ears will hear about the crappy service that I received 8 years ago as well as last week.

Within a few months there was a recall advising the bike was not to be ridden. I asked for a refund or replacement and I willing to take a loss from or some assistance they simply said not our problem call Specialized. They are quick to take your money not so quick to stand by what they sell. My wife has an electric bike she cannot ride until Specialized figures out a solution. We are now one year in without a bike. I am calling Specialized and considering legal action against the Bikeshop. Buy your bike anywhere but the Bikeshop.

After returning home, I checked the tires and thought that Ridleys had forgotten to make them tubeless. Greg made arrangements for me to get the work done locally. As it turned out, they were tubeless. Greg went out of his way to send me out the door as a satisfied customer. I recommend this store if you are looking to make a purchase. Sometimes it is hard to find businesses that truly want to see their customers satisfied and to be a return customer. I will be a return customer. I am just sorry for having wasted their time on my error.
