THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU'll EVER EXPERIENCE! my scooter was dropped off at the beginning of May. despite plenty of calls and emails, we never heard from them until mid-July, when they asked what scooter we even had there. when we told them, they never responded. i go in person to ask about it, as I'm moving out of the state in a week, and was told "we took a couple preliminary looks at it but never set aside the time to work on it." 3 months, and never set aside the time to look at it. i asked if they would, was told no. i asked why they couldn't have called and said they weren't fixing it, and he said "I guess we could have." I would never ever recommend this trash service to anyone. The employees are beyond entitled and rude, and as stated, they apparently just simply don't fix scooters brought to them and don't tell their customers they aren't planning on it. read more

My 2014 scooter sat through a couple of winter seasons and I couldn't get it to start. I called Sportique Scooter during this crazy COVID time (no better time to whip the scooter back out) and they immediately jumped on board to help bring her back to life. JP went out of his way driving 25 minutes to come pick the scooter up from my driveway (no contact policy followed), and within 24 hours, she was alive! Not only does she run flawlessly now, but the total bill was much, much cheaper than other shops would have charged. As an unexpected bonus, they even gave a 75% off discount for the pickup from my house, given the importance of the no contact policy right now and their loyalty to the community. Lloyd provided 5-star customer service as well, answering my operator-related questions and providing much needed guidance. I bought a 50cc Genuine Roughhouse from these guys a month or two back and have been loving my bike. This past weekend, I hopped on the bike ready for a ride during the best day in Boulder in months and I can't get the engine to start. I try everything and finally call Sportique to get their input. They walk me through everything they could over the phone and nothing works. After coming back inside, thinking my day of errands is ruined, I get a call from Sportique with one of their technicians saying he'll be over in 5 minutes with a bag of tools. Thirty minutes later, the bike was running perfectly! Absolutely first class service from the folks over at Sportique Scooters and would for sure buy from them again. read more

Bought my moped from here 2 years ago and have constantly had trouble since. After not being able to start my moped Sportique picked it up and "repaired the problem". On my way home from the shop after picking it up it died in the middle of the road and i had to push it home. Sportique had to pick it up for a second time to solve the problem again. I brought my scooter into Sportique after waiting 2 weeks for a tune-up appointment... The guy at the desk was very unpleasant to talk with and right off the bat told me my TGB (Taiwan Golden Bee) scooter was basically Chinese crap (it's most definitely not, it had run flawlessly for 14k+ miles, any research will speak highly of TGB quality and furthermore TGB makes critical parts for Piaggio, SYM, Peugeot, Polaris, and more, in Taiwan). He also accused my last repair shop, which I actually USED TO WORK AT, of scamming me. Furthermore I've never even had to pay a dime at any shop until I got my scooter back but they wanted a $150 deposit for a $120 tune-up which makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Any semblance of good, friendly customer service was completely non-existent. He could have just smiled and kept his mouth shut but instead my visit was quickly turned into an unpleasant debate. I can't speak for the quality of their mechanics because I am taking my business elsewhere. Also their scooters seem to be priced up to twice their true market value. In a marketplace filled with MotorCycle / Scooter shoppes that employ the worst types of employees and policies, Sportique is a model for how shoppes need to be. All three employees are earnest, down-to-Earth and honest guys. They're just as likely to talk about scooters as anything else in your day. Not one of them pushing a sale or making you uncomfortable about being in the shoppe. Their knowledge of scooters and the market is beyond expansive. Every time I talk to them I'm thoroughly impressed with their level of detailed information. Their service prices are also quite fair and I wouldn't let any other place touch my scooter. I wanted a red Vespa Primavera 50cc, I really found them aesthetically pleasing and Sportique Scooters had the exact one I wanted. I came in, spoke to JP, and he showed me the NIU MQI and NQI GT's. He explained that they were electric, and would get me 45mph, (I get up to 50 on it sometimes on an incline), rather than the 30mph I am going to average on the Vespa. The NIU's still count as "50cc/low wattage" scooters, and do not need a license plate, can go in the bike lane, etc... I picked up the MQI GT a couple of days later, and he was absolutely right! When I am able to go the speed of traffic on country roads in East Boulder County, where I live, it is a win. I having also never ridden a motorized cycle before, JP was patient in making sure I understood the basics. Of course, nothing prepared me for the torrential rains, hail and flash flooding I encountered on the ride home to Lafayette from the shop, but c'est la vie! Straightening by fire, or in this case, water. In any case, I love my NIU scooter, they got me on it, and Sportique the only place in CO that you can even get a NIU scooter. read more

I couldn't believe how rude one of the guys working here was. I came in with a Chinese moped that I had just purchased on Craigslist that needed a minor fix and not only did this guy insult and question my intellect buying a Chinese scooter, he told me to "get that thing out of his sight." I never leave bad reviews, especially for local shops, but this guy was just so rude I couldn't help but throw in my two cents. He could have just said "we don't work on Chinese scooters" instead of literally choosing to invective me. There was one older guy that was friendly and apologized on behalf of his co-workers behavior and tone, but regardless of one friendly staff member, I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere. read more

I'll break the review down into a business and personal experience: Personal level: Mike: To those who wants the typical salesman bullshitter to serve you, Mike is not the person to go to. If you get to know him better, he is a very good and nice person. He is just very mellow and easily misunderstood as a rude / not passionate person. Treat him well and you'll see he'll go above and beyond for you. In fact, he is one of the most knowledgable mechanics at the shop. JC: The one thing you'll notice if you are smart enough is that Sportique as a business is very lucky to have a very loyal employee such as him. But that doesn't mean that he'll just sell you as much as he can. He knows when it is fair to charge extra for something and when it's not and he'll take control of it and make the transaction fair to both the business and customers. Business level: Unlike the big chain stores, a lot of the people working at this shop are just scooter lovers who turned their passion into a business. Thus they know which are good brands, good upgrades, good set up for Colorado gears, etc. They only use top end brands to upgrade your bike and top end oils and set ups. Which actually turn them into more of a niche / specialized market in the scooter business. From what I see they don't carry Chinese crap scooters. Most are Italian or REAL Taiwanese and those are the top brands you can get for scooters. About chinese scooters... they are crap, this includes the "Golden Bee". They may be Taiwan marked, but they are actually built in China and exported through Taiwan.! And they are crap because they cut corners in their components. Sportique Boulder deals with scooters that are extra the cost but you get what you pay for and you'll save money in the long run with very little trouble in terms of scooter parts. Treat the business like a friend / community type business and you'll see their warmth. If you want the typical corporate BS who just wants to sell you anything, there's plenty of other places to go to. IE: Walmart. About me: I'm a business owner and I'm also involved with charity organizations here in Denver, thus I deal with people on daily basis. I wrote this review not based on the company as a whole, but based on the people that have served me, not once, but in multiple occasions, thus I look for consistency, honesty and knowledge. All sales people are nice when you are looking for scooters, but after purchasing one, things change. When I bought my scooter, I inquired about the windshield that I saw online at the manufacturer's website. They said it didn't come with it. After calling Aprilia to make sure that the scooter comes with the windshield I went back to Sportique. Now they were willing to order it and said it would take one, maximum two weeks to get it. Two weeks later I called them. The windshield is not there yet and they don't know when they will get it. Could be weeks. They did not offer to call Aprilia to find out. My wife and I also purchased helmets and a screen for one of them. We noticed a line going through the screen which makes things blurry. We wanted to return it but Sportique said they can't take it back because we used it once. I understand that they can't resell it, but I am sure they could return it to the manufacturer. Last but not least, Sportique adds dealer fees and shipping fees to the MSRP which can be close to $1,000 addtitional! When you ask if they can lower the price they will tell you that this is how they make their living and that there is nothing they can do. Not true. Check out Colorado Powersports on 55th in Boulder. They are willing to sell at or close to MSRP. If you are looking for SYM scooter go there. Sportique will tell you that there is nothing they can do about their price, while CO Pwrsports will lower their prices. If you are planning to buy a scooter from Sportique, make sure that they deliver everything that is included or you might get surprised. To be continued. read more

Ok, so I have the low-down now, having gone back to reconsider a scooter. They do include fees in their price, and that is why the MSRP price is a few hundred dollars below their asking price. That being said, they charge tax on their asking price, even though they include fees like labor, handling, etc in the price. When I brought this to their attention, the employees looked confused, then haltingly replied that no one had ever brought up this issue, and they suppose they can see what I mean... They then offered to drop the price down one hundred dollars and charge me tax on that.. which when doing the math out, still doesn't make up the difference they are erroneously collecting for the government... So I don't know. They are genuinely good people, and I think they are running a respectable, convenient, well-thought out service, but I'd bring up the tax issue if you're considering buying. It could save you a couple hundred dollars of over-taxation. read more

Make sure if you consign a scooter or motorcycle with Sportique, you cancel your tags and fill out the paperwork with the DMV. I sold a scooter here last summer and the buyer never registered it. Then I got a call from the police recently that my former scooter was abandoned on College Hill and it was still registered to me through the VIN. Sportique said they contacted the "kid" who bought it and told him to register the scooter, but he still has not. I have had nothing but phenomenal experiences with Sportique. I purchased a scooter there and have had work done on both my and my wife's scooters. The reviews that are bashing the mechanics don't know what they are talking about...these guys know their stuff. I have not only had very complicated work done, but have also had a completely new souped-up engine installed and numerous upgrades. The money for the work is more than worth it (finding people who are very knowledgeable on scooter specifically can be hard to come by). Mike at Sportique has made my little 50cc into a super fast, and very bad-ass scoot. He's awesome. Like i said, these guys know what they're doing and they are a local, family-owned business. I bought my Kymco People Scooter from Sportique several years ago and I have returned to the Boulder shop yearly for service, questions, and to buy more accessories for my People. I have always had excellent customer service and I am always very impressed with the knowledgeable staff and their enthusiasm for everything that has to do with scooters! What impresses me most about this shop, is how helpful they are even when they are not going to be making any money from me or sell me anything. The staff listens to my questions, make helpful suggestions, and always always always problem solve with me and get my scooter up and running perfectly after sitting in the garage all winter. The mechanics are all experts and know the scooters inside and out. I think these guys live and breath scooters, it is not just a 'job' for them. I gave my 1979 Vespa to Floyd Grimm (Atlanta) before he moved to Colorado and now I am giving it to my daughter in law and I am having it shipped to Floyd because over the years I TRUST FLOYD with my Vespa. My son is in the Navy and he is getting deployed...I told him he can trust while he is gone to look out for the best interests of the Vespa that will now belong to my daughter in law. I brought my scoots in for a tune up and ended spending $500 from all the problems they identified. I've been going to Sportique in Boulder since they opened the first store. I have no personal interest in their business. I just took my 2001 Vespa ET4 with over 13,000 miles on it to get some repairs and maintenance performed. I needed a rear brake issue and a speedo cable issue taken care of. It also needed a comprehensive tuneup. I did have to set my appointment about 5 five weeks in advance. The delay was my own fault as summer repairs are always backlogged for any motorcycle or scooter shop. Winter is the time for maintenance to be performed as any seasoned scooterist knows. Anyway, I arrived at 10 am and they helped me roll it off the trailer and get it into the shop. Around 2 pm the mechanic called and gave me an update on the state of repairs. He found additional items that needed to be taken care of. My front brake disk pads were completely worn out (I didn't know that since Malossi brake pads are high performance they wear out quickly) and and my front tire needed replacing too (Darn that Zippy tire). The mechanic worked with me on the skilled repairs he needed to perform and the ones I knew I could handle myself. He didn't charge for anything extra for the additional repairs other than the cost of the tire and brake pads since he already had the front tire off the scooter. I'll be changing that headlight myself. I found everyone from the front office to the mechanics to be helpful and knowledgeable about scooters. They helped me carefully load the scooter when I picked it up. I later found that the speedo cable still had issues when I got home. I called the next morning and they said bring it in now. I rode it to the shop and they got right to it. After I picked it up, they let me know they guarantee their repairs for 90 days. There was no extra charge for the followup visit. I didn't have to pay for repairs until I picked up my scooter. My scooters performance is back to normal and is a joy to ride. I have to say the people who complain about Sportique must be real scooter novices and don't know squat about their scooters or scooter maintenance. Put 6,000 miles on your scooter and then you'll start to understand what I'm talking about. A tip: run away from away motorcycle shop or auto repair shop that doesn't let you talk to the mechanic working on your vehicle. They have a wide range of new and used scooters. Prices depend upon scooter and condition. All are fairly priced. Boulder is not a inexpensive place to do business and they don't sell disposable mainland chinese crap. read more

I bought my People scooter from Sportique in 2009 and have had nothing but top-notch, amazing service from them since. When purchasing my scooter, they were incredibly helpful and took me through all the differences in the scooters and taught me how to be a safe rider. I think I got a phenomenal deal on my Scoot, helmet, Tune-up kit, and back trunk. I felt really well cared for. I've only had one problem with my scooter since buying it. I was having problems getting it to start and because the People scooters are so reliable, they hadn't seen the problem before, it took a little time and extra close attention from the team at Sportique but they figured it out. I was really pleased and pleasantly surprised with the amount they charged me for the amount of work they put into figuring out the problem. It was clear they they were determined to do a great job, and they did! I look forward to chatting with everyone on the staff when I'm in the shop. They always teach me more about my scooter and the best way to take care of it. I most appreciate that the guys let me ask "stupid mechanical questions" and always give me clear answer. I'm a 100% satisfied customer. I've driven scooters while in asia, and I can attest, not all scooters are created equal. I totally trust that Sportique only carries the best bikes around. read more

Wow! What a waste of time this place is. Had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment for a simple oil change! After them having my scooter all day, I was forced to cough up $54.00! I pay less for my SUV! Then when I made the comment, their response was, well, that's the cost. This was after they couldn't find my paperwork. After I paid, the guy just stood up to leave. I said, may I please have my keys. He said they are in the scooter. I said, okay, and where is my scooter. His response, in a very rude tone, outside with everyone else's (yeah, not apparent because they have about 30 scooters sitting outside and it was on the side of the building). Overall everyone was either rude or simply didn't care. I will never go back. Even talked a guy out of buying one of the scooters from them (he agreed and said he thought the prices were over-inflated based on his research). Find another place. New ownership has brought a new customer focus to Sportique Scooters in Boulder. If you've seen a couple of less than ideal reviews here, just know things have changed for the (much) better. I recently had some serious issues with my Vespa that were complicated, both in diagnosis and repair. Even though it was "high season" for Vespa service, and they were slammed, owner J.P. bent over backwards to make sure I got back on the road as soon as possible. It's important to understand that, while Boulder is a small community, we have a lot of scooters around (because this is the perfect town for riding!). And, likewise, Sportique is small, yet experiences a uniquely high demand for scooter sales and service, especially Vespa trained service. This means service may take a little longer in the summer, but, believe me, owner, J.P., will not rest (he's been known to actually lose serious sleep) until your bike is serviced perfectly with no further issues! If you've even whimsically considered a Vespa or other great scooter, do yourself a favor and pay Sportique in Boulder a visit; they know their stuff and you just might just find yourself riding blissfully down Pearl Street, knowing you're with the best. After the care, concern and fairness I received from them, I can only say Boulder now has the Vespa/Scooter Dealer it needs and deserves. read more

Went there to pick it up.Was still taken apart and parts were missing. Okay, first of all I know nothing about Scooters and had never stepped into a Scooter store in my life. When I stopped in to talk to Sportique about purchasing my first scooter I expected to get an attitude about how unenlightened and unaware I was. To my surprise they treated me with respect and caring. Mike walked me through the ins and outs of purchasing a scooter and based on my feedback he picked out a few for me to test drive. Mike was patient while I rode the scooters and tested them out. He didn't try to sell me on the most expensive scooter...this doesn't seem his style. In fact, he presented each scooter with the pluses and minuses of each brand and model. I really appreciated his factual presentation of each scooter. In the end I purchased a Stella Automatic. Mike personally delivered the scooter to my home and gave a thorough overview of the maintenance and operation of the scooter when he delivered it. I'm surprised a the rude reviews of Mike and his personality. Not everyone is as loud and as outgoing as I am. Mike is genuinely quiet and so it's silly to attack his personality. I found him honest, knowledgeable and not pushy. For me, Mike was the perfect person to speak to about purchasing my new scooter. In the end, I treat people the way I want to be treated. I like nice people and could care less if they are boisterous or quiet. Mike is a genuinely nice guy...so why would I be a jerk to him just because he's quiet. Doesn't make sense. Things have changed at Sportique Boulder since JP recently became the new owner. Those terrible reviews below were true, but not any more. No more customer bashing. Quality and satisfaction is the new game. JP is passionate about scooters, and he knows them inside and out. He wants your scooter to run at its top performance, and he will bend over backwards to make it that way. He is a perfectionist mechanic, and he wouldn't charge me if he couldn't fix my scooter to my satisfaction--a rare breed these days. During the busy season you might have to make an appointment for major work, but if its just a tweak he's likely to fix it on the spot. Give him a little slack, he's a one-man show, and well worth the wait. JP is a really nice guy to chat with, and his love of scooters, and his work is obvious. I have to be careful about wasting his valuable time, as we can talk about scooters all day long. He is refreshingly honest and up front, and I have no reservations about his integrity. Be glad we have this shop, and JP in Boulder. We are lucky. read more

These guys do not have their act together. I've made four phone calls to get a quote for two very straightforward maintenance issues. It's not easy to get a call back. I've managed to get a quote for one of them. I've also gotten a tune up once on a honda scooter. Before the tune up it ran perfectly. Afterward, it stalled 10 minutes after I left the shop. A week later I had to bring it back because it wouldn't start again. Not terribly impressed. read more

I wish I had read the reviews prior to bringing my scooter in for what I thought was a simple tune-up. If your scooter is not one of theirs, please do NOT bring it to this place. The person I dealt with has zero customer service skills and basically tried to find a problem where one did not exist. Why? Because my scooter was Chinese so therefore it could not be any good. Wrong! Not only was the customer service extremely poor, the guy basically called me out as a liar because he didn't like the way the scooter idle and I essentially said the scooter had no real problems that I was aware of. Besides, I'm not the one who uses it and the woman who does said she loves it. I left it there over the weekend and then canceled my service before they did any work on it. Oh, the guy said it started idling just fine but he took $20 of the $150 deposit I gave him for his time. Then he had the audacity to ask me later if I thought him charging me $20 was fair. Sure. Insult me, condescend to me, call me out as a liar then charge me $20. Bottom line: This guy is unhappy with his lot in life and it shows. Don't waste your time here. I am clueless about scooter engines...these guys know about as much as me!! I tried to rebuild my scooter on my own, and had a hard time with it. After spending all of last summer working on it, I decided I'd rather pay someone to fix it. I took it here and right off the bat, I told them that I didn't care what the cost, I wanted it to run correctly. After a $260~ bill, they said they had tuned my carb and did a safety check and it was good to go. As i pulled away from their shop, my muffler fell off, and my lights didn't work!!! Come to find out, my crankcase wasn't sealed properly (by me), which would make it impossible to tune a carb! I let them know about the issues, and got an email from Pete (the owner) saying that the bill was justified because of time they spent on it and the fact that he had to drive 11 miles to pick it up. (he didn't pick anything up, i dropped it off) They charged me for work that was not completed...most untrustworthy and incompetent "mechanics" I have ever come across. I ended up taking it somewhere else to have the work done, and it now runs like a champ. Only cost me a couple hundred dollars more than this place, and they did 5x the amount of work in addition to all of the things this place charged me for and didnt do. I was forewarned about not going to Sportique, but I wanted to support an in-town business. From the moment I walked through the door, the guy working was not very welcoming and looked more annoyed than anything that he actually had to work. I inquired about a tune-up for a recently purchased scooter and when I mentioned the brand, he simply scoffed at me and told me that the scooter was junk, a waste of money and time and that they would not service it at all. I understand that you do not want the liability of a chinese scooter, but you dont have to be such DICKS about it. I have the scooter to mess around with, not my primary transportation. He was very short, when I inquired about who may help me out- he said just find some random person on craigslist, never looked at me in the eye, and was all around one of the worst customer service experiences I have dealt with. The website states they work on all scooters including Chinese. They won't touch mine. The disclaimer at the bottom of the webpage states they can refuse to work on anything for any reason. So much for that. My room mates have purchase 2 from them. One used which seem to have a radiator problem and another that constantly has to have the carburetor cleaned if not run at least twice a week. I paid half what they paid for my cheapo and it would still be running if I hadn't had a brake problem. If I could find a place to clean the carburetor I am sure it would run again. Frankly the 50cc moped are not worth the money. Thinking the electric which Sportique does not carry may be a better option. If not electric then pay the extra and get a larger moped. Also put Stabil in the tanks to help with gas evaporation and carburetor problems if your moped is going to set for any length of time. Roommates seem happy with them but I personally think they are extemely slow on service and don't hink I will use them. read more
