By that time, I just wanted to get it over with. I explained about cutting it short, leaving top a little longer, tapered side, and block in the back. What they used to call a Businessman Cut. I was hot and tired and frustrated so I paid my bill tipped because I'm a good guy. When I got home, everyone in the family told me how bad it looked and how bad the cut was. I was just too tired to go into it. No professional stylist should allow a customer to leave with that bad of a haircut. Exact quotes from family and friends. I was a new customer. I love that this is locally owned. The vibe inside is contemporary barbershop, safe talk for kids, each stylist focused on their own person. We live about 20 minutes away but it's worth the drive. Vivian took the time, was very personable and she used scissors to even up my thinning hair, rather than electric clippers, plus the scalp and neck massage were great and I've always appreciated getting my hair washed after the final cutting, rather than a talc covered brush to remove the clippings and stop up my nose! When we lived in Prosper I belonged to a couple of men's styling salons (Boardroom, Gent's Place) where I got this level of service, and I don't mind paying for it, but until now I just couldn't find anyone who would take the time to do it right. I enthusiastically recommend against going to 18/8 Salon…read more In addition to the cost of the haircut and the tip, an additional service fee appeared on my bill that had not been disclosed to me beforehand. I've never had a salon add a charge that way. It was unethical and sneaky I also had trouble booking online, so I called. I paid extra for an offer that included a second haircut at no charge. No one told me the second appointment had to be **within four weeks**, and I wasn't given a card or anything explaining that deadline. I would never have bought the offer if I'd known. When I called to book the second cut after five weeks, I was told they couldn't honor it because I was one week past the deadline. The person I spoke with said they would ask a manager, given that the restriction hadn't been explained to me. No one ever called me back, even though I called twice. The haircut itself was okay, but it absolutely was not worth $65, an undisclosed fee, and a tip. The sneaky service fee, sketchy promotion, & lack of follow-up made the experience considerably worse. I expect a salon charging these prices to be upfront about its fees and the terms of what it sells. Obviously a business that relies on heavy one-time fees with no expectations of return clientele.
