Yikes! I've been here before and gotten a good haircut. But this recent visit they definitely missed the mark. I've waited for it to grow out to post this, but this haircut is as bad 3 weeks later as it was that day. My barber was about 4 or 5 chairs in, near the back (maybe this should have been my clue to run?). She hardly spoke a word to me, had an air of arrogance, and apparently couldn't cut hair any better than her personality. More barbarous than barber, she mowed through my hair with the clippers, several times nicking an ear or razor burning my scalp. I have looked to see if I have mower lines... First time I've ever had a haircut where scissors were not used. She zipped along with the electric shavers/clippers and spun me around and uttered a few more words ("how is it?"). At this point there was nothing to do - she couldn't glue hair back on and I sure didn't want her taking more off to correct her mistakes. I just got out of there even quicker than she had been (total haircut time was about 7-8 minutes max!). I don't know if the barbers move around or have set chairs (I assume they're set) - but best advice I can give is stay closer to the front door for your haircut! Not sure I'll be back but that's my plan if I do! read more

Absolutely amazing! Was visiting unexpectedly from out of state and my son whom has autism needed a haircut badly. He hates them. They terrify him since he also has sensory processing disorder. I cannot remember the ladies name but she was so patient. She inky used scissors and was quick. I highly recommend! read more

Amazing service. It was my 5 years old son first barber cut and they took care of him so well! I recommend them 100%.

Our normal barber (different one than YJ) was not available this week so on a recommendation from a friend, we were told to see Angel or Wendy. Turns out, both of them were also not in today. I asked the two stylists in the front "who fades well" and they said "everybody here does".... I should have known by that answer. I took my son to the person at the end who was available and the two stylists said that the one available is good. I showed the lady a picture of the haircut and asked for a low fade, keep the top but blend. It's a super basic cut and this is how I get my sons haircut all the time. Well, the first buzz, she runs the buzzers all the way up and in and cuts off some of the top. I knew with that first stroke that this was going to be a bad haircut. Each pass with the buzzer, she clips more and more of hair on top. His haircut is uneven and she cut off over a year of layering and growing his hair. So disappointing! I'll summarize with, m sometimes it's just better not getting a haircut at all and wait for your trusted barber. read more

This place has been my favorite barber shop since I moved here 5 years ago. They are so nice and friendly, real people. Customers are great, too. We always have a great conversation about current topics and each other's lives. So great. I always tell myself to go there just to hang out like small town people used to do. This place is the definition of small town America. It's the best $12 you will ever spend. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a chair but they do get busy on Saturdays. They use a straight razor on the back of your neck which I love. My favorite part are the classic barber chairs. CASH ONLY! read more

I found this place, I walk in and there are a whole bench load of folks. Greeted by Wendy as I walked in. Kids, and teens n dads n grandpa's, wives n moms. Wow! If you don't need a fru fru haircut, glass of wine, and a man facial you are in luck. A nice group of people doing good work and a great price. After going here I had the warm fuzzies knowing I could get my haircut and tip well for cheaper than it would cost to get my scalp raped at a Supercuts/Fantastic Sams/etc. by someone who has been cutting hair for 5 weeks. Nope. I got the worst haircut ever from the young, dark haired lady whose chair was second from the end. My son got his haircut at the same time. The man with the chair at the end did a great job on my son. Prices are very reasonable but to cut my hair so unevenly is inexcusable. She asked me if it was ok and at first glance with no glasses on it looked ok. plus I am not too picky. It was so bad my wife reshaped it with kitchen scissors two days later. Generally, I do like this place. Several of the employees are good at their job and are nice to my son when they cut his hair. I had to give it three stars instead of 4 or 5 though because the last two times, in an attempt to get in and out as quick as possible, we've gone with whoever was open first as opposed to waiting for our favorite (Wendy). Both times we have happened to get Brandi and both times she was very unpleasant to my young child. I understand the frustration that can come with cutting kid's hair but I lose sympathy when you treat the child unkindly when they've done nothing wrong. I'll keep coming back, but I'll be avoiding her from now on. read more

Looking for a new place to get my hair cut and I walked into yellow jacket. First they only take cash. The place didn't seem the cleanest but hey it's an established older location. After waiting a while I was seen by one of the female employees. Turns out she just got back from a smoke break so all I could smell the whole cut was her cigarette hands. If you want to rub shoulders with some real red necks, just visit this place! By the way, the barbers will probably rub your neck and shoulders before you get out of their chair. Complete with five year old posters on the wall (at 10 yrs they become vintage ambiance) and sports teams with a good ol' boy "we'll get 'em next year" kind of feel, the wait isn't long and the cuts are good, and the price is right. Okay, the ladies at Yellow Jacket Barbershop are simply great. This is the best place in Rockwall to get a haircut. I have been to three other places since moving here in late 2008, and they just don't compare. The barbers at Yellow Jacket are extremely good at what they do, and they are interesting to boot. Unlike their competitors, you do not have to be bombarded with Republican propaganda (or any political BS for that fact). It is so nice to just get a haircut and neck massage. I am sick of all the political hoopla and crap coming out of the fair and balanced bunch or communist news network these days. I personally dislike Republicans and Democrats alike, and prefer Americans. I am so happy to go here and get my haircut because there are lovely ladies, great haircuts, interesting conversation, and warm shaving cream at the end. Thanks ladies and keep up the good work! Outstanding! I've been receiving a haircut from Yellow Jacket Barbershop for several years and have never received a bad cut. Windy, is my barber and she is the best. She takes time to pay attention to detail and is very concerned about doing a great job. I believe I would receive a quality cut from any of the barbers at YJB.
