Disappointing-- babies kept away from mothers, isolated. The plain goat cheese has zero taste. Literally! Probably because they feed the goats grains vs grass. The staff member made us feel like we're a burden. Spent over $50. It breaks my heart to know that, at this very moment, you are reading a review. You could be petting adorable, friendly, curious goats. ...But there is hope for you, yet. Put on your walking shoes, grab your camera, and a bottle of water. It's a self-guided tour, with plenty of signs to explain more about the animals. If you have questions, the staff is very friendly. They are hard at work and may come and go at times. Of course, respect the posted rules.  The origin story, care provided, and love given to these animals is powerful. So grab your kids, find your friends, or just bring yourself.  (Cuz let's face it, you need some "me" time.) We had the BEST time, and we plan on going back again tomorrow so we can do the self-guided tour! Sandra warmly greeted us and answered our million questions. She taught us so much about goats! You can tell she is passionate about the farm and her animals. The herd dogs were all super sweet and loving. The goats are fat, happy, and friendly. The facility is very well maintained. Great visit with all the critters and friendly dogs. I buy high quality raw goat milk here to make my goat cheese.

My mom and I had the most relaxing experience walking the grounds of the farm. There's quite a few large grazing areas for the adult goats, a kids area, chickens, roosters, dogs and a pig. All the goats were so friendly, the baby and young goats are so cute, with beautiful markings. They don't charge anything for the most lovely experience. All the goats looked healthy and well loved. A sign says donations accepted. Buy goat fudge, smoothie or cheese inside to support this beautiful farm. Thank you for a nice visit. read more

Not for Animal lovers who are planning just to enjoy watching the goats. Must have been a bad day, Not a place I'd buy food from. Store smelled worse than the yard. Reminds me of a puppy mill, but with goats. All baby goats have been de- horned It smelled and was muddy and had a dead oppossom in the parking lot. Our little family of four spent the afternoon with the wonderful people and animals at Split Creek yesterday. The kids really enjoyed the up close contact with goats, chickens, and a pig. The cheese is really good on crackers and bread. We're going to make a pizza with some this weekend if there's anything left. The peach yogurt was very tasty. Beautiful farm tucked away just outside of Clemson, SC. Driving down the long gravel road shaded by tall trees with goats frolicking in the pasture makes the whole place feel special from the start. There is a small country store at the farm which carries all of their products. The feta is some of the best I have ever had! Packed with green olives, sun dried tomato and top quality olive oil, it goes great in salads, eggs or pasta! The store also has a selection of meats, but they are not from goats living at Split Creek! The farm is beautiful with rolling hills and lush meadows! There are pens with baby goats that are extremely cute as well! Worth a visit! read more

As others have said, this is a working farm, so there isn't going anyone guiding you around or anything. I believe you can do a guided tour if you call ahead to arrange it and have enough people. While you can pet the older kids and adult goats, it'll only be if they come to the fence; the kids that can't be petted have signs posted letting you know. My main concern about this place comes from the lack of space. Goats typically need more room than you'd expect. Just eyeballing the number of goats I saw last summer, I'd say there's a total of at least 500 goats; the acreage actually being used by the goats looks to be about 6 to 6.5 acres. That is nowhere near enough room for that many goats. I'm not sure if they do pasture rotation, but they'd need more employees than the two I saw when I visited in the morning if they wanted to do that. Judging from the diarrhea I'd see, I'm going to guess they have a worm issue in part because of not rotating pastures and because of overcrowding. The goats I got a good look at looked to have overgrown hooves as well, and there were a number of snotty noses and some coughing going on. With that many goats in those pens, I'm not surprised that there would widespread upper respiratory problems. Essentially, it's not a terrible place, but I do believe they're too big for their shoes so-to-say. Too many goats, not enough land, not enough employees, and the products, while good, are quite expensive. They should rethink the layout of the pastures and definitely downsize how many goats they have for the land they use. read more

This is one of our favorite stops every time we come to Anderson to visit grandparents. The staff are friendly and always willing to answer questions and educate. The animals are well cared for and the gift shop has neat trinkets and wonderful goat milk products. The fudge and feta are fantastic. A wonderful outing for little ones and families. Be sure to be there when the dogs round up the goats for milking, usually between 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon. It's a fun experience. read more
