I agree with every positive review here. You won't find better service than you can find at Splashlight. I am really happy I worked with them for the lighting for my new home. All of their employees are well-versed in every aspect of the business and are pleasant to work with... helped me find what I wanted vs. what they wanted to sell to me. If you have anything complicated to figure out (fans may need need extension poles and slope adapters, cabinet lighting needs transformers, etc) you want to work with Splashlight to make sure you get everything you need. They have products in all price ranges and everything I got has quality I can trust to last. They were very timely in getting my fixtures... stored them while the house was being built, and then had them ready for me to pick up on a moments notice. read more

Recently purchased a wall sconce and several outdoor lights here. If you can afford lights on the pricier end, then definitely check this place out because they carry a lo lot of trendy, modern lights. The only downside of the shopping experience was that every time we liked something and wanted to know the price, the salesperson had to go away and consult a book and come back with the price. Splashlight Studio - Appalling to get charged shipping even though we went to the store to order and to pickup the lights (which arrived a week late) - Lighting Stores Near Me - Boulder, Colorado

So my wife went to try and buy lights a few weeks ago at Splashlight studio in Boulder. We are looking to replace all of the interior sconces in our house which consists of about 11 lights. We know it's an investment and are absolutely capable of affording that kind of purchase. However, Splashlight studio has lost our business and I would recommend that unless you are over 60, perhaps female, and not casually dressed, you also choose elsewhere. My wife went in and looked at lights while patiently waiting for the man in charge to finish up with another customer. Once finished he led my wife to the discount wall of lights. Why he did that is uncertain outside of the fact that it's quite possible he made a judgment because my wife looks quite young (lucky me) and casual and was likely dressed in jeans and a puffy coat. When she suggested looking at other lights on the wall he stated that these were "probably out of her price range." She persisted acknowledging the prices. He then brought out a catalog for her to look at and when she requested one to take home to show to me he said he had one to let her take that was five years old. She then asked him if all those lights were still available and he reported probably not. Apparently he began to help her a little bit and for a brief moment seemed to warm up. However, as soon as an older couple walked in and requested that they needed help replacing all of their exterior lights he dropped my wife and worked with them. She questioned his choice and he restated "they need to replace all their exterior lights." Promptly, she left, feeling mistreated, judged, and completely enraged. I am reminded of the scene from "Pretty Woman" where Julia Roberts returns to a boutique on Rodeo Drive with all of her purchases. When they go to serve her she reminds them of how she was treated and says, "Big mistake! Big! HUGE!" Boy did he miss out on a good return customer. And a BIG sale. Too bad this man's ease with ill treatment and judgment got the best of him. We will definitely take our business elsewhere. We suggest you do too. read more

I feel like I am sharing a best kept secret writing this review. As soon as I walked into Splashlight it felt like I was entering a secret club in NYC with super cool lighting and music. This is a professional lighting shop with an East Village feel to it. I discovered that Splashlight used to be located on Pearl Street. They moved to their new location about 1 year ago. John, Elisabeth and Mandy seem to work mostly with designers, architects and contractors but the general public is welcome if you can find it. The location does not make it too easy since it is not easy to spot from the street. The owners were really smart on this one. There are plenty of lighting stores that are easy to find in Boulder if you are looking for run of the mill products. If you are searching for unique lighting and want to work with true lighting professionals that really understand what perfect lighting is all about this is the place you want to visit. Splashlight has access to some of the most interesting lighting designs you can imagine. They helped me design the lighting for my entire house. John and Mandy came up with great ideas and had the patience I was looking for and let me tell you it looks absolutely incredible! I can't gush about this place enough! read more

Poor customer service all around. The owner came to our house during our major renovation. His attitude was difficult as he acted as if he was such an expert, us as the homeowners were not and our opinion hardly mattered. Well, our house is under lit. We had issues with the order as well. We spent 7k on fixtures, and while recently in the store to purchase more lights( as our kitchen is too dark), there were two old bulbs that retailed for $20 each. They were not new, and they were not the same brightness. We ordered three more, and asked what they were doing with the obviously not new bulbs. They told us they would sell them to us for $10. It was a slap in the face- why not just give them to us? Are they reselling them to the next customer for $20?? read more

If you enjoy seeing innovative lighting fixtures in a beautiful environment I encourage you to visit their showroom. He is very creative and experienced, and has created the lighting design and buildout for several restaurants, commercial locations, and high-end home projects in the Boulder/ Denver area. Just wanted to give a big shout out to all the ladies at Splashlight!!! They are so helpful and easy to work with. We are just finishing a major remodel and I feel like I had been to so many lighting stores and running down to Denver to try to find lights. Then I walked into Splashlight and the search was over. Their customer service is top notch, super friendly staff and knowledge of products made everything easy. John Hasse, the owner, knows lighting! I purchased higher quality lighting here at 25% less cost I could find on the internet. Plus you get professional help picking out what you need. His installer, Jett Electric, is always on time and I felt comfortable leaving them in my home unattended. Two thumbs way up! read more

Unfortunately, I had a poor experience here. I went in and specifically requested a fixture that could be mounted to just a junction box and did not need additional supports. After ordering the unit and it taking a week longer to arrive then promised, the fixture indeed required extra supports. When I went to return it, since it didn't meet the specifications, I was told I'd have to pay a 20% restocking fee, plus the shipping. I certainly understand custom ordering would have a restock fee, but not on a blatant technical error on their end. The other remedy I was offered was to have their electrician modify the fixture, which of course voids the warranty. I went to a local shop for the customer service and was sorely disappointed. read more

Im still not sure why I kept return to the scene of the 'crime'. But I did. First experience: they sold me used lighting fixtures. I returned them and got my money back. The foreign lady there didn't respond after I answered her question as to why I was returning the used light fixture. Then I purchased multiple lighting systems when I was upgrading the house. It wasn't enuf that I was spending $1000s of dollars on lighting, She tries to sell me this bulky old power generator citing that it's "more powerful". And without remembering that I just wanted the component that came with the lighting system which was smaller and sleeker, I bought the used one. Then (yes a third time) I took two very expensive floor lamps for new switches to be installed. She has switches that only took the old fashioned light bulbs. She didn't even bother to call me and get my permission of inform me of this when I picked up the lamps. I discovered it at home. Yeah, I know the curly ones used to me full of mercury, but she just did this without telling me and I am a disabled vet! So I had to have someone load the lamps back in the trunk and return them to @Splashlight. They had not svn installed a switch on the lamps. So I now had to control them by loosening or tightening the bulb. All in all it is not enough for @Splashlight to charge high prices but they still try to sell you used lighting and lighting equipment for new without telling you. Plus they completely destroyed the switching systems on two imported Italian floor lamps without any apologies. Seems like she should get tired of trying to just sell me anything and tired of me returning her used merchandise back to her and giving me my refund. I would never go to them. After constantly being sold used merchandise for new, well, they are absolutely corrupt. read more

Beautiful light fixtures, dreadful customer service. We purchased a couple of lights from Splashlight for our bathroom renovation. The first one we purchased was defective, Splashlight fixed one part of it, but there were still issues with it. The big annoyance here was lack of follow up - it is unfortunate that they had to deal with lights from a vendor that were defective. We had already paid an electrician twice to find that it was the light was defective. I requested that Splashlight finish the job. The owner, John, came to complete the installation 6 months after we ordered the lights. Our concern here is that he had to change the switches to make the light work, but didn't change the switches for the rest of the bathroom to make them match. Since we paid a designer to do this work and get us switches, it seems like they should match in the same room. What is concerning is that he was fed up with our interactions and called to yell at me. I understand that he might have been fed up with our interactions, but that isn't a reason to yell at your customer and call them names. I wasn't actually intending to write a bad review until his call today. Admittedly we were a smaller customer getting only a few fixtures (~$1000), but if you are in a similar situation you might consider going elsewhere. read more
