My husband and I were very impressed with Spitzer Guest House. The furniture and decorations were interesting and unique. We spent much of time there looking at the vintage and antique pieces. The room was comfortable with a very nice bathroom. Haley made a great breakfast. It started with yogurt, granola and fruit. That was followed by Eggs Benedict with spinach, tomatoes and bacon. The hollandaise sauce was very nice. The coffee was wonderful. I will stay here again and most definitely recommend it to others. read more

This old Victorian is a beautiful welcoming bed and breakfast. We stayed in Ceilan's room which was comfortable and clean. Hayley, our host, was pleasant and accommodating. She cooked and served excellent home made breakfast! It is in an excellent location, short distance walk to the square in Medina that has many unique shops and good restaurants. Also, there are two excellent restaurants, the Corkscrew and Serenite, just a block or two away. We will definitely stay here again! read more

My fiancee and I were looking for a B&B to rest our weary selves on our way from Chicago to D.C. He found the Spitzer House B&B in an online search. At first, I was thinking "Victorian B&B? Sounds .... fussy". I have to say we were really pleased with our stay. The house is really cool and very well-maintained as a landmark property. I notice the manager is young and a pretty cool chickadee. She had some great music playing in the front area, I think Florence and the Machine? I didn't expect that! Our room was really lovely, with a fireplace and its own thermostat, and our bathroom was super-cute and old school...clawfoot tub, porcelain tub, a washbasin in the water closet. =) Our BED was the best part, though: eco-friendly memory foam. I really wanted to spend the entire time cozied up in that bed. So comfy. There were all kinds of snacks available during our stay, and in the morning the manager made us an awesome breakfast. We plan on returning here for sure!! read more

The place was an old Victorian mansion converted nicely into a cozy, welcoming bed and breakfast inn. The Aaron room that we stayed in was clean, comfortable and well decorated. Our stay was pleasant and peaceful. Hayley is a sociable, without getting in the way, person that not only is an excellent manager and host, but a remarkable cook as well. We came to Medina just for a getaway and to see what the square in Medina had to offer. The Spitzer House and the Corkscrew Saloon restaurant (close to each other and the Square) were the two unexpected surprises of our visit. read more

First of all, this will be my sixth Bed and Breakfast I've stayed at in the last 4 years. I"m not a B & B virgin. NOTE: The innkeeper called me and my friend liars and threatened us, belittled us and continued lying about our experience. She said the man we saw was a STRANGER which is frightening and should be reported to the police. This was a VERY mixed experience for me and rates on the bottom two of all the B and B's I've been at. Let me share the good and bad and you can decide for yourself. Communication was slow. I called one night and did not receive a call back until midway through the next day. I never read one email until this morning. Not a big deal but an interesting beginning. When I arrived, the first thing I noticed was the big black trashbag in the parking lot which remained there the whole time. I'm used to meticulous inside and outside places and didn't like looking at the trash bag. I pulled in the wrong driveway so knew the innkeeper was home but she had us during check in hours get our keys with a nice note from the mailbox on the front porch. We rang the door bell and no one came. I am used to being greeted by the proprietar especially if it is within check in hours which we were. It's not brain surgery and we didn't need a tour....but still...didn't feel VALUED or really welcomed. Noticed right away the inside was SUPER CLEAN. I had no issue with the cleaning inside but my friend noticed there were old dirty grinds and kind of an old and crappy self serve tea and coffee station. Wipe out this every so often and sterilize it. I like home made cookies and snacks of a variety. There was fruit but no fresh bakery or personal touches. We are used to fresh baked cookies or even home made macaroons. YUM. I have a bad knee and climbing three flights of stairs with my bags would have been challenging if my friend hadn't switched rooms with me. Again, I am used to having my bags carried to my room by the inn keeper or staff or at least having the option of this. They claimed to have wifi but wifi worked on my phone and tablet but NOT ON MY WORK brand new MAC computer. This was a HUGE issue. When I asked for help I was told "It's working for me and I don't know how to fix it". Thankfully, I had my daughter due my urgent work that I HAD to do on my computer and I could miss a couple days although it put me behind. WIFI IS A MUST For me where I stay. I wouldn't have stayed here if I knew there was going to be a WIFI problem. Also, no attempt was made to figure out the issue. It was just like "Oh well". That's not a normal inn keeper/staff attitude. I knew the place was haunted the second I walked in there. Most places are (new and old) so it wasn't a big thing to me and I didn't have time to investigate it. When I walked through the creepy dining room to get to my room at night, I heard "Kimberley whispered in my ear". I also saw energy in the downstairs room and took pictures of it. I captured some mist and some dark figure type stuff. Again, perfectly normal in any home new or old (I'm a paranormal investigator). We were the only ones staying there so the house was quiet UNTIL 6:00am on Saturday when someone did the laundry and I was woken up by noise below me (the grates are HUGE in this house). Don't do laundry that early in the morning please! The eggs are FRESH and the fruit was good. Everything with breakfast was "okay". Again, I'm used to just a little bit different thing. Also, all B and B's are so skimpy with the meat proteins. I know it costs a lot but we go to B and B's so we don't have to eat right away. The innkeeper was a FAIR cook but our eggs were cooked wrong and she said it was something about the pan. Get a new pan. We had eggs both mornings and I would have rather had pancakes or french toast or a variety the other morning. We did have a nice flatbread although a little odd. I"m from the south. A country breakfast or Southern country breakfast is NOT flatbread. It wasn't very filling but it was good. I wasn't a fan of the shower. I had to ask my friend how to work it. In most B and B's, they would have shown you. There was quite a bit of street noise, drunken yelling and such on both nights. But didn't last long. I had no issues with noise other than the laundry from the staff. My friend said a guy scared her to death (husband? boyfriend? of the innkeeper?) when he came and grabbed a robe off the hook while she was getting drinks. Maybe announce yourself when interacting with guests or be friendly. The WEIRDEST thing happened on Sunday morning at breakfast. We were chatting and there was no noise or music when all of a sudden a NASTY dark satanic heavy metal song came over the loudspeakers fairly loud. It was NOT appreciated at all and played the whole song through before it stopped. I think maybe the cook/staff was listening in the kitchen and accidentally piped it through but STILL. There was a child really cute on the premises but no issue to me. Very well behaved. read more

My daughter and her family recently moved to Medina Ohio. It isn't always convenient for them to have another house guest so I was thrilled to find the Spitzer House. Reservations were easy to make and their follow up was quick and easy. The home itself was as charming inside as it appeared outside. The rooms are spacious and offer everything you can possible need, wifi, cute bathroom, comfy bed and cable television. The young lady who manages the Inn lives there with her mother and precious daughter. They were extremely kind and accommodating, I felt as if I was staying with family. Breakfast offered a wide variety of fruit, muffins, waffles, eggs and anything else you requested was made available. I hope to stay at the Spitzer House again and again. read more

My extended family lives in Medina and we always stay at the Spitzer House when we come visit. It's right off the square downtown so you can walk to lots of cute restaurants and shops. The B&B is hands down the best place to stay in that area. It's always super clean, the beds are really comfortable, the rooms are well appointed, and breakfast is fantastic. The Inn Keeper, Hayley, takes great care of us while we're there and spoils us with extra treats. They also have a Tesla charging station which is so hard to find in that area. What a charming and delightful inn! Hands down favorite of any I have visited. Beautifully restored and historically accurate (at least to my uneducated eye) down to every last detail including door hinges, wall coverings, and pull chains in the lavatory. Room was spacious, felt private, and hostess was perfect balance of helpful and friendly without being overbearing. Delicious breakfast. Overall fantastic. read more
