We enjoyed lunch at Spitfire Tacos in McCall today and were really impressed. The tacos came out looking like each one was hand-crafted, beautifully presented, super fresh, and absolutely delicious. We tried four tacos: the Smash Burger Taco, Al Pastor Taco, Shrimp Taco, and the Mushroom Quesotaco, and every single one was a hit. We were happy to see a new restaurant in McCall but this will be our last visit. When asked for a to-go box, the bus boy picked up or leftovers with his hands and put in the to-go box! That makes me question what is happening in the back if this happened in the front of the restaurant. read more

Being from Southern California where you get some of the best Mexican food on the planet (IMHO), take my review with that in mind! Overall, Spitfire is a great place to get your "Taco and Tequila fix"!!!!! Spitfire is a nice bar and restaurant right on Lake Payette. We were seated quickly at a table right on the edge of the outdoor patio overlooking the lake. We were greeted promptly and given water. There was a bit of a wait for the server to come to our table but they were very busy and as we found out understaffed. However, it wasn't terribly long and our server, Beco from Rome, Italy was very apologetic and attentive. We ordered the Mexico City Margarita and a Cabo San Fresco to drink, some Chips and guacamole, a carne asada Quesadilla, an Alta California Shrimp taco and an Al Pastor taco. The chips and guacamole came quickly with the drinks and rest of the food following shortly. The chips are great with Tajin and salt seasoning, and the guacamole was authentic with chunks of avocado, tomato and cilantro. Only complaint there is the guacamole was a bit small. It should have been larger for the amount of chips. The quesadilla was delicious. The smoky chipotle crema and guacamole on the side was excellent. The quesadilla was cooked perfectly with a nice amount of cheese and carne inside. Perfect. The Alta California shrimp taco had 3 nice sized batter-dipped shrimp and was very tasty. The Al Pastor taco was delicious and the meat very tender. There could have been more heat and flavor overall from the Al Pastor meat but it was a good taco. Finally the drinks were excellent. The Mexico City margarita was on point (note that this margarita is black in color due to the charcoal added). The Cabo San Fresco was very refreshing and floral with the Elderflower flavoring. Overall we felt the service, although slow at times was great, Beco was a delight, give it an A. The Chips and guacamole an A- (needed to come with more guacamole). The tacos a B+ as the Al Pastor should have been more spicy and flavorful. The Quesadilla an A. The Drinks an A as they were spot on. Some additional suggestion: There are many more things you can do with Churros. They should offer more Churro based deserts than Churro Lava cake. Also, offer a crunchy taco. Nothing better than a crunchy taco shell! read more

We just experienced a seriously sloppy and vulgar supervisor. She was drinking at the Bar and saying terrible things about the young man who was the server. During the time we were there she had several drinks and cussed like she was in her own house. There was a young man going in and out of the kitchen and hanging out with her and he was cussing too. The young man who served us was polite and took care of us but the atmosphere beyond him was so uncomfortable we didnt want to stay. This restaurant has had a very bad reputation from when it opened last year, the girl there is your problem. We will never return with our family or children. read more

the ambience is really cool for a spitfire taco, as for the service was slow and inconsistent. the server checked up once after 20ish minutes after our meal was served, i was confused if I needed to wait to pay or pay up front so while I was upfront the server went over to the table and said she'd be back when I got back. I got back and waited another 20 minutes, usually I'm understandable and coherent with servers being busy but the place wasn't busy at all, at most 3-4 tables. such a shame for a nice spot to have dinner but the service can't match that. read more

Stopped in for lunch in McCall today. We ordered the guacamole, queso, beef/reef burrito and quesabarria tacos. Everything was great! Food was fresh and looked as good as it tasted. Biggest surprise was the huckleberry margarita. It was delicious!! Our server was lovely.. some of the other patrons were horrible and she handled them with grace. So glad this place made its way from Eagle to McCall, although I don't make it out of downtown Boise very often, it's a place I always wanted to try. It is exactly what the town of McCall needed. Between the food, the tequila selection, and those unbeatable Payette Lake views, it is hard not to leave impressed. I had the burrito and it was phenomenal, packed with flavor, tender chicken, tater tots (YEUS!) and just the right balance of ingredients. The pastor taco had that smoky depth I always look for, while the mushroom taco was rich and earthy without being overdone. We also ordered the queso to start and it lived up to the hype creamy, melty, and a bowl down in about 3.78 minutes. The tequila cocktails were fantastic, fresh and balanced without being too sweet, and paired perfectly with sitting outside looking out at the lake. Service was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better. McCall is lucky to have this spot. With food this good and views this epic, it is going to be one of my go to places every time I am in town every other weekend. read more

We were greeted by a sweet hostess, seated outside with a great view. Our server showed up around 10 or so minutes later complaining she was also the bartender. There were only two other tables and they were both finished and leaving. We finally ordered 2 margaritas, chips, guacamole, salsa and a taco each.She forgot what we ordered and took our order again. It probably took 20 min to get the drinks. Someone else, friendly brought us the snacks. When the bartender/server brought our drinks she also accidentally spilled an orange soda on me. She apologized and said she would bring me a towel. Another 2 tables were sat and one was her friends. She got diverted and chatted with her friends for a bit. I asked the nice gal if she could bring me a towel. Our server finally came back with a towel. The nice gal brought us our food and asked if everything was ok. We were like sure, accidents happen so no worries. The food was not that great. Salty....the salsa was, it seemed like, tomato paste and crushed red pepper flakes. Very disappointing experience. First of all, please let me say the only reason I am giving a three-star review is because of the attitude of one of the managers. (Havi I believe?) Her behavior towards the staff members was atrocious. She was demeaning, rude, and treated the team members as if they were beneath her. I have managed resorts, taverns, breweries, and hotels. There is a way to bring a team together to build a great experience for guests, and then I guess there is her way. Which in my professional opinion is the wrong way entirely. Upper management should take action, or they will start losing many great employees specifically because of her attitude and inability to manage a team effectively. The rest of the staff was amazing though! Cheerful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The food, as always, was AMAZING! So go for the food, the tequila, and the support staff. But steer clear when Havi is there. She ruined the experience. read more

I honestly didn't have high expectations for this place but went in with an open mind. I was very surprised at how good the food was I got the steak burrito and the meat was very tender and perfectly seasoned. I never had tots in a burrito before. Service was outstanding the crew was very attentive and made sure our chips were never empty. Overall our server Leo made the night even more fun he made some great suggestions, was very attentive, and personable. The back patio was nicely done and very cozy. Overall great way to end our Labor Day weekend definitely going back because of Leo. read more

Where do I start... first of all there's no handicap access had to go down about twenty stairs to enter and to exit... drink's r way over priced for size...no bartender... server's were making there customers drinks and in between customers they sat and hung out at the bar... one server even sat down while she took ur order...carne asada was so tough u couldn't even chew it...u had to pay for chips and salsa... experience was definitely a bummer we won't b back or recommend it to anyone read more

The service was excellent, drinks were very good, the salsa was also delicious with a huge portion of tort chip. I had the Carne asada burrito and it was over seasoned with salt and whatever seasoning they used. I could only get half down. bagged the rest and took it home to a friend who said the same thing. My wife had a chicken taco that was also over seasoned and the corn tortilla was cold. Not sure I'll return but will usually give a business a second chance. Great lake view. read more

Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. We were so excited to try Spitfire. Everyone talks highly of the Eagle location. Our kids were starving. We walked in and there were barely any customers inside. They sat us quickly and all seemed good. Then we noticed most people did not have their food yet. Then we saw t he server who looked like she hated the fact we had walked in. The server continued to ignore us and no one helped us for 15 minutes. I asked the bar server if I could order our food there because the kids were getting restless. She said someone would help us shortly. After nearly 30 minutes we decided to get up and walk out. But not before the server who did everything she could to ignore us made some wonderful comments. When asked by the manager if she wanted our table, she said "not really, its been a sh!t show in here all day." The manager asked us to stay but we told her they needed to work on their staffs attitude and be more attentive to customers. I will try the Spitfire in Eagle but will not be going back to this one. read more
