So we spotted at this…read moreshopping center in Paso Robles and the Ross within it; it was visible from the freeway and easy enough to maneuver to get to. On the outside, it looked like a typical Ross. Ross built inside a shopping center with connecting buildings. Same typical signage. When walking in, a cashier greeted us from afar. Faceless ventriloquy of a cheerfully voiced greeting. The vibe was safe and inviting. The shop layout was also typical Ross as well. Plain utilitarian no design concept. The quantity of inventory was better than the inventory of most Ross' in the Sacramento area. But not being a local, just don't know if I hit it on a restocking day or if it's the norm. If it is, that's awesome. Anyway, the Hubs didn't find a golf belt that was the right width he was looking for. I on the other hand, found quite a lot that caught my eye (houseware decor, kitchenware, and clothes). But I impressed myself with full on restraint.

Service is good, but scarce on the floor. Worth a trip? Maybe. I've seen better. Man up, Ross. C'mon. Location specific: Paso Robles, CA ============================ It's not the worst of Ross's, but its pretty low on the scale. At least it was kept neat and clean. * They have late hours, so that's good -- open until 10pm. * It's a small store, in particular, a very small amount of men's and shoe inventory. Plus, what they had was low-end items. * Parking is aplenty * In a pinch, come.

The entire beauty section is behind glass and you need to an employee in order to get an item. I found a shirt that I liked in the clearance section but the $7 on the tag actually meant it was $7 off the original price. Not that the price was $7, so that was confusing. I'm not sure why they don't just leave the clearance price on the tag, rather than how many dollars are off.

There are a few "staples" that come from Walmart purely because of price. But I am happy to drive 5 minutes further for a better shopping experience. The store and parking lot is always busy, neither making for a positive shopping experience. It's getting ridiculous these days that so much product is now under lock and key, which means looking for a sales associate to help get you the product you need. Some aisles seem very narrow to move through when the store is busy, which makes a quick stop difficult. Lines for the registers, all of which are never open, are pretty long, which sends me to self checkout. Again, waiting in line because over half the self checkout machines aren't in use. Apple Pay isn't accepted either. Just too much I don't want to deal with here.
