Quick trip from Orlando to Columbus. The flight was moderately smooth as there was a lot of wind. The flight steward was pleasant. The seats were ok but the tray was TINY. I don't know if that made me feel like there was more room or less. At least there was a lip so my iPad didn't fall off. The cost was cheap considering it was booked the same week I flew. Cheap tickets, uncomfortable seats. Nice that they give you a seat assignment unlike southwest. Wish they had WiFi on all flights. For the money it a good value. Don't pack a carryon though, just a backpack. Anything more they will charge you and then your value ticket price goes out the window. I was recently in Las Vegas and had a layover flight to LA, then back to Columbus. While waiting to board in Vegas, we kept hearing them offer vouchers/money (highest was $500) for people to stay until the morning because apparently the flight was "over booked." A few mins go by, and my husband's name gets called over the intercom. He goes up there, then motions for me to come. As I get up to the podium, I was told that we were getting switched to the direct flight to Columbus (which boarded 20 or so minutes ago). We were handed new tickets and rushed over to the gate next to us. As I was about to board, I was concerned about my luggage asking if it was going to be switched really quickly to the new plane. Of course, I was told, " Yes, it would be." As we got on the plane (we already knew we weren't sitting next to each other), the seats we were assigned were already taken, and the plane looked to be completely full. I am furious at this point because the passengers are already upset and want to take off. Apparently, the employees kept calling names of people who never showed up to the gate, so that is what kept the plane from leaving. As we walked up and down the aisles, the flight attendants finally spot 2 seats. I was hungry, tired, and thirsty. I expected to sleep and eat while at the layover in LA and was not about to pay their ridiculous prices for snacks and drinks. As we arrive in Columbus, we head to the correct carousel to retrieve our luggage. Minutes go by, and it's finally done. The luggage never got switched over. We found an employee to see if she could help and she didn't. She told me that once it arrived from LA (around 1250 landing), she would make sure she saw it and would call me and have it delivered the same or the next day. I asked if I needed to fill out a paper, and I was told no to just wait for her call. The new plane we got put on landed in CMH around 545am. The plane from LA was landing around 1250pm, as stated above. So I knew I would be getting a phone call, maybe around 130, 2 at the latest. Of course, no call. I checked to see if my bag arrived, and according to the information that was given to me, it was there. I made a report and have been trying to get my luggage since. I keep hearing that they are "actively searching for it." I sent in a picture of what it looks like. The room was full of luggage when we were in there getting lied to prior to leaving. Their lack of empathy is ridiculous! If this were to happen to them, I'm pretty sure they would not be happy and would want their belongings as well. During the flight from Columbus to Las Vegas, I decided to waste $17 on their top-tier wifi. What a waste that was. With reading all the reviews, I can't believe they're allowed to treat their customers with disrespect. Will definitely not fly with them again. This is not the first complaint or the first time I have faced issues with Spirit. I used to tell everyone that I never had issues with this airline and well, I guess that caught up to me. I booked a connected flight from Vegas to Los Angeles, with a four-hour layover followed by a four-hour flight from Los Angeles to Columbus. As I am waiting to board my flight leaving Vegas, they are asking for volunteers to take the next flight and offer a voucher as well. This pushed the flight back by half an hour. I've been in the West Coast for almost a month now and I am ready to get home to my family, so I declined the offer and took my first flight to Los Angeles. After waiting the full four hours and then some, they once again ask for volunteers to take the next flight and offer vouchers. I am at this point sleep deprived and hungry. This was an AM flight so all shops in the airport were closed. We are all getting ready to board and over half of the people on this flight did not have an assigned seat. I already paid for mine and I am at the gate ready to board, and the employee stops me. She tells me that I need to pay for my luggage, which I had a backpack and a tiny backpack that basically is a purse. I told her I was on a connected flight with spirit, and I already made it through my first flight with no issue. She said it was not her issue and if I wanted to board, I would have to pay. So, I step aside by the employees helping basically the whole flight get assigned seats. And this man is on the side with me, he asks one of the ladies if he could just ask a quick question and she continues to brush him off. Eventually she blows up and asks, "Are you sure you want to be on this flight?" yelling at him basically threatening his ticket. But she deals with him, and he walks away. As I am waiting, I continue to hear how rude these employees are being to all the guests that are just trying to get on their flight. They offer once again for someone to take the next flight and a voucher so I decide to take it because I can tell these employees will be no help to anyone. While I am being taken care of at a different desk, I see this mother and her teenage daughter waiting at the door that they already closed to the plane. The mother is almost in tears saying that she just wanted to get her daughter home and the employee rips her boarding pass up in her face. There is still a massive group of people in the line that I assumed were supposed to be on this flight and now the door is closed, and the employees are yelling at them and becoming ruder. Mind you, I booked this flight with a $100 voucher from the last time I got screwed over by Spirit. That was when my flight got delayed by an hour for over 6 hours. Thankfully the next flight I was switched to American. But the only flight they offered was another connected flight to North Carolina, then Columbus. I got through my first flight that was five-hours, which was followed by a three-hour layover. At this point I have been up well over 24 hours. I am trying to contact Spirit luggage because my original flight had my checked bag. Customer service could only provide the number to contact the office at the airport I was flying into. And every single time I called it went straight to voicemail. So, I am already dealing with all of this stress from Spirit, and I cannot even check if my luggage is being taken care of. Once I land in Columbus among the amount of people that took this flight and the vouchers from our original flight in LA, we are ready to get our things and go home. Not a single Spirit employee is in the airport. And all of our belongings are locked away in their office. We had to contact security and they said there was not a single thing they could do. One woman had important medication that she could not go without in her luggage, and they still said there was nothing they could do. Security told us that there will only be employees in the airport if they have flights booked. I landed Saturday night. Security said they had no flights booked for Sunday and were unsure if there would be any for Monday. We would have to call and check ourselves, and if there was a flight we had to be there an number of hours beforehand to even start talking to someone about getting our luggage. I understand now why Spirit is the worst airline to fly with. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I had successful flights with them but now this is all way out of hand. They will continue to try and compensate people with vouchers but personally I am done traveling with Spirit. Why would I continue to take these vouchers and continue to deal with the nasty employees and the ruined flights? There has to be real compensation for the money I spent on the original flight, the stress of added travel, and being incapable of getting my own luggage off of a flight they put me on!! read more

Flight 889 CMH - LAX 11/18/23 worst customer service! Paid for a checked bag Waited at the ticket desk for well over a hour with zero employees tending to waiting customers, airline made several announcements over intercom asking spirit employees to tend their service desk/ticket counter. I went up to the gate first employee I talked to apologized and said there were employees that didn't show up for their shift and that I would need to talk to a supervisor. I asked for a gate check on my Checked bag that I had already paid for. One employee said yes they do gate checks another employee said no. That they had to charge me 100$ for a carry on. Booked a flight with Spirit to Costa Rica. Arrived at airport one hour 10 minutes before flight. The flight left at 6:40 am. I went to kiosk and it would not take my info...tried for 15 minutes...meanwhile only one agent at counter checking in about 20 people in line....I go to counter, attendant says"your flight was yesterday, that's why kiosk couldn't find your info". I showed her confirmation for that day....not day before...she left for 5 minutes came back and said...oh so sorry....I said, let me have boarding pass...she says its too late...your luggage wont make it...., "I'll get you on the next flight.....it was 2 days later before Spirit booked me....miss business appointments....and Spirit offered me zero for the inconvenience. THE WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! When I booked my flight I paid extra for the baggage for my round trip. When I changed the my flight I was wiling to go ahead and pay 104.00 to change. The customer representative took my cc info. and then put me back into the queue. When the next representative connect there was not any information in my account, we had no idea who took my information nor did this person proceed to book my changes. This is a great potential of fraud. When trying to get a hold of someone in the USA, it is not heard of. The last two times flying the plane it was dirty, nothing is wiped down. My new date I check the flight information and my flight was being delayed for two hours. Spirit did not think about my connection flight, which I would had been stuck in Vegas. When I call Spirit to bring this to their attention they thought they were going to charge me of the changes. I explained that was not going to happen. Finally was able to get my flight changed. Now, remember I paid extra on my original flight to have, early check (gone) carry on( gone) When I arrived at the airport and had to check in at the kiosk I noticed on my ticket I did not have a carry one. Total BS. I then had to pay addition $79. for my carry on. Although Spirit has been sold out to Jet Blue, I hope the next CEO cares about the customer and gets customer in the US and not over seas. Having all customer service over seas leads to greater chance of fraud. People think their flights are cheap, in the long run they are not. Absolutely the worst experience in my life! Don't fly with them ever! Flew to San Juan Puerto Rico from Columbus Ohio. Connector flight in Ft Lauderdale was canceled the co pilot didn't show but they listed cancelation due to weather in order to avoid giving hotel stays out or meal vouchers. I had to buy a flight through Southwest just to get to San Juan. The way back was delayed in Orlando. We were given a meal voucher and credit towards a future flight. I will never use this credit they couldn't pay me enough to fly Spirit Airlines in life. It's not worth it. They charge for your seat they charge for snacks and drinks they charge for bags you get nothing everything they charge 25 just to check in with a person at the San Juan Airport. I wouldn't even give it one star but that's the only way I could post a comments on Yelp. Never! Fly Spirit! I had a back pack that I showed the Spirit Rep at the gate before boarding and explained that the lie app didn't allow me to select back pack only which was free to carry on the flight. The agent put notes in my account that I was only there with a backpack but when I called Spirit later and they said they saw the notes they still refused me a refund. Saying we don't give refunds. Which was exactly the three agents at the gate blurted loudly back at me when I spoke to them about it on my flight back. Everyone sitting for their flight even looked up to see and hear them. They were so rude and not even sympathetic. They could have said sorry this is our policy as bad as it is but NO! They were very loud and uncaring with 3 of them saying it at the same time. I felt like I was a child being told I did something wrong and I didn't like being treated as a child and not an adult. Also everything is an extra cost. Seats are extra at random prices then there's the Wi-Fi too! Two different prices to and from at double the cost on the flight back home. They don't take the time to lean over and ask you if you would like a drink . They take the snacks and drinks down the aisle as fast as they can seaming to want to get it done as quickly as possible. I don't remember the agent going through the safety speech with where to find exits or oxygen masks. They didn't seem to make it a priority. They all seem to be sheep following the herd. Even the agents standing nearby didn't say we're sorry for the gate agents yelling at you. They just stood there quiet watching.
