While your down there your using a provided map to guide yourself around and match the corresponding areas ( Ex; A to A or 1-1 ) We went after it had just rained the night before, so everything was VERY wet. Wear waterproof/walking shoes if you plan on exploring. Be prepared to get dripped on by very cold water coming off nearby rocks, and the "ceiling". Coming down the initial very steep stairs is a beautiful view of different levels of rocks decending into a tunnel/cave where the rest of the cavers are. Tons of puddles all over the ground from collected rain water and the "droplets". Most the areas are about big enough for one person to walk through the tunnel areas at one time, and if your a larger person i DO NOT recommend going down there. Some areas are extremely tight and really only accessible to someone under 4'5 and around 100 pounds or less. (Im 5'4, 140 and some areas i almost got stuck cause it was too tight going through the rocks. It is neat to see though, i dont think id want to do it again as it is just wet rocks and the furthest tunnel was closed from the previous year that occurred from some heavy rain water. (The water collected, over time causing a collapse). So that was kind of a bummer but i get it for safety reasons. The gem mining was fun, definitely loaded with a lot of "gravel" type rocks so that was new for me, Ive only ever had ones with dirt/sand that yield rocks/gems/shark teeth. We found some really interesting gemstones in each tray. The petting zoo was great. I thought it wad Going to be boring and smelly, and i was happily wrong. The goats were adorable, when we came in a baby jumped through the fence and was following our group. And when we came inside the "pen" to pet them he ran back in it was very cute! The deer were a little skittish but very sweet and gentle. The treasure hunt/maze was VERY fun we enjoyed getting different prizes snd trading them within the group.

The German Village Haus und Garten Tour is held the last Sunday of every June. It is sponsored by the German Village Society (and of course, the gracious folks who open their homes to the public). Just pop into the German Village Meeting Haus, 588 South Third Street, to catch a 12-minute video and pick up a guide to the historic district. The 233-acre neighborhood is the largest, privately-funded historic district in the country. It's a neat place to wander around.

As for the home tour here in German Village, it was very nice. Having friends that used to live in the village, I've had the opportunity to visit several of the area houses during and after their transformation... I love the historical feel and the effort made to preserve the essence of the area!! Why only 3 stars??? Well, as I mentioned at the start of this, I've done this sort of thing before. I love the intent of the fund-raising activity, but I feel the price of $20 per person is ... a BIT much. Had it not been for Groupon offering $15 for TWO tickets, I would not have attended. So glad I did not shell out $40 to stand in line or well over an hour at each house. They're nice and all, but way to crowded. And to stand in line for that long to only see 2-3 rooms on average in most houses..... When I did this a few years ago, I totally loved the experience of meeting and talking with all the people who had actually paid money to come look at my house. It made all the work and effort worth it!! Here in German village, I met only one single owner... REALLY??? Anyway, it was a good onetime experience, as I will probably not attend this again.

What was a problem was after payment was dropped off to a secondary business that the partners of SNTC own as well because that is the address on the SNTC contract, communication with anyone from SNTC was nearly impossible, and THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP. I would initiate every conversation that concerned my reservation from receipt of check, confirmation of the reservation (10 days prior to the date of wedding), and asking to connect with our trolley driver to plan out logistics multiple times only to have that request pushed off until July 25th were I would ask to connect with our driver via email with no response. Many of my emails would be (from my perspective) ignored. All of my phone calls would go unanswered and only one voice message was ever returned with a proper phone call from the owner. I would confirm our reservation for August 1st on July 21st. The owner would confirm for me that we were on their schedule on July 23rd and that would be the last time that I heard from the SNTC until August 4th when I finally had an email from the owner responding to my email from August 2nd describing the reality that his company didn't show up, apologizing for the mishap, placing all responsibility on his logistics service partner for no-showing, and asking for an address to mail a check back to me. I called SNTC 3 or 4 times on my wedding day! Completely unacceptable!!! I had ZERO reason to believe that the check would actually be put in the mail; so I would repeatedly have to ask to come down to the downtown office (not the gym) to pick up the check in person and talk with the owner and the logistics service partner to discuss what happened with our reservation. Eventually, I would end up texting the owner to coordinate a conversation and refund. Ultimately, the owner ended up sending my refund via venmo due to his busy schedule and not wanting to hold up my refund - this I can appreciate and was thankful for. As for the conversation with him and his logistics service partner, that probably won't ever happen. Haven't heard from him or any other company rep since 8/4/2021. I would exercise extreme caution in using SNTC. I am not the only customer they have stood up and I made the mistake in thinking that accidents happen - no showing a customer wouldn't happen twice by the same company. It did and our entire guest list (144 people) plus other vendors and our venue all know what transportation company to avoid in the future.

As of the mid 2020s there have been frequent weekly appearances of food trucks on specific days offering a wide variety of unique foods. There is also a large underground garage at the Ohio State house, and some other garages and flat lots nearby. I have never found parking to be a huge problem. Having only visited here a handful of times, I considered myself pretty clueless about Columbus so I googled city tours and found Capital City Tours. I was interested in the City Overview Tour. So, I emailed the owner, Jean, and she was very prompt in getting back to me with available times, which, fortunately, fit our schedule. My in-laws live in a suburb of Columbus, so they joined my husband and me for the tour. Jean was very sweet, especially with making some special accommodations for my semi-handicapped father-in-law. Anyway, if you're looking to move here - or have lived here all your life, even - this tour is a must-see. Jean has been here 50 years and knows SOOOO much about the history of the city and its various eclectic neighborhoods! And, she's very witty, and had us laughing a good bit. An excellent time was had by all! The tour costs $25 per person, which was more than fair, I think. Her van was impeccably clean and she even used a little microphone while speaking during the tour. At first I thought the microphone might be overkill, but I'm glad she used it because my husband, who sat in the back, could hear her very well. The tour lasted a little over 2 hours. I was so happy I found Jean. I got to see parts of the city I may not have been ready to explore on my own, including Victorian Village, German Village, downtown, Franklintown, OSU's campus, and several others. She has experienced a lot and READ a lot in her 50 years here. It makes me want to learn even more about this great city I will soon call home. And it makes me want to get here all the quicker! I highly recommend this tour. My father-in-law even loved it, and he's hard to please. :)
