I went out last evening with a birthday group and we had AJ "Bama" as our "captain". He was very friendly and made sure we all knew the rules. I was a sober participant and as such I was able to see how patient he was even when the group got more "rowdy" as the evening progressed. The carts have shelves on top, a space in the middle for people to "bartend" and a cooler/ keg hookup. Protip for future groups- bring water and drink it because pedaling makes you sweat or at a minimum dehydrate and that can speed up the process of "party mode". After going back and forth with the office over the course of almost 2 months, we struggled get their office to allow us the opportunity to pay. Finally, we got in touch with them and they had given our spot away, with no explanation. We were planning an out of town field trip with our young students and 2 days before driving 2 hours for our tour, we had to quickly make other plans. A group of us decided to do a Pedal Wagon for my birthday back in early October when it was still warm! It was a perfect day, we had great weather and it was shake day so all of Columbus was out and about. We were running a few minutes late due to a slow Uber driver and some game day traffic and our driver (Eric?) was eager to be off when we got there. He quickly went over the rules and let us pick our two bars. Now, the last time I did a Peddle Wagon we had three hours and the option to pick three bars. This time however we only got two hours and two bars. I'm not sure if it was an option to select a longer timeframe when we signed up or not, but we felt incredibly rushed the entire time. We opted for Brew Dog and OddFellows as our two bars, and as they are relatively close to each other and to the starting point, our driver took us down the street for awhile before we stopped. We were given about half an hour at Brew Dog before we made our way to OddFellows . At OddFellows we had enough time to take a shot and order pizza before our driver rushed us back. We barely had time to eat. My advice if you decide to do a pedal wagon - pick a longer time and don't bring a lot of alcohol with you for the pedal wagon. Unless you chug it you'll be forced to give it up at the end of your time. You're not allowed to take it with you... we lost a lot of alcohol that way. Also plan to tip your driver when you sign up or else you may drunkenly tip him way more than he's worth for two hours.... don't forget he gets to keep all your alcohol too. read more

I had the misconception that pedal wagons weren't worth the hype until I participated recently. I rode in a group of 15 people and it ended up being $25 for each of us excluding tip. The bigger the group, the lower price per person! We had to bring our own drinks for the ride but we could stop at bars and get selected drink deals. We got to aux and choose our own music and our guide / driver was super friendly and fun. The other logistics of the ride went very smoothly as well. Its was 60° perfect. We booked a private wagon on the fly. With 15 of our rowdy friends we hopped aboard the wagon at one of my favorite places, North High Brewing. Our Capitan Lauren was the best! We played our favorite jams as we descended down High St., drinking a beer and laughing all the way. The stops we chose were Local bar and Standard Hall. Both great places. I was part of a Pedal Party for my friend's 40th. This was the first time I have done this, but I see them all the time. I will be honest, I was a little skeptical before my experience, but this was so much fun. It helps to have a good group of friends, but I think my favorite thing about it was our captain. Captain TJ was awesome! We were told to have some ideas of places we wanted to hit before the party, so the birthday girl had a list of bars on their "route". TJ took that list and helped us figure out which places we would hit based on drink specials at each place and the distance from point A to point B. We had a blast!! Insider Tip: Don't get off the Pedal Wagon. Because if you get off the Pedal Wagon, it probably means your ride is coming to an end, and that's just no fun. Stuart is the owner and captain of Columbus Pedal Wagon and he's super cool and nice and I really can't picture him forcibly removing anyone from the Pedal Wagon if they didn't get off on their own volition. So, should I have another opportunity to board Stuart's vehicle, I will most definitely be pressing my luck and not getting off the wagon when it's over. In all seriousness though, this is one of the best ways to travel through and see the sites of Columbus. This was my first time visiting the city and I feel like I got a really outstanding tour of hyper local areas. It's nice that the city of Columbus is so accommodating for activities like this. This, in Chicago, would not fly. The city wouldn't allow it, locals wouldn't have it, it'd just be all kinds of nope... but here in Columbus, Pedal Wagon made people on the street who saw it just as happy as we were on the wagon. So it works like this: * The bike holds a max of 15 people. 12 total pedalers and then 3 people can sit on the back coach bench and laze it up. * Stuart sits in the driver's seat between the two rows of pedalers and takes care of all your steering and braking needs. * The bike seats are extra wide (compared to regular bike seats) and have a little back on them for security. There's also a little cup holder at each seat. * 2 hours on the bike with your group will run roughly $24-30 a person (pretty nominal, if you ask me) * You can choose from what kind of adventure you want and what parts of town you'll explore. * City law prevents you from being able to drink on the Pedal Wagon on public streets, but in private lots, you are allowed) * If you want, you can bring a small cooler with food and water for your group to munch on. * You don't have to be physically fit or even know how to ride a bike to participate. Pedaling is surprisingly easy... until you hit a hill. Then yo gotta hustle a bit, but otherwise it just so rad all around. * You can basically wear whatever you want on the bike. Probably not great for a tight dress or anything, but you aren't limited to work out attire is what I'm getting at. * It's entirely possibly to hold conversations with your fellow pedalers throughout. Oh, the Pedal Wagon! So much fun! A group 14 friends, and fellow Yelpers, all jumped on the Pedal Wagon for the Pride Parade to rep Yelp and show Columbus that Yelp active in their community. While our event was focused on Yelp, and a little different from Pedal Wagon's typical bar hop... I can imagine the experience was pretty typical and similar to anyone else's experience (minus the booze)! Stuart, the owner, was pretty fantastic. First, he puts up with drunk people on a regular basis... so some rowdy Yelpers was a breeze for him! He was friendly, courteous, and very encouraging as we took to the big hills on Broad and at the convention center. I can imagine he's super fun on a bar hop! The experience itself was pretty great. Pedaling down High, waving at the crowds... pretty awesome. It was a great experience and super fun! We had the BEST experience ever with the Pedal Wagon. We were with a group of girlfriends for a bachelorette party and came down from Cleveland. Earlier in the day we saw another group of girls on the Pedal Wagon and immediately called to book a ride. I am so glad we did, it literally made our night! We saw the other group go by and thought we HAD to try it. You get a 2 hour time slot where you pedal from bar to bar. There was a group of 7 of us and we each paid $33 which was so worth it. We started at 10:30pm and our guide Paul was great! He was very fun, nice and we enjoyed his company. He took us to places he thought we would enjoy and he was right. We were able to play our own music as we pedaled and it was seriously a blast. It was also an unexpected great work out lol. I highly recommend using the Pedal Wagon if you're in the Columbus area. Lots of 5 star reviews! Here are the only things that kept me from giving the full 5 rating: - You don't have much time! It's a 2 hour ride, and based on group decision you can hit up any bar on the route. We only made it to 4 bars, and you are only at each bar for about 15 minutes or so. This means you have to get there, chug a beverage, and pay your bill in that amount of time. - More time is spent in the bars than on the pedal wagon. It was super cool to be cruising down High St (going 10 miles an hour and annoying the cars behind us) and listening to tunes, but we weren't really on the wagon that long between stops. - It's expensive! We got our pedal wagon on a groupon deal, which I highly recommend. For our group of 8 it would have been around $30 a person. With the discount, it was about $13 a person. Yes, you get discounted drinks at the bars (about $3 for a draft) but it can add up quickly. Obviously, these three things didn't detract from my experience enough to give Pedal Wagon a poor rating. It was still a really fun way to spend a few hours, and everyone in my group enjoyed it. Our fearless pedal leader was really friendly, and kept us all on schedule. The pedaling wasn't too strenuous, so all levels of physical fitness are welcome; I had a harder time chugging my drinks in the allotted time than pedaling the wagon! read more
