I am a Military Veteran. I was flying with my wife and we were checking our bags at your Rickenbacker Airport. We had two bags and two carry on bags. Everything was going as planned until the person checking us in told me we would have to pay for our 2nd carry on .I told her we have traveled with Allegiant before and have not had to pay. A 2nd person said "you know how many times we hear that!" She continue to repeat that again and again and acted like we were not telling the truth. It was as if she was trying to pick a fight to prevent us from boarding the plane. The 2nd person went on to say that if we prepay for the 2nd carry on it would only be $30(return flight it was $41) not the $75 we will need to pay at the gate. She asked if we had a spousal ID of which we told her that we didn't know what that was and had never been asked that before. At that point my wife who was sanding behind me stopped saying anything. The 2nd person then said to my wife in a loud voice "Do not ignore me and I am just going to stop talking to you." She became very confrontational and states she would see us again as she was our gate agent. Obviously that was a threat! I paid for the 2nd carry on and we left the counter. We went to the gate and waited for our flight to be called. As we scanned our boarding pass and stated our names as the gate agent had told the flight passengers many time over the PA. We said nothing to the gate agent trying to just get on with our trip. In a sarcastic voice she states,"well I hope you feel better" I then asked her for her name and she told me it was Tammy. I ask for her full name and she told me we do not give our full name. I said nothing else and turned to walk on the plane. My Daughter was right behind me( the gate agent did not know she was my daughter) . The gate agent told another person "they know what they did." I have traveled many times with Allegiant and I have never been treated like this. We have found everyone to be professional, polite and helpful, always thanking me for my service. The last time my wife and I traveled with Allegiant I asked the person checking us in if my wife also got free bags and was told that as long as she was traveling with me then she did get free bags so when we were told that we needed to pay for the 2nd carry on you can see how we would question it. read more

So far it is a horrible experience flying Allegiant Air. If we could get off the ground it would be awesome! The flight has been significantly delayed without explanation. The weather is great at the departure and landing airports. The crew is just standing at the front doing nothing. When asked, "Why the delay?" We are told maintenance paperwork. How long does it take to fill out paperwork?!! The steward's voice making the announcements was so soft you couldn't even hear the safety instructions. Besides the awesome legroom, this plane has nothing. I'm sorry, but if you are going to make us get in at 12:30am in the morning, we need much better treatment. So far I am not a fan! read more

Allegiant Airlines does not conduct "Best effort possible" as they say they would in their "Contract of Carriage" and their customer service is rude and ignorant. On December 11,2025 I waited at assigned gate for departure at Harry Reid airport hours before flight was to take off. My gate was changed, and I was never notified via announcement or text. Other airlines I flown texted me when gate{s} changed. I found out the gate changed when I wondered why we were not boarding the plane yet. I looked at the boarding gate, and my flight was not on the monitor anymore. I went to new gate at the time my flight was to take off. I was told the flight left already seven minutes earlier than it should have. Another gentleman missed the flight too. I called Allegiant Customer Service and waited about 15 minutes before I got talk to someone. I was told they can book me on the next flight. Well, the next flight was over three days away. I told the representative I can't afford to wait three days for the next flight. I was then offered a flight the next day at an airport 85 miles away. I explained that my car was at my airport and how will get there from the airport you would fly me to? I asked to speak to a supervisor, the representative talked to the supervisor and reported back to me that my missing the flight was my fault, they would do nothing else. I bought a ticket from another airline for $600 so I could get home in 12 hours. After getting home I called Allegiant inquiring for a complaint form where I can write my story on why I believe it was not my fault for missing my flight. The representative said the issue was already handled and my missing the flight was my fault and she left the conversation. Allegiant's "Contract of Carriage" is a document that basically voids them of any fault for a customer missing their flight. Allegiant did not conduct "Best Effort Given" as stated in the "Contract of Carriage", I was not given messages. The flight left earlier than the departure time given on my boarding pass without notification. Allegiant takes no blame and demonstrates no empathy for their customers. I am 67 years old. Flown many times. This was the first time I flew using Allegiant, this is the first time in my life I missed a flight. Never will fly Allegiant again! read more

We went from Rickenbacker international airport to Orlando Sanford direct. Sadly our trip was short notice and during a holiday week so while it was cheaper than other options it was still price, but you don't get much choice in timing when people die. The airport was only 2 gates and this is the only airline that uses it so you don't have to worry about getting lost. You enter the building and eventually someone shows up to chevk your luggage then you quickly go through TSA and immediately up the escalator to the gates. The entire building is very small so an easy walk. Little cafe, electronics vending, and bathrooms at the gates. They always claim arrive 2 hours early, but I really do not agree. The whole check in and TSA process couldn't have taken more than half an hour total since the line isn't very long for a single plane load. Be sure to bring a book or something to do as you will be waiting a while. The flight was delayed about 40 minutes and a frequent flyer beside us said this is extremely common for Allegiant. They also allow small pets on the flight as long as they fit in a small carrier so that was nice. The pets do not have to be service, ESA, or anything, but there is an extra fee. There is also a fee for carry ons, but not small purses so be careful on packing. If you or your family is a veteran then be sure to use the 2 free checked bags option. We just assigned my bag to him ti save on the charge. Be sure to not prepay for your checked bags as if you prepay then tell them the veteran status at bag check they mark in the system and make you call customer service (on hold 34 min) to get a refund. The airplanes are decent leg room especially if you get the exit row (extra fee). Be aware they ask if you can handle the exit doors in event of an emergency so do not book this row if disabled or unable otherwise they will move you. Thin seats so probably bad for long flights, but extra leg room. Get the app! Helps track delays, boarding tickets (printing onsite is $5), and even rental car. read more

During our recent flight from Myrtle Beach to Rickenbacker on Father's Day, the overall experience was satisfactory. The flight proceeded smoothly, with a seamless takeoff, landing, and minimal turbulence. Onboard, we had a team of four flight attendants, three of whom carried out their duties effectively. However, one of the attendants exhibited concerning behavior. She displayed signs that suggested she may have been under the influence of some substance, as her actions appeared erratic and unusual. Additionally, we overheard her speaking in a sharp tone, expressing frustration regarding passengers fastening their seat belts and storing their luggage. Throughout the duration of the flight, she maintained a displeased expression, causing several passengers to comment on her apparent state. Okay so we all know the saying "You get what you pay for" This should be the slogan for Allegiant. I spent a total of 4 hours waiting for a 1 hour flight to leave. 1 of those hours was waiting on the plane with screaming kids. Now I don't have a problem with screaming kids on flights because it happens. What I do have a problem with is a airline boarding a flight then making people wait a hour on the plane before the flight leaves. They told us that they needed maintenance to JUST sign off for the plane to leave and it would take 10-15 minutes well it really took 60 minutes! I like anyone else that likes to save money was enticed in to a low fare price and a direct flight. Needless to say I should have just spent the money and purchased a flight with a major airline and took my chances with a connecting flight. I have spent so much time waiting that I was able to write this review. We are now going on a 1.5 hour wait on the flight. The people are getting upset. The plane just cut off then cut back on and the pilot said that it would be another 5 minutes before take off. We finally took off. The only positive thing about this flight was the flight attendants. They were nice. I hope they get paid well. If you have made it this far in to my review then you have probably guessed.... I will not be using this airline again! read more

I love Allegiant so much! From Columbus, I can go see my son in Jacksonville in the same amount of time as it takes to drive to my daughter in Cleveland for about the same price. Well, almost. ;) Once you learn your way around the differences, it is as comfortable as any other airline and as dependable. I have had delays on every airline! It can't be helped. What I love is the non-stop flights and, oh yeah. The PRICE! My family can get together more often and I can escape the bad weather whenever I want to. They get NO stars. We were suppose to have a voucher that lasted two years after my husband tried to surprise me with a Key West trip for Christmas. We had to reschedule since I was starting a new job. He lost over one hundred dollars but they emailed him a voucher for $249. When we tried to claim it for a family trip, the balance was zero. We have not been on a trip since July 2020. This will be my first vacation since I started this job the beginning of the year. I checked our account to see if it was cashed out, but it wasn't. No one has access to my husband's account but him. It was like pulling teeth to get him to go on this trip because of his work hours, I know he hasn't taken a vacation. My question is, who else had access to that voucher? The person who sent it. Something doesn't smell right. How many times has this happened with this company? The flying Greyhound! Taking air travel to a new low level. That's the downside. The upside is also a low level...fare wise. Last time I flew to Nola it cost $1200 for two of us and a layover in Orlando. And terrible travel times. Flying on Allegiant...$350. What a difference. And it was a straight thru flight...I can put up with a hard seat that doesn't recline for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I can put up with almost anything for that period of time. And I was in Nola for breakfast!!!! The other downside was the weight limit on luggage. 40 pounds a bag. I really had to evaluate everything I took. Everything. Still, I was able to do it with just enough to wear for the length of my trip. A bottle of water was $2 - nothing is free on Allegiant. And I hate a $2 charge...but they don't accept money...just plastic. So if you can fly Allegiant, I would encourage you to do it. But just for short flights. I would not enjoy flying to Hawaii on that seat with no personal space. I will fly them to Nola as soon as I can! read more

I am a dialysis patient who has traveled with Allegiant many times since moving to Florida several years ago. y last flight was so troubling. I fly with a dialysis machine (a life sustaining medical device) that weighs approximately 90 pounds. I always call the airline and prepare them for this situation, but upon flying home from LCK I was charged a fee of $75.00 for the transport of my medical device. I not only have a problem with that but the ""agent" who was to assist me was very out of line. When I tried to explain to her that a medical device should not be charged, she only disputed loudly that it was "overweight and inappropriately packed". Mind you this was not only a trip back from my destination Allegiant took me to but the first time I have ever been demanded to pay for transport my medical equipment. It is carried in the box it was delivered to me in and has handles. All information about the machine is on the outside and it is the only way I can safely travel with it. As we disagreed, she became louder and more disrespectful. I asked her name and she said "Adina". I asked to please spell that and if I could have her employee number and she replied she could not spell it and no I could not have any associate number. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she stated she was the highest supervisor available. I could not believe this was how her staff was watching her "work". I have never been more embarrassed, humiliated and disrespected in my life. My mom, who was traveling with me, asked her to calm down and lower her voice, Adina's' response was "well she started it so I can talk to her however I want." She was NOT going to let me on my flight without the fee. Never ever have I been charged a fee and made to feel like such a burden as a consumer. There as a crowd of employees and other travelers looking on leaving me to feel like she was divulging my health information,(HIPPA) I try to be so vigilant in traveling because I know this is not an everyday situation, but to be treated the way I was was very uncalled for.I did come home and contact the FAA about the situation. as of today, no reply. read more

With no bells or whistles, Allegiant's one-way fare from Columbus to Punta Gorda was the cost of a cab fare to the airport. Nice. But such cheap tixs can often come with massive discomfort, massive delays, and a roller coaster ride over light turbulence in a too cheap plane. I was hesitant, but greed won out and I bought the pass. I am very satified with my trip throughout. Allegiant's app makes for an easy way to check-in, scan boarding passes, and keep tabs on takeoff and arrival times. The gate team is very well trained and the boarding process is orderly. My hour-an-a-half flight was made in Airbus A320; a smaller jet with three seats flanking an aisle. Yet surprisingly there was enough leg room for a 6'3 man like myself. There was some rocking of the plane when it hit roughs spots, but compared to some experiences I've had with smaller jets, its reaction to turbulence was barely nothing. We tookoff about 10-minutes behind schedule, which is pretty average for the major airline. There are stewards aboard, about four of them. There is no comp drinks or eats though, everything must be bought--and like a movie theatre it's price to the primo. They also take you on carry-on and cargo baggage--it's how they make their money. Luckily, I sent my clothing before hand so escape those charges. They don't take cash so have your cards ready. So if you decide to forgo the heavy prices at the majors for a discount flyer I suggest Allegiant. They fly out of Rickenbacker and the go to many sub-tropic places. It's not a bad flight. read more

We used Allegiant for a year to fly to Florida for work. 95% of the airline crew staff was awesome. We had a few instances here the flight attendants apparently hated their job. While that really stunk, the nice lady working the snack stand never stopped smiling and taking care of customers. Would be a five except they don't care about safety during the Covid pandemic. I did not pay the extra fee for my wife and me to choose our seats on the return trip from Florida. We were seated in a group of three to four consecutive rows toward the back of the plane rows that were packed three across as our punishment on a less than half full flight. There were entire rows empty toward the front-as many as six consecutive. Nobody could change seats however, due to "even weight distribution" being disrupted. Yeah, right. My wife was stuck next to two women who each nursed a bloody mary for the entire 1 hr. 45 min. flight so they wouldn't have to wear a mask. And to top it off they never shut up the entire flight, so there mouths were constantly spewing germs. Until this pandemic ends, I suggest you pony up the extra ransom to choose your seat if you are going to fly with this airline. Me? I'm going to fly the airline that is keeping all middle seats open. At what price? Granted Allegiant's fares are lower. But at what COST? Their seats must have all of 1/2" padding IF that and your rear end and back are sore at the end of the flight. I was really happy with my allegiant flight. They do start with low fares and then nickel and dime, but it was still a really inexpensive flight. I only took a carry on-no checked bag, but that worked for my short weekend away. I paid $21 to pick my seat in the front row- a good decision since the plane was crowded. I am writing this review for my wife since she is still pretty shook up. This incident took place on 7/20/17 flight 533 from CVG to Las Vegas...The flight was delayed 2 times(for mechanical issues?) so finally after almost 4 hours the plane was loaded with passengers and we took off for Las Vegas. After only 3 minutes we knew there was trouble. There was a loud booming noise, the plane shuddered and there was smoke in the cabin area. People were crying, flight attendants totally lost it and they were running up and down the aisle. The plane circled around and quickly made an emergency landing. The Captain/Pilot made an announcement that the plane had an engine that blew up and that he had never seen this happen ever. Firetrucks were everywhere, thank God. The passengers were ALL upset and the ramifications hit home for most of them as we exited the plane and everyone realized how serious the incident was. When this airline made the announcement that they would be continuing the flight with another plane NO ONE got in line for that flight. EVERYONE got in line for a refund and made arrangements for a different airline. Further inspection reveals that this plane was old and in very rough condition. At some point these second hand planes need to be retired and this particular plane is one of those. read more

Back in February my wife and daughter wanted to go see my wife's cousin in Florida from C-bus, Ohio. They booked two round trip tickets and paid for seat upgrades and one checked bag each. This is supposed to be a new economy airline out Rickenbacker flying to secondary airports. Their policies are rigid. There are all kinds of hidden fees (baggage, seat, boarding, etc.) They charge for everything. Their refund policy is pretty much non-existent. If you don't buy their Flex at $75 per leg you pretty much forfeit your ticket if you can't fly as scheduled. This isn't the deal it hyped to be. My suggestion...fly Southwest! I've never written a Yelp review, but I was so turned off by this airline I felt it appropriate to do so. read more

Our flight home was canceled. To make it worse, they have yet to even refund the money almost 4 weeks later. The 1pm flight from Savannah to Columbus (5/29/2017) was first delayed then rescheduled at 3pm then canceled around 6pm. Even worse, they only fly out twice a week. Flying home with Allegiant would mean at least 4 more nights at a hotel and missed work back at home. I tried to communicate with Allegiant yesterday (6/22/2017). The email response said it may take up to 60 days. Next I tried their phone number to as how I should be asking for a refund since they didn't automatically issue one. The phone number was out of order. If your wondering, we took a rental car one way back home. Not cheap! I need to restate that even their phone number 1-702-505-8888 works. The planes are old and not a smooth flight down to Savannah. Delta also has a non stop between Cbus and Savannah. I would recommend trying it over Allegaint. Or just DRIVE! read more

My experience has been great flying throguj Allegiant until my current trip. When we arrived to the airport the TSA was late and just coming to work at 11am. Also our Pilots and flight attendants were just coming in 30 minutes before our flight was supposed to take off. 30 mins after everyone boarded and waiting for take off an announcement was made that a light bulb needing replaced and a mechanic was onsite to replace it. They said it would be a quick swap but 30 minutes later they ask everyone to leave the plane stating our flight was delayed by 2 hours because they could not find a LIGHT BULB! As everyone is back in the airport, another announcement was made that the Captain was not feeling good and that we were getting a different plane and pilot. I'm not sure what was going on but it sounded like he may have been hungover or actually sick, they could've came up with a better reason to delay our flight. I think there should be real changes when it comes to Allegiant's employees training. I want to feel safe and have correct information given and not some made up terrible lie. read more

Unfortunately I did not read reviews before booking this airline. Flight was to depart tonight at 6:50pm. Delayed until 8:45pm. That's a 2 HOUR DELAY for NO reason. The airline requests you arrive 2 hours before your departure. 4 hours sitting in Rickenbacker airport doing nothing. What a waste. Will never use this airline again. read more
