This place is not your typical Cape Cod souvenir store. Instead, you'll walk into a haven of used vinyl, racks of band T-shirts, enamel pins, and patches. The kind of vibe that makes you want to hang out for way too long. The record selection is surprisingly deep. You can tell the person curating it actually loves music. It's the kind of place that feels like a secret, even if it's right on Main Street. If you're into music, style, or just trying to avoid another overpriced hoodie that smells like sunscreen, this store is a must. read more

This place is awesome!!! So many things to look at. Many different kinds of music, t shirts, posters and more! Definitely a good spot to hit if you're visiting Cape Cod, such as myself read more

Yup, yup, yup! A darn fine store! Been coming here for more than a decade. Lots of great new and used vinyl. A wide selection too of independent labels, commercial, and just some odd-ball records. Always worth digging around for an hour. Great prices. The used and vintage vinyl are all in VG and higher condition. Wicked good staff. No negatives whatsoever - a must visit, and we will certainly revisit next time we are down in Hyannis. read more

Really cool record shop. There aren't many record shops on the cape which is pretty sad but every time I'm there on vacation I stop at Spinnaker and I hardly ever leave empty handed. For the most part their prices are reasonable but once in a while I'll come across something I feel they are asking way too much for but I think that's mostly because of where they are located. If you like buying music it's definitely a good place to shop. They also have action figures, games etc. read more

Love this place. There's so much to look at, from records, to posters, to stickers, to funko pops, to band shirts, to pins...the list goes on and on really. There's seriously something for everyone of all ages. Set some sort of alarm on your phone because if you're anything like me, you'll be in this place for close to an hour...which isn't a bad thing ;) read more

Big store, almost too much to see. Some interesting Disney and soundtracks, plus a bunch of Japanese Godzilla records

Great selection of records. Cool posters. Very clean record store. Decent prices also. read more

dude i fucking love this place so much. perfect place for people who love music and some other silly stuff. the service there is amazing, i see everything that im looking for, and the price isnt that much! i love this place honestly. also ALSO, if you're looking for a vinyl/cd of something that you cant find, they can order it for you????? WHAT? this place is amazing (im not a hired actor dont worry) read more

Absolutely insane selection of everything you could possibly want out of a record store. Reminded me of all the places I'd go as a kid in the '90s, places in California that just aren't there anymore. If a record store has new releases but a vibe that fits the past, you know you've found some place special. They also had a ton of Grateful Dead stuff, like a live CD that was released the day I just happened to visit, and it was already in stock (I heard the owner's a Deadhead). Great place to spend your whole paycheck and not feel guilty about it because you know you're gonna listen to your purchases for the rest of your days. "If you get confused, listen to the music play" read more

Their collection of new and sealed indie/alt/rock records was formidable and priced reasonably. I ended up spending almost $300 because I could find many LP's (Endtroducing, Slanted and Enchanted etc) I had wanted but had not wanted to pay for shipping. Ouch but in a good way. I rate it 4 stars because I was looking for that all important "new used arrivals bin" and they didn't have one. As such, their used records selection was mediocre. According to the person at the cashier, it "gets picked over pretty quickly". For new records, the selection was impressive. Friendly employees and a pleasurable browsing experience. read more

nice clean location, well organized with an excellent selection of new records, RSD finds, and plenty of used to explore

Spinnaker is a staple of Hyannis, a staple of Cape Cod. A staple in the stapler of life that holds together the vinyl hopes of the country. It's JAM PACKED with CDs, records, posters, tshirts, DVDS and lots of stuff any music lover, TV buff, or nerd would love. What's there not to love? In the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis lies Newbury Comics which has a similar vibe, but I like Spinnaker way more. I've been coming here since before I can remember and there is always something cool to check out. They have such an insane collection of random things that you will never find elsewhere. The shirts alone are rare and diverse. The records are fun to go through and I pick one up every once and a while. The whole shop is like a pop culture pot of gold. They say "support your local record shop" and I couldn't agree more. Life and the Cape would be an emptier place without Spinnaker Records. read more

My husband Jay spends too much money here, but hey, whatever makes him happy. There's so much to buy. Tshirts, movies, lots of records, toys, books, games. If it's something fun you're looking for, then you're in the right place. The people that work there are super nice and helpful, and they always have good music playing. read more

Awesome record shop in a fun part of town. I make a couple trips from Foxboro now and then to visit. They've got an awesome selection of vinyl, movies, and t shirts. Lots of great gems in the vinyl area. Great for metal heads. Great for horror fans. My only complaint is sometimes the prices are a little high on certain things. Mostly movies are a bit expensive, but I've found some awesome finds, so I suppose it was worth it! read more

I've been to a ton of record stores around the country, and this is easily the best one I've been to not just in Massachusetts but easily the whole east coast. There's something for everyone here- seriously! A ton of overstock from Record Store Days of past years, including RSD imports. A super comprehensive jazz section which was refreshing! There were Beatles rarities that I've only ever seen online. More movie soundtracks than I've ever seen in person too! The staff were super friendly, and the prices were all comparable to the going rate on discogs. I had a smile on my face the whole time. It was a six hour round trip for me, but it was definitely worth it for the crazy finds i got. I'll definitely be back! read more

Place was sick- that being said, it's pretty pricey. But hell, it's Cape Cod what do you expect! Good selection of music t shirts, with stuff you never see anywhere...like officially licensed Paul Butterfield t shirts. But did I mention it was pricey? read more

Go local- wherever you are! Wherever I travel if it's more than a day or two, I inevitably take a look to see if that place has a "real" record store. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Cape Cod is NOT all just about food and tourist shopping, but yes, they also have a couple of REAL record stores too! This one was closest and seemed the most promising so I went that day to check it out. Very Good selection for its size, and the prices are decent (though not great) too. Overall the organization was OK. Mostly easy to find categories and bands, but some of the racks were jammed a bit tight, and the aisles a bit crowded in some cases. Really, in the end, what's most important is selection and variety, which they definitely had, and that they are still going strong! Why another reviewer would gripe that some of the CDs he picked weren't be sold as "2 for $5" is beyond me. The store wouldn't be in business if it just gave away its stuff! Ditto for the outrage about bootleg posters (assuming they are anyway). Seriously? We are not talking millions in sales here folks. A poster made from some fan photos isn't going matter in the grand scheme of things. It's more than likely that the posters were "real" but just not great quality. Anyway, so glad to see this place is still going in 2015! read more

Spinnakers is one of the staples of Main St. Hyannis. Now that Newbury Comics has moved to the Cape Cod Mall, Spinnakers is the only record shop with a local atmosphere. It's the kind of place that most teenagers used to dream about working at. It's High Fidelity-esque. Inside, you'll find CDs, DVDs, vinyl, action figures, T-shirts, posters, and more fun stuff. I always enjoy looking around and running into some amazing finds in the miscellaneous CD sections. Now that CD sales are plummeting, I really hope this shop sticks around. I usually stop by every time I'm on Cape and usually walk away with some music that was lost in time and can't be found online. If you're a music fan, you'll run into some used CDs or records that will make you wonder how they got there. They also have locations in Falmouth and P-Town (called Strangeways). read more

Support your local record stores! Oh sure, everything is online now. Tell me this, though. Can you get that just browsing feeling. Physically looking at various merchandise and just soaking up the vibes by using a computer???????????? Didn't think so. Are you looking for that Beatles poster or rare cd for your collection? It's here. DVD from any genre you can think of? Right over on that wall. Pop culture t shirt or action figure that might be a little bit harder to find? Here. This is a must stop place whenever I find myself in Hyannis. They really fit a lot of things into such a relatively small space. Just about every band and genre of movie is represented here. You can generally be left alone to browse which is a nice touch. Although the staff strikes me as people who know their stuff. Call it a hunch or what you will. These are the experiences you can not just get any old place. I half expect John Cusack from High Fidelity to walk though any minute. That is definitely not a bad thing. So, support your local record stores before we are all forced to convert to a chip in our brains where we will eventually receive all information and entertainment! read more

I lived in Hyannis for a bunch of years, and since I've been collecting records/Cds for decades, Spinnaker Records was my twice-a-week hangout. They get a lot of used records in on an almost daily basis and while the business has taken both down and up turns, vinyl is now the big deal these days. I'm glad they were able to survive the building problems and covid as well as "dead business" times. Prices for used records has always been fair and continues to be. They've changed over the years and so has their customers. T Shirts and DVDs used to be the IT thing. If you pick up records, just have a good idea of what things are worth as both bargains and some pitfalls can be abound. Have your record cleaning game in good shape at home too. Regardless, this is where I enjoy shopping for my habit and I always look forward to walking in to see Cam and Randy. They're good people. I've seen buildings rise and fall since I've lived there, but Spinnaker has stayed steady and dynamic with the times. read more

Really neat shirts (for bands/television/movies), cheap used vinyl and great nostalgic action figures/bobble-heads! Tons of used dvds & cds for decent prices, they have cheap 2 for $5 cd section but it was tough to figure out the order of sections. Really great selection of new and used vinyl. Customer service was definitely lacking, but I think its because they know their clientele and most of their shoppers probably want to be left alone to browse. Staff mostly stood behind the front counter away from the sales floor for the entire hour we were in this shop. Will definitely visit this shop again when I have more time to browse. read more

Loved this store to the max until I spoke to one of the clerks that said all he really cared about was money. Very sad. I probably won't be back. Such a cool place -- to bad the staff has a bad attitude. read more

One of my favorite shops to go to. Stop in every time I'm on the cape and always find stuff I can't get anywhere else.

I stopped in with my family while on vacation. We all have very different tastes in music but we discovered that they carry a little of everything for everyone. Everything you want and never knew you needed! I really wish there where more music stores like this place in existence. Where have they all gone? read more

Any of you old enough to remember the heyday of late 20th century music when you really had to work to seek hidden treasures out at your local record store (or the cut-out bin at the mall) will have some serious deja vu in this place. So much vinyl, both new and used. Their .99 bins are great and I could sift through them for hours! If you like vintage vinyl this place is great! Also a nice selection of 45's. And the records have hardly a flaw on them! I purchased three records and it came to about $18, not bad! They also have cd's both new and used as well as vintage style posters and t-shirts. I didn't go through those items because I literally could have sat on the floor in front of the .99 records for hours if I had more time. I will definitely be back to do just that! read more

Fantastic Store-- I have been going to Spinnaker's since 1985- 32 years--I cannot go into this shop without buying something--- Recently bought a VERY RARE 3CD Rockabilly Set- But, once a got home I thought I had bought this as the one I had at home was the same title, box, and cove picture and, but as I did open the new one it was Volume 2, and the one I had purchased was Volume 1--go figure-- 6 CD's with 150 different tracks and to boot they were ALL very rare to find--but, Cam had both Box sets--go figure, Only at Spinnaker Records--Like music GO There Thanks, Cam read more

Really big 2-for-$5 CD section. The selection in the 2-for-$5 bin is a lot like the CD selection at a Goodwill (think platinum '90s albums that you'd never listen to), but I found 3 right away that I wanted. Also a similar $5 DVD wall. All in all I picked up 3 CD's and 1 TV Season Boxset for under $25. read more

Pretty good shop. Keeping up with the new trends, although they never stopped stocking records, their vinyl collection has improved immmensely over the last few years. They stock mostly rock although they do have a decent amount of jazz and blues. The prices can be on the high side but they always have a good amount of used to pick through. Their policy of not play grading is unfortunate but I'm glad they are here and would recommend them to any music fan passing through. read more

With vinyl making a very expensive come back, record stores are starting to sell ridiculously over priced reissues. It is great to find stores like Spinnaker that actually have the original records and for reasonable prices. Picked up some seriously deep cuts on the last trip there. read more

If you like buying vinyl, CDs, Rock Ts and memorabilia, this is a great store. He has lots of vinyl both new and used! Seems like the specialty is in rate titles. I bought a Reissued of a Rush radio broadcast on vinyl. Prices are fair. Must stop for the music lover when visiting the cape. read more

I used to enjoy going to Spinakker Records to check through the 2 for $5 rack. The last time, however, I took my stack of cd's to the register, only to be told that most of them weren't supposed to be 2 for 5. The thing is, there were multiple copies of some of the disks there, so it's not like someone took them from another rack (the regular disks are in special cases, so that would be unlikely anyway). So, I wasted a lot of time, and Spinakker lost a customer. read more

The wife had long wanted to visit Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. We took a side trip to Hyannis, where I hung out at Spinnaker while wife and daughter shopped. What an awesome place. First, of course it had lots of vinyl. The LPs were well organized by musical style. Vinyl selection was quite good. In addition to the albums, they also had an incredible T shirt collection. But my favorite part was the back wall of the vinyl section. There they had old stereo equipment, including speakers and turntables. I scored a nice Dual turntable, plus a nice set of Realisitc Minimus 7 speakers (which I resell on Ebay.) This store was the highlight of my trip. read more
