Fabulous place. Elegant. Inviting. Cool. Urban. Great place for a group, a date, a birthday, whatever. I was really blown away and impressed with the art, the layout, and the vibes. We had cocktails and appetizers at the bar. Closed our tabs and went over to our reserved ping pong table and lounge area. I think it's $10 per hour?? We all played during our reserved hour, took turns and had a mini-mash-up-ping-pong-tournament and made our own rules! Lot's of fun. We were hanging out, talking, socializing and when I looked up, I noticed they cleared my drink and water away at about 8:45pm. I was surprised because nobody asked if we were done. They just cleared the area, our glasses, the nice water bottles, everything and our coats and handbags were still there so it was obvious we were there, our backs were turned. It was pretty empty and not all the way packed nor super busy. So I couldn't understand. I'm saying this because drinks were $14 bucks so that was disappointing. When they served our pizza, it was served without napkins, silverware, nor plates. So we asked for those items and had to wait while the $20 pizza became cold. I shared it with a friend and he asked where were the napkins and silverware? I told him I had already asked. So he asked again. And we waited while our $20 pizza was getting cold. Typically, when pizza is served they bring out the plates and silverware first, then the pizza. So that is my minus 2 stars due to lack of attention to detail. I had a great time and I would go back again. Hopefully they can get the service down a pinch smoother and not remove drinks before folks are done or ask first. read more

We went for the $10 an hour deal on Friday night. I would not pay $50 for this but the $10 was worth it on Fridays and Saturdays. I liked how there were lots of balls and people working there that picked up balls and refilled our baskets by the ping-pong tables. o I stumbled upon Spin by default. I was headed to the ORCHESTRA NOIR concert at the Warner Theater and wanted a drink and a snack. I went to proper 21 but the bar was full so I decided to head across the street. This was in the basement but the music instantly caught my attention. We made the mistake of sitting at the bar ordering drinks for an hour then putting our name on the list. We were giving a 2 hour wait time. It is a phenomenal business concept and could generate substantial profit however it is by far has the worst customer service of any establishment I have been to thus far in DC. Sheresa is rude and condescending while rolling her eyes and looking disgusted at you while you ask a legitimate question. It is not worth the money ($50 for one hour of ping pong if they let you use your table the entire time.) It is very unfortunate our group traveling all over the country to meet here had TWO horrible experiences at this bar. One of my friends reserved a table at SPIN on Saturday night, and we truly had a blast. I ordered the "curious george" cocktail, made with Roku gin, and it was super refreshing and came in a cute glass. The drinks were actually priced reasonably for DC too ($11-$13ish for cocktails)! I was really looking forward to coming here since it opened and I was finally able to stop by with a couple of friends for the tail end of happy hour. We got downstairs and we were greeted by the ladies at the desk as soon as we got there. We were informed that there was a wait to get a ping pong table but were also pointed to the bar where there was a bunch of open a seats. We were greeted by the bartender and given some happy hour menus. The deals here were pretty good as far as drafts and foods. I decided on the $8 seasonal mule and the $7 hop pop chicken. My friends also got the hop pop chicken, another mule,fries for $6, and a come heering for $8 as well. The mule was delicious, and almost didn't taste any alcohol so potentially dangerous. The hop pop chicken was nice and crispy, not oily and the ginger buttermilk was a great condiment. My friends wanted more of that dip but couldn't get any. It was super busy though so it's understandable. Now to the problem... We had to get going to make a reservation so I got the bartender's attention and asked if we could close out so I gave her all three of our names on our cards. My two friends got their cards but I got the wrong card and bill. I let her know that I got the wrong stuff so she called a manager (I think?) over to assist her and she gave me the right card and bill. I signed the bill and we went on our way. My bank account had two pending charges at the time but I assumed it would clear up after the weekend. When I checked my account after the weekend, I only had one charge but it was ~$35 over what I signed for on the second bill! Not sure what happened but it's definitely not cool and now I have to deal with my bank. I understand mistakes happen but this is a pretty big one. Dog. We (at least 3 of us in a party) have come here two consecutive days. The first day, we joined the crowd, enjoyed drinks at the bar, and tried to play ping pong (as advertised, and after speaking to the closest party's to the table). Very quickly we were ushered off the table with the statement that the table was "reserved for a party". Fine. We move on. We then got more drinks (the point to show we have spent a substantial amount of money) and spoke to a couple about playing on a table, they responded that we could absolutely play on the table, so we did. Not soon after we were approached again and informed that we needed to "pay 50$ to reserve and play on a table". They were scheduled to close in 42 minutes, and the 50$ was for 1 hour. So we declined and went to the bar again. Drank and left with no issue or complaint. We came back again the next day, Friday. We reserved a table. We spent money at the bar while we waited for our table. We were never told where the table was. Once we noticed the start time (that they did provide) We had to find a worker to show us where to play. Fine. We went through the nonsense, no complaints. About 5 minutes to the end of our time, we were approached by a worker of the business (he was wearing a shirt of the establishment), he told us to return a ping pong shot from him to receive an extra 30 minutes on our time. We beat him. He gave us a card. We tried to apply it to our table, and were immediately told it cannot be used in the same night. The card specifically stated it could only be used on Friday nights- the night we were there. Overall the location and the place were fantastic, the employees on the other hand, ass. Ruined the experience completely for my group of friends (who I brought to support said business). read more

Passed by here one day from lunch and being unfamiliar with this brand, I assumed this was a workout spot (spin classes perhaps?!!). Being the dedicated Yelper that I am, I immediately looked them up and saw that it is NOT for spin classes, but you could get a workout in playing ping pong. Yesterday I decided to stop by and check out their happy hour vibes. For a place that's only been open about a month, it was packed! It's quite spacious and great for groups. I've already recommended it to my monthly happy hour group coordinator and we'll be back here soon. I haven't played ping pong in over a decade but we'll see if I still got any skills. All the bartenders were very nice. I struck up a great conversation with Yehesuha and he made an excellent mule cocktail for me! He also mentioned they plan to extend their hours once they have their grand opening and offer brunch on weekends. This restaurant gets four stars for the vibes. I hesitated between giving this place at three or a four. SPIN DC is your typical millennial bar. It has a lot of great features and a lot of potential so the next time I go I will update my review. My first thought was that it would be a great place to bring someone from out of town. Located in the basement, there is ample space to do just about anything. The lighting is dark, giving off a divey side. Don't be misled by the pictures, when I walked in I saw many people eating and drinking. My friend and I opted to sit at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. It didn't take long to get their attention. We decided to get appetizers and drinks. I got the tacos (I can't remember which kind) and my friend got the duck sliders and we shared french fries and ordered mixed drinks. As the night went on, groups begin to play ping-pong and giant Jenga. While I didn't get to play giant Jenga with my friend, I like the whole unwinding concepts they have going on. The bathtub with the orange ping-pong balls is definitely a photo hotspot. Everyone wants to get their photo op in with the tub and neon sign reading "if walls could talk". Thanks to Instagram, I honed in on the various photo worthy parts of the venue. But its more than just photo ops, the environment and space was that cool. There was lots of space and even with ping pong balls flying (and fly they will!), your personal game rhythm never got disrupted. Part of it due to space but also because staff were actively collecting balls and helping to reset. So the game is fun and organized, you've taken your instaworthy photos...what about the drinks and food? Fortunately those come through! I tried the sangria and Moscow Mule, the latter being my favorite. I was there during happy hour and tried the fries (I'm obsessed with fries so my standards are high), flatbread and hop pop. It was my first time here last night for the spinbledon ping pong tournament. Nothing on the happy hour menu seemed to be a great deal, however the hop pop chicken sounded like a unique spin on popcorn chicken so I gave it a shot. The portion wasn't particularly generous but quality over quantity here. Onto what really matters...there were ping pong tables everywhere with no shortage of balls or room to move, creating the perfect ambience for this night! There was really stiff competition and we didn't do so well, but either way it was great to brush off the cobwebs and up the intensity with a little competition. Here's the dish! I am always looking for fun things to do in the city. When making plans with a friend, we both decided to do a fun activity rather than meeting for a regular dinner. I did a bit of research and settled on SPIN DC, a few blocks from the White House. Because of its location, parking can be challenging, so keep that in mind if you decide to drive. I have incredible parking Karma and was able to find a free space in a loading zone after hours a few blocks from SPIN. My friend was running a bit behind schedule, so I used this time to explore the venue a bit more and snap some pictures. SPIN is a social ping pong club in the city, and offers a full bar, menu, ping pong, and other fun games for patrons to enjoy. My first stop upon arrival was the bathroom. The stalls for women and men are separate, but the sink area is a common shared space, which I thought was interesting. Now this might not be ideal for the women who like to travel to the bathroom in packs, but it increases your chances of bumping into a cutie while on the bathroom run by yourself (or with friends). My next stop was the check-in desk, where I was helped by the very friendly Brielle. She further explained the concept to me, and signed me up for the waitlist for a ping pong table. We didn't plan ahead and make a reservation, so the wait was long--two and a half hours long! She took my name and phone number and told me I'd be texted when a table is available. At my time of arrival, there were plenty of empty tables, but because they had been reserved, you are not allowed to use them until the party arrives. While we didn't end up playing ping pong, there was a tournament going on about an hour into our visit that we were able to enjoy. We immediately knew we were out of our league after watching a few professionals play! For those who intend to play, SPIN charges $9 per person, per hour, so essentially, you and a friend can get your Forrest Gump on for less than $20 an hour. The decor at SPIN was one of my favorite things. The main area is more urban with beautiful graffiti-like murals around the walls. We ended up settling at the bar in the other area, which reminded me of a gentleman's study. The bar in this area is backed by beautiful wooden bookcases holding lots of interesting knick knacks and books. One of the highlights of the venue is their claw-foot bathtub full of ping pong balls, which is the perfect spot to grab a pic for Instagram. We settled in at the "gentleman's" bar and ordered some food. They offer signature cocktails, but have a full bar can make just about any concoction you'd like. I ordered the Butcher's Flatbread for $14 (Pepperoni, Soppressata, Fennel Sausage, San Marzano, and Mozzarella), while my friend ordered the SPIN Burger for $15 (American Cheese, Caramelized Pickled Onion, Fried Shallots, House Ketchup, Brioche Bun) with an option to add an Egg for $2 and Candied Bacon for $3, both of which my friend indulged in. The food was pretty mediocre and underwhelming for the price. With all of the restaurants within walking distance, I would probably do dinner elsewhere first before heading to SPIN to play the next time I visit. We were catching up and continuing to wait for a table to open up, when someone brought out an electronic ping pong game. It's a free game to play while you wait, and pretty fun if you aren't that great at real ping pong. In addition to this game, we saw Giant Jenga and indulged in a few smack-talking games of Giant Connect 4. We did finally get the text that a table had opened up, but we were having so much fun with Connect, we never claimed it. This is definitely a cute place for a date night or adult birthday party where you would like to do something other than a large dinner with friends. However, I would encourage all who would like to play to make a reservation ahead of time, especially if it's Friday or Saturday night. STEPH JUDGEMENT: A ping pong pub? Why not? We were checking the Yelp app for happy hours in the area and this place happened to come up. We had no idea that this was a "ping pong bar" until we got to the door, and then we were like HELL YEAH. It's a new, clean and trendy-looking bar that happens to have a lot of ping pong tables in it. You play by the hour, like bowling--I forget exactly how much it was but since we were in time for happy hour I think it was pretty reasonable. We started off with some drinks and nibbles (full bar, decent food--we had a flatbread and some other snacks) at the bar and then played ping pong for about an hour, which was more of a workout than we thought it'd be. The best part: you don't have to pick up any of the balls. You get a basket of balls by your tables and someone comes around with this contraption that picks up the balls, and then puts them back in your basket. The balls can fly fast and furious, especially as the evening wears on, but it was all good clean fun. They also have a tub filled with balls for your Instagram photo ops needs. Had such a fantastic time at Spin for my birthday. We stopped in to get out of the cold and what an unexpected delight! Our server Trip took such great care of us. She suggested a wonderful restaurant for dinner. We had a nice conversation about the city. The establishment was clean. The equipment was in fantastic condition. The service was prompt and the food was delicious that catered to our dietary restrictions. My impromptu cupcake and goodies rounded out my birthday celebration. My girlfriend and I went there last night 03/1/2024 and were treated as outcasts. We are both people who work in the restaurant industry so we know how things work. We arrived at 12:10am knowing they closed at 1am. They had 6 open ping pong tables and were refused a table bc you had to pay by the hr. We both said we would gladly pay for the hour knowing it wouldn't be an hr. Pure hatred by the manager on duty. She was a black woman wearing red pants and had long braids. Hate to say it by my girlfriend is Korean and she felt it was a direct displace of racism. So sad the manager would act like this. Even asking her; "is there a problem?" No problem we just wanted to end our night with a few games of ping pong. I believe the managers name was Sheresa. Do not go to this.
