Short Story: SPA is truly 5 star! Awesome experience! Highly recommend! Long Story: Yes, it's a long review, but if you want the details to help answer your questions, it's right here. My daughter is only 5, but already has a passion for entertaining. I researched for a company that could offer her training, exposure, and experience. I chose SPA because of all the positive reviews, the company's good standing in business, and the extensive experienced backgrounds of the people involved. This is not a company that is too good to be true. It's all true! SPA is transparent with their services; no hidden surprises or fees; and they deliver. Let's not forget: It's 2021, so everything is happening via Zoom. The show must go on; so all classes and the showcase took place online....and it went perfectly! We live in Las Vegas, so this being offered online gave my daughter an opportunity she would not have been able to experience otherwise. SPA ran their online program smoothly and professionally, without a hitch. That's a huge plus! What is charged for classes and a showcase is fairly priced. It's more than that though. The team is available for questions and guidance. Joe Lorenzo seems available 24/7. I've never had a time that he hasn't responded to me promptly and with a well thought out, helpful response. The coaches know how to teach children in a way they understand and can relate. My daughter has learned so much and has really grown from this experience! I too have learned a tremendous amount! SPA offers a parent class to prepare us, not only for the showcase, but also for the entertainment industry. They teach what to expect, and what is expected of you, at showcases and auditions. I've learned how to properly format a resume; all the do's and don't's. Headshots, agents, managers, lighting, what the industry is looking for....I could go on and on. What I've learned alone is worth it. The showcase was at the end of this month long training. The children were given an extensive preparation class. Each child was given individual attention to ensure they're were ready for a polished performance. The parents were also given a preparation class. I learned a great deal about a showcase; and the steps to take after to continue helping my child navigate this industry; and take advantage of the knowledge we were shared. The showcase was thrilling! Joe Lorenzo personally helped each child with lighting, screen setup, clothing choice, and how to properly introduce themselves. Very reputable agents were present. I felt that each child was given a chance to shine and feel welcome. It was a very positive experience. No matter how your showcase goes; no matter what comes of it; the classes, the workshops, and showcase; the knowledge alone, in and of itself, is worth the investment. The entire team is truly so professional and kind. I honestly have only great things to say; and truly appreciate everything they do. I wanted to share a note on Joe Lorenzo, owner of SPA. This gentleman is genuinely a good person, with his heart invested in SPA and it's students. He knows the industry and has invaluable wisdom to share. It is very apparent that his experience and dedication is echoed throughout his company. He isn't a "figure head". He responds to emails and calls. He's right there completely available and involved. Here's what hit me. It's the little things: I sent an email to Joe. He replies. I send another reply saying "thanks". He takes the time to send a "you're welcome, have a good night." He didn't have to; but that's in his nature; to go above and beyond with that something extra. That, right there, is a person that takes the time to care. He's extremely busy, but not too busy for kindness. That says a lot. Joe, his team, and his company are the real deal. My son has been a part of Society Performers for over 3 years and he has grown and evolved as an actor and as a person more than I could have ever imagined. It's so much less about creating a resume than the valuable lessons that our young actors, models, dancers and singers need to learn about themselves and their talent! Was my son outgoing, yes. Funny, yes, but was he well rounded? Confident enough to speak and follow instructions given from an adult in an audition room all by himself at 11-12 years old? NO, of course not! Those are just some of the important lessons my son has been blessed with by training with Society Performers Academy. Jackson did every available showcase he could prior to Covid, even after we had settled on an agent and interviewed with multiple managers and agents, before and after landing with an incredible manager, agent and agency who really had his success in mind and helped me to grow as his parent. Even after all these amazing steps were taken Joe and his staff were there for us, last minute one on one sessions for an important audition, an ear to run a questionable decision through and so much more! Even when my son took himself out of the industry during a time of self awareness and reflection mid-Covid, Joe has been a source of support and encouragementAfter about 18 months away and a year separated from his manager, agent and agency he returned to in-person school, starting high school in a new town, knowing not one soul. He was more himself after 1 day in school than we had seen since pre-Covid. He soon joined clubs, was invited onto councils, auditioned and secured a primary role in the first school production of the year! He was so incredibly proud of himself! He wears suits to school! He has made friends, he has been embraced by teachers and administration. The things that gave him his "life" back and rekindled his love for the arts are the important lessons he learned from Society Performers Academy Joe, his staff, the special guest instructors and the incredibly professional managers, agencies and agents who our children are lucky enough to be put in front of and get feedback from. Just last week my son reached out to Joe, on his own accord, to discuss doing in person showcases again, even at 15 years old he realizes how very important each step of the process provided by Society Performers actually is. If there is a greater level of reference than to highly recommend that's where our recommendation would land. I will be honest, this industry felt a bit intimidating, especially as a parent. As a result I unknowingly have resisted fully supporting the deep passion my daughter has for acting (that has not changed in her near 16 years on this earth). We come from a small community in BC Canada, the options feel more limited. Stumbling upon Society Performers feels like finding the most precious gem. At first the option to train and learn from a distance was the gift but so quickly it's been about SO much more. The opportunity and empowerment offered mixed with honesty and guidance truly left us in awe that a program like this actually exists in this industry. There is a humble confidence, an integrity that is felt from Joe Lorenzo, the owner and his entire team in both their US and Canadian divisions. This was felt through texts, zoom and validated even more after spending a week with them in person. These are really good humans who genuinely care and at the same time are truthful, who lead with their hearts AND have the expertise of decades; decades of learning, relearning, unlearning, decades of showing up, rising again each day , decades of relationships, decades of integrity. And they have chosen to share this with our passionate kids + teens. It's such a big deal. There were two things that have come up each time we hear agents, casting directors, managers share tips for inspiring actors ... 1. take classes always, keep practicing like an athlete practices for game day. This profession is a journey, over years and years with so much to navigate and experience so be sure to enjoy all the pieces, fall in love with all the pieces. I can't say enough about how amazing Society Performers / Society Performers Academy (SPA) is as an organization. I am not one who is easily convinced about . . . well . . . anything really, and do not take the idea of people working with my children lightly. Between January and March of this year, SPA CEO, Joe Lorenzo, some awesome members of his team (Amie, Lisa, Monica), and acting coaches like Steve Scott and Aimee Lynn Chadwick walked and talked me through what I needed to feel confident by assuring me that SPA was NOT A SCAM. They actually encouraged my skepticism, as they acknowledged that this industry is full of people who will pull on your (and her kiddo's) eager, hopeful heartstrings that they have what it takes. After working with SPA for a couple of months, they started to EARN my trust and I saw that this was a group of professionals who could actually be TRUSTED. My precious daughter attended SPA Nationals (SPiN) in none other than Hollywood, CA July 1-5 2022, and the entire experience was phenomenal! First Class! Miya was trained by outstanding actors/models like Aimee (again because she's FabuLouS), Samantha Jai, John Stevens (total hottie!), and Emily Nelson (remember, not all performers make for good coaches), all of whom had a huge role in my daughters success while at Nationals! It was SO WORTH IT!!! But this review isn't about my daughter. This review is about expressing how amazing Joe's organization is and how simply invaluable the knowledge he shares about this industry has been/will continue to be. Don't forget . . . regardless of what profession you're in, reputations matter . . . relationships matter! Entertainment is NO DIFFERENT. I am writing this review to highlight our experience of working with Society Performer Academy over the last 6 months and attending SPiN January 2024 in Los Angeles. Our experience with this group has been absolutely amazing. We have gained invaluable experience, insights, and connections in the entertainment industry, all of which would otherwise be completely out of our reach. Our 8-year-old has significantly developed her acting skills and had a blast along the way, and we parents have gained deep knowledge on how to maximize her chances of getting signed with an agency and booked for jobs through the resources and network SPA provides. We started with SPA at a local audition in San Antonio, TX, and were thrilled when we got a callback that day. I'll admit that I was a bit daunted by the cost initially, but based on the research we did, we took the chance to go all in with SPA and sign up to receive coaching and attend SPiN 6 months later. I am so glad we did. Following our initial sign-up in San Antonio, we went through several in-person and virtual coaching sessions, informational sessions, and auditions. This all built up to SPiN, which we just attended in Los Angeles. SPiN was out-of-this-world fantastic. Our daughter developed a crazy amount of acting skills and confidence as she went through the program's coaching sessions, auditions in front of agents, and other events over the course of just a few days. She also had a blast at the hotel, making friends, and even meeting celebrities. We parents also had a super fun time and were extremely impressed with how well-run the event was, and how authentic and quality Joe Lorenzo and his team are. I also want to highlight Joe Lorenzo, CEO of SPA. In working with Joe before and during SPiN, it is very apparent that this man and this business is 100% genuinely dedicated to helping young aspiring actors and their families get into the industry. Our 8 year old son began taking acting and singing classes with Society Performers 2 months ago. He likes to pretend and play make believe and expressed interest in being an actor/performer. Our experience thus far can only be described as outstanding. Here are just a few of the reasons... - Before you work with society performers they take the time to talk to you about what the entertainment industry is like for both a parent and a child. The consultation never felt rushed. They answered every question we had, while also offering informative advice. - They offer a wide variety of packages and times to take classes based upon your budget and schedule. - Their coaches are exceptional actors and performers in their own right. Their talent and experience is evident and if you listen to their advice you will improve after each class. Each coach has a different style but they all take the time to provide informative and thoughtful feedback to each child. - All of the coaches are disciplined about getting the most out of each class, but at the same time they work well with kids. My son enjoys the classes and has also learned to take critical feedback and strive to improve. - I get the sense that each coach really enjoys what they do. I've never felt like any coach was rushing or didn't want to be there. In fact, quite the opposite, I can see the energy they put into each class and each child to help them improve. - Once a month, they give each child the opportunity to perform for an agent that has been vetted by the company. - Their support staff is available via text message or email and they are highly responsive, friendly and easy to work with. - They keep you informed via email and social media about auditions and open casting calls. So coming from a 1st time Acting parent. I saw an ad on Facebook about acting and enrolling for classes to brighten children's future, at first I thought it was a scam especially coming from a social media, so I'm like why not there's always a try which it doesn't hurt. I signed up my niece for an audition(for free) without her knowing and see if it was a scam or not. She got a call back, we went to the studio and we looked around how safe it was and how friendly everyone was and seemed to good to be true. So gave it a second try but this time paid for some classes, was told she was going to be auditioning in the future and be taking headshots for upcoming agents that come to the business, so we're like ok seems great. My niece knew somewhat of acting coming from drama club in high school. Months passed and I can't believe I made a great decision to sign up my niece here at society performers. Bianca, Jay, Joe and other instructors are great coaches and explained during their classes/workshops what to expect in the acting industry whether famous or not and never to bring yourself down. They are patient and always give their time for the best of their students. My niece was shy at first but these coaches push the students out of their shell to speak up and be confident in themselves like how others believe in them. My niece is learning so much in this studio, has got great headshots done and also has an agent representing her for films and commercials. Short review: I would absolutely recommend SPA. We are very happy with the program. If you want to get your kid into the acting industry, SPA is the program you need if you don't have the knowledge or connections. Long review: I saw an ad on Facebook for a kids acting workshop and thought it would be Cool for my daughter to learn acting. I took her to an open audition at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, NJ. The people there were very professional and told us that this was an industry workshop and the kids would be auditioning for talent agents in a showcase at the end. They informed us about how the industry works and warned against paying talent agents up front for representation. They clearly explained that their role was to prepare the kids to be industry ready professionals which is what the top talent agencies look for when booking new talent. She auditioned, received a call back, and started the program about a week later. There is a wealth of education provided by Society Performer's Academy. Not only do they teach the children, but they teach the parents too. Joe was always on standby to answer all of my questions. The workshops were taught by real industry actors and models. They always made it clear that there is no guarantee that a talent agent will pick you. It will ultimately be up to you and your child to do the work. My daughter, Bella, has been a student here for the past 9 months and attending classes and workshops is always a highlight in her week since she loves her coaches, has made really great friendships, and visible growth in her performance abilities. When the Coronavirus Pandemic struck and forced the majority of our society to close and stay at home, our daughter was initially devastated that she wouldn't get to attend her classes. I highly recommend Society Performer Academy. We started this journey with our daughter in September knowing little to nothing about the industry. My daughter has always had a passion for acting so my husband and I took a leap of faith and it has been an amazing experience. Joe and his team are phenomenal and extremely professional. From acting class (virtual and in-person), photo shoots and showcases, they've held our hand every step of the way. Kaysen has now become more comfortable with monologues, scripts and commercials.  Her coaches Emily Nelson and Day'nah Cooper are amazing. They both offered different techniques and expertise which has been invaluable in learning different approaches. The criticism is professional and truthful. What a great experience and looking forward to the continuous help, support and guidance that we have been receiving from Joe and the entire Society Performers Academy Family! I can't believe some honestly feel this is a scam. Sometimes we have to invest more into something that, at the very least, will give our kids experience and help build knowledge. When my daughter expressed wanting to be a "famous actress," I truly did not know the first thing to do in order to help her, although I knew it wasn't going to be as easy as some may think to be "found" or "noticed" and also realized it would probably take some time and more money than we may have. After all, I don't know of many actors who just jumped right onto the big screen lol I saw an ad, requested additional information and here we are today. I looked into the company and read reviews before deciding to give it a try. Glad I did not focus on the more negative reviews, since I feel these were made by individuals who maybe did not realize that normally becoming an actor, actress, singer etc...takes more than a first audition or someone walking up to us on the street. I'd say to anyone that is serious about getting their children, or themselves for that matter, into the business and you realize it will take time and definitely be an investment, stop second guessing and go for it!
