My daughter went to Spin LA in July and honestly had the time of her life. From the moment we got involved, it felt welcoming and genuine. We felt like superstars from the moment we walked into Biltmore LA. Joe Lorenzo and his staff take care of everything and they're ALWAYS accessible. Thank you Joe...we love you!!! Some reviews say it's a scam and I disagree. This is absolutely not a scam. Yes, it costs money and it's not cheap, but it is high quality and a one-stop shop. In fact, my daughter received offers from several reputable agents and signed with a talent agency BECAUSE of Spin LA. As an added bonus, we met incredible resources along the way, including Jenn Boyce (Hollywood Prep), who has provided amazing advice and ongoing support. Joe and Jenn were exactly what mjy daugther and I needed as newcomers to the industry. Beyond the professional opportunities, my daughter bonded with kids from her acting studio (Hooray Performers Academy!) and made new friends, which made the experience even more special...she still texts with them on a weekly basis! If you want a program that delivers real results, genuine connections, in a fun and supportive environmjent, I recommend attending Spin LA...we still talk about it and remember the amazing experience.

Original email about open call audition
    Lyudmila M.

This started as an open audition for the Bandaid commercial. They told us if my daughter is selected - they gonna call us back. Byanca was the only person present from Society Performers during audition - nobody else was there. That didn't feel right. After the audition, I received a text message. It said that my daughter made it to the second audition. When i asked what's the purpose of 2nd audition, I was texted back that my daughter will be evaluated and will proceed with training so Academy can showcase her. What happened to Bandaid commercial?.. not a word about it. I came to conclusion that this is how they lure you into "auditions" - using big brand names. After "audition" I also received an email with the prices for training packages ($995-$4900 for 8 to 32 hours). Showcases that supposed to promote your kid after training are held online. In other words after you pay all this money you don't even get to meet anyone in person However they do offer SPiN Nationals event (another $5900 NOT including hotel room + extra fees like $300 for gala concert) where you get to spend 5 days in LA, do some more training and supposedly have a chance to meet with agents/talent managers/casting directors in person. However, small print reads that nothing is guaranteed: "presence of agent does not guarantee representation". This is where our journey with Society Performers has ended - after first audition. Even though I had very little interaction with Society Performers (first audition was less than 5 minutes), I am giving only one star because I felt misleaded and lured into this audition by false advertisement. Because initially, this event was advertised as an audition for Bandaid (and few other famous brands) commercial. And of course, it was not. If Society Performers Academy would be honest upfront and stated that audition was for the purpose of evaluation and further training with Society Performers and future possibility of promotion amongst possible agents/casting directors AFTER several large investments of money - I would not have come to the audition. Even though my daughter is upset and crying, I tried to keep emotions out of this review. I hope this helps someone to make a right decision.

***UPDATE SINCE YELP WONT LET ME RESPOND TO THE OWNER*** Dear Joe, 1-what you're doing is called shaming responding to any and all negative reviews about your company is shaming people. Screenshots below of how he shamed people. Before he can delete any responses.. too bad I'm too petty to be ashamed 2- No email was sent to me or the other family that was in the same audition about said packages & we let your "agent/non-agent" know 3- you keep saying "if you go to the Olympics you must train" & "if you go to college" YOUR PACKAGE ONLY OFFERS 8-32 hours HOW IS THAT ADEQUATE "Olympic" training for $995-$4900! Regretfully signed, A child crying because you killed her dreams *DO NOT DO IT** DO NOT EVEN AUDITION*** My husband signed my daughter up for the open call posted on Facebook. Looked kinda fishy, but still knowing he signed her up and would go with her kept me confident that if it was a scam he'd handle it! Fast forward to audition day. It's packed 240+ They go. She gets offered a call back where you have to create a commercial for them and use it as a script. Come next day we go to the callback and agent gives a last minute script on top of her commercial to do. All cool. Agent says "sometimes at an actual open call this may happen".. hmmm... *.. my brain says I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ACTUAL OPEN CALL AUDITION? Regardless, we head in bright eyed and bushy tailed with all my daughters hopes in her mind because in the open call ad it said something along the lines of "do you think your child has what it takes to be in a Disney show" Anywayyyyy.. she delivers her commercial.. she delivers the last minute script NOT THE BEST OBVIOUSLY. Then it all comes rolling downhill. The words that come out of the agents mouth are "Awesome you passed the audition! Now did you read your email and see which package you want?" My heart was so happy for my daughter SHE MADE IT. But my brain was so confused? What packages? We'll I've added the photo so you can see. Then of course I ask why do we need to pay for a package I thought this was an audition? Agent says "it was, you're auditioning to be a part of S.P.A" you didn't say that! So I look at the packages and see $995 as the first package which would include one showcase for which they will provide one script and monologue, and a resume consult. Packages go up to $4900. $995-$4900 for a training program for 8 hours? I work in tourism I get inflation but what am I paying for really if it only takes 8 hours. Not to mention after these kids do the 8 hour "training program" it does NOT guarantee an agent or part. Which is where I assumed the fees would start.. Now heading home not enrolled in the program so my child is in shambles because she thought if she did her very best she would be on a Disney show.. because let's face it look at your odds. Of course I think my child could be that ONE in a MILLION SHOT. But if they hold multiple auditions around America, with 240+kids and call back 24 which is how many thy called back this time and all 24 sign up for even the basic package the company gets $23880.. and they don't spend more than 8 hours to market your child. Would NOT RECOMMEND. I should have read the reviews before we took her. I also find it quite amusing how the owner "shames" anyone with a negative review.. hardy har

My daughter has had the absolute pleasure of being a part of Society Performers Academy since 2019. Since she first started at the academy, she has taken countless classes with a number of incredible teachers in both acting and singing. And the owner Joe Lorenzo has been there every step of the way. There is no denying how important Society Performers Academy is to him. He familiarizes himself with the kids and parents on a personal level and responds to questions or concerns super quickly. More often than not he is responding to an email within hours of me sending it out. I have watched my daughter grow in confidence and abilities and she has developed an understanding of the business and all the work and dedication it requires to be successful. Joe Lorenzo and his staff do not promise instant stardom for these kids. Nor should they, as the entertainment industry is a tough business. But what they do provide is a safe atmosphere to develop their skills and grow to be as successful as possible. January 2024 was special for us because our daughter finally got to attend Society Performers in nationals (SPiN). Five amazing days at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles among countless other children from all over the United States and even internationally. It was a melting pot of like-minded kids and young adults who shared similar interests and motivations. Our daughter trained and competed in front of several agents and received numerous callbacks. She performed in the Showcase event in front of a crowded ballroom. But more importantly, she made tons of new friends and gained more confidence than I could ever have imagined. She hasn't stopped talking about the event even a month later. It was an amazing experience for the entire family and the perfect vehicle for my daughter to move her young career forward. Society Performers Academy is the real deal. And gives back as much as your child (and family) put in, and then some. Highly recommended.

Real connections and training from professionals, Joe is fun, caring, and industry smart! The kids learn a lot, their confidence grows and they make a lot friends if they go to SPIN, as well as meet agents! A positive life experience for my starlet!
