The performances were spectacular - ranging from absolutely adorable to beautiful, uplifting and inspirational. It was truly a joy to watch and to cheer for all the dancers, each with their own special spark, lighting up the stage. It was equally touching to witness, throughout year and at the show, the beauty of the friendships that have developed and the sense of community that is palpable among the dancers and teachers at Fifth Row. As a parent, when I sign my children up for activities, I look for organizations, teachers and mentors that believe in nurturing the whole child and fostering a joyful and inclusive learning environment. I look for places and people that become part of my village, welcoming my children into spaces that become their second homes. With all the brainrot type of scenes that our tweens and teens are getting into, this place is a safe, clean space for our young children to flourish in their dancing. There is a positive energy and there isn't that "I'm being super cool/flashy" vibes that you would typically find at a regular dance studio. Kids are in regular t-shirts, the music is clean, the instructors are super good at what they do and very encouraging. The kids LOVE coming here. This place is a gem! My friend recommended me and me being decisive, I thought why not the class schedule works so let's give it a try. I'm glad I did!! My son LOVES it and within 3 min of starting the class, he had a big smile on his face and he can't wait to go back to the class. The best thing about the studio is the teacher, Rev. He runs the studio, teach, he is funny, great with kids and he make them feel so welcome. That is so important especially for kids, first they have to love it to want to continue it! Also in case any other moms, dads and caregivers care like I did - it's hip hop, and he picks the songs which are age appropriate :) This December they organized a holiday performance and that was fun. Many pop ups and kids shop & dance. He was running a show all by himself- unless I knew there was someone else - and never losing a smile on his face and greet everyone who came. My girls have been enrolled in Artistico for a few months now mostly doing ballet and tap...the sort of dance they primarily enjoy doing. Now they're showing interest in Hip Hop, Contemporary AND Salsa! The fact that they are willing to even try these new things tells me that it must be coming from their teachers. I think it's brilliant that kids especially can be motivated to get out of their comfort zone and try new dance moves. I knew I'd like FADS when I first saw a portrait of George identifying him as the studio owner. George is a brown toy poodle! The regulars are friendly and welcoming and there is always a range of experience, making it a diverse group and lots of fun for every level of proficiency. There is a reason I keep coming back for more. I have learned techniques (not just moves) that make me a better follow. I am now learning how to lead.
