This dance school has been declining ever since it changed owners a few years ago. They definitely treat this as more of a business and less a school. They have sadly lost a lot of their best dancers. They treat their dancers as assets/revenue generators vs students. There are a lot of hidden fees and very poor communication to parents besides bills and recommendations for additional 1:1 (more $$) lessons for their kids. While some of the teachers are great and kind, a couple of unkind teachers have proven to be sour apples and have driven many students away. Very sad. read more

We really like the toddler/preschool program. We love Mr. Jack. His students truly enjoy his energy and kindness. He is very attentive to them and is so patient with them. He is clear with his instructions and makes sure each student is following. Registration process was easy. Ample parking around the entire complex. Aside from being a bit pretentious, I think this school is fine except their Sunday teacher. While it is rare to have classes open on Sunday which are helping many families, current Sunday teacher has zero personality and doesn't seem she is enjoying doing what she does. It appears she bothers doing it because of her family connection and she won't probably get fired no matter what. She doesn't have a warm personality which in my opinion is not suitable for a teacher to young children. I've witnessed a few occasions when her students said hi to her and she barely looked at them and said a short hi without a smile and walked away. I saw one girl asked her a question about her costume in a class, she looked annoyed and told her "I'll tell you later" without looking at her face and that was it. I didn't see their interaction after that. She is cold and short, and she usually ignores parents too. She has never bothered to tell us how our child is doing in the class and if there is anything that she can do to improve. Although we are right there, she doesn't make eye contact with any of us. Why does she even bother teaching young children? Just because no other teacher wants to work on Sunday but she has to because she is in the family who owns this school? Her teaching style is painfully dull, and she doesn't even know how to provide proper discipline to kids. There are kids who are constantly behaving badly and being total destruction in a class, but she doesn't know how to discipline them and all other girls start losing their focus too. So painful and stressful to watch. What she should do is either to talk to their parents or have them removed so others can focus and carry on their lesson. What a waste of time. It is utterly disappointing how their time and our tuition is being wasted like that. It is apparent this school values income more than quality of education. So here is my suggestion to parents who are considering to enroll their children to this school. Avoid enrolling them to their Sunday classes at all costs. Weekday class teachers are simply much better, no comparison. And here is my suggestion to the school. Talk to the Sunday teacher to improve her demeanor and willingness to teach, or simply get a better teacher. I hope the owner of the school reads this review so at least she can do something to improve her school better. All children deserve a teacher who is passionate about teaching and genuinely cares about their progress and loves them. read more

Pacific dance center has been such a great change of pace for my daughter from our last studio. Her teacher Mr. Jack is the best! He is dedicated, kind, and totally connects to kids. I'm a teacher I think it's so important how adults talk to children and I can't say enough about how Mr. Jack talks to kids. It's beautiful. We love him!!! read more

THEY WILL HIT YOU WITH HIDDEN FEES TO PARTICIPATE IN PRODUCTIONS. Not a bad studio, but be warned. At first this seemed like a dream for our daughter. The scheduling is relatively flexible and the cost of classes was a little less than other studios in the area. The only problem with the studio site is that there is no indoor seating for parents and about 3 lawn chairs to accommodate 15 kids worth of parents outside of their strip-mall location. We were excited to hear that our daughter would have the chance to be in a production. However, the low rating is because of the gouging. This studio is relentless with hidden fees to participate in the production. 1. They charge you $200 for the costume, which you do not get to keep. 2. They force parents to volunteer or pay a $200 for our daughter to participate in the production. 3. This is in addition to the $25/ per person that the tickets cost. 4. They expect you to sell $50 worth of candy bars. 5. $50 for pictures, which at this price point only covers 3 printed copies, no digital. The digital copy can be emailed to you for $75. 6. In addition to the pink outfits required to participate in regular classes, parents are required to purchase new shoes and tights to participate in the production and the shoes HAVE to be new. We're thinking this is the only reason that the studio militantly enforces the colors of outfits for regular classes as they are different than the production. Overall, it will be $500+ in addition for your child to participate in the production. Given that this is so much more than the cost of classes, the studio should be more upfront about it during sign up. Of course they give parents the option to forgo these fees and their child not to participate in the production, but who wants to explain to their daughter why they're the only ones in class rehearsing for a production they are not going to be in. We're not saying that there is not justification for SOME of these costs, but the studio is not very upfront about it when signing up for classes. In fact, they don't mention it at all. They do mention that they have a production for the students to participate in and they could have been more forthcoming during the sign up process. Thinking back, the sign up process was similar to to buying a used car, just transpose the guy in the leather jacket with a women in leg warmers. read more

This place is great for younger kids. If your dancer gets serious, there are better schools that really focus on technique. The culture of the school is not friendly or inclusive. But to reiterate, if your child is younger... it works. read more

My daughter has been dancing at this studio for 11 years. It is so professionally run and the shows are truly as good as Professional shows. Every Holiday, the entire studio performs the "Nutcracker" and it is magical and beautifully performed. The studio also has a wonderful charitable foundation that it supports called "Ballet Pacifica", which reaches out into under-privileged communities to expose them to the artistry and beauty of ballet through exceptional dance education, community outreach, and inspiring performances. My daughter has been dancing at PDC for 10 years. Each year, I have watched her passion for dance grow with the support of the dance instructors and the community at PDC. She has been surrounded by professional dance teachers that inspire her to perfect her technique and to improve with each class. This is a wonderful studio to give students a solid foundation in dance. My kids have been dancing here since preschool. They started with ballet and tap. As they got older, they added jazz. The studio also offers modern, hip hop, and pas de deux. Students as young as four years old are invited to be part of two productions each year. My kids really enjoy the chance to be on stage in a theater and be a part of a big show. Ballet teachers here are trained by ABT and many dancers audition for and attend prestigious summer intensives. Some students compete in YAGP and other dance conventions. Company dancers are also given the opportunity to be teacher assistants for the younger dancers' classes. With the fundamentals that are taught and the doors that are open to them, dancers at Pacific Dance Center can have a fun experience and can start on a path to a career in dance if they desire. read more

Thrilled to be a part of this dance school! A little over a year ago we moved from out of state and initially joined a different school. I was so disappointed that they let the younger kids run around in princess costumes and didn't teach technique. My daughter hated it - she had danced for four years at a traditional ballet company school. We were thrilled when we got into Pacific Dance Center. The teachers are trained dancers, teach technique, set expectations that are age appropriate and nurture the kids love for dance. My daughter LOVES that they do performances (Nutcracker and a spring show) versus the traditional recital. As a parent, I was blown away with the production of the shows! Last summer we did a week of dance camp and my seven year old is asking already to attend the full 4 weeks this summer. read more
