I took the 1.5 hour intensive ballroom class last Saturday with Marianna and Irene and had such a great experience. As a beginner, I really appreciated the pace they set. The steps felt manageable, and I could feel my confidence building as we progressed through the class. They were kind, fun, and made the entire session lighthearted and welcoming! At the same time, they are clearly very talented dancers, which gave me something to aspire to. Overall, the intensive was both fun and educational. Learning six dances was a lot, but it was absolutely doable and gave me a clear sense of which styles I'd like to focus on next. I would definitely recommend this class and would happily take it again to reinforce everything we learned. read more

I contacted Fred Astaire to inquire about classes for wedding dances. I was called back the next day and when I asked her how much classes cost she told me they do not discuss that until the first class which is $45. It's crazy to me that you have to pay to figure out pricing for classes and they can't even tell you what you are possibly signing up for until you pay for the first one. I would rethink your business model as this immediately made me not want to consider them for classes as I had no idea the cost they would be. read more

Monica, the studio manager, and Ixsel, the front desk Queen, will literally welcome you with open arms every time you walk through the door. It all starts at the top; the owners of this studio, Tomas and Izabella, are the most wonderful people!! I only started a short four months ago, but I have learned so much! My main instructor is Francesco. He is a high energy individual and makes dancing fun! He is thoughtful about my lessons, understands the few physical limitations I have yet encourages me to push myself to be better. He has also given me exercises to do at home. :) Sabrina is excellent (& patient!) at the technical part of hand and body positioning for the ladies. I love being a part of the FADS community! This is a gorgeous space with the best ballroom instructors in the business. They are talented, funny, patient, and warm, and the other students are also social and friendly, making this such an inviting venue for all levels of dancers. I have only been dancing ballroom for one year and already see such improvement in my form, strength, fitness, memory, and confidence. I knew I'd like FADS when I first saw a portrait of George identifying him as the studio owner. George is a brown toy poodle! My boyfriend gifted me two dance classes at Fred Astaire for our anniversary after I mentioned how fun it would be for us to learn to tango. Boy was I right! Our instructor David was so wonderful and knowledgable, we have never taken dance lessons before and he was so patient and kind to us as we tried to learn the steps. We went once before COVID and redeemed our second class after they reopened. Their outdoor set up is so charming, you wouldn't even know that you weren't inside the studio. After our class, we chatted with David and the studio manager Ixsel, after mentioning that we were moving they went above and beyond to give us recommendations for dance studios they are familiar with in our area and even emailed me the addresses so we can check them out ourselves. The rectangular dance floor is large & smooth. They offer a variety of dance packages to fit your personal interests. The office staff, owners & instructors are all friendly & welcome you with warm sincerity. The owners & the instructors are experienced, talented, professional dancers. They have performed in various competitions and have received many acknowledgments/awards. TYKHON, my Ukrainian dance instructor, is exceptional!!! He has an impressive dancing career & is an excellent teacher/dancer. I'm taking lessons only for the Argentine Tango. Tykhon has worked with Argentine Tango instructors from Argentina, Italy, Russia and Spain. He & his wife, Yana [also, a FADS instructor], have competed & won awards for the Argentine Tango. My father and I just took a lesson for our father daughter dance for my wedding. Let me start by saying I am very uncoordinated and hate the spot light, so I have been dreading dancing for my wedding. When we got there, everyone was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. We worked with Yana who was amazing. She taught us a dance that was easy for us to learn and remember. I am sooo glad I came here. I feel 1000x more comfortable dancing after just one lesson. They gave me Aaron Pierce as my instructor. He introduced himself with such a sweet smile. I can't explain how patient and calm he was. He made me feel so comfortable minutes into the class. If I had to say it, this was probably the biggest spending mistake of my life. I went in maybe about two years ago and still til this day it bothers me knowing I spent that much for nothing. I walked in initially with a Groupon. I was hoping to learn more salsa and enjoyed the initial lesson, overall. As I was about to leave, I was given a paper to sign up for a special they were having. There were about 5 people there convincing me to sign up. One woman in particular was with all the instructors in the actual backroom for employees, showing me why it was something I definitely needed to sign up for. She explained that it was unlimited group classes along with the personal lessons. I was told I would be able to learn salsa. Everyone was so kind, but again I was being convinced to purchase. The instructor came in and explained that yes everything she said was accurate. I was told that I had a full year to cancel. I was convinced, and I handed them my card and was charged the $500. As I came in for the lesson, it was enjoyable.. but I had no idea it would be a lesson of different dances every time I came in. My whole desire was to become better at one dance in particular, not just learn the basics to different ones. Then come to find out it was NOT unlimited group lessons for that time frame, it was a limited amount. Like I said, overall the teachers were very kind and encouraging but I felt like this wasn't what I was convinced to sign up for. I felt like the information I received was not accurate from the get go, so i concluded that I wanted to cancel. Especially after finding out that the girl allowed in the backroom with all the employees, where they have the forms, the one explaining to me the contract, wasn't even an employee, but someone who had just sat there mingling with them and had taken a few lessons herself! Why would they allow someone who isnt an employee to explain the details to a brand new customer who could only conclude that she worked there too, I have no idea. Somehow, with pressure, I was then again convinced to stick to it and not cancel with them. Oh, my huge regret! As I was told I had unlimited classes initially and I could bring a partner, i thought my boyfriend could join me for those group classes. They then explained that the group classes were only for the person who signed up and a partner could only attend the private lessons. Why was this not explained to me in the beginning? They were nice about it and whom I believe to be the manager in charge (short, stout, bald) decided I could have my boyfriend join, but it would cut my group lessons in half. Ok, whatever.. I decided it was fine bc I didn't even want to do this alone initially. I had to go out of the country on a trip for awhile and never finished my lessons. Never heard from them again. My biggest regret was not speaking up for myself and going through with canceling. So, this is just a warning to anyone wanting to sign up. Make sure the person discussing the plan with you actually works there even if they are acting like an employee and all the employees are treating them like one, make sure you ask questions, get everything explained to you beforehand, and do not hesitate to cancel if you don't feel it was what you expected. Overall, the instructors were positive, kind, and great dancers. If I could go back in time, though, I would have canceled. $500 out with a non-completion and that basically becomes my fault. The low score bc of the business tactics and the added stars bc of the delivery of my instructor. read more
