My daughter first attended Performing Arts Workshop 7 years ago, when they were putting on The Wizard of Oz. She hadn't even entered kindergarten yet but was instantly hooked. We immediately signed her up for the remaining camps that summer and she has done multiple sessions each year ever since (minus the covid years). As a parent, seeing your kid find a place where they can be themselves and shine is invaluable, and PAW has been that. We are so excited that camp starts in just a few short weeks! The staff is top notch at teaching performing arts skills and making sure every single camper gets to shine. Can't recommend PAW highly enough! read more

Summer Camp The Performing Arts Workshops does not honor price adjustment by giving the Groupon advertised 46% discount towards May summer camp registrants who only got 20% "early bird" discount. The early registrants end up paying more by signing up early and end up more disadvantaged. read more

I recently signed up to be an ambassador with PAWs and am thrilled at the opportunity! Everyone has been so helpful and courteous. I can't wait for my daughter to take the "Debate Camp" this summer. She wants to take debate as her elective next year in 7th grade and this camp looks like an awesome opportunity for her to get her feet wet and see how she likes it. Here's a little about the debate camp if you are interested for your child... Performing Arts Workshops' DEBATE CAMP (for ages 9-14) is a fun non-competitive academic program where kids use team debate as a platform into learning public speaking, voicing their opinion, and also develop listening & critical thinking skills. The PAW curriculum provides campers with age appropriate topics, which they explore every aspect of, and teaches them how to structure a debate discussion on those topics. Through this process, kids will discover that you can disagree and still be friends! The curriculum also demonstrates how to present and defend your own point of view...while still showing empathy for one another. Some of the workshops they get include; vocabulary building, voice and speech, pros and cons, problem solving, rebuttal, wordplay, debate strategy, debate of the day, and the most enjoyable, the round table discussions. Also, one of the most immediate benefits of this camp is how these skills can be used as a spring board for the next school year, while having a really fun summer experience. With only up to 10 children allowed in each session, each child gets a lot of individual attention. And as always with PAW, with us the kids don't need to audition to participate. Performing Arts Workshops was even named BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine. If you want more information on PAW, their number is (310) 827-8827 or check out the website at PerformingArtsWorkshops.com. read more

We are excited for this summer camp again this year!! my child participated in summer of 2024 and loved it! We even signed up for an additional session. It's offered in El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Torrance, West LA, Studio City, Pasadena, Rancho, Palos Verdes, & Northridge. Performing Arts Workshops MUSICAL THEATER CAMP (for ages 6-14) offers a full performing arts curriculum that keeps kids engaged and having fun all day long. In the morning hours the kids get to enjoy workshops like improv, acting technique, choreography, singing & voice training, stage presence and more! In the afternoon following lunch and free play the campers take the techniques they learned in the morning workshops and apply them to rehearsing the show...which is how they can pull together a fantastic show in just 2 weeks. Over the summer the kids will perform children's adaptations of Wicked, Hogwarts School Musical, Alice In Wonderland, or Barbie Dream Musical. On the last day of each session the children put on the show which is free and open to the family members of the campers. Performing Arts Workshops was even named BEST Summer Camp & BEST Children's Live Theater in LA Parent Magazine. Our daughter loved this program! She was part of the Rapunzel show, Summer 2022. She went into it a bit shy, but after the first day... She came home every day, excited to go back. The staff was very kind, friendly and attentive to my daughter and all the kids. As a first time mom sending my daughter to a camp I had many questions and concerns but they addressed them all. Needless to say, my daughter (along with her little sister) will be joining Summer 2023. They are both very excited to be joining the Encanto show. read more

I've been looking for the perfect summer camp experience for my 8 year old daughter and wanted to share that I found it! Performing Arts Workshops, winner of "Best Summer Camp" in LA Parent Magazine, offers exactly that! My daughter is incredibly EXCITED to be part of the PAW summer camp's production of "Matilda" this year! Many of her friends have had fantastic experiences with the program in the past. It's great that PAW summer camps offer so many creative options for talented kids, unlike the usual sports camps. Additionally, they offer a PAWs Ambassador Program where you can get HALF OFF a two-week session, making each week of full-day camp less than $225. read more

Performing Arts Workshops LOL STAND-UP COMEDY Camp (for ages 9-14) is first and foremost a comedy camp! Beneath that, the kids are learning an incredible amount of public speaking and language arts skills. The camp is designed for beginners as well as experienced students. The focus is placed on the comedian's craft, including; improv, joke structure, sketch writing, speech & diction, as well as creating stage characters, and joke delivery. Throughout the week, the kids develop a 3 to 5 minute set, and have the chance to perform it at the end of the week. It's a lot of fun, and the kids are laughing all week long while learning really valuable skills such as critical thinking, self-confidence, and language arts skills which will give them an edge for the following school year. Many campers even come back for more than one session so they can advance and polish their set. With only up to 10 children allowed in each session, each child gets a lot of individual attention. Performing Arts Workshops was even named BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine. If your child loves to sing, they'll love PAW's Top Pop Choir Camp! It's a contemporary vocal camp that every young singer (ages 8-14) can enjoy while working on singing techniques to last a lifetime. This cutting-edge vocal program draws on contemporary music and is ideal for both beginning and advancing campers alike, because they use age-appropriate songs from the campers' favorite artists, such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Ed Sheeran, just to name a few. The PAW teachers apply the latest methods and approach to teaching proper singing technique, ear training, vocal warm-ups, breath control, pitch, phrasing, and song interpretation. The kids will get the chance to sing major & minor scales, and even 4-part harmonies, as well as learn how to do group crescendos and blend their voices...taking your child to a whole new level as a young singer! Finally, because PAW places a special emphasis on showmanship, the kids will present the vocal set they've developed by performing it together at the end of the week. With only up to 10 children allowed in each session, each child gets a lot of individual attention. And as always with PAW, the kids don't need to audition to participate. Performing Arts Workshops was even named BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine. After speaking with the lovely rep from performing arts workshop, I am excited to sign up for the Jr. Counselor Program. It is for student's ages 15 & 16 only. During the day each Jr. Counselor will serve as a mentor to the campers by setting an example through their character and conduct. They will have the chance to demonstrate many of the skills they have learned through their own arts experiences. I think this camps gives teens a great opportunity to develop leadership skills by joining PAW's professional instructors during class and free play. Looking forward to it!! read more

We are new parents to the performing arts workshop and our experience has been amazing. We want our daughter to acquire the skills of performing in front of audiences not just for acting but for future endeavors that life may bring to her. I would recommend them to anyone that has a child free for the summer and wants ti experience something amazing. read more

As a parent do I really want my son to learn how to debate? No, (I am joking) But as an educator I absolutely want my son to have these critical thinking skills that will help him navigate through life. I was thrilled when I saw PAW offered a "Debate Workshop" we love PAW and can't wait to start again this summer. The classes are small and the instructors are absolutely lovely. I heard about the PAWS program from a fellow mom and she had amazing things to say about it. This is her second year sending her daughter to the camp and she highly recommended it. My daughter is very excited to take part in the program this year and I am at peace knowing that she's going to have an awesome experience! read more

I'm embarrassed to even share how many opportunities I've given this company, but here goes.... About 5 years ago, booked a summer camp for my child in Redondo. Days (not a week or more) before the start date, I get a call that they've cancelled the camp due to lack of enrollment. Furious- left me with little to no time to arrange other care/options for my child. 2017- sign up my child for camp and the office manager requires outrageous medical documents and personal commitments due to a common medical condition. Never mind that she did not require this for the other kids in the same camp with similar medical conditions. I overlooked the blatant discrimination because my child really wanted to do the camp with friends. The onsite staff was fantastic- and acknowledged that the office manager was "difficult to deal with" for them too. 2018- decide to sign up early using a discount simply because my child enjoyed the onsite staff/program previously. Two weeks later receive a better offer ($100 less) and call to request a price adjustment. DENIED with a quick 'it's not retroactive' statement. What kind of customer care is this? Signing up early is a help to them and customers shouldn't be penalized for doing so. Why did I think this company would improve??? Won't be back. Will probably cancel what's been booked. And will not recommend PAWS to anyone. What a loss for the children.... read more

I have heard nothing but great reviews for the Performing Arts Workshop in Redondo Beach. My son and I are so looking forward for him to attend his first theater camp! I just signed my daughter up for her third summer of PAW. She really enjoys it, and always makes new friends. It's really impressive the amount of scenes, choreography, and songs they're able to teach the kids in just two weeks. Anytime I've called the office, they are always friendly and helpful. I had to change sessions this past summer, and all it took was one phone call. Couldn't have been easier. read more

I'd like to start off by saying this rating is solely due to mis-advertised services and lack of consideration for parents and kids when scheduling. While searching for a more interactive summer day camp for my 4th grader, we came across what seemed to be an awesome platform to allow my daughter to express her creativity. Although mixed reviews on multiple locations, I thought at the least 1 week session would tell it all. I looked for the location nearest my job, and lo and behold there was a suggestion from PAW to register online at any available location. I thought awesome, I'm familiar with the area and I can take care of everything right online. I checked availability for the class we were interested in, confirmed the location which said "Weeks 1-8 available", I confirmed again at each page while completing the registration. I selected the available location and class a third time as part of the final registration process and paid the $295. I didn't receive a confirmation email, but I did receive a pop up message confirming my daughter's enrollment. It's an exciting Monday, because my daughter is off to PAW Camp to do what she loves. I'm at the school with no visible signs of kids, camp or staff. I call the main number in Marina Del Ray, and to my shock "Oh we didn't get to notify you that there are no classes at this location for Stage Makeup due to your late registration." Of course completely taken back as I was due in my office in 30 minutes, I looked online again while talking to the very nice (but clueless and careless) Lisa Marie. The class is clearly showing available at all 3 locations in the same area. It allows you to register for each class. I confirm with her and ask, are you sure? She says yes, the ONLY CLASS AVAILABLE is at the West LA location. I asked her was the class available last week at the Redondo Beach location, she said no. So it hasn't been offered at that location yet the site allows you to register. She proceeds to tell me that's a great question to email to the office manager. She's supposed to update the site. Then asks me if I would like to try another class at another location for Magic or Photography. But if I were interested in the Photography class in El Segundo I'd need to bring my own camera. I'm sitting there listening in shock even more as she sarcastically states "I don't know what else to tell you. Most parents call and confirm before bringing their kids" I responded most companies don't accept payment or advertise something they do not offer. The canned response comes again"That's great feedback for the office manager, you can email her about it." I hung up and looked at my daughter with disappointment as I drove back home to solidify a more consistent camp. As exciting as it sounds, similar to a couple of the other reviews, PAW is not consistent enough, nor do they consider the parents' work schedules when proper advertising/updating on your site is neglected. read more

My daughter did one of your performing arts camps a couple of summers ago and absolutely loved it. She was VERY disappointed this past summer when I told her she couldn't do it again because we just couldn't work it into our family's schedule. Her best friend just signed up, in Sept 2018, for summer camp in 2019, and my daughter insisted that I sign her up too. They're doing "The Greatest Show on Earth" and since The Greatest Showman is her favorite movie of all time I don't think I'll stop hearing about her anticipation of this camp for a whole year! I just read some of the negative reviews and have to say that when we did it before I had no complaints, although I didn't need to make any changes or special requests. This year when I signed up I had to call the office a couple of times for things that were confusing to me on the online registration form and they were very friendly and helpful. read more

At the beginning of summer, My wife and I were so sad to not have our daughter's first experience with musical theater be in person due to Covid. As it turned out, Performing Arts Workshops has been an amazing experience for our Abigail! I was skeptical at first with our 6 year old daughter who had a hard time staying engaged on zoom at the end of her kindergarten school year. However, the staff at PAW are outstanding in keeping the program engaging, fun and exciting! She absolutely loves Mr. Joey and looks forward to every Young Dancers Workshop he teaches! She also has been taking Ms. Angela and Mr. Joey's Young Singers Workshop which has really brought up her confidence in her singing. Ms. Angela is incredibly talented and with Mr. Joey's energetic and goofy persona Abigail is engaged and is having a blast while learning about characters, storylines and acting in musical theater. This experience has been such a light for our family during a challenging time. read more

We have enjoyed the Musical Theater summer camp the last two years. The staff is always great and we look forward to the performances at the end of the two weeks. I'm sure the high quality from the "live" camps will translate into the online workshops as well. read more

My daughter attended one of their summer camps in 2016 and loved it. We had tried two other musical theater groups prior and had not been happy. Since attending PAWS, my daughter enjoys music theater again. In my mind, PAWS makes the shows about the kids- not the production. The staff is caring and well organized. We will continue to use PAWS in the Summer. My daughter is enrolled in three of their camps this summer. Keep up the good work!! read more

Love this summer camp! Although expensive you definitely get what you pay for. We've now done this camp 2 year in a row and my child loved it equally both times. My kids have done countless summer camps and after school activities and this was one of the most impressive. We love paw!!!! My son loves paw theatre camp so much! This would be our third year ... the counselors first up are Amazing! They are kind and fun and really entertain the kids .. In just two wonderful weeks your kids will learn choreography, lines and songs from start to finish and you'll wonder what magic was at play .. my kiddo comes home every day asking if he could go to a "real school" like this !! They adapt the ideas to include lots of new roles and lines for as many kids as possible and the shows are fantastic.!! They also have tons of other camp options! We heard great things about the makeup camp and this year we are doing the TV show camp. When my son started he wasn't so confident even though he loved the idea of it. It really transformed him. This is a terrific camp! My 13 year old son, who has no stage experience, wanted me to find a camp where he wouldn't feel out of place from other kids that have been doing stage for years. This camp fits the bill perfectly and offers something for everyone - from instruction in stage techniques to large and small parts in the play of the week. I especially like the unintimidating and supportive environment, and that the camp runs almost all day.
