He can be difficult and temperamental but she's been incredibly kind and patient with him. He loves her and her class and the fact that he keeps going back every Saturday for an 1.5 hrs away from his video games is testament to this place. Everyone I've spoken to there has been super nice and helpful, even if we'd had to reschedule a class at the last minute. I must note that my son did not love his first teacher and class, like I said, he can be difficult, but the director was incredibly patient and considerate and after listening to our feedback, switched him to a different class and teacher, which was much better suited for him and he's been loving it ever since. This is just to say, even if the first class doesn't work, you might give it another chance and try a different one. Highly recommend this place!

I contacted the owners, Terri and Sarah, and they were so incredibly gracious! They invited me over to check out the space. I really like the layout of this art studio because it's divided into different sections/rooms. One room would be where the kids do their sketching, and then another room is where the kids would take their sketching to go paint. The third room is where you can put all the food for your party and they have an awesome patio area that's right next to the food room where parents can also hang out while the kids can sketch and paint for the instructor in the other rooms. There were 19 kids total and it was so nice not to have the parents stand behind their kiddos the entire time to watch them paint because there's no where to go!! All of the parents told me they had NO IDEA this place existed. Because it's on Artesia , which is quite a busy street that people take to get from one place to the next it's really not the kind of place that people stroll around on. Sarah and Terri will work with you on what kind of theme/ sketch to guide the kids. It was an amazing party! Everyone loved it! And my daughter said it was the best birthday ever! Yay! Success! SBAD focus on a different topic/theme each day so the children have plenty of time to be creative and really think about what they would like to make. My daughter, aged 7 loved going each day and came home with some stunning pieces of art. She also LOVED the teachers who are not only skilled artistically, but are genuinely kind people who make all the children feel welcome and at home. Performing Arts Workshops PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP (for ages 8-14) teaches kids the art of digital…read morephotography from behind the lens to in front of the computer. Campers learn everything from Camera Settings and Special Effects, to Visual Composition including: Still Life, Landscapes, Headshots and Portraits, as well as how to take Advertising Photos. In the afternoons, following lunch and free play...the kids will work in front of the computer, and learn how to digitally master their photos. Each day the campers will need to bring their own digital camera to shoot with, as well as a flash drive to load their daily edited photos onto, in order to print at home. PAW's teachers do supply a computer for the campers to work on. However, many kids do like to bring their own laptops as well. At the end of each session, not only will the kids get to take home a portfolio of their favorite selected prints, but even set up a photo exhibition for their parents to come enjoy! She had fun putting together her custom and learning her role. Based on reading and learning the script she found a new love for Harry Potter. She is now reading those books and watching the movies. Overall the Performing Arts Workshop is a place I would recommend for any parent that wants their kids to try out a new talent. They have a host of different types of workshops. Neither of these people could call when they had set appointments with me regarding my PAYING to attend school at OTIS. What a joke.

Despite the class being very small (only five students), the instructor completely ignored me the entire session, while giving multiple rounds of feedback to other students--including one sitting directly in front of me. I even walked to the location with the instructor, so there's no way this was just an oversight. I paid for this class expecting at least some level of instruction, but I left feeling like my presence didn't matter. If I wanted to paint outside alone with zero feedback, I could have done so for free.

Our Girl Scout troop went to Blow a Glass this weekend having no idea what to expect - and we were…read moreabsolutely delighted by the experience. Wes was wonderful with the girls. He was engaging, entertaining, and genuinely captivating. He shared that his grandmother was a Girl Scout, which motivated him to engage with our organization, and that personal connection made the experience feel even more meaningful. He began with a lesson on glassblowing outside by the kiln (and other hot oven-y stuff). What I appreciated most was how much information he shared in such an amusing and accessible way. He is dynamic and held the attention of both the girls and the leaders. We learned so much about the art of glassblowing and the artisan himself, experiencing the craft in a very personal, first-person way. (He even let some of our girls assist him.) At one point, he transformed a bowl into a cup and then into a vase in less than a minute. It was mesmerizing! We then went into the studio to work on our own creations. What was both scary and exhilarating was that, after going over the safety rules and receiving some instruction, we were largely on our own. Wes didn't stifle creativity or prescribe what our creations should look like. Instead, he encouraged us to work through questions ourselves, which left plenty of room for us to experiment, explore, and simply "play." The activity itself was absolutely wonderful. Wes provided a very generous amount of glass, and I truly felt like we had way, way more than enough material to enjoy the experience without worrying about running out. There was so much to choose from, and the girls had the freedom to make the experience their own. This activity has my highest recommendation. Wes is an exceptional teacher and a creative muse who knows how to educate, inspire, and give people the confidence to create. I will absolutely be coming back with my older Girl Scout troop!
