When I scroll through TikTok, it's mostly mindless, but for this one case, I'm glad that I stopped scrolling because I found spicy librarian. In case you're thinking about taking a trip down there, I will let you know that it is in the little shopping complex and that the store main door is in the parking lot. It took me a while to figure it out. I love that when I walked in, I got the vibe that it was a safe space for smut readers to let their freakflags fly. The store is two levels and is built into sections based off of the type of smut reader you are. They had a dark romance section, a fiction section, a contemporary, young adult, kids, LGBTQ, BIPOC, and historical sections. I loved how the decor in each section matched that theme. They have a few featured books that have chili pepper ratings and a guide to show you what those chili peppers mean. Beyond books, they have a very large selection of stickers, coloring, books, games, coffee, mugs, apparel, and more all centered around cliterature. There are a few improvements that I would recommend: Have synopsis of books with the chili pepper ratings. Maybe they did have it on the chili pepper insert, I didn't look, but I wanted to see more suggestions. In a couple instances, I wanted to read the first book of a series, but the first book was missing, so I recommend having more of the first books available. Have the staff be knowledgeable about the various books and possibly have them walking around the store to give recommendations. I should've asked, but I didn't and I wish I had. Also, considering expand the book selection from those beyond the popular ones. And make it stand out which ones are part of a series and which ones are standalone. In the dark romance and fantasy sections, a lot of the really popular books such as haunting Adaline, ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, Phantasma, were there and those are good books, but because they're so popular, I've already read them all, and I was hoping to find some new books that I hadn't seen before or some that are not as well-known such as kresley, Cole books, Anita Blake, JR Ward...etc The final suggestion that I have is to expand or work with a coffee shop to make areas where people could sit and read and have coffee and enjoy the ambience because if this store had that I would definitely have opened my blind date with a book and enjoyed it there because I felt so comfortable in the environment With like-minded people who read naughty romance novels, and I know others would feel the same way. There were little seats and chairs and places, but I think it was more for the person browsing. Overall, I am really excited about this shop, I would come back and I would recommend it. I'm interested in seeing what new selection they may have next time I go.

It's a very cute space, smaller than I thought, I was expecting more nooks for reading or small book club gatherings. I like how they section and categorize the on the levels of spicy and genre. Everyone working there is incredibly friendly and helpful! It's a little pricy but I don't mind since I feel strongly about supporting small businesses. *Tip...They do have parking but it is very limited.

This review is based off of my wife's experience/excitement about visiting this recently opened bookstore. While I was there tagging along it is definitely a spot she had on our Denver bucket list. From my perspective I will just say that this was one of the most unique book stores I have seen and is a smart idea. If you've been living under a rock then you have missed the huge trend of booktok/romance novels. As you could guess from the name they specialize in romance/spicy books. Even having a chili pepper scale rating showing how spicy the book gets. This is a safe haven and welcoming environment in a judgement free zone! A secret vault with...well open it and see for yourself. A lounge like area upstairs with more books and some places to sit and read. Staff were friendly and welcoming and they have authors coming in often for meetings/signings. My wife would give this place more than five stars if possible and wishes we had a similar place near us. If you're a fan of these genre of books it's a must visit!

Opening day and it's five degrees but the line is crazy!! You can't keep the people from their books :)

The Spicy Librarian is Denver's first romance bookstore and how exciting! Woman-owned and led, the owner, Sydney, is sweet and knowledgeable and and so passionate, it's contagious. The buzz for opening made for great camaraderie. Lots of readers chatting in line about their favourite books and once in a while, a popular quote would have everyone jumping in. Inside, the loft space is super welcoming with plants and bricks and comfy, leather chairs. There's also... The Vault, which is the place to check for any extra spicy, 18+ accessories. A nice surprise about this building is there are so many other stores I honestly had no idea were here. Waiting in line (that wrapped around the inside of the building!), I got a peek of other small businesses like clothing boutique Judith and Joe, Stem (with weekend brunch), and Flying Tiger's Hooch Booch. So this is definitely a great stop for an outing. With Coffee Sarap opening last week only half a mile away, I foresee this being my new favourite area to frequent and how exciting for us! It feels like Denver's finally made it.

A spicy bookshop that has a secret vault and upstairs loft / seating area to fully immerse, read, browse, in a safe space? Count me in! I had the best time with my girls and seeing other friend groups also having a great time was very heartwarming! I love that for us all! And, being woman-owned is the cherry on top! We arrived at opening time and everyone else also had the same idea! It's great to see this space thriving. I love that there's cute, Instagrammable photo opportunities, free stickers, and adorable merchandise. I also loved how they sorted the different romance genres so you can gravitate to what speaks to you. This is a unique stop and one I'd highly recommend to take yourself on a date or simply enjoy with friends or even on a date.

I was in Denver for work and made two stops here! I bought books, stickers and wanted to buy so much more. The decor is so cute and they have a really good selection of books....i bought 7! If you're in town, I highly recommend stopping here. There is street parking and a parking lot. I had such a fun afternoon by myself....bought books and went to a nearby brewery.

It is so fun to have a new woman-owned romance bookshop in the area. It opened this weekend and it's no surprise that when I showed up on the second day, they seem to be having trouble keeping books on the shelves! Their books are organized by different categories (fantasy, lgbtq, historical, etc) and many have spice ratings that are indicated by the amount of hot peppers on an inserted card. They also have an adults only hidden room for you to discover. It was a treat to pop in yesterday and I'm looking forward to going back after things calm down a bit because there was barely room to move with how much of a crowd showed up!

Cute, fun and comfortable. They carry all types of romance. You name a romantic setting or pairing and you'll find a book for that. Several spots to relax and read a few pages. The "Vault" is an 18+ area where you'll find things to enhance your own romantic moments.

I was in town for the weekend and I am an avid book reader. I was looking for local bookstores and stumbled upon the Spicy Librarian. I am so glad I was able to make a trip here. It was such a vibe. I love the decor and they had a wide variety of books, stickers, kick-knacks..even a secret vault for adults. If I had packed a bigger suitcase I would have bought more but settled on 2 books on my reading list. I would seriously recommend visiting whether you are local or just visiting. It is every romance readers dream. Spicy, dark, fantasy - whatever you want - they have it!

One of the cutest bookstores I have been too. Such a cool space with a good selection of books. Even had a gumball machine to let fate pick your next read!

The owner herself, Miss Risa was taking care of creating this unique culinary experience. The first service we chose a peach oolong. This was served with a green salad and broccoli quiche. Wonderful! I cannot tell you what the salad was dressed with, but the flavors!!!! The quiche was absolutely perfect from crust to cheesy top. Second service was Yellow submarine. This refreshing chamomile was infused with dried pineapple and mango. The first cup was good, but the second was delightful. The fruit had time to meld with the chamomile and created an epic infusion. The third service was a Moroccan mint. This was just as wonderful as you would expect. We were served an open face curry egg salad and a homemade fermented cucumber on a seasoned cream cheese. The flavors were wonderful. The sweet serving was a blueberry scone with Lemmon curd, apple cake and macrons. Service was top notch, the owner came over to chat with us. We even had a chance to spend time with one of the guides from the local Black History Museum. This was a delightful end to our amazing day! Thank you for the hospitality

I made a reservation several weeks in advance for high tea for myself and five girlfriends because…read morewe were excited to try something new together. The concept sounded perfect: a traditional three-tiered tray of finger sandwiches and sweets, a plated item like quiche, and bottomless tea over a three-hour reservation. To start with the positives, the staff were kind and polite, and the owner was accommodating when our group size increased closer to the date. The tea was good, and I appreciated that the teapots were kept warm with tea lights. The space itself is charming, and we genuinely enjoyed having time to sit and catch up. The food was delicious, they are amazing cooks. The biggest issue was the timing of the food. In every afternoon tea I have attended, the three-tiered tray is brought out shortly after being seated so guests can graze while enjoying tea. A plated item may follow later, but there is always something to snack on early in the experience. Here, we went almost two full hours without any food at all. The quiches arrived around the two-hour mark, and the three-tiered tray, which is the centerpiece of afternoon tea, did not arrive until about fifteen minutes before our three-hour reservation ended. No one was rushing us out, and we did enjoy being together, but waiting an hour and a half to two hours for any food simply is not reasonable. We were genuinely hungry for the first half of the visit and then suddenly had a large amount of food placed in front of us near the end. Instead of grazing leisurely, we were left trying to eat everything in a short window of time. With a reservation made weeks in advance and only one other small table present, it was surprising that nothing was delivered within the first hour. Even reversing the order and bringing out the tiered tray first would have completely changed the experience. We also received only one three-tiered tray for six people at a price comparable to other Denver tea houses where each guest receives their own. When we asked for boxes to take the remaining items home, we were told they only had paper sleeves. Afternoon tea items are delicate by design, and paper slips are not suitable for transporting layered finger foods without crushing them. Given that the tray was delivered minutes before the reservation ended, proper takeaway containers should have been available. Tea service was steady for much of the visit, but toward the end all three teapots sat empty for about ten to fifteen minutes, and I had to go upstairs to request a refill. This was secondary to the food timing, but it added to the overall sense that pacing and oversight were lacking. I truly wanted this to be a special afternoon, and I appreciate the kindness of the staff and the availability of vegan options. However, afternoon tea should feel thoughtfully paced, with food arriving early enough for guests to graze comfortably. Waiting nearly two hours for any food and then receiving the full tiered tray minutes before the reservation ended does not align with what high tea is meant to be.
