We've gone multiple times to treat my child's wart, with little progress or success with nitrogen, so we tried the Beetlejuice, clearly without adequate warning on how bad the adverse reactions could be. My son's thumb swelled so badly we were ready to take him to the hospital, worried that we would lose his whole thumb, obviously traumatizing all of us at home, over the weekend with no way to reach the office or staff. This was a bit careless to say the least. Upon return, they kind of brushed the incident under the rug and wanted to move forward and nitrogen blast again. But my kid won't sit their calmly and brave anymore to take that burn, because he is traumatized, levels of scared. I asked If they would burn one off me first. They said that wasn't an option. I figured they thought I was trying to get a freebee, quietly accepted whatever they said. I called ahead of a future appointment, having thought it through, and after making no progress with the wart, since only able to blast it one or two little tiny blasts since the Beetlejuice incident, asking if I could pay for the services to have me treated first, so that he might be braver, seeing his daddy go through it too, lending toward a compassionate approach. They said they couldn't do that. I asked why, since they literally threw the left over nitrogen on the floor, why not use it? It cost nothing extra, and they could likely serve us both in the 15 minute window we were there, which at 340$/hr, didn't seem like too much to request. I've witnessed the process many times now. It really doesn't take long. They got the manager, and after I went over all my points, he told me that they wouldn't treat me. I asked why, but got no clear answer. He asked if my son would like to come in the next day at 4pm for an opening, but I said "not until you answer me, why you can treat my son, you can treat my wife, but not me?" And without adequate explanation to such, I needed a logical response, because it was a little confusing and offensive. It didn't make sense. He said he'd call me back. 3 days later, we talk again, and David, the manager tells me, they can't treat me, because I'm not a medical necessity. I asked how is it, you can treat my wife for cosmetic issues (not a medical necessity), and burn warts off my son, and that's a medical necessity, but to burn a wart off me isn't? He said, they were unaware I had warts. I explained he likely got them from his parents, and wondered why I would be asking for a treatment for an ailment I don't have? Not once did anyone ask me if I had a wart that needed removing. Not once was I offered to pay for the service, nor book back to back appointments, which I told him day three, was the clear best option to solve this from the start. He took defense, deflecting the issue as miscommunication. I asked why not, he or anyone else, ever thought to ask these basic questions, and what was missed in the semantics of basic language, under the term 'treatment' and why I would keep asking for treatment for something I didn't have. Again, chalked up to miscommunication, and he apologized but didnt' offer a solution. I explained how I've managed my own and other's companies, and the primary goal is to please the customer so they will return for services. If it's a meal, we will remake it. If it's bad service, we'll comp you. But no solutions offered to resolve this. I assured I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to get to the bottom of this, to help them not lose customers in the future, let alone me, my wife, and child. I'm not getting off on having an awkward conversation. I'd much rather avoid it. But they made little to no effort to deescalate the situation, but just stand on defense, saying they had done what they could to figure this out. I argued they hadn't. Not once did they offer to book my child and I back to back appointments to resolve the problem, or even reconsider squeezing us both this one time into the one 15 minute they had available today, knowing it only takes a few seconds to dip and daub that cue-tip in nitrogen and apply it. Why not? I explained, as managers, our job is problem resolution, and to smoothly ensure our clients satisfaction. Why was that so hard to understand? Even after I accepted his apology, and that they misunderstood me, still defense, instead of trying to fix it. I told him I was done. He could call my wife, but I'm never coming back, because this was insane levels of unwillingness to reach a peaceful resolution. I really wanted to be able to come in, to look them in the eye, maybe even shake hands and move forward so that we could leave, maybe satisfied, but I'm not sure I would ever smile at him or in the office ever again. If my wife wants to keep seeing them, that's up to her, if she wants to take off work to bring our boy, she can. But they ruined this relationship for me, and I'm never coming back again. I've been a patient here for a long time. I've had a few bad experiences, but today was the final straw. I needed a follow up on some issues they were treating and their next appointment was August. Not acceptable. Dr. Jeng is amazing. Very nice and competent, 5 stars for her! However....bookkeeping is atrocious! I fulfilled my copay through a different provider but Mr. Jeng, bookkeeper, insisted I owed them and turned me into collections, so I paid. A few months later I received a refund. Same this year. I have been taking my daughter, who has special needs to Dr. Jeng for the last 16 years. In all these years, she remains unchanged in the care she provides. Always greets us with a smile and a warm welcome. She is professional, yet compassionate, and kind, always seeking to provide my daughter with genuine care. Appointments are always on time, and when caring for my daughter, it's as if no one else is in the building. Lauren was great. While no one likes getting things burned off their faces, she was fast and made it as painless as possible. She was friendly and patient and took the time to explain the different procedures for different issues. On my 3rd visit I had a schedule mix-up with a last minute clarification of EST not CST and I was flustered. She was great, said she could be quick, but also let me phone in and put the conference call on speaker so my attendance was noted. I have a small mass under the skin in my hand. I went to the Spicewood Dermatology office and was seen by a P.A. She did not treat me, but referred me to a surgeon (I was given his name and address). The first appointment available with the surgeon was two weeks later. When he examined my hand, he asked me why I had come to his office; his area of surgery is the digestive system. He didn't treat me and referred me to a hand surgeon. I don't know why the referral from Spicewood Dermatology was to a GI surgeon. Doesn't the P.A. on the staff there know the correct doctor for a referral? Going to the GI surgeon was a waste of money, his time, my time, my gasoline, and delayed treatment for the problem with my hand. I never return to Spicewood Dermatology. read more

The service I received here was good, but I feel like I had to come back twice as much as I should've. Our first visit was to have a mole looked at for our daughter. She PA looked at it and decided that she should remove it. Instead of doing the 10 minute procedure right then and there, we had to come back the next week (and pay another $35 copay). The same thing happened to me after I went for my skin check. Instead of just immediately removing the mole in 10 minutes, I had to come back the next day and pay another copay to get it removed. All in all, they are competent and I was satisfied with the results. read more

She truly understands skin and what is needed to make it look its best. I had scheduling and a billing issues. If I could have given .25 stars I would have. They did identify themselves when I called. I guess. 1) They took more than a month to get an appt. 2) They called me Friday morning, after said month to reschedule to Monday - an extra co-pay needed then. 3) ***Full disclosure, I had to go out of town over the weekend and didn't have the funds to pay $90 in co-pays. 4) I guess my funding issues are not as awesome and or terrible as theirs and their need to reschedule. 5) When I called this morning to ask to pay the bill in 4d they told me no. I told them I would give them a card to charge me - as I get paid in 4d. 6) The receptionist put me on hold to ask someone else and then when I challenged her she wanted to make me recount the whole thing - all over again. No sympathy that a person who makes this much money can also have problems too. Didn't we just have a pandemic? I guess, no one cares anymore about that. It is yesterday's news?!!! 7) I told her to stick it and I would be taking my dermatological gold-mine in long-terms services elsewhere. 8) I cancelled my appointments took my business elsewhere - who was more than happy to schedule a 2x new patient appts with me. 9) At least when I called to say that I had to reschedule time at work, write this horrible review, etc. they did say thanks. 10) Still taking my business elsewhere and promise to post to ever site I own. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I never realized that a doctor's office could be this terrible. This should be last place you call, the physician assistants are good but front desk, billing and rest of the staff is terrible. Even the doctor comes out as arrogant. First 2 appointments were good as there were no hiccups, but working with them when you are trying to figure out what the different charges in the bill were, is when we encountered really how bad this place is. They way to judge people is not when things go smoothly rather when there are situations where you might get late by 5-10 mins or when there are insurance issues. This place is not helpful or polite at all then. They are surely not good at hiring staff or training them. I saw Dr. Jeng for mole checks and removal. As others have said, her office maximized the charges by dragging it out over multiple appointments. Rather than remove moles that were truly suspicious, she wanted kept removing and removing until I had many scars on my back and legs. I initially trusted her, so it took several appointments for me to say, "why remove more? are you seeing changes?" The medical assistant came in and said "better safe than sorry" with no further explanation. I believe Dr. Jeng is knowledgeable, but she is using that knowledge to maximize billing rather than provide good treatment. read more

Very upset with this place. I am in the process of getting on Accutane (a very long and stressful process). After I got my blood work done last month I called Spicewood to make sure it was received and it was confirmed that it was. YAY! Now I just have to wait 30 more days for my 2nd blood test then I can finally start my medicine. NOT. I got my 2nd blood test yesterday and a call from Spicewood saying now I just have to wait 30 days for my 2nd blood test. WHAT? THIS IS MY SECOND BLOOD TEST... Apparently they don't have records of my 1st blood test, which I called to confirm they did a month ago. Now I have to wait at least another 30 days for yet another blood test before I can start the medicine. The hardest part of getting this medicine is the TIME LINE and they really screwed it for me. At the prior place, the esthetician made me feel ugly and in desperate need of whatever procedure she was hard selling that month. She also told me I REALLY needed to buy hundreds of dollars worth of products each month as I couldn't walk around looking like "that". Christi LISTENS to what I am concerned about and offers solutions that address my needs. She is a friendly, knowledgeable, ethical, and truly skilled esthetician. Thank you David for making this situation right!** **Just got a bill, and although David said he was taking care of it, that just meant, he was still going to submit it the way I was being charged. So, it is time to find a new dermatology office..anyone have good recommendations??** I have seen Jill here on and off for a couple years. I love her! My issue is how they deal with billing. I saw Jill just a month ago to have some skin issues. Was in and out and treated in 30 minutes. Paid my insurance office copay and all was butterflies and puppy tails. Today, I had my follow up and had a couple more areas treated. The EXACT same procedure I saw Jill about just a month ago. Well, yesterday they called and said Jill was out of the office and I could keep my original appointment and see Dr. Martin. I said sure. BIG MISTAKE! My issue again isn't with Dr. Martin. It is with the billing staff. The EXACT same visit now incurs my office deductible and copay. What should have been a $15 office visit turned into $108. I was appalled. I even told the, I say Jill for the EXACT same thing last month, and only had my copay, what gives. Well you saw a new provider so the billing is different. This should have been disclosed to me BEFORE I agreed to see Dr. Martin. If you visit this location make sure you stay with the same provider. I, myself will be finding a new dermatology office. She has performed a number of Facial and Peel procedures on me that I am sure have helped my 60 plus years old face avert more wear and tear. I was recommended to Dr. Jeng by our family doctor who was concerned about a mole on our baby. Dr. Jeng took measurements and monitored it and after a few months determined we should be aggressive and recommended removal. While this scared us, since it would require surgery, anesthesia, etc., we are now so glad we did it since pathology results concluded the mole contained abnormal cells. Her expertise was invaluable. Dr. Jeng is very attentive, knowledgable and reassuring. I've seen her a few times and each visit results in a diagnosis with a clear path toward treatment. I also get Photofacials. The equipment they use for this procedure has a high quality laser. I'd had 4 Photofacials prior to the one at Spicewood. But the results from the last Photofacial was amazing. None of the other Photofacials produced the same results. And, it isn't as costly as going to a spa. read more

I went in for a consultation for a photofacial, and to have someone tell me exactly what I needed for my skin. I saw Kelsey the esthetician. She carefully looked at my skin and explained all my options very thoroughly. She noticed I had some light skin colored bumps around my eyes and because she is an esthetician she wanted to check with the doctor before telling me exactly what to do. She took photos of my face and took them back to the doctor which I thought was so nice! She came back and told me what the doctor said and gave me a couple options. Because I had recently had a microdermabrasion she said now would be a good time to do a chemical peel and next time do a photofacial. She asked me if I had insurance and suggested I do the acne surgery ( blackhead removal), and the chemical peel and it could go towards my deductible which she knew I needed to meet because I told her I was having surgery. The people at Spicewood are "nice" but I would never go there again. They look for any excuse to force appointments, there's no patient portal, the internal communication is abysmal (I was reported saying I had a flare when I didn't even know a flare was possible) and there's a general unwillingness to work with insurance companies when it comes to medications. Getting basic treatment should not have to require so much effort and repetition. read more

I've met with both Dr Jeng and the esthetician, Jenny. The office is clean, updated, and large. The receptionists have all been very accommodating and kind. One spent a good amount of time nailing down a difficult-to-find medication for me, which was most appreciated (and a zero copay!). They're very easy going, which is awesome because, you know, doctor's office. I really like Dr Jeng's approach, which is to say that she is moderate. She is quick and confident, and I felt at ease with her. She gently suggested that I might be over exfoliating, and she was right. I've been seeing a lot of improvement in my skin's barrier and overall condition since taking her advice. Jenny is amazing. I was very nervous before having my IPL done with her, and she made me feel completely at ease. She is confident and competent, and I really look forward to all the future treatments I have with her. She's direct, explains what to expect pre, during, and post procedure, and isn't one to up-sell. She also takes a moderate approach, without recommending unnecessary treatments. She's also a personable, friendly woman who gives samples. Can't say enough good things about her. I recommend this center for addressing both medical and cosmetic concerns! read more

Really bad experience here. I came in for a mole checkup and to renew a prescription. To start a doctor didn't even look at me, her PA did. She looked at me for all of 10 seconds before saying that I was young and would "be fine". Then she would not give me a prescription without extensive blood work, which I have never experienced at any other practice for this prescription. After doing all of the blood work they only gave me a three month prescription!!! They wanted me to come back after the three months for a check up. They are trying to milk you here and they do bad work. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
