I had my reservations about seeing this doctor. Please note: although the website states he is accepting new patients, a doctor referral is needed to schedule an appt. Only after they receive the doctor referral will you be able to schedule an appt. I went to see him for a second opinion for a rash under both my armpits. His assistant evaluated the rash and answered my questions. He determined it was an allergic reaction and prescribed some steroidal cream. He did explain the steps he would take, which I greatly appreciated. $60 later, I find that the rash was ringworm and simple anti-fungal cream worked as suggested by a 4th doctor I went to see. The doctor is nice, attentive, and listened to my concerns. I guess he just misdiagnosed. Overall: 3 out of 5 as the scheduling is the biggest hassle overall (minus the misdiagnosis). read more

Unfortunately I will never know if Dr Reichenberg is a good doctor or not; I waited 45 min in waiting room with no word from front desk about the delay to see him. I arrived on time, had my paperwork done is less than ten minutes and then sat and waited. At least two patients arrived after me but were called in before. The front desk was neither nice nor rude, but seemed unconcerned when I said I couldn't wait any longer and left 45 minutes after my appointment time was supposed to start. In the dark ages people were forced to wait an eternity to see the local medicine man; in 2011 we have options and our time is just as valuable as the healthcare provider. I refuse to wait for services when I showed up at the right time - shame on your scheduling and/or timing Dr Reichenberg. read more

Dr. Reichenberg was such a great change for me, I switched from another dermatology practice in town because they were having me come in 4 times a year for long term rx maintenance. Obviously they just wanted their co-pay. Dr. Rechenberg was much more up front with when he needed to see me and why for follow ups. He got me on a 1-2 visits a year schedule (much cheaper). I can have my blood work done in his office's lab - there is never a wait and as long as things look good I can avoid the time and money of an actual dr. visit. Great bedside manner, their office was on time (within 15 min of my scheduled appointment) and he was very understanding of my concerns about multiple visits a year. read more

Dr. Reichenberg is thorough, takes time with his patients, and listens thoughtfully. Having had bad experiences with derms in the past (who take all of 3 minutes to shake my hand, barely glance at my face, and then bark a prescription at an assistant), I was really pleased by my visit with Dr. R. He does have a small cohort of students/residents that follow him around, but they're super friendly, too. It being a teaching facility, you feel like you're getting a good evaluation by some smart folks. Also, he trained at the Mayo Clinic--pretty impressive! read more

Dr. Reichenberg's office is one of the worst I've ever dealt with. I had to get a medical evaluation signed to work in a chemical lab and after three calls over the course of a month and a half they insisted they faxed it but (obviously) never did. It was a nightmare to track everything down until finally I insisted she physically mail the paper to me. All of a sudden the fax seemed to go right through. I had to wait for the medical evaluation before starting work which was extremely stressful. Second issue was when I switched insurance in December and needed him transfer the paperwork to the new specialty pharmacy. I had 6 refills left on the prescription and requested 6 to be transferred- makes sense right? He refused and demanded I come in for a checkup - which I annually have in July. I also needed the medication the following week but when I called to make an appointment there was no appointment available until 3 weeks later. He would also not issue me 1 emergency refill for this time period. The medication is time sensitive and I had to take my business elsewhere and am very happy with my new doctor. read more

This place is great - the staff here is very professional and friendly and Dr. Reichenberg really knows his stuff. I also appreciate that he always asks me for my questions and how he can be addressing my specific needs. Sometimes the office gets a little backed up and it'll take a little longer for you to be seen, but on the whole they are very efficient without making you feel rushed or uncared for. When my insurance was giving me problems, the office was fantastic about working with me and sending appeals to my company to make sure my prescription could be filled. Don't be scared off by the location - parking couldn't be easier since the Capitol's parking garage is right across the street and free for under two hours. read more

I've been going to him for about three years now and he's great. I never get in on time, but once I'm in, the appointment moves along. I'm usually not in there but only a couple of minutes before the doctor comes in. I think since this is like a UT teaching facility(I could be wrong) the last couple of times I've been in there, another doctor comes in first to do my chart like the assistant use to do. Either way, I go there for Dr. Reichenberg. He always seems to ask me specific questions about things we talked about on my last visit a year ago! He takes the time to listen to what I have to say and doesn't rush me out. I found him because his office takes my insurance, but I would continue on with him even if I had to pay the entire bill myself. I good, competent, nice doctor who doesn't act like their some kind of king, is really hard to find. FYI--I'm looking for a good PCP if anyone has any suggestions. I've been coming to Dr. Reichenberg's medical practice for years, and I could not be happier with my dermatologist. I'm going to break my review down into three of this office's thematic boons. Everyone here is smart, and curious. I love that this a teaching medical office that partners with the University of Texas medical graduates as the official arm of the UT Austin Dell Medical School Residency Program for dermatologists. I see this as a boon because the staff are young, energetic, and demonstrably interested in their study and practice of medicine. No one is burnt out or hating on life, like so many other medical offices. Every intern/resident/nurse/support staff has been incredibly polite, professional, curious, and helpful. That curiosity and helpfulness are unparalleled in my experience, and I once had a doctor in Dallas who scheduled me at 7:30am so I could avoid traffic and took me through a inventive treatment plan that eventually resulted in Accutane for my acne. Bedside manner here is tops. Each time I have to go, I receive plenty of personal time from the staff, and they seem to genuinely care about me as a person. I love the practice's habitual last question: "anything else I can help you with today?" Also, on this topic, I appreciate and respect how Dr. Reichenberg gives clear time tables and expectations for return visits and follow ups. You can tell its not about driving more patient-clients in the door, but more about the practice of good medicine. You just don't experience this kind of five star bedside manner much nowadays. Trust me, I'm a health law attorney. This is the dermatology office you want. Staff give you options. A few added notes that show how flexible and accommodating this medical office is: 1.) I spent some extended time out of the country recently, and of course my Chilean health insurance didn't cover office visits in Austin. Dr. Reichenberg and his team went WELL out of their way to accommodate me to provide treatment. 2.) I'm over the age of 30, and so my insurance balked at paying my acne regimen. While I'm fighting that claim, the staff recommended a mail-order pharmacy with price caps for me to actually get the drug filled. This sort of alternative-providing is something rare and beautiful. 3.) When I had women-related skin issues, the team Dr. Reichenberg assembled -- on the spot, since I'd scheduled an appointment with Dr. Reichenberg -- asked if I'd be more comfortable with a female doctor. When I agreed, Dr. Jennifer Vickers saw me and provided treatment - without having to reschedule, as a brand-new-to-her patient, and within 15 minutes of my original appointment. I went to Dr. Reichenberg in an emergency situation and he was great. He spent a lot of time with me and was very thorough. Another doctor came in at first to talk to me about me symptoms, but Dr. Reichenberg didn't spend less time with me as a result. He answered all my questions and didn't make me feel rushed. Dr. Reichenberg is now my new dermatologist after being with another doctor for 15 years. On my first visit, they won me over -- he and his staff were professional, friendly and 'on-time'. My schedule is very tight and timeliness is huge for me. The reason I switched to Dr. Reichenberg is because he took extra time with me to discuss all potential issues and paid so much attention to small details. I recently had a visit with Doctor Reichenberg, and to be completely honest, this was one of the worst experiences I've had with a medical professional. I was in for a skin cancer check, and I'm guessing that either Doctor Reichenberg was either having a very bad day or was in a bad mood, because when I asked him questions about a particular mole that my family physician was worried about, he didn't say anything, but merely shook his head dismissively. I didn't know how to interpret that, and immediately after that, he asked "anything else?". I didn't want to exacerbate further this uncomfortable social dynamic, so I simply said "no, thanks". Further, he never made eye contact with me, not once throughout the entire 5 minutes he spent with me. After leaving his office, I made an appointment with another dermatology clinic in town, and lo-and-behold, the mole that concerned my family physician turned out to be worrisome, so it was removed. Pathology showed no cancer, so that was good news. I wish I could Doctor Reichenberg, and honestly, I don't really care about a doctor's "bedside manner". The deal-breaker for me was the checkup. I left his office much more anxious the possibility of skin cancer. That, to me is unacceptable. read more

I was referred to Dr. Reichenberg by my Mohs surgeon (Dr. Peggy Chern) for another skin condition. I will see him for the 3rd time this afternoon. His front desk staff are very cordial and helpful. His assistants all seem to be doctors (not techs) who are studying under him for their specialization in dermatology. Dr. Reichenberg took my patient history and labs from past dermatologists and set up a round table discussion with other doctors and pathologists to analyze my chart. I find this amazing and wonderful! I was given the results of that discussion at my 2nd visit and a plan as to what's next that was explained thoroughly. Dr. Reichenberg has a wonderful bedside manner and I look forward to seeing what he comes up with for my treatment plan. The entire experience has, so far, been very pleasant. read more

Dr. Reichenberg is a world-class and highly accomplished dermatologist who is as down-to-earth as you can be. I've received nothing short of top-notch care from him -- from major issues to minor issues, he's treated each one with great care and knowledge. Not only is he good at what he does, but he's all about saving his patients money too, by not ordering duplicative lab work and finding less costly alternatives to higher-priced medications. This is a rarity in the medical field which too often operates more like a business than a patient-centered practice. His staff is also highly professional, nice, and polite. You can tell he has a passion for his work and an interest in teaching the next generation of dermatologists -- residents he takes under his wing. There is a wait to get an appointment, but I'm beginning to think that's true for any worthwhile specialist in Austin. If there was a zero rating, he would get it. Worst doctor I have ever been to. Don't go to him with anything serious. He thinks because he's married to a psychiatrist that you have mental problems rather then listen to what the patient is trying to tell him and with proof! I even went to someone he trained and she had the same attitude he did. What a waste of my time. FYI - He's now only specializing in psoriasis only. That ought to tell you something. read more
