A hole-in-the wall right by an international grocery store... this place is easy to underestimate. Yes all day to Spice King, the portions are huge, the prices are perfect, and the food is delicious! Been here more than once and will be back again! read more

Reviewing this place after my 4th or 5th order. For some reason I really wanted to hold back my comments and make sure I understand this place well before I wrote the reviews. Here's my understand and my review: I am fairly convinced that the chicken they use in the recipes come out frozen from their fridge. How can I say so ? Well, for one, all chicken are diced in perfect cubes, more or less uniformly sized, and the gravy and sauces are never well absorbed by the meat. I am not implying that frozen food is not good but if I am onto indian cuisine then it better not be frozen. The entire aspect of slow cooking and dwelling in spices is taken away if you cook with frozen meats and ingredients. I will pass this place if I want to eat quality. Having said that you get what you pay for. The food here is priced lower than what some other Indian/ Pakistani restaurants in Renton Charge for at par or even worse quality. read more

Went in yesterday to pick up my takeout order. had to wait even longer. When I sat down to eat the veggie pakoras were hard like a rock, worst. food ever. it looked like it was from day before they put it in oil again and over cooked it, it almost. looked burnt. Never ordering from there again don't waste your money by going to Renton Spice King read more

Very flavorful and delicious but there is no way, absolutely NO way this restaurant is good value. The place is in a ugly setting and lacks atmosphere yet they price their offerings higher than at nicer Indian restaurants. It has a single $ but should in fact be listed as $$ or $$$. Yelp who assigns the $ price value? Ordered the Tikka Masala Chicken which indeed tasted amazing. Lots of sauce but a pity amount of chicken. At these prices and at this location, at a bare minimum, their course should include 1) more (and least 2x) chicken 2) rice and 3) naan ( as opposed to rice OR naan). When you do let me know this has changed and then I will be first to line up for weekly visits. I guess repeat and regular patronage is not their goal. Again no complains on the flavors which were tasty, just down on the value advertised based on quantity and location offered. Sadly I will not return, and frankly felt robbed. read more

Biryani was not good. Clumpy and not tasty. I was thoroughly disappointed and won't be going back.

Hands down, the best Indian food I've ever had! Funny story, so my husband and friends all have electrical school right across the street, and right next to their building is my work in renton and I've been hearing about how amazing this place is for years until I got hired and decided I wanted to try this place. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala (my favorite) while my coworker's ordered the lunch special chicken curry wrap. They were friendly, their service was amazing, and best of all their food was mind blowing! Best Indian food I've ever had. There's so much flavor in one dish! And also this place is inside the DK Market, so don't let the looks get to you- at first I thought it was sketch, but after hearing the hype and trying it out myself, I highly recommend this place. read more

Went here last week during lunch and it was amazing! The chicken wrap was under $7 and tasted absolutely amazing. I can't wait to come back and eat here again. The mall that it is in looks a little sketchy from the outside but don't let that stop you from going in! This place is truly a hidden gem :) read more

This is a sketch location inside a random Asian supermarket, so you'll likely be scratching your head like I did. But yes you're in the right spot, and lucky that you found it. I thought I had found my Indian go-to on the Ave, but glad I didn't settle! This place is AMAZING. First, is the chicken tandoori: definitely not your average lightly spiced rubbed and splashed with food coloring bland chicken. We ordered the dinner place which came on a sizzling platter with onions and peppers. Their marinade is amazing and every bite was a flavor explosion. We also ordered the chicken Tikka masala (a staple) but wasn't too wowed; still good but a little on the sweet side and not quite bursting with the spices. Also had lamb vindaloo which was very savory, along with their good portioned sized garlic and plain naan. This will be my new Indian fix until I find something better. read more

Spice King has been my go to Indian restaurant for years. I always order the spicy Lamb Vindaloo and garlic naan with a mango lassi to temper the heat. The owner Rahm is one of the nicest people I know and treats us as if we are family dining at his home every time we visit the restaurant. I need to go check out their Seattle location on Pike Street and will post a review about that location. read more

I have been coming here for years and this place will never disappoint you if you are looking for some amazing Indian food! Being a foodie I have tried many restaurants specializing in Indian food but none can quite compare. Looking for a snack? Their meat samosa are a must or even their fish pakora with some of their mint sauce. You can't go wrong with any of their main dishes either! Chicken tikka masala and their butter chicken are perfection. Definitely stop in and give this place a try if you feel up to it! read more

God, I'm serious....THIS. PLACE. IS. SO. FIRE! if you only ever take one review I write seriously, let it be this one! Spice king is so good in every regard. The staff is so hospitable and lovely--we came in the first day governor Inslee approved restaurants reopening indoors at 25% but this restaurant was still deciding on when to open. Nevertheless, they invited us to sit at a table and eat because we were coming from far and weren't yet headed home--we would've otherwise had to eat in the car which would've been so messy. We had a paneer and a chicken wrap, the butter chicken, and two desserts. All of it was as amazing as I remembered. I brought my friend who said this Indian food is the closest he's had in the US to authentic Indian food and loved it so much he nearly ordered another meal to bring home had we been headed back that way sooner. And the prices!!!! THE PRICES YALLL!!!! They are so cheap! I have literally rented a car just to drive down to Spice King, twice! And every time I'm passing by Renton I go here! This is a MUST Try!! Don't miss out! read more

Spice king is the king of Indian food in the area. The location takes a little navigation through a great multicultural grocery store. You do have to say a little prayer to find a parking spot. But the Indian food is amazing. Cost about half many other places in the area. This became a favorite. read more

My fist this eating here. Been multiple time to the DK Market when this restaurant is attached. Pleasantly surprised to find this is not a typical East Indian all you can eat buffet place. They have a very wide assortment of various dishes that appeared to be authentic and not Americanized. I made that call based on seeing menu items that featured goat with bone and for chicken with bone and dark meat. Unfortunately I am a novice with East Indian food and can't recall or recognize the names of the various dishes on the menu. I ordered a dish made with goat with bone. Forgot the name of style of preparation. It was in a red spicy sauce with bell peppers. I asked for medium hot and it was spicy but not overly so. Could have up the heat level and will do next time. The entree came with option of rice or naan. I really love freshly made bread of all sorts but also love rice to soak up the sauces topically the best part of Indian dishes. The meat was tender but the portions small. Plenty of rice and it was prepared well and was definitely needed to go with the goat "stew". I ordered a naan as an added item. It came late and I had finished half my meal (used up the sauces) before it came out. It was ok but not great. Overall I enjoyed my meal. Would normally have ordered more than one entree to sample the cook's abilities. Since I was dining along and was not able to eat more, I had just the one item to base my sense of this place. I will for sure return. Hopefully with my wife or friends so we can sample more items. Will adjust the stars if I get better service and if the portions and quality justify the cost. My meal cost $20 to include tax and tip. One entree, side of naan, and just water for drink. read more

Being that Spice King is a 2 minute drive from my apartment it's my go-to for (very cheap) Indian food. I first ordered their food from Uber Eats before realizing I lived so close. When I went there for the first time I was a bit surprised. The restaurant is located in this weird warehouse that has a grocery store, a salon, and the restaurant. The parking lot is usually a mess. It has some seating at the front and then an area behind a curtain which I assume has more seating. I usually order pick up from the Uber Eats app. Half of the time I get the message saying my food's ready then walk in to grab it and they make me wait another 10 minutes before they bring it out. I order food from Spice King about once every other week. My order is generally the same every time - Chicken Tikka, veg paneer pakoras, samosas, and garlic naan. Most of the time it's decent and the portions are quite large, especially considering it only costs about $20 for all of that. This place can be pretty inconsistent though. Sometimes the food is completely flavorless, and occasionally they've make the portions of the sides way smaller. Overall, clearly I like this place because I continue to purchase food here, but there are definitely way better options for Indian food in the area even if they are a bit pricier. read more

Not sure why they are called spice king as the food we ordered had no spices or flavor at all!

Quaint place inside grocery store complex. Delicious Indian food at great price. Portions are large enough for 2 meals. As good as Naan and Curry, I love that place. Now I have two places in Renton to get yummy Indian food read more

Oh Lordy this is the best Indian food in Renton by far!! I came here on a Monday afternoon and the place was not busy. The lady at the counter was so nice and very friendly. She told me to wait about 15 minutes so they can prepare the best food for me. Ok sure I can do that. After 15 minutes I got my food and can't wait to drive home and share with my family. Butter Chicken - 5/5 the aroma and spice are so fricking GOOD. Tandoori Chicken - 5/5 The best tandoori chicken ever. Garlic Naan - So fresh and fluffy can't stop eating. Super good! Please go here and support this place the service is great and they are so friendly. We will definitely coming back again for more of your awesome food. The family that owns this restaurant is very nice. Their prices are fairly reasonable when compared to other nearby Indian restaurants. You can get a family meal for roughly $35 - two meat curries, two vegetable curries, naan and rice. This does not include tandoori. I like their chicken wrap, but that's about it. For a little over $5 you can get delicious, chicken, lettuce and veggie wrapped in naan. I can only finish about half of it only because it's so big. It's pretty tasty! Cheap eats for sure. Actually, I take it back because their Chai Tea is flipping awesome too. Authentic and delicious. I've tried their curries and I hate to say I was disappointed. They lacked flavor aside from the spice of the curry... in my humble opinion. The potato in my vegetable curry wasn't even heated all the way through. The parking lot can be a nightmare. I was actually waiting for a spot and this man stole it from under my nose. It's kind of located in Renton's ghetto. It's all good in da hood! NOT really. read more

From the dish that I tried the food here is 5 STAR (at the end of this review I explain why it's not a 5/5) I had the Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan. 5/5 This dish was very filling and very tasteful! I ordered the spice level to be 5 star and it was that spicy (but I like spicy foods) but I enjoyed it because it still had its flavor! The Naan was very good! 5/5. I will update my review when I try more foods from here, but for now, this place is a 5 STAR place for some good eats. Most dishes are around $10 or so BUT THEY DO HAVE A. DAILY SPECIAL THAT IS DIFFERENT EVERYDAY AND IT'S ONLY $7 !! Also, this place is hidden inside the "DK Market" but luckily it's the 2nd shop on the left as you walk in from the West entrance (Not sure if there is more than one entrance, but if there is I hoe that I clarified where to find it) WHY NOT A 5 STAR REVIEW: -Place has no AC / so it stays fairly warm -Slight communication gap (could have just been the lady who took my order) read more

I'm not even a huge fan of Indian food but this place is great. The food is always fresh and delicious. I usually just get the chef's special because it is a good deal of food, you get a main dish, rice and naan for only $6.99. Plus the portion is large enough to make almost two meals! I do have to say that they scaled back the portions a tad since my first time there but it's still good food for a good price if you do the chef's special. Otherwise it's a little spendy, which I find most Indian food places seem to be, what's up with that anyway? It's mostly just chicken, veggies, some sauce and rice, it can't be that expensive to make! read more

I think I've found my favorite Indian spot. I've never had the chance to come here because of the hours this place keeps. Like DK Market, it closes at 8. Hubby usually is home by 7:45. It doesn't give us the chance to fully enjoy a place. However hubby came home early-ish one Friday and we decided to give this place a spin - so glad we did! I ordered their Chicken Shahi Korma. Chicken was cooked to perfection and was well spiced. The Korma was one of the better kormas I've had since moving to Washington state. Loved their naan - piping hot and right out of the tandoor. Hubby ordered a vegetarian dish and some poori (sometimes spelled puri). He was in love with both...that's hard for him to do. The ultimate surprise was their paneer pakora. Most places dip the pakora in a chickpea flour batter, fry it and then call it a day. Not here, my friend. Not here. Their paneer is hand cut and then filled with a chutney, THEN battered and then fried. It makes a world of difference. We came back a week later, on a Saturday after a not so stressful Ikea trip. Ordered their chicken tikka masala (a bit on the sweet side, but will get it spicier next time) and hubby ordered their stuffed parathas. The stuffed parathas were out of this world - he ordered one cauliflower and one paneer. I was quite surprised at how big they were. Clearly they were meant to be shared. I was allowed a bite of the cauliflower one, but he totally mowed down the paneer one....he clearly had no intention of sharing! Would I come back? YES. read more

$5 CHICKEN WRAP. The size of your forearm. Thick, soft NAAN. In your mouth. You really can't go wrong eating in here. Most dishes are fantastic, flavorful and succulent. We have been seen wiping the plate clean with Naan and/or finger. Staff is eager to please and helpful when you are undecided. Orders togo, however, can vary. I've had the driest tandoori chicken takeout from here, so yeah, there is a trust issue. Monkey got eyes on you, king. OHMAHGERD! What a great find in Renton! My friends and I recently raided IKEA, and after going through the huge maze of wonder, we found ourselves quite hungry. Being avid Yelpers, we looked up places to eat in the area and stumbled upon Spice King. Now let me be honest with you. When we first pulled up, I was like WTF IS THIS?! It looked totally shady...a restaurant inside a warehouse, creepy, right? But upon further inspection, this place turned out to be awesome! Spice King is located inside a warehouse similar to Costco, and I'd compare it to Mitsuwa or Marukai, only predominantly Indian. When you enter, Spice King is located on the left just past a beauty salon (mostly threading from what I could see passing by), and then you enter a huge grocery store of ethnic yumminess...and not just Indian! All sorts of ethnic goodness. The staff at Spice King were incredibly, over-the-top accommodating and nice. My friends and I went with vegetable pakoras (appetizer), chicken tikka masala, meat saag (chicken), saag paneer, and garlic naan. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, was delicious and a delight to my tastebuds. We ordered everything "medium" spicy, and it was very pleasant and flavorful. My favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala (that's my favorite Indian dish in general), which I slathered all over my rice and naan. Every dish you order comes with a choice of a side of basmati rice or plain naan. We had read on a Yelp review that the garlic naan was to die for, so gave that a try. It was absolutely amazing - total buttery and garlicy goodness. It's also large enough to share amongst 3-4 people, depending on how hungry you are. Behind the counter, you can order a variety of Indian desserts and sweets. I was way too full to get anything on this trip, but I will definitely check it out next time. Prices here are very reasonable for the portions you get. And the company and service here is unparalleled to any experience I've had in the Washington area so far. There appear to be a lot of really great places to eat (ethnic) in the Renton area, but do give this place a try. After your meal, head over to the store and stock up on some hard-to-find ethnic items (and candy)! read more

Easy to pick up to-go. Reasonably priced and super yummy. Kind of odd location I almost missed but worth it!

I ordered the tandoori chicken and fries from the counter of the small hot restaurant tucked in the middle of a warehouse in the middle of an industrial district. I eagerly bite into the bright red chicken looking for a very flavorful taste to match it's bright color. Disappointingly there's almost zero spice or taste to this chicken besides chicken taste. The chicken Had been cooked earlier and was placed in the microwave after I ordered it. The french fries are skinny fries cooked about perfectly but with zero salt. The salad was a bright spot it was very tasty. Service here was Fast and friendly. I was basically pretty disappointed with my visit there being all the yelp reviews with five stars I will have to return to check and make sure that this wasn't a one time thing. read more

I bought a groupon to this restaurant and decided to try it out today. I ordered buttered chicken, meat samosa, rice and garlic naan. Buttered chicken is so flavorful and the chicken is so moist. The meat samosa is filled with lamb, peas and spices. SO GOOD! And the tamarind sauce with the samosa just compliments the whole thing very well. Rice was ok but the garlic naan was delicious dipped into the buttered chicken. Would definitely recommend this place to Indian cuisine lovers! read more

We had a groupon, so we went for dinner. Our groupon was for a punch-card which gave you 3 free entrees - but only one per visit. The location is within the DK Market. They had some troubles working with the vegan. There are several options on the menu that can be tweaked to be vegan, which is good. But the cook had troubles remembering that there was a vegan, so I wouldn't totally trust the food given was vegan. (They sent out roti covered in butter.) The vegan had the aloo gobi, and it was really greasy or something. It wasn't all that good. Two had chicken tikka masala - regular and spicy. The spicy is really hot. And they have really good tikka sauce. The last person had chicken fingers and french fries. They were okay. You don't expect spectacular chicken tenders and fries from an Indian restaurant. We had 3 entrees, and since they only do one punch/entree per visit, only one was removed - the cheapest one. I suppose that is up to them, but it felt very much like a bait and switch. I'm not sure if groupon didn't give all the details or if the staff didn't do it right. We ended up with a pretty expensive dinner for what we got including having an entree removed. Overall, I don't really recommend Spice King. There's better and cheaper Indian food elsewhere. read more

Absolutely love Indian food and this place, when in the area is where I would go or recommend to anyone. While the location is kind of strange it's a place you should check out if you want good food. The service is always good, while the food can be a bit slow some times, it's worth it. There portions are pretty large, usually have some to take home even during lunch time. The mixed tandoori is really good, lots of food and full of flavor. Or, if you want something with a really nice creamy sauce, order the butter chicken! You won't be disappointed! Ensure you order garlic Naan, if you like that kind of thing, otherwise go with the regular. read more

Pretty good food - probably my top choice for Indian food within the Renton/Tukwila area. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but they have an extended room for more seating. Parking is limited, due to the oriental store next door. We ordered garlic naan, Tandoori chicken (half), Butter chicken, rice & mango lassi. The tandoori chicken and mango lassi were the best ones I've had so far. As for the Butter chicken, it was good, but it could have had more meat. Overall, dinner at the restaurant was delicious. Warehouse ethnic market in industrial Renton. Sound good yet? No? ... ... ... Fresh, hot, crispy-soft naan? Big helpings of basmati rice? How about rich, creamy, spicy curries? Now we talkin'? You might notice that there is so much to not like about this place by appearances. The location isn't anything to holler about, either, but the FOOD... the food is definitely something to, say, Yelp about. But first, ohh my chai. Big complaint, there was simply not enough when you're slurping it down like it was liquid spice candy. Soy milk, in it I think? With a frothy layer on top? Mmm. And then the veggie pakora... hot and steamy, crunch crunch layers of savory and spicy goodness. With some spicy hot sauce they brought out, I don't even know what was in it but... Mmmm. Then an actual BIG helping of rice (don't skimp on my rice, man), and a hot plate of butter chicken and lamb coconut. Butter chicken? Chicken chunks could have been cut a little smaller, but spread that wonderful sauce all over everything and the world becomes good again. Lamb coconut, probably the single best lamb curry I've had. Usually lambby flavor is just the guy that sticks out at the flavor party, for better or worse. But here, the lamb overtones blend succulently into the flavor of the curry. Mmmmm. This was some real food. If food makes you happy, then come here and be happy. read more
