I've been coming to this place for the last 3 years -- I used to eat lunch here 3-5 times a week when I worked downtown Seattle. Now that I've moved away from Seattle, I still make it out to Spice King in Renton at least once a week. The food is amazing, and with how challenging and chaotic the economy has been lately, the prices are refreshingly affordable. I also love supporting small businesses. As a former chef myself, I know firsthand how much work and preparation goes into putting together a daily lunch menu. This is a wonderful place to eat, and they cater for parties too. The food is always well seasoned. If you're ever in the Seattle area -- including their downtown locations -- this is a spot you can't go wrong stopping by. read more

Ordered through a delivery app and we enjoyed the hot meal and spill-free packaging. We tried the butter chicken, lamb curry, and saag paneer. Opted for one side of rice and 2 sides of roti, which were included with the entrees. The spice levels were accurately graded and I felt like the level 3 was a true medium heat, and level 4 was medium-hot. Enough to make you sweat a little. While this place does not dethrone my favorite go-to spot, they did a good job and all the flavors were rich, complex, and meats were cooked well. The lamb curry was my favorite of the lot, and I liked the spiced rice more than the plain roti but it was all delicious - no complaints! read more

Yesterday I brought a friend who'd never tried Spice King before, he hasn't ever had pakora before either. The vegetable pakora wet some of the tastiest pakora I've ever had. The Shahi Paneer was a totally unique preparation - the paneer was crumbled into the sauce so every bite was a paneer bite. And the spice level was just perfect. The naan was the perfect texture as well - with crisp bits despite being soft throughout. Spice King is one of my favorite Indian places, everything I've tried has been outstanding. read more

Even my Indian neighbors can vouch the authenticity of this restaurant. It's a small casual restaurant. The food is great - we especially like the butter chicken and spinach. Every dish is flavorful. read more

The food here is always so flavorful! It's clean, they are always friendly and welcoming. I love the chicken wrap & butter chicken here. It's always a must along with the rice and garlic naan. This time around my partner got the lamb and it was perfectly cooked. I am normally not a lamb fan because it has a stench to me. BUT their lamb was cooked so well that I was able to tolerate it. My only complaint is I wish the food was served hotter. read more

Spice King - Chicken wrap, butter chicken & garlic naan. - Indian Near Me - Renton, Washington

This is a small Indian restaurant in a locality where you may not expect to see one. This is part of the DK Market. It may not give you the best "first" impressions when you walk in. Even though it's a small place, they do have quite a few tables available for dine-in. The menu consists of variety of offerings. Appetizers, snacks, Wraps, Tandoori, Thali, Entrees, Biryanis, breads and beverages. We ordered Paneer wrap, Meat Thali, and chicken biryani. You have to place the order at the counter and the food will be served to the table. Also ordered a Mango Lassi as well. Service was delightful - very friendly staffs. The wait time was roughly 5-10 minutes. They served the Thali first. It had rice, naan, salad, kheer, couple of chicken curries and the tandoori chicken. The portion was really good. The food was delicious. Enjoyed the tandoori chicken - done to perfection. The wrap and the biryani came after that. Wrap is very impressive for it's portions. Lots of paneer tikka cubes, with rice, lettuce and sauces wrapped in a freshly made naan. Loved the wrap. Biryani is not the best one I had, but it was flavorful. It was served with Raita on the side; they gave more raita when we asked for. It was a very pleasant experience for us at Spice King. Really enjoyed the food and the warmth of the hospitality. It looked like more people come there for Uber / doordash orders - seen so many people picking up while we were there. Must be a popular place on those apps. No wonder why the hype! Food is great! read more

Ordered the chicken tikka level 3 spice and spinach na'an. I think they forgot my rice but that's okay. The chicken was tough and a little dry but the sauce was flavorful and super spicy. The mint chutney had a funny aftertaste and I ended up tossing it. The na'an was good, little soggy because I got it to go but not bad overall. read more

Wife and i picked up a take out order an hour or so ago. We got 4 mains, the korma with goat, butter chicken, malai kofta, and mushroom matar malai, 3 orders of garlic naan, and rice. This was around $80. The flavors of the sauces were good and heat was ok. The only issues were the lack of actual goat meat. There was 7 sizable pieces of bone to maybe 3 pieces of actual meat. This was really disappointing. There was also very very little mushrooms in the mushroom matar. They also did not add the paneer to the dish, which we did add when we placed the order. Again, sauce flavors are good, but may not be the best bang for your buck if you're looking for ample proteins in your dishes. read more

Located inside the DK Market, this spot is easy to drive past. Glad a co worker told me about it. There are a couple tables inside if you want to eat but I decided to get my order to go. I got the chicken tikka masala, jasmine rice, and some garlic naan. There is actually enough food to feed two people. The tikka masala was piping hot even after I got back to my work site. The flavor was fantastic. Dare I say, the best I've ever had. Yes!! The garlic naan was just fluffy and garlic flavored enough to not overpower my meal. I have to come back to try some other dishes. Don't sleep on this place. If you're near here, you gotta make a trip to get some real good Indian food. read more

I have been grocery shopping at the market here for years and always pass this restaurant by. Well, no more. We popped in today and were hit in the face with a wave of the most amazing smelling Indian food. Well lit clean, surprisingly large inside and smelling great. What else could I want? The menu is decently sized to cover all the flavors, proteins and size of appetite. We started with an order of veggie pakoras, and then both got a wrap with paneer and chicken. Also in the wrap was lettuce, peas, rice, and the best sauce. I don't know what it was exactly, but it was herby and thick and everything I could want. The wraps are massive. Like, as big as my face. I took half home for dinner (it was just as good cold, btw). The lady behind the counter was so nice, and very attentive to the space. She knew ingredients to everything made in house, which I greatly appreciate as someone who has to keep an eye out for allergens. This may be the next "must stop" when I am shopping and will surely be the newest addition to the "get something for the significant other also because they will smell it on you and you can't hide it" list. read more

Our favorite take-out in the Renton area, we've been going to Spice King since 2019! We haven't switched up our order at all, we typically get paneer tikka masala (sometimes we'll spice it up and get chicken), jasmine rice, and naan. Sounds basic but oh man, this is so good! We've never eaten there, we only get this as pick-up take-out. It's kind of in a grocery store but also not, and yet it's perfect. Everybody has always been so kind during pickup, even throughout the pandemic, and we're so grateful for this local business! read more

This is a small place with decent number of tables near the DK International Market. They have an order and sit-down kind of system. I loved that they checked on our preferred spice levels while taking the order. Paneer Naan - 5/5. Good amount of grated paneer filling. The kid relished it. Big portion too. Chole Bhaturey - 4/5. Huge portion size! It was delicious when had piping hot. Bhatura wasn't excessively greasy, the chole was spicy like I had requested. It was tasty no doubt, but not the best chole I've had. Goat biryani - 3/5. Decent biryani, nothing much to add. Tandoori chicken - 2.5/5. Served sizzling hot on a cast iron plate with some onions and peppers to compliment. The usage of food color was a turn off for me personally. The meat could've been more tender, it was on the chewy side specially the thigh pieces. Overall, this is a good place to satisfy your Indian food cravings. The prices are also very reasonable for the portion size. read more

Our favorite Indian food restaurant. Always delicious thali platters with a variety of fresh dishes. Amazing mango lassi, rice pudding, chutneys, chaat, we love everything here. Also love to enjoy the rotation of Indian music videos while we eat. Customer service is great and so is the value. Five stars!!!! read more

Really great food! You wouldn't know it since it's so tucked away but the flavors were all spot on and the portions are great. We had some butter chicken, pakora, naan, and a mango lasse. Still, my favorite Indian place for years now! Never disappointed. And I love the Bollywood TV that is going on.

Spice King is a nice place to stop by and get a bite to eat. I was pressed for time during my last visit so I just ordered a Thali and sweet lassie. Thali was fresh and had a good assortment. Naan bread was warm and very soft. The gal who took my order was super nice and let me substitute the Keer with a Gulab jamun because I was about to order some for a side anyway. The salad is kinda boring. Just shredded lettuce and ranch dressing. Rice was decent, kinda bland but that's fine- just mix it with the other side dishes. Spice King has always been clean inside and I've never had an issue with a dirty table. I just wish they'd bring back the full on dessert case. read more

Hidden gem. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about but the food is amazing! Curries are tasty, chicken is flavorful and naan is made right! The portions are surprirsingly big and there is good value for money. The women taking orders are extremely helpful and kind. Although it's in a supermarket, don't overlook this place. This little restaurant gets all the small things right. Many people overlook the wraps on the menu (fish/chicken) but I've found them to be affordable, generous portions and delicious! read more

All I can say is WOW! This place is my absolute favorite go-to indian restaurant. If I am being honest, I was a little apprehensive about a restaurant within a food market. However, I was super hungry and thought I would try the place out with a couple of friends. To start, the girl working the register was super super nice and totally helped me navigate the menu and suggested something I would enjoy (because i'm not super rounded on indian cuisine). THE WRAP WAS ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I would rent a car just to go to this place for the wrap I got. 1000000000000000% would recommend this place! read more

Hmm. Maybe I have a bad memory but I remember much better value/quality for the dollar. Food was ok. not generous nor anything special. What would it hurt to do a bit of garnish? Fancy up the small portion of rice? Walked away with an almost $20 meal for one, I dressed up myself at home. read more

Very friendly and great service. Food was very tasty and good serving amounts. The garlic naan was just the way I like it. Price was right.

2 stars because food was super good, however it gave me food poisoning and threw up for the first time in 11 years.

I wouldn't go back. I went here because the Indian restaurant I wanted to go to wasn't open yet. I ordered baingan and veg pakoras. The pakoras weren't fully cooked (raw batter inside), and they weren't seasoned. My preference is for them to be dusted with seasoning. The eggplant was very plain. I selected a spice level of 2, but all you could taste was the heat. With that low spice level, I should have been able to taste the flavors of the ingredients, but I couldn't. My stomach was in distress after this meal. My guess is the undercooked pakoras, but who knows. read more

We ordered delivery through DoorDash. I got the butter chicken and rice, which was pretty yummy. I would have enjoyed it if the chicken were in a little smaller chunks. My husband got the chicken vindaloo and rice, and it came with the chicken shredded-he said he's never had vindaloo with shredded chicken before, and preferred chunks instead. The prices are great for the portions. We were disappointed to have ordered garlic naan and samosas but were given paneer pakora and veggie pakora instead. We wished Spice King would have called us to inform us that our order was unable to be filled-we did not want the other sides and would have just been happy with the two entrees. The paneer pakora was bland. The veggie pakora was surprisingly yummy (even though not what we ordered). I liked the two different sauces it came with. Fun to switch between them! read more

I saw this place on doordash. I was skeptical so I went to Yelp and saw that there were mostly 5 star reviews with the occasional 1 or 2 stars. ** I ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan and chicken Pankora ** The butter chicken was great, naan was perfect and the chicken pankora was delicious BUT it was super dry as if it had been sitting out all day. Now, let me tell you, I still ate all of it just had to tug a little harder lol still I could taste that if this was fresh it would've been BOMB.com I'll definitely order from them again!! And maybe next time I'll be able to give them that extra star! Sincerely, Satisfied read more

I remember one of my friends recommended this place and said it was really good. So I ordered like the whole menu, just for everything to come out so bland and tasteless...like every dish was missing salt for me.......idk how this place got a high rating.....the only thing that had flavor was the combo red dish which came out watery and not tandori dry like you would expect(dish above pictured. I'm literally throwing this whole meal away. Hoping to get a buffet style meal that was a decent price for everything $54 The saag paneer was more like cream of watered down spinach. The vegetable Pandora was saltless as well, the sauces were watered down tasting also(literally a puddle of water in my bowl).....I even ordered extra green sauce, which I regret, I also ordered the lamb vindaloo, very plain as well, as the buttered chicken very light in color and bland as welll.....Not to mention the wait time was over 40 min to get the food, take out and now I have to find another meal. 25 driving 15 waiting, dine in customers def take top priority, over takeout orders. I'm assuming they just add water to the curry when they're running low, or something because all my dishes tasted like watered down curry. Tried to return the food, but got takeout so this was a epic no for me.... read more

I get spice king very often and it is usually great. Today I ordered the vegetable tikka masala like I always do, the lid of the dish had a V for vegetarian. I took a bite and bit into a huge chunk of beef, then realized the dish was full of meat. I have been vegetarian for 4 years so I am upset about this situation. I was only ordering for me so I'm not sure how it got mixed up but I am definitely disappointed read more

I have been going here for over 3 hrs now. Initially I was turned off by the location but after trying their food (& checking their food safety ratings) I actually started liking this place. The taste of most of their food is really good. Also when you ask for spicy you get a decent spice level. I usually get the aloo mutter mushroom or Chana. Their naan/ roti/ paratha is good too. Definitely recommended. read more

Spice King is a fav destination of mine for a quick lunch/weekend dinner. They have limited tables;, alternatively order a takeout. I have tried Spice King's Chat for appetizer. It is tangy and a great starter. You will never go wrong with paranthas (flat bread), anything with the name "Tikka" or "Keema" in it since the ownership and chef is North India. You can also go for the spread called Mixed Tandoori, a sizzling platter of goodies. For the uninitiated, I would recommend the Thali which is more of a combo meal with appetizer, entrees and dessert. I would check the spice level on non-cream dishes. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed! read more

Tasty, affordable food with great service? Spice King checks off all the boxes! I'm on a mission to try everything on the menu with my roommates, but my favorites so far are the butter chicken and goat khari. Had this vegetarian okra dish that was also bomb!! Mango lassi is tasty and well-priced! Naan is not my favorite but does the job. The basmati rice is some of the best I've EVER had. So fluffy and subtly flavorful, complements all dishes. My one complaint (not really a complaint) is I wish it was spicier. I always get 5/5 and most of the time it feels like a 1/5. I do eat very spicy food so probably just me. Maybe they can do a 10/5? TIP: I usually call in to order so my food is ready when I arrive. Also do this instead of ordering online because it's a bit cheaper. read more

Housed in a strip mall/market, you might miss it! We were excited to try this place because of reviews, and because a couple of our regular haunts in the area weren't doing dine-in. I was kind of underwhelmed. Butter chicken felt grainy, goat vindaloo...sauce was good, goat was overcooked. Paneer Pakora felt like it had been cooked in old oil. Not sure I'll try it again.
