Service was good, ambience was ok, manager was attentive.but the food is far beyond good. Well, at least it was better than the union square location. Chu - chee duck was too salty. I asked them to modify it by adding more coconut milk but they added sugar instead! Btw, not even half of the duck as what it describes on the web (menu page). Glass noodles was a little too oily and the shrimp was overcooked because it was half black. 2 out of 3 of the Chiilies tray were not probably covered. Needed lids. Drink was good. Must fix the smell of the restaurant especially the entrance. "Something is stucked by the ventilation or heater ". read more

Thou the food is good and even the atmosphere was great! But hunnny the service here is the pits they are so slow for a place that's not super busy mind you I know it's Valentine's Day but this is the day you'd think the service would be the best but it's not and how is it that they have the bar and kitchen close at 11:30 come on now and they they didn't even give a last call notice So I give Brooklyn Spice 2 stars and that's only because a 1 would not be good cause the food is yummy and the drinks are good. My suggestion go to the Spice in the city!! read more

Food is always delicious in the Park Slope location when I come here. Charlie is the best server ever! So prompt, courteous and accommodating. Love Spice and would definitely recommend anyone here. Here's the description on the menu - Home-Style Beef Panang * tender beef, kaffir lime leaf and thick-spicy-salty curry. So I thought okay I haven't had beef for a while. Let's give it a try. After first bite, Wow. Impossible to chew. Ugggh. Why is it soooooo sweet? I can't taste any other seasoning except sugar ?? Feeling frustrated so I text my man at home - "I just had the grossest "Thai" or whatever you want to categorize that in my entire life. I feel regret to put those pieces of rubber in my stomach. I was going to have a nice dinner with you this evening and now my stomach is filled with junk and unwanted sugar and calorie." Why didn't I return the dish ? It was only $10 at lunch hours. I could express comments with the waitress but what's the point? The chef or the cook is not up to the caliber to understand how to cook real Thai. Why waste energy? My fellow New Yorkers, I'm sure you've had real authentic Thai food in your life at some point. Why waste your stomach at a place where chefs treat you like an idiot, thinking we (the Americans) will eat anything as long as it's super SWEET. Don't let these Americanized Asian restaurants insult your intelligence. read more

My first time at Spice in Brooklyn and I LOVED IT!! I usually go to a few locations in NYC and I've never been disappointed over the past 3 years. I'm gladly adding this BK location to my list and I'll be going back sooner than later. I was told about this location and although skeptical before deciding to go, I must say it holds up to everything great about the other locations. I did stick to my usual dishes, gotta have the jade seafood dumplings as an appetizer. And I had my usual, grilled honey duck w/jasmine rice as an entree. Yum yum YUM to it all!! They're always inexpensive on your wallet and generous to your tastebuds and belly! 4 thumbs up (including my big toes) Lol read more

Service was definitely improved, and I had the bacon fried rice which was nice and my son had the curry chicken. Both were good. We ordered seafood tom yum, with a spicy kick as well as a "Caesar salad". It was not a Caesar salad. It was a salad with Asian dressing and Asian croutons. read more

One of my Seamless go-tos for the area. Swift delivery (anywhere from twenty to forty minutes) and consistent quality of ingredients and cooking (I've had one out of ten to twelve orders that seemed like the kitchen wasn't having a good night). The appetizers are maybe the strongest part of the menu. The calamari is surprisingly fresh and well-cooked, and comes with a delicious tomato-mint sauce. They should be bottling and selling that sauce. (For all I know, they are buying it already in a bottle...but I don't care, it's really good.) The various dumplings/potstickers and the Siam Bun are all solid as well. I'm partial to the rice entrees -- the 6 o'clock spicy and green curry rice dishes are both really good. If I'm feeling like more veggies, the Japanese Eggplant/basil dish is quite good with chicken. I'm not a huge fan of the noodle dishes here, perhaps because they don't travel as well as the others. Also, I found the mixed seafood/meat approach (chicken, shrimp, squid) in the Drunk Man noodles to be a bit offputting--too many textures going on at once for my taste. Curries are average as well, the best I've tried being the panang. It's a bit on the pricy side compared to some of the alternatives (you can order similarly from SkyIce for a few dollars less per person), but consistency and speed are paramount when you're looking for dinner to knock on your door after a long day at work. Overall, some of the best delivery Thai in the area read more

Uber eats fried calamari and curry pork with jasmine rice. I was very disappointed in their food because I have eaten here many times and the food was great. However, today my order was inedible because the food tasted horrible. The fried calamari (9 dollars) was stale, cold, and tasted old as if it was reheated. Also, my curry potbelly pork (14 dollars) ordered rice (jasmine) was uncooked, cold, and inedible. I had to waste it and cook my own rice. I will never order at this restaurant again and I should have known something was up because before the start of COVID they were closed by the Health Department. read more

Nice little place. Walked in at 6:45 on a Tues. Got a table but they were hopping by 7. Had a chicken basil wrap app, an exotic greens salad, pork belly w/ red curry, and geyser shrimp in clay pot. $90 incl 4 glasses of wine/tax. Food was great, especially the app and the shrimp in clay pot. Service was ok if a little harried. They need to learn to clear plates before serving the next course. Very friendly tho. At one point this was my go to spot and no one could tell me anything different about this location, but now I'm starting to see why the rating isn't that great. Came here without looking up the reviews first, which was a mistake. This was probably the worst Thai food I've had in NYC. I'm so confused how they can get away with such mediocre food and remain in business! Everything is overly sweet and just not good. They need a new chef. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Curry puff which is always one of my favorites was in a weird dry pie-crust and filling was blah. Papaya salad sweet and very spicy but otherwise without the fresh flavors (lime, mint, etc) that usually make it so tasty. Calamari was fine --definitely the best thing we had but just fine. Steamed dumplings were fine but black bean vinaigrette dipping sauce was again overly sweet. We left disappointed. Service was rushed but if food was good could have been forgiven. read more

I will start by saying that the food here is quite tasty. I am giving them 2 stars because if their inability to follow instructions. I order takeout from them and always say do not put any sauce on the fritters or the gyoza. Yet, somehow, it always arrives covered in sauce! My son loves their food, but doesn't like things drowned in sauce. I have called them to address it, and they make it my fault saying if I ask for sauce on the side, it means extra sauce. This makes no sense when I specifically say "No sauce on fritters, sauce only on the side." You can clearly see what I asked for in the photo but they still sent in wrong. Please do better Spice. First time back here since the pandemic and I have to say nothing has changed. Still the same great tasting food and speedy service. My wife and I had our usual chicken drunk man noodles and Siamese fried rice to share and we started off with the shrimp shumai. They have a beautiful little backyard with about 7 tables all spaced out so you can feel comfortable eating out during these crazy times. One thing I will will say I noticed was they had a lunch special that came with a free appetizer. We didn't try it this time as it's half portions compared to regular entrees and since we were sharing it wouldn't have been enough. Didn't look like a bad deal will def try it out next time. read more

I ordered delivery from the place and the food was delicious. We had the crispy pork belly over rice with some oddly named egg on top which was amazing and the perfect amount of spicy, coconut rice which I could have eaten about fifteen quarts of, some type of dumpling I can't remember but was super good and steamed vegetables so I didn't feel so bad about myself for being a chunky monkey. The food prices are moderate to low priced. My husband and I shared the above food, and I'm pregnant and we were full for $30 including tip. I'm so confused by the people complaining about this price of this place. It's totally average. You could barely make this at home for their prices. Delivery was quick too! Definitely will order from here often. read more

Passable, but: 1. Overpriced for what it is; 2. Fails to make clear rice is included with takeout; and 3. Stupidly throws piles of plastic utensils at people ordering take-in without asking. (This sort of mindlessness is why we have plastics pollution and global warming.) read more

Placed an order through Grubhub at 8pm. Waited an hour and a half. Tried calling the restaurant 4 times over a 15 minute span... no answer. Called Grubhub and was told the restaurant had changed their status to closed (even though they don't actually close til 10:30) sometime after receiving our order, and apparently were not going to be making the delivery. Grubhub had NO idea why they would do this and not notify us which is their obligation. By this time it was well after 10:00 and too late to eat. Absolutely shameful business practice... though after reading the bulk of their reviews, it sounds like we actually dodged a bullet. Do yourself a favor and heed mine and the rest of these warnings! This was my second time at Spice. Honestly the food is very good and reasonably priced. We had the crispy duck, chicken pad Thai, tom khan soup, papaya salad and a soft drink each and it came out to 55 dollars and we had enough food to bring home. The only reason they are getting 5 stars is because the service was eh. The waiter was so shaky and seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Besides that everything was great. read more

The anticipation was killing us. Having patronized various locations of the chain for a while, we couldn't wait for the doors to open into our very own neighborhood Spice! We ordered take out: - Papaya Salad - A little soggy, but flavorful and nicely spicy. - Warm Duck Salad - Fantastic! Best dish we ordered. Pineapples! In a great way! - Nabon Steamed Dumpling - Microwaved (or at least seemed like it). Sad, because the flavor has the potential to make a tasty dumpling. - Drunk Man Noodle (Chicken) - Tastes just like Song's Drunken Noodles, only a little less good. - Basil Vegetarian Duck - Awfully greasy, okay flavor, but impressive faux-duck texture (none of us are vegetarian, just vi-curious). We asked them to make it really spicy, but it wasn't. I'd like to know if the dumplings are differently prepared if you actually sit in the restaurant, and if the papaya salad travels better from kitchen to table than it does from door to door. Overall, the food isn't terrible, but since it's more expensive and not as good as Song, we'll probably only go for Spice when we need the occasional change in venue. read more

Whoa, the name is well deserved. When I saw that someone else mentioned that their green curry was too spicy to handle, I thought "Great!" Most Thai places in NYC don't make their food spicy enough. Well, Spice wins the award for Spiciest Green Curry in NYC. Notice I wrote "spiciest" and not "best." The curry had little going for it. Large chunks of broccoli. Tiny strips of eggplant, peppers and carrots. (Noooo...no carrots in Thai curry!) The curry also didn't have the lovely complexity that Thai curries are supposed to have. Or maybe I just couldn't tell because my taste buds had melted. The lunch special is okay. The tom yung goong wasn't horrific. My dining buddy's pad thai looked overly-goopy and completely unappetizing. There are way better pseudo-Thai options in Park Slope. read more

My young nieces were in the mood for Thai, so I placed an order around 7:45pm. My credit card was charged $49.00 (which included a $3 tip) and Seamless confirmed my order. I received a text that my order was on the way at 8:23pm. At 8:59pm, I received a call from Spice stating that my apartment was too far. I live in Fort Green, 8 blocks away from the restaurant. So, I made the 15min walked to Spice to pick up my food. When I tried to explain that it was unacceptable to call me an hour later and state you will not delivery my food, the lady with the braces handling the orders, just smiled sarcastically and stated.."well we did call". And to make matters worst, the food was over cooked and tasted terrible ...what a waste of money!!!!! I will never give this place any more business!!!! read more

Avoid anything with shrimp in it. The shrimp had been improperly deveined... the brown digestive system of about 80 percent of the shrimp was left hanging on the shrimp. We all know what the brown coloring indicates. I didn't see the fecal shrimp in my shrimp appetizer and only noticed it in my shrimp main course. I'm sure the appetizer must have been in the same condition but wasn't looking. That was my last time ordering at Spice. read more

My theory is that you have to have bad Thai in order to appreciate good Thai. Arguably this place's only potential benefit... I'm not even halfway through my meal, and I feel compelled to write a review. Service isn't the worst, but I ordered a dish with the word "Spicy" in its name at a restaurant called "Spice", and it doesn't even have a kick to it. It was in the "negative" levels of spicy. Shameful. One of my biggest pet peeves is a dish advertised as being both 1) spicy and 2) Thai and tasting like Chinese fried rice with basil leaves thrown in. Don't get me wrong, I love Chinese, but...but I came here for Thai... I just told them it wasn't spicy, gave almost the entire dish back, and asked for the check. Nope, nothing was taken off. I chose to only pay for the wine, which they at least have decent taste in. If you take your Thai seriously, you may want to think long and hard before eating here. read more

So I have a unique perspective on Thai food in that (a) I eat it frequently and (b) I order the same thing every time. I may not be a Thai food connoisseur but I consider myself to be foremost Panang Curry expert. So maybe this is just a review of that one dish. The dish wasn't terrible, but what the hell is up with the lack of vegetables? I usually expect at least some peppers, maybe some baby corn or carrots. But the only vegetable you're going to put in Panang Curry is string beans? Seriously? It was basically just some tofu with sauce. Lame. On the positive, the curry had a nice spice to it and it wasn't too oily. I gave it two stars since it's hard for Panang Curry to taste bad. But in the grand scheme of things, there is absolutely no shortage of Thai restaurants in Park Slope and pretty much all of them do it better than what I just ate at Spice. My favorite in the neighborhood used to be Long Tan, until they went out of business, probably due to all the rent they were paying on that huge space. read more

What's with all the hate and the 2.5 stars? Honestly, the food is not that bad. I give this Spice location a solid three stars. It's not the type of food that knocks your socks off but at the same time, the food isn't horrible or inedible. I slightly agree with the statement that Spice has become the McDonald's of Thai, but it hasn't sunk that low, yet. If you want reliable, average Thai food, you can always go to Spice. Yes, the prices can be somewhat high for Thai, but you're in Park Slope, it is expected. Every dish I ordered, whether it was during lunch or dinner, has been decent. I will still order from Spice, despite the bad reviews and mediocre food. I do recommend going to the other sister restaurants, such as Peep in SOHO. You will get much more bang for your buck. read more

Was tired of the usual authentic Thai place so tried something new but I'll never be led astray again. Food was mediocre at best and delivery was 20 mins late. Siam buns with chicken were good, chicken wings were marinated well but soggy, walnut shrimp also soggy, crab rangoon were inedible as the crab and cream cheese weren't well blended or separated. Pad Thai was sweet tasting, drunken noodles were ok. With so many other Asian and Thai places around here, do yourself a favor and don't order from this chain anywhere in the city. read more

Couldn't figure out what to eat in Park Slope. Didn't want the usual. So I decided to give Spice on 7th a try. Place was empty when I got there. Must of beat the rush, as soon As I ordered people came pouring in. I started with the Siam Buns w/ pork. Pretty good- the pork has a sweet salty sauce with a quick pickle veggie medley (nicely balanced). Main course was the 3flavored Salmon (8oz I think) huge piece of salmon, served on top of an all green veg med and side of jasmine rice. The sauce is o k. The salmon was a bit over cooked so even though the sauce wasn't great I could've used more. Came here hungry so I didn't bother asking my waitress. Overall my dinner was tasty. Good service. Spice seems to have a lot of great things to try on the menu. So I will be back for those Drunken Man Noodles! Until Next Time... read more

Spice is my favorite Thai restaurant. It tastes just like the Spice on Union Square in the city which is great because I live in Brooklyn. I will definitely be a local here :) Here are some of my favorite items on the menu that I always order 1) drunk man noodle - must must must get, my #1 fav dish of all times in this restaurant (it is spicy btw) 2) fried calamari - it's always crispy and the mint thai chili sauce they serve it with is awesome 3) pork chop - extremely tender and flavorful, it's never dry like how pork chop usually tastes 4) martini shrimp - deep fried shrimp wrapped in egg roll papers dipped in thai chili sauce , loveeeeeeeee it! The price is always right here. Appetizers only cost about $5-$8 and their entrees range from $10-$20. The portions are huge too! read more

I have been to Spice several few times now and have had good experiences every time. On my first visit, my girlfriend and I were drawn in by the lunch special. You get an appetizer and entree for $8-$10 depending on the meat you choose in your entree. We started with the Seafood Tom Yum Soup and the Vegetable Dumplings. The soup was hot, spicy and had a decent amount of calamari. The vegetable dumplings were ok, but not really for me. My girlfriend really enjoyed them though and orders them every time we eat at Spice. For entrees we had the Pad Thai with Chicken and the Hawaiian Ginger and Pineapple with Chicken. Both came as generous portions and were very tasty. Tasty enough to keep us coming back. Since then we have ordered out and dined in for both lunch and dinner. Our orders have varied from our first meal to various dishes from their sauteed menu section. I have learned that all are good but lately I can't seem to get enough of the Mongolian Deluxe. With all the vegetables it provides different textures and flavors with each bite. If you are in the mood for a decent Thai dish at a decent price give Spice a shot. read more
