I love this cute little cafe. It's located on Young Street in the parking lot that shares Jagalchi and Gina's Beauty Salon. After reading some reviews on Yelp, I came here by myself which I hardly ever do, but decided to try it out randomly on my way home after remembering where it was located. When I walked inside, it felt very cozy. I believe a Korean couple runs this cute cafe. From what I've seen, the guy makes the drinks and the lady makes the food. You wouldn't be able to tell, but there's an upstairs loft. I only sat downstairs since it was right next to the menu. I took a long look at the menu and decided on the Iced Vanilla Mocha Latte and an Avocado Lover sandwich. The Avocado Lover has avocado, tomatoes, sprouts, American cheese and egg. You can choose your side of chips or a salad with a potato wedge (which was really interesting to me). I told the guy that I wanted chips, but also wanted a potato wedge. He told me I could only pick one. I stuck with the chips, but they were nice enough to also give me a potato wedge too! I thought that was so kind of them. I originally wanted the potato wedge because I thought it was fried, but it's actually steamed? Very moist. I liked it. The sandwich was delicious and perfectly packed! I was so full after eating half. I was able to bring home the other half and it was a perfect breakfast leftover for the day after. The sandwich itself was about $11.46 and the Iced Vanilla Mocha Latte was $6.21. The Vanilla Mocha Latte was perfectly sweet with hints of mocha. It wasn't too sweet either, but sweet enough for me to enjoy. The coffee taste wasn't too strong either. I'd say you could taste more mocha than anything else. I enjoyed my brunch all by myself. It was nice to have some quiet time in a cute cafe listening to relaxing cafe music. I've read so many reviews about the Avocado Steak so that's my order the next time I visit. I really want to try the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque as well. I also stopped by for just a drink another time and ordered an Iced Green Tea Latte $5.73; however, it was a little watered down so I wouldn't order it again. I think I'll just stick to the Vanilla Mocha Latte! If you love cute, cozy cafe vibes, definitely dine here! The owners are very sweet and the menu isn't that bad! Super cute cafe tucked in a little back parking lot. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the upstairs loft area. Great place to just enjoy a coffee with your favorite book or just to hang out with a friend and chat. The avocado lover was so delicious. It was unexpected that I got a potato wedge but it was surprisingly delicious. The family that runs this was so wonderful. I was able to be the first one in and enjoyed the space. The service was quick and bc I sat upstairs they ring a doorbell to call you down when your food is ready. I was across the street and looking for a place to get a drink, a bite to eat and to a little work. Ambiance- this is a really cute sandwich and coffee place. It is quiet and clean. Mellow muzak playing in the background. Two round tables with seating for 4 and a small counter with some stools. Food- the sandwiches seem a little eclectic but healthy. Several sandwiches had potato as an ingredient and I wasn't sure what that would be like. I got a grilled cheese with tomato bisque. Both were pretty tasty. The tomato bisque was really thick but had good flavor. Maybe a little sweet and creamy. But that beats the opposite. The sandwich was toasted vs grilled, but that is way healthier. The service was straightforward and polite. It seemed like they want to leave you alone and you can enjoy quiet time enjoying your food or drinks. Reminiscent of South Korea In 2013, I studied abroad at a quaint school 2 hours outside of Seoul. I would frequent Cafe's and Spero Spera brings back nostalgic memories or my study abroad experience. I ordered the steak sandwich with a matcha latte. Yelp BFF ordered a different sandwich with a banana latte. We snuck up to the second floor to enjoy our lunches. At first glance, it did not seem like enough food, but looks can be deceiving. It hit all the right notes and spots. This is the perfect date spot. It's hidden, nice ambiance, and has good food. On Young st tucked away in a little cubby is the cutest mom and pop Korean cafe that brings in all the little things that will remind you of Korea. They have a wide array of sandwiches, salads, drinks, and desserts. There is a nice small upstairs with a handful of tables for you to eat on. There are also cute little hand drawn illustrations through out the shop. We got a garlic steak sandwich and a bacon salami sandwich. The salami sandwich had a slice of potato in it which i thought was kind of cool. The bacon was perfectly crispy which added a nice crunch to the sandwich. The garlic steak was a nice big piece of steak with a strong garlic bits. You got to pick salad or chips with your order. The salad was a mix of greens, some shredded carrots and a balsamic vinegar dressing. Both come with 3 boiled potato slices which was pleasant to eat. Got an iced banana latte which was nice and refreshing. Made with real bananas and could definitely taste it. It was nice and thick, not smoothie or milk shake thick but a nice little thicker than a latte thick. I wasn't expecting to be full full after the sandwich, I was thinking I'd be like nicely satisfied, but no I was full after. With decent parking I finally arrived woohoo! I can tell you they are serious of their covid protocol. The obvious facemark requirement and dine in you need to leave your info but for takeout you need to wait outside. I had originally planned to dine in but the seriousness look of the owners kinda scared me and no wifi, no outlet service, no outside food and drinks (all totally understood) with the "one hour dining limit" rules gave an unwelcome vibe in this totally adorably decor cafe which was strange. So I decided to order just the sandwich "Potato Salami" to be exact and it comes with chips or organic salad + baked potato, which was a tiny bag of Lay's and two baked potato wedges...mmm okay!? The sandwich yes was incredibly yummy simple concept (potato, salami and mozzarella cheese) yes strange combo but did go well together. Felt like I had more bread than anything else and really wished there were more salami but oh well. I think I potato'd myself to the extreme but still enjoyed it and can't wait to try other items they offer. I can hope and dreams for a sandwich that keeps my belly happy, thank you! read more

If you're looking for a place to study, have a snack, or even cool off during the hot summer heat, Spero Spera is the place to go! This small business is owned by the sweetest couple ever. Very cozy vibes. Reasonable pricing and fast service. I love their steak sandwich! Plus their coffee is made with Honolulu Coffee Company. Two levels of seating are available as well--I have yet to check out the 2nd level. Kinda bummed that I only discovered this place after getting my degree because I definitely would've cooped up here. However, I did see that there is a 2-hour seating limit, and you may have to provide your own hotspot as free wifi is not offered. I love this cafe! Located on young street. They have their own parking lot they share with other small businesses. All their drinks are so delicious and made with care. Caramel Macchiato always makes me so happy! But the real gem is their sandwiches. My goodness. Their Garlic Streak sandwich is ALWAYS a winner. They have the option to have chips or salad in your sandwich box. And it comes with a couple of hot baked potato wedges! YUM. Yes, the garlic steak sandwich is my go to. Do it and be happy. The Aunty and uncle who work here are always so kind. Service is quick, polite, efficient. You can see that they really put a lot of love and care into their cafe. Small business at its finest. Spero Spera is such a nice cafe in the middle of Keeaumoku. It is conveniently located just minutes away from Ala Moana. It is a little tucked away on Young street and is a little unassuming from the outside but this is what makes it a hidden gem. The cafe is very spacious with 2 levels of seatings, perfect for hanging out or studying/working. They have an extensive menu of drinks and sandwiches available all day long, from espresso drinks to non caffeinated beverages. I had the iced matcha latte and the ice cappuccino to try and both very delicious and not too sweet. I also ordered the steak and avocado sandwich to try and im so surprised with the generous portions. The owner is incredibly rude. I have ignored his rudeness over the years because I like his cafe because it's a calm, serene place. Today, I bought a coffee and worked on my iPad upstairs. I guess I stayed a little over the 2 hour mark (there are signs that say 2 hour stay for paid customers only). He curtly came up to me and pointed at the sign. I apologized and said that I can buy another coffee and a sandwich but he just cut me off and said to leave. Like, WTF? I want to support places like this but he's just been incredibly rude and basically told me to fuck off and leave. I was aghast. I have been going to this place for years. I haven't been to this place since high school (which was over 7 years ago). When I was looking up study cafes I was ecstatic to see that they were still open and survived COVID! A lovely couple runs the business. My favorite part is the spacious upstairs studying area, the only downside is that they don't have wifi so you'll have to use a hotspot from your own phone. Came here bc my wifi cut out on a rainy day & I needed to get work done. This place came up under the search results for "free wifi" so it was unfortunate to find out there's NO WIFI HERE. I didn't realize until after I bought a drink and went upstairs to see the sign on the wall :( Went around 1pm and the cashier told me kitchen was closed/no sandwiches. Thought that was weird bc I could smell bread was toasting when I walked in lol. While waiting for my drink, the uncle brought out a sandwich to a customer. This is such a cute lil place! The outside doesn't look appealing but the inside is super cozy. I got the Mixed Avocado and my friend got the Avocado Steak. Each sandwich came with a choice of salad or chips and 2 potato wedge. The Mixed Avocado was so good! Very light and it had just the right amount of flavor. Thin slice of ham & bacon, egg, cheese and lots of veggies also their house sauce was tasty! Nothing overpowering or lacking. I wish the potato was fried or had some kind of seasoning - tasted like it was just boiled. The staff was very friendly. They have their own bathroom as well as an upstairs area. Felt like a Korean Starbucks but more homey lol. They also have a good size coffee/beverage section. Good amount of parking. IN SEARCH OF THE BEST CAFE IN OAHU: This is one of the best cafe's I've been to in Oahu so far next to Island Brew Cafe in Hawaii Kai and Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe. Personally these are the factors that I'm looking for: parking, AC, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi/plugs. I really liked this place because of their private parking. You don't have to search for street parking like trying to go to Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe. They also had a restroom inside the structure which was really clean and easy to access. There are many tables and seats and it feels really cozy in there with their jazz music playing in the background. The workers or owners were super nice. And there is AC! I would've given this place a 5-star if they had Wi-Fi and plug ins (if you just use your own hotspot and bring a portable charger then you're all set). This review has been a long time coming. I happened upon Spero Spera while looking for a coffee shop in the area and I could not have been more impressed. In fact, I've gone back several times. In my humble opinion, this is the best cafe on the island. To start, the ambiance is immediately welcoming as you walk through the door. It is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The chairs are very comfortable and there is a good amount of space while still feeling cozy. There are two separate seating areas; one as you walk in and one upstairs. The menu is prominently displayed, so it's easy to order. The menu includes a good variety of drink options and an assortment of sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The ingredients are always very fresh and each item is plated beautifully. I have tried several things on the menu and can honestly say that I would recommend everything. I really don't think you can go wrong. Both the drinks and the food are delicious, filling and obviously made with care and love. I wish I had more pictures, but I am always so excited to eat that I usually forget. On a more personal note, I want to say that the owners are absolutely wonderful people. They are unbelievably kind and generous and gracious. I will absolutely be returning as often as I can. read more

This is a great little hidden treasure. From the outside, you can't tell. Three of my Work teammates and I came here to grab some lunch, coffee and get some work done. There is a 2nd floor with quaint tables and chairs and a bench with cushions where we were able to enjoy a lovely lunch and dig into work. For lunch, I had the garlic veggie sandwich with no cheese (so it can be vegan) and added avocado for additional $2. The sandwich comes with choice of chips or green salad. The portions are big and prices are very reasonable. Did I mention coffee!? This is by far, my favorite sandwich shop in town. I always get their garlic steak sandwich with avocado. The sandwich comes with these simple baby potatoes and a green salad. For me, it's kind of a comfort food kinda thing whenever I go here. It's awesome! Everything is tasty and handmade right in front of you. I love this place mostly because it's somewhere I can go for a really good meal and not have to deal with crowds. It's a quaint coffee/sandwich shop run by the nicest couple ever.
