My favorite coffee shop in Surprise! I cannot wait to go back! I loved all of their Valentine's specials. They have some merch for you to browse and purchase. They also have a lot of pre-packaged treats. This place is definitely meant for folks who love their drinks on the sweeter side. I had friends who did not enjoy their drinks because they were too sweet but it was perfect for me. Staff was extremely friendly and it was very heart-warming to see how they knew their regulars and their orders so well. The love potion (strawberry white mocha) was my favorite. You can feel that purpose woven into everything they do. We tried one of their themed drink flights (the Sweet Heart menu was adorable -- Love Potion, Love Struck, To The Moon & Back... so cute). The presentation in the little mason jars was fun and picture-worthy. Flavor-wise, they leaned sweeter than my personal preference, but still enjoyable and perfect if you love flavored lattes. They offer plenty of milk options, including non-dairy, which I appreciate. Bakery - vegan and gluten-free options clearly labeled. I grabbed the lemon scone (vegan + GF). It was good! I'm personally more of a vegan-but-not-gluten-free girl, so texture-wise it's not something I'd specifically crave again -- but I absolutely appreciate that they create inclusive options. My friend had the cinnamon roll and was happy. They also have a small retail section with mugs, shirts, local honey, and little gift items, which adds to the community feel. This time I brought guests. Six in total end our walk at Spencer's Place and enjoyed a drink of choice in a cozy conference room to fellowship. It was bust so I'm glad I had reserved the room. To start, the concept and mission is the best thing about Spenser's and I wish we made it in sooner but I am grateful we stopped in today. Everyone working was so kind and just sweet, I loved the compliments from the cashier (she was a delight and her smile was very contagious). My wife and son love this place. This is one my my wife's favorite coffee shops in the west valley. I am not much of a coffee fan, but I really enjoyed how bright and smiling all the employees were and the interior of the building is very welcoming and smells wonderful. My mother-in-law really likes this place, so we came here on her suggestion! This is sort of a big deal because she rarely likes to buy coffee out. She likes brewing it at home. :) On the way there, I Yelped it and was thrilled to read that it had a five star average rating. It was a Tuesday morning around 10AM. We were immediately greeted pleasantly by a young woman cleaning the tables outside. Once inside, we saw that it was pretty busy. There was a mixed bag of all ages, individual and in small groups. The decor is warm and inviting. I saw from the photos on Yelp that there were coffee flights. I'm glad I saw that because I didn't see it anywhere on the menu. I asked the person at the register about it (who, by the way, was super friendly, helpful, and overall very pleasant) and she said they absolutely do have flights and pulled out a tray that had pre-made flavors (see my photos!) I ordered one as iced. The flight was super cute and so fun to try. I'm not a flavored coffee type of gal, so this was a nice way to try flavors I might not have ordered as a full size. My daughter and I shared the flight and each did a rating in order of which we expected to like in what order and also in order in which we actually liked them. Silly, I know, but again, this was so fun. My mother-in-law ordered a chai latte which she really likes. She does not like it really hot, so we asked if we could order it warm and they said absolutely. We also ordered a couple of pastries which were fine. I ordered a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese. There was a lot of cream cheese in it, but that's not a big deal because I just scooped some aside. Everything was good and the service was outstanding. I read while in the shop and also saw on their website that they employ adult persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I have been here on several occasions. I always have a great time here and my coffee is always enjoyable. I don't often indulge in lattes and other sweet modified drinks, but have chosen to take suggestions and allow myself to indulge a bit more here and I've never regretted it. My coffee taste great which is most important as it's the center of the trip, the service is always on point and I love the Spencer's Place mission and values they strive to uphold and achieve in our community. We have now been several times and it is certainly a place we make a point to stop in to if we are in the neighborhood. Their flights of coffee are super cool and fun- deff get one! They recently celebrated their 4th anniversary and opened a second location nearby as well. The front doors were wide open on a beautiful Arizona spring day, and Racquel and Heidi greeted me with big, friendly smiles. I was eyeing the pastries on the counter when Racquel started talking to me about the pop tarts. I decided to have one, and she recommended I have her warm it up. It was like eating a warm peach cobbler... comfort food. Heidi walked me through different drinks and helped me decide on one of their specials this month. The sign board of specials changes theme with each month, and being that it was April, the theme was all blue drinks in honor of Autism Awareness month. I enjoyed my berry breeze botanical with lotus natural energy and added coconut milk. It was bright and refreshing...thank you Heidi. As I was taking photos and video of the shop, Racquel continually smiled and waved. She came over to check on how I liked my order, and we got to chatting. She even walked me over to show me her portrait on the wall of staff caricature photos. Her energy was so positive and electric, and it really was much needed light in my day. The majority of the customers left with the baristas waving goodbye and saying their name. So the shop obviously has loyal customers. What a fun find! The mission behind this place is definitely near and dear to my wife's heart, she's a nurse. The fun vibes and eclectic seating options made the feel of the place so special. We also can't say anything bad about the food and beverages - they were delicious (try the sourdough blueberry coffee cake!). Also service with a smile from staff who love what they are doing!! Wow. I wish I had a Spencer's Place near me! This is definitely the type of coffee shop I can see myself coming to multiple times a week for a pick me up. From the service to the lattes themselves, everything was really great. I also love their mission to provide training and skill development to those with intellectual and development disabilities. My husband and I visited here once for coffee and pastry. My latte was good but the packaged peach danish was bready and had thick dough. We visited on a Thursday, a children's story day. The store had lots of little toddlers and the atmosphere was festive. The shop offers a huge list of lattes and flavored drinks. The house coffee was medium or dark roast, which was good. They offer egg sandwiches but they are premade and then heated up. I wouldn't go here for the food. Spencer's Place was very busy with mothers and kids, at least on the day we visited. read more
