For the past three years, I have made a trip to Spencer Smith Park to run the Canada Day 5K race. The second year, we decided to stick around the evening fireworks display and had such a good time, we added that to our yearly routine as well. As I have ramped up my distance running, I spent a lot more time in the park this year, and despite the weather, could not have had a better time. The path runs close enough to the lake to let the sea breeze cool you off as you run by, which this summer was definitely necessary. The pier is also a great added touch, you can walk out a few feet off the shore and get more of that fabulous sea breeze. Enough benches that even on a busy day, there's enough room for everybody. I'm so glad that this place has become part of my yearly Canada Day tradition, and it is the most looked forward to part of the year. If you're in Burlington and looking for a place to relax for a bit, Spencer Smith Park could not come without a higher recommendation from me.

What a great family park... it's a gorgeous lake side park with s lot of things to see and do in mid Spring. I came here specifically to see the Cherry blossom and they the canopy of them created a gorgeous little archway. So many people were taking pictures and I can see why. Those trees are closer to the North Shore drive just west of the pier. In addition to the trees, there was a large huge playground for kids, a nice pier into Lake Ontario, a skating area in the winter, and a long bike and people friendly path that snakes around the lake. The only thing a bit painful is the parking ... it's Burlington P parking but shares with Spencer restaurant. On a Sunday ... it's a complete insane zoo. Soooo many people were fighting for a space in these two tiny lots. You'd have a better chance finding street parking above north drive and walking over.

What a nice place with clean modern pathways, huge park, and places nearby for getting a quick bite, or coffee and ice cream. This a perfect place to walk the dog or go with family or friends on the weekend. The only downside is that I could not find any restrooms by the lake path.

I had no idea this place was so beautiful! New favourite spot! Park for the kids with wading pool and splash pad. Gorgeous pier for a nice stroll along the lake. Lots to see, do and eat!

If you're from the Burlington area there's no doubt you've heard of this park. Right at the waterfront, there's a boardwalk along Lake Ontario for bikers, rollerbladers, runners and dog walkers. This park doesn't have the greatest amenities i.e. public washrooms or working water fountains note: there's one for humans and a much shorter one for dogs and not small children (I was told), but it's the home to many great events: Ribfest, Sound of Music Festival, and the Chrstmas lights display along Lake Ontario. There's also the Brant St Pier that extends 100+ meters over Lake Ontario (one of the romantic sites my fiancé took me to on our engagement scavenger hunt) and there's a small path with cherry blossoms (a Japanese tree specie which is donated) that bloom in May. Every year hundres of people go to High Park in Toronto for them, this is a much closer stop for the people who live to the west. Whether you're going for a picnic or a walk, this place is great to spend a few hours.

The playground and splash pad are conveniently located side by side and would be great for kids to spend time there and enjoy summer.

He was also my production assistant for this leg of Chicken Wars, as we did 3 tissi reviews in this park... that sentence would have been complete gibberish to me 3 months ago lol. As tradition holds with my reviews of parks, I'm gonna let off some steam. I'm tired. Ever since me reviewing rotisserie chickens in outdoor spaces went semi-viral, I've been giving this everything I got. My entire soul. I've sat at my corporate 9-5 job for years dreaming about something like this to happen, so when it finally did, I was ready. I pounced. I said to myself "yeah you're exhausted, but this is the time. It's quite literally now or never." I've given it everything, so at least at the end of the day I can look myself in the mirror and say I tried. I tried my best. Working a 9-5 job in tech sales while doing the writing, editing, eating, filming, traveling, etc. for this has taken every ounce of my being. It's starting to get to me. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining at all, I'm actually extremely grateful, but I just want to stay raw and honest. The reality is there are highs and lows with everything, and I'm just trying to learn how to navigate them. Seeing that Sports Science guy end it all the other day made me so sad. Like damn that guy brought so much joy to my childhood. Even he was going through it!?!? He looked so happy all the time. I just think it's important to get this stuff out of my head and onto metaphorical paper. Maybe this one should have just stayed in my journal, but whatever. I think it will be cool to come back in 10 years and read this and either laugh at myself for being a dork, or be like "damn I was spitting." That's why I love writing so much. Considering the size of the park, the ratio to park your vehicle is ver low. So we used to visit the park in a little off hours. It has an endless dimension for a toddler to run freely, its always breezy around the park due to the lake. The splash pad is huge , clean and the best. It has a combination of low pressure and high pressure water outputs so the kids of every age group a d enjoy it. There are a few picnic tables, you have to be lucky to grab one. One unique thing about the park is that the young kids play area is separated by toddlers play area which keeps ten toddlers safe and it is big peace of mind for a parent like me. The park is cleaned regularly and the grass is always trimmed. So go for it!

This is a nice park with lots of hiking trails and lush woods, offering plenty of shades on a sunny day. The only trail that allows you to go down to the creek is #6 Half Moon Valley Trail. I would also recommend #4 Lookout Ravine Trail which is almost completely covered by trees and would be beautiful in the fall. You shouldn't miss the famous White Oak Tree, likely germinated since 1685 and at least 300 years old, close to parking lot A. The Spruce Lane Farmhouse is another highlight near parking lot F, which is a Victorian-style house showing visitors what life was like back then. The antique furniture, well-decorated rooms, farm equipment, and friendly volunteers wearing Victorian costumes gave us an immersive experience at the farm. The only problem is that the amenities are a bit dated, especially with the signage. The park staffs should hand out free maps as you enter the park, and there should be more directions as to where you are. I often had to rely on Google to check location and the pre-downloaded map from their website. The swimming pool remains under renovation as of summer 2024, so the park is not yet at its full potential.

The trails are clean, managed and you can see the arborist do a good job maintaining the overall trail. It's a really nice scenic escape from city life; I can see ski and bike trails. There is even a mini farm. There are some really nice vantage points where you can see the water and treeline, so it might be nice to return in the fall. Definitely returning here :)

There is a dedicated parking lot at Skyvalley Crescent but it can get busy as it's one of the only ones. The issue with parking is that the neighboring suburbs do not allow for street parking, so it makes parking a little difficult. There are a lot of well maintained and wide trails that people were using for a stroll, bikes (we did see some aggressive bikers so listen for bells), and jogging. Dogs are allowed here as well, as long as they are leashed. There are "non-official" trails that can take you down to the creek - these ones are narrower and not of the brush has been cleared away. To get really close to the water you kind of have to walk through these. There is a payoff during late September and early October as you can see the salmon run! They are a little hard to spot but just wait by areas where there is some rocky elevation in the creek. Those are the choke points where they're normally charging up to make a leap!
