Jumped on bikes in Idaho falls early on a Tuesday morning to have breakfast and meet the new owners. So glad we did, as we were greeted by smiles and complete friendliness. As the food was cooking (I ordered the "Rancher") my taste buds and nose were going into overdrive from the kitchen aroma. Never have I had such good sausage as I did here (had to ask what kind it was since I'll be looking to buy my own). Oh my goodness! Where to begin? I had the BLT with extra mayo and a side of onion rings. The bacon was THICK and extra crispy. The onion rings were absolutely delicious and freshly fried. Service was perfection with a smile. Small talk appreciated. He brought out options for beer and enjoyed my selection. Clean and adorable serring with a nicely kept up restroom. This is a teeny tiny town with 1 old fashioned gas pump. I guess this grill will be closing and selling soon. I believe it it the only restaurant in Spencer. It is family owned and operated. The top floor is the restaurant and downstairs is their home. I laughed when I saw that people would ride their Polaris to come eat. The owners were pretty friendly. My daughter and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with tater tots and I ordered a small breakfast with french toast, bacon and egg. Was just the right size. Driving to Boise we stumbled across this gem. At the fork in the road at the exit we had to go right or left. Short debate ensued, right it was, and there was Spencer's. We considered grabbing our food to go but the selections dictated we grab a seat. Everything was amazing! The food. The service. Everything. I opted for the shrimp and veggies and my husband couldn't decide on between the BLT and the Beef Steak So he got both. The food defeated him. But he gave it a good try. So this review is purely based on the fact that my husband and I were passing through and stopped to ask for some help due to car trouble. I feel embarrassed to say that I did not catch the name of the gentleman who was kind enough to try to help us in anyway he could. He contacted a friend to try to get us a mechanic to help ok on a Sunday, he checked to see if he had any oil he could give us personally. In the middle of running a busy restaurant he found time for kindness. I believe he was the owner or the manager. I will be forever grateful that people like him exist. If we ever find ourselves passing through Spencer again we will most definitely enjoy a meal here. I saw the food coming out of the kitchen and it looked delicious! Arrived at 12:15 and we received great service and great food. It's a small restaurant off I-15, so I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong. I am currently staying at the RV park behind the restaurant. A few of us are working on the road project in Dubois. Currently the grill is open for takeout and should soon be fully open again.
