I love breweries that are hard to find. If you need to follow a sign in order to find where you make your beer, I'll follow. Spellbound is located right off of High Street in Mt. Holly. Their brewery is tucked away in an industrial park. You have to open a gate, and walk through an outside but kind of inside path, that leads you to a door. You open the door and now its a tasting room. Sounds fun right? Spellbound love their brand. Look around in the tasting room, you'll see that moon and star logo on everything from iron bars to coaster, to their merchindise. Great local spot. They love supporting the town of Mt. Holly. I Iove this place. Today was my first time visiting the brewery even though I have had their beer in local restaurants. I tried three of their porters, a Belgian triple, and an oatmeal Ale. Each and every one was excellent. You can get a flight of (4) 4.5 oz beer samples for $8. The place itself is newly decorated with a plain wood bar, about 8 tables and perimeter walls that have counter tops attached for standing customers. They have a great selection on tap of roughly 6-8 beers. They have growlers for take out and some of their selections canned. The bar tenders were friendly, attentive, and very helpful, I barely had to wait each time I wanted a beer. I know this is now my local beer drinking hang out. read more

Their beer selection is out of this world and probably the best variety I have ever seen for a local craft brewery. The sad part to me about my visit to Spellbound was that if you were not a regular you received sub par service. I was standing patiently at the counter with growlers out ready to be filled and after several hellos and small chats with regulars I was finally offered help. I would not have minded the wait and the hellos and small chat with regulars but how about an initial greeting or acknowledgement of a hello I'll be right wit you. No eye contact or anything was made. Just passing me by. You've already won your regulars over Spellbound. How about try to be hospitable to the new faces you see and make those ones that will drive 40 miles bc you announced you had blueberry beer on social media and make those ones your regulars too. read more

I can't rate the customer service as there was none. We sat at a table for over 20 minutes and no one came over to ask us if we wanted a drink. This is a review of the beer and the Century!!! Ugh what an amazing experience- I will be talking about the Spellbound Century for weeks! The roads and route were wonderful, very smooth, wide shoulders, minimal traffic. Some rolling hills, two or three steep hills and a few lovely descents. Riders were sent out in waves and there was not only a pace car, but a local motorcycle club that assisted along the way. Cheers to you Rough Riders, you guys are very cool!! Spellbound has large grounds, so there was space for everyone - i've been to one of these at another brewery and they didn't have the space for people to park their bikes in one area so people are forced to lean their bikes against trees, hydrants, portapotties whatever. Not here---there was room for everything. Upon one's return from their ride, one would receive a swag bag, a tShirt and of course beer. The Spellbound Peach IPA is my favorite. If it's available, it's getting ordered, if you haven't tried it, get some, it will change your life. I'm obsessed with cycling and the cycling community is amazing. Most people are so friendly, everyone talks to everyone and most have met for the first time. People look out for ones other, if someone breaks down, another cyclist will be by their side tying to help or alt the very least stay until help arrives. People are happy. Maybe it is the adrenaline and the endorphins from the bike ride, maybe it is the fresh air and sunshine, perhaps it's the beer. Whatever it is, the vibes are good, really good. Off the beaten path for most people, down a walled-in walkway, enter a room sparingly dotted with high tables and peopled with laid-back locals. Behold the chalk written tap list, take a slip of paper, and in its four boxes fill in the ones that pique your interest. Your flight will cost $8, delivered in a wooden paddle, enabling you to carry it away from the bar if you want. Don't sit near the register, since that's where later coming patrons queue up for libations. If the owner is around, chat him up if he doesn't strike up conversation first. He's friendly and interested in you, or at least your beer experiences. The peach beers are a treat, the IPA a dependable constant, and the recent Belgian cherry tripel successfully avoided calamity and instead stands out as a worthy reason to visit. read more

Stopped to check it out about 1pm on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Located in an industial complex it was a little hard to find. Lots of parking then you have to walk through an iron gated fence and find #12 building and door. A very small place, no food but you can bring it or order it. They have about 15 bar stools and ten or so tables to sit and outdoor picnic tables. They offered us free tastes and we loved their beers much better than double nickel (see my review on Yelp). Loved all their dark beers with bourbon. Bring your growler to have it filled and take some home. They also sell six packs to take home. Tours are offered but we did not go on it as they were cleaning, A great new find and we will return. My favorite was the "VICES" a coffee porter was delicious. read more

Coming from someone who has visited almost every micro brewery in NJ, Spellbound is leaps and bounds one of the best/newest breweries to open in the last year. Take a 6 pack of their flagship IPA to go or get a growler fill of any of their other refreshing brews. You can sample any 4 beers for $6, which is a good way to get started. On my recent visit, I sampled the Palo Santo porter, Session Porter, Gingerbread brown, and Peach IPA. I enjoyed the Palo Santo so much and ended up getting a growler to go! The brewery space is large, the guys and gals behind the bar are friendly, and the beer is damn tasty. Whether you are in this neck of the woods or plan on taking a brewery tour in the Burlington county area, I highly recommend making a stop here. Aside from the creepy walk up their fenced in path at an industrial complex - Spellbound was actually quite charming. $7 for a 4-beer flight was a good way to sample their brews. Their Coffee Porter was solid, but I wasn't blown away by anything else (except their gorgeous can-style souvenir glasses) and found their Palo Santo Porter to be just 'ok'. Seemed more like a pale ale place to me, which isn't really my bag (but I can be sold on excellent blondes and witbiers, so I will always try!) Their tasting room was nice, but it seemed they had room towards the rear that could've benefited from benches and lower tables instead of relying on standing room only high-hats and bar. (There is seating outside - but good lord was it hot the day we were there.) Would've loved to take a real tour of the place instead of reading their handout. Unlike some other local breweries their setup was large enough, and tempting to view through the glass window in the tasting room. read more

I have visited here a few times and I am happy with the beers. The peach and mango IPAs are creative and they work. I have tried the san paulo porter out of the cask and it has a very unique flavour. My most recent growler filler was of a Pale Ale with Citra hops and it worked well. The staff is very nice, and usually attentive. They aren't always great about keeping their beer list updated via social media, but that is a small price to pay to have good beer in my backyard. read more

Great beer! Truly a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I had been to village idiot nearby (also a great brewery) so when we saw another brewery in the area we had to try it. From the parking lot it seems odd since its in kind of an industrial park area but the way to the brewery is well marked so you won't end up in the wrong place. The beer is awesome. I'm a dark beer fan and they had more porters and stouts than most breweries so I was very excited. The chocolate milk stout tastes like chocolate syrup! I think it would be even better served on nitro, it would really enhance the creamy texture. The oatmeal raisin cookie is awesome too, it tastes just like it sounds! The peach IPA was good. It smells more peachy than it tastes but the peach cuts the bitterness you usually get with IPAs. A definite must have is the porter. I'd especially recommend trying this before trying any variations (coffee, palo santo, chocolate peanut butter) of the porter. It's delicious and has a hint of coffee taste. We also had been looking into their brewing room through the window behind the bar when we asked the bar tender if we were allowed to go in she not only said that it was fine, but she also went and grabbed one of the Brewers to take us on a tour! Love the beer but not the greatest atmosphere. I will start with the beer, Spellbound has a stable of great IPAs and Pale Ales while always trying something new. On this visit I stopped by for the frickin Peach IPA and it was great. The peach was even more powerful then their regular while still maintaining the hops. Also had the Living the Dream which was a hit. The brewery is small with limited seating when you can't sit outside. If you aren't sitting at the bar there is one line for beer which can get long at times and the bartenders are all about the regulars. It is not a brewery I go to hangout but it is a must for great beer. read more

If I could give more stars, I would. Stellar beer selection, around 20 if I'm correct, and not one will disappoint; something for everybody. Bartender Matthew is knowledgeable and loves his craft. Had Spellbound for the first time at the AC BeerFest and I really enjoyed the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie and Peach IPA. Since then I had some others at a tap takeover at Chickie's and Petes that were really good. I was excited to visit the brewery this past Sunday. The place is nice and the people are friendly. They have a nice game selection if you want to play some games. But the beer is where it's at. I had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Porter, White Oak IPA,, Vanilla Porter, and the Belgium Cherry Tripel. As we do when we travel, we make it a point to visit local craft breweries. My guy has a local friend and they went to size it up before I arrived. It was good and worth a repeat trip. The two of us went the next night and I too enjoyed my couple of beers. The next day we tried two more area finds and were not impressed. We stopped today on our way back from Philly and enjoyed a couple pints and bought some to go. Enjoyed them with leftover pizza in our hotel room watching football. Although one of my favorite weekend things to do is visit brewery's, I've never been here and it is right in my stomping ground. Entering the eclectic cool metal gate leading me down the path to the brewery door only added to the "coolness" of this place. Quick glance at the beer list additionally added the my excitement. Lots and lots of dark beers. I'm over the overdosed IPA thing. Can't get better then a good brewed dark beer. Had their Vices coffee porter. It was pretty damn good. Sampled the imperial stout and equally good. Great gathering of folks, nice bar, plenty of seating indoors and out. This gets a 5 from me. read more

Fun place to spend an afternoon and learn about how beer is made. We got a tour from one of the owners and he was super friendly, informative, and willing to answer any questions we had. The main room looks like a nice daytime pub and it was fun to try a couple of flights to really get a feel for Spellbound's beers (my favorite was the bourbon barrel aged cherry). The bartenders were super friendly and the place has cute, rustic (slightly kitschy) decor. They have most of the beers available for sale in cans and growlers so you can take your favorites home, they also sell stuff like t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, and patches with their logo. We were lucky enough to happen to be there after the Mt Holly St. Patty's Day Parade so we got a special treat of the Ancient Order of Hibernians playing bagpipes. This place is definitely worth dropping into, you'll have a new favorite hangout. read more

They are gracious hosts and my birthday went off without a hitch. And the beer...approximately 12-14 beers always on tap...all are delicious and many of my birthday guests took home growlers to enjoy their beer at home. Free tours are available, or you can gaze at the shiny stainless equipment through a pair of windows mounted right behind the bar. Food can be brought in from any of the variety of local restaurants in the area, or you can take the beer home with you in growlers. The standard IPA and porter are always available, but dig a little deeper. There are variants to be explored. Peach and mango infusions, Palo Santo wood aging, and more. Mount Holly is truly blessed to have 2 (with the also excellent Village Idiot Brewing located nearby) new craft beer startups. Worth your time to make the trip. read more

Went to Spellbound with some friends on Oct 6th at 7:15. My frine had the Peach IPA and I had the Belgian Tripel Cherry and both beers were great. The bartender, not so much. I was excited to order a flight and was happy to see him put down a flight on the bar next to us. When I asked for a flight he said "No more flights." No other explanation. He was gruff, rude and acted like he couldn't wait to go home for the evening. I'm sure he was not one of the owners but they should know that their bartender treats their customers this way. I wouldn't want him representing my business. He had short blond hair and a pug nose and is in very strong need of training. read more

I really want to give these guys a 5-star rating because they are such a great group of entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, they are not quite "Woohoo! As good as it gets." They are most certainly the best thing going in our area when it comes to nano-breweries. And, "Yay! I am most certainly a fan." We have visited Spellbound at least a dozen times since they opened. They always have a nice selection of at least 8 or 10 beers on tap. Their beers are always well-crafted and true to whatever style they are producing. The only thing that bothers me about them is their consistency. They have about 5 standards and every time we visit, there are subtle variations. Nothing bad, just not consistent from batch to batch. If they can work out the kinks, I will probably up my rating to 5-stars. read more

I went to get a growler of beer for a party I'm attending this evening. Spellbound is running a 3 year anniversary event. As I entered with my growler in hand, the attendant said, "Oh no you don't, NO GROWLERS today. Take that growler right back to your car." There is nothing in their signage, nor their website, nor in the email notice I received that growlers are not allowed today. I took my growler - and my business - back to my car. How dare they address a customer that way. read more

Well. The place is really nice. It's busy which is a good thing. There is nice selection of beer, but heavy on ipa. As an anti IPA drinker, it's not ideal. However...the bartender is more interested in putting on the greatest 80s hits dance show then paying attention to patrons. You will get served eventually, just be patient...the cherry Belgian triple is good as is the imperial Stout, living the dream. The oatmeal raisin cookie is good but heavy, not a summer beer at all. This is one of my favorite breweries in the area. Friendly people and really good beers. They have a great system during the lockdown to order and pay for beer online, then just call them from the parking lot and they'll come out and put it in your car. I have been loading up on their core brews that are available in 6-packs, but they have lots of others that you can get in growlers too. My favorites are the porter and the pale ale. read more

This place is a hidden gem. This was my first time here, and it exceeded my expectations. For starters, they have multiple different beer to choose from and you can sample any beer. If you are unsure what type of beer to get, you can order a flight which comes with a choice of 4 different beers. While I was here I ordered the Peach IPA and the Cherry Belgian Tripel and both were amazing! If you like craft beer, I would defiantly check this place out! This is by far my favorite brewery in the area. The peach IPA can't be beat! I have not had a beer there that I don't like. And, I always try to support local establishments and always recommend this place to my friends who are all big beer drinkers. Glad to see that they added more chairs, but my biggest complaint is that unless you are friends with the owners or staff, the service is disappointing. I love beer. No, seriously - if beer were a person, I'd marry it. So on my neverending quest to find "the one", I've gone to a ton of breweries to quaff IPA's, weizens, pales, and porters of all types. Spellbound is my latest 'adventure' in the world of beer, and oh, what an adventure it is! First things first, this place is tied with Kane as being my #1 favorite brewery in NJ. Seriously, it's *THAT* good. The menu of beers available at Spellbound is both diverse enough in styles and flavors that even the pickiest of beer drinkers will probably find something to swoon over. I've been here twice now, and let me tell ya', the things these guys can do with fruit in beer is just shocking. The peach IPA is among some of the most flavorful IPA's I've had, the mango pale ale was downright *buttery* in texture, as well as being absurdly delicious (as was the Citra pale!), the coffee porter just oozed an immense coffee flavor but without being too bitter, and the blueberry beers showcased how tart NJ blueberries can be, without that sickeningly sweet fake blueberry flavor that plagues so many others. Oh, and the palo santo porter? Yeah, that's a thing of beauty in and of itself - just try it. I don't think I've ever had a single beer from here that was anything short of wonderful. As is typical with NJ breweries, there's no food served here (screw you, NJ ABC!), but you can bring in some stuff from outside if you'd like, which is a plus. The interior is kept nice and cool, even on the hottest of days, another *huge* plus, since most other NJ breweries tend to be on the warm side, or downright sweltering. There's plenty of standing table and bar space, so bringing friends is never a problem, and there's always room for one more. All said and done, an amazing brewery run by some pretty awesome and talented people. If you like beer even a little, you owe it to yourself to visit Spellbound. read more

Great Brewery , first time here and they had an amazing selection. I had the gingerbread porter which tasted like I was eating a heavy gingerbread cookie , so solid choice. For my next drink I ordered the oatmeal raisin cookie drink which I ended up getting a growler of , so... ya haha. Overall great experience here only wish they had more seats as a few of the high top tables did not have chairs. read more

We visited Spellbound on a late Saturday afternoon. If it wasn't for the people we were with having been there before, we would have NEVER found this place. It's located in what I would describe as an old corporate center from the 50's. All building were built with cinder blocks exposed and painted over. (You'll notice this while following the labyrinth to the door). When entering, the first thing that I noticed was how their cinder blocks have an orangey beige color to them....it MUST be special !! There were a few hightops and a few picnic table around and a wooden bar from which to order. If I had to guess, there were probably ten different beers to choose from and most sounded like they would be good. I ordered the Belgium triple, while the rest of the group ordered a 4 serving flight. Everyone to a a tee disliked most of the choices that they had made, while rued mine. While most Belgium triples have a bit of a flowery aftertaste, this one had a swampy smelly aftertaste, as did most of the ones that i tasted from my wife's flight selections. It seems as I'm the exception to the rule as most seem to enjoy the atmosphere and beer, for which I am glad. I wish the place well and hope all those that enjoy it, continue to enjoy it, but I'm simply not one of them read more
