Very nice waiting area and 'free' Christian Brothers branded water bottles. Most people understand 'free' things are not actually free . . . that includes the water bottles and 'free' courtesy shuttles. I took my 2010 Mustang there to have the rear brakes repaired - due to a frozen caliper. The 'Diagnostic Test' was $165, which I paid and then took my car out of there as fast as I could. The cost quoted for repair was ludicrous, so I asked if I could supply the parts (I am a former Auto Parts Manager, so am comfortable with this) - they said sure - the quote for just the labor . . . $631.91. Note - the book time for this is 1-1.5 hours. I declined and took it to another shop . . . $280 for labor and that is where the work was done. As mentioned in some other reviews, the 'free' (there's that word again) 'courtesy inspection' came up with every conceivable 'flush/fill' and things like Spark Plug replacement ("due to age of vehicle") even though I replaced them myself a month ago. Total for all the 'courtesy inspection' items . . . ready . . . ready . . . $8,255.59. How about a few more examples: Replace License Plate Light Bulb ($74.50) - I actually just took care of this myself before sitting to write this review ($15 for the pair and about 10 minutes taking my time), Replace Front Struts (parts cost $250 and labor book time 1.2 to 1.6 hours for both sides) . . . $1,456.38. Replace Cabin Air Filter (part cost $15 - labor book time 0.2 to 0.3 hours or 10-15 minutes) . . . $132. Replace valve cover gaskets (part cost $20, labor time 1.5 to 2.5 hours) . . . $632.20. You get the idea. Outrageous pricing . . . but the 'free' bottle of ice-cold water was excellent!

I have used this shop for nearly 20 years with 5 star experiences, but my last repair did not go…read morewell -- 2 stars at best. A problem undiagnosed for months had the potential to damage my car's engine. This was disappointing after so many years of superior service. I still recommend Blvd Auto Repair for routine maintenance, state inspections, or repairs which can be computer diagnosed, but I'm unsure about the team's manual diagnostic skills. Over a year after spending around $1,000 for an AC compressor replacement, I've made about 10 visits to the shop and am out about $700 in additional parts/labor (two blend door motor replacements, climate control unit replacement, relay replacement), none of which solved intermittent problems with the AC randomly turning off and blowing hot air or the heater either blowing air so hot it burned my ankles or the system not working at all. No offer of even a partial refund for labor or parts was made. My report of a sizeable puddle of fluid under the car after the AC compressor replacement was brushed off as condensation. A SINGLE trip to another mechanic resulted in a successful repair. (To be fair, the overheating engine was a helpful clue). Still, for over 8 months Boulevard Auto Repair failed to notice a significant leak in my engine cooling system caused by a coolant supply pipe which was rusted through. I'm disappointed that the reported large puddle under the car wasn't investigated more thoroughly last fall. Had that happened, the engine coolant issue may have been found sooner and the cost of replacement AC parts/labor may have been avoided. Apparently excess heat in the engine compartment -- not AC system issues -- was behind the AC compressor overheating and shutting down. Looking for the cause only in the AC system resulted in costly repairs that may not have been necessary. Missing the issue with the coolant leak could have put my engine at risk for damage. Bottom line? My confidence in the shop is not what it used to be.

When I was finally checked in, the older man told the technician to take someone else's car first (which took over 30 minutes) because my car was going to be a piece of cake??? Seriously? Why not take the piece of cake. Also, why discuss that in front of a customer with an appt? Also, since I was the only one waiting, ummmmm... you see where this is going. While this may be a great auto shop, this is not the place for inspections. It was one of the slowest inspections I have ever received.

I called around to a few places to find a place that worked on diesel cars and they said they did. When I showed up there was lots of confusion about my car. Wrong parts were used and eventually they determined they didn't have the part my car needed. I was advised to come back the next day, still no part. Day 3 at first they told me they didn't have the part then a second person came to correct the first so I was finally able to get my oil change. I thought everything was good until I went to get my car inspected...something was wrong with my car. Wrong filter and I had an oil leak (I'm not a car person but I'm pretty sure that was it). So I had to take my car to VW to get the work done correctly. This place was a waste if my time and money. I would never return.
