We had some work done by his crew when we moved to NY and it was fine. Maybe a bit pricey for what it was but the work was quality and done on time. That work would have been rated 3-4 stars and was done by his crew, I never actually met Saxon personally. As that work was fine, we came back to Saxon to get some more work done recently. I was extremely disappointed by Saxon's ability to stick to a schedule. 35 emails back and forth and 10 reschedules between Monday and Thursday of this week. The excuses were free flowing (delayed, sick, forgot I had to be in court, was in a bike accident). This significantly inconvenienced me for the entire week (Saxon has apologized for this). Regardless of whether it is all true, I personally am not interested in working with someone who had this many challenges sticking to a schedule to do the work. read more

CHANGING MY REVIEW ABOUT SAXON ***SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS****** After I hired Saxon for the first job and he did a good job, I gave him 5 stars. But things started going down hill very fast from there. I hired him for other jobs. I came home at 8AM one morning after Saxon had been in our Loft and we found human feces on our niece's dress we purchased for her as a gift (We have photos, the dress, emails/text and 2 witnesses proving Saxon admitting to the feces on our niece's dress). Saxon tried to blame a worker who couldn't find toilet paper in the bathroom so he used our niece's dress to wipe the feces of his buttocks and then he hid the dress in our cloths. HOWEVER, no one else was in our Loft at that time but Saxon and he had just returned from dinner that evening into our Loft. Nor have we received the apology letter that Saxon said he would send us from his mystery worker. We also caught Saxon in a number of lies. He told us that he completed the work in our Loft and he wanted the final payment; but when we inspected our Loft, the work was NOT finished. He said that his workers lied to him; but his workers told us that they never told Saxon that the work was finished. Saxon also lied to us about painting the entire ceiling in our loft. He used latex paint on top of the old non-latex paint so you could see the shinny latex paint shining in the areas he only painted. Saxon also lied to my face about holding off on depositing a check until Friday and then he went and deposited the check same day. He would look into my eyes and say he would be returning that same day and he would never return. He also told me that my tenant had made statements to him about me that were defamatory, which may also be a lie. After getting to know Saxon since August 2013, he is a person I would never trust and there is something wrong with him mentally. He did admit to me over the phone during one of our arguments that he was seeing a psychiatrist and that he has an out of control anger problem. I also have a temper problem when I feel that I am being cheated so you can imagine the arguments I had with Saxon. He would always use the word "SCOPE" to outline what he will and will not do for you and never go the extra mile for you. But when the "SCOPE" is in your favor, he had attempted to escape his responsibility until I would insist he keep to the scope. I also find him to be overpriced then a number of other contractors. I know that Saxon is trying to do his best and I do NOT think that he is an evil guy; but his behavior scared us and we don't trust him. read more

We called SpeedyFixIt to work on a few projects we had at 2 different locations. It's great that they give a cost estimate before they start the project. The overall cost was pretty spot on at the end. The first was to install a TV wall mount and a cabinet -- that process went smoothly and Vincent did a quick and efficient job. The cabinet was not assembled yet and he managed to put it together in about 15 minutes without even looking at the instructions! Same with the wall mount that I purchased through Amazon. Everything was done in about 45-50 minutes and I was thrilled since it would've easily taken me at least 4-5 hours if I attempted it myself... The second job was at another location was a bit more cumbersome -- a giant hole in the wall. This entire process was definitely more troubling than we anticipated. We took a photo of the wall even before setting a time for the appointment in hopes that it would facilitate the process. There was a bit of confusion because Vincent came by to look at it, without any materials, analyzed the size and shape of the hole and said he'd have to come back another day since all the hardware stores were closed. We had to reschedule and he came back the next day to fix the hole but to some dissatifaction, he told us we'd have to sand and paint the rest ourselves, which was quite disappointing. I called Saxon and expressed my disappointment and he scheduled another appointment to have Vincent come by to at least sand the drywall and it looked better immediately. Still, it was my hope that the process would be completed 100% but I did appreciate that they came back to fix it up a bit. I'd call them again but most likely for more external around-the-house type projects. read more

Needed to loft a queen bed in my 2nd bedroom for some much needed extra storage. I called Saxon for a quote. It took a little bit of back and forth but he was able to come by the apt and have a look. Got a quote and was able to schedule him to come in within the week. If you want to reduce the costs and need lumber/supplies you should get the supplies for him or there is further hourly rates. Saxon and his associate came by and were able to loft the bed in a couple hours. Vincent actually did pretty much all the work as Saxon had to run out to get a bit more wood. But they fastened the 2x4s to the studs in my wall and the bed is up and completely secure. Definitely quality service and he can do as simple or custom as you'd like. I'll most certainly have him come by to take down the bed and fix up the walls if I ever move from my place. read more

I will be sure to use Speedy Fix it again if I ever need any more work done in my apartment. I had the place sprayed to prevent bugs and needed someone to come and find/seal up openings/cracks. I was able to book them within 24 hours which was incredibly convenient. I was emailed to let me know they were running late and was emailed again 10 minutes before their arrival. The communication was great! The work was done quickly and well. There was no trying to stretch out each project to take longer like some places. Only one opening was missed because it was too short notice for them to bring a ladder (which was my fault) Just be sure to note if you need a ladder or something specific like this when you book your appointment. I was told only cash or check.. credit card would be more convenient. Super friendly and was great with my cats. :) read more

We got our TV nicely mounted, and ultimately for free, but it was not all good. We saw the good reviews on yelp so we called Saxon. He quoted a fixed price $125 to install assuming we buy the mount, which we accepted. However there were two problems: * We asked by email whether the mount we were looking at would fit TV (emailed him URL for mount at best-buy + model for TV); he confirmed but when his guy Larry arrived it didn't fit so we had to take it back * When he was due to refit the correct mount, he confirmed he was coming at 4pm so I left work early, and at 6:30pm he cancelled. Finally, the next visit, Larry showed up on time, and mounted the TV. He did a good job, if this were a review for Larry's workmanship he'd get 4 stars. Having pointed out the lapses in service, Saxon was most apologetic, and sent a full refund. read more

Listen. Do yourself a favor, silence that wannabe handyman inside you and let go of your ego. Mounting a TV is difficult work. I am no expert but consider myself competent in around the house tasks and thought I could do it myself. Two trips and one phone call to the hardware store later I was frustrated and about $40 in the hole. I should have called Speedyfixit sooner. These guys were great! Moving in NYC is always a pain, but, I tried to be as organized as possible and on my moving day literally scheduled the movers, Saxon's team to mount my flat screen to the wall, and the cable guy in succession. There was a slim window between when my movers finished hauling everything in and when the cable guy arrived - I needed the TV mounted to the wall in that time. Not only was Saxon's team flexible when I realized the mover's would be finished 30 minutes later than originally planned, but he followed up with me the next day to see if I was happy with the work. Seems easy enough but being that I live in a pre-war apartment with plaster walls, it was quite the scene attempting to mount anything. This is when my search for a handyman came in. I found SpeedyFixIt through yelp and was impressed by all of the reviews. I emailed the company and arranged to have one of the men (Vincent) come to my apartment. The quote was VERY reasonable and he arrived on time. It only took a little over an hour to put up three shelves and a wine rack. He left no mess and was very pleasant. The actual job was assembly of an armoire and it was an $135.job. I received an invoice for $350 for an hour and a half of work. I text the young man to alert him that there is obviously an error. He acknowledged apologized and stated that that invoice was for another client I then requested a corrected invoice for $135 which he agreed to along with an apology Here's where it started to get shady - he quickly directed me to the conversation of not calling the bank and alerting them that - he would take care of it because it takes longer for them to resolve a incorrect charge (5days) . Interesting ! Unprofessional, juvenile and just completely inept to handle any transactions let alone overseeing a business . I reported this incident to the New York City police . They charge me $700 in error and after 4 texts , multiple request for a corrected invoice and bank calls etc. It became a 48 hour nightmare with much attitude. Paxton is irresponsible and billing is suspicious. I tried my best to resolve but had to cancel my card and go through the fraud dept . A Nightmare and time consuming. I cannot recommend this business. There is something very shady going on . BEWARE.... Someone shared this via messages Saxon was arrested twice this year.he stole $20,000 from 1 client. Don't walk, run the other way. It's 2:10 pm on a Tuesday and I had to to stop what I was doing to warn people of this guy. This guy saxton and speedfixit are absolutely TERRIBLE. I should have listened to the previous reviews, but I thought let me give him a chance. Don't make my mistake! I took off from work in the middle of the day for him to come and install ceiling curtain rods. He sent a guy with no ladder and then hung up the phone on me. Saxon and his crew really helped me out because I was moving and needed to have my light fixture taken down in my old apartment and then have the landlord's re-installed and I needed them to disassemble a wardrobe that would not work in my new place but I had to get it out of my old apartment so they did that and put it out on the curb. Definintely recommend - hired them to install my 10K btu air conditioner. Got stood up by someone on Craigslist, so I did my research on Yelp and called SpeedyFixIt. Price was very reasonable, Vincent came on time and completed the job quickly and professionally - and was polite and didn't make a mess while he worked. He didn't use all the screws/plastic equipment that came with the brackets, but everything looks and seems secure and I'm more than happy with the job - he definitely knew what he was doing. Found them to be flexible regarding my schedule and I in turn was flexible with theirs. After the job was completed and paid in full, I had a concern about something and brought it to Saxon's attention. Vincent came that day and addressed my concerns. This guy was the ABSOLUTE WORST! I paid him the deposit upfront. He didn't show up on the day that he was booked. Ignored my calls until I had my husband call him (from an unrecognized cell phone number) and only then did he pick up. Was clearly on another job but for some reason started screaming at ME as though I had done something wrong! Then to add insult to injury sent ME emails calling me a "bad person," threatening me with small claims court, and cc-ing a couple of Better Call Saul lawyers on his emails. Unpleasant, unreliable, mentally unstable. Forefeited the deposit rather than have to deal with him again but I see from other reviews that people have taken him to small claims and won. I emailed speedy fix it to have my bed disassembled and he (saxon) got back to me pretty quickly. even though he had projected 3 hours (at $75 per hour), he was done 40 minutes! and he was really nice too. earlier, i had talked to him about painting my room in an email. he brought it up when he finished with the bed and when i said i was thinking about doing it myself he encouraged me to do so to save the money! i would recommend them read more

the top two mistake of working with saxon were: 1) saxon lied about having insurance. when my co-op asked for proof of insurance he made excuses and put me and the building management off until the job was done when he finally admitted that he didn't have insurance. ask for written proof of insurance immediately if this matters to you at all 2) when "refinishing" my hardwood floors he left them in significantly worse shape than he found them. when pressed he admitted oh, he had done the entire floor with an edger. meaning there are deep circular grooves all over my floors. the more things went wrong the crazier and more evasive saxon got and the shittier his work got (he painted a single stripe on my ceiling where some repair had taken place with a completely different paint than the rest of the ceiling). saxon was a monumental pain in the ass who did a terrible job which lasted twice as long as he thought it would and who cost me $600 a day. honestly, i went to him b/c of the recommendation of a friend. at the end of the fiasco, i both kicked myself for ever paying him and looked into taking him to small claims court. I left the experience thinking, oh, this is why people distrust contractors. read more

Saxon is rude, unreliable, unstable, inept, will take your money without completing the job correctly, and then scream at you on the phone when you try to get him to follow through. don't be fooled; he may seem charming and nice at first, but then he'll go haywire and lose his mind. he came to fix my sink without the proper equipment, did a quarter of the job, and took my money promising to return with the necessary tools. I never saw him again, though I certainly got an earful from him yelling and hollering at me when I tried to call and see when he was going to return. save your money, your sanity, and the head/earache by avoiding this so-called man. All the positive reviews here? Totally baffling. Maybe he was off his meds - just read the bad reviews to see what the potential harm could be and then run away. read more

Speedy? Not my experience. Always an excuse as to why he didn't show up. I relied on him to do a job in a doctor's office where I work and regret doing so. I have many people who were waiting on the sidelines to see how he did the job and none of them are going to use him. He came to give a quote and then disappeared but reappeared with an excuse. On all but one occasion, every time he said he would show up he was either late or didn't show. Took ages to do the job and when he finally did come it wasn't satisfactory. The lavatory seat wasn't secured properly and slipped as was the lavatory itself, which wobbled. He 'forgot' the water filters when he came and getting him to return was a trial. He returned and only bothered to replace one of the two waters filters and didn't secure the water canisters properly and left. There was water dripping and damage all over my wooden floor which, incidentally, he didn't offer to pay for and had no interest in trying to 'fix' the extraneous damage'. He sent one of his henchmen around to secure the water filters after me phoning him up and exploding., Saxon might be a great plumber but I wouldn't rely on him and DEFINITELY don't pay upfront - maybe half or a third. My experience was that he is not focused and is trying to cram too much into his day at the cost of his customers. read more

After being stood up by GEEK SQUAD TWICE, I had SpeedyFixIt mount a 55" TV and then screw some hooks into my walls. After we realized that we needed a snake to run the TV wires through the wall, they came back the next day free of charge to do so. I am not sure what the going rate is for a handyman so to me their hourly rate sounded high at 80$ esp for just hanging art or hooks. But to have the TV mounted with Geek Squad it was around $270 and SpeedyFixIt charged only 125$ and they actually showed up. So thank you! read more
