It was too expensive so I got a similar computer and he did the data transfer and upgraded the Ram for a very low price. He then said he talked to someone about a replacement screen for my vaio and it was half as much. i go the vaio fix plus the new laptop for the price it would take to replace my vaio screen at another store. ** Ostensibly they are under new ownership as of February 2011. ** My review was written in 2009: READ THIS, AND CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. My computer had been crashing of late. Having used Speedy Tech to put the machine together almost a year ago, I was happy to go back again. What a mistake. The guys working there now are amateurs; unprofessional by the very definition. It took them a week to "fix" the problem (all they did, according to the Manager, was take the machine apart entirely and then put it back together, and they also cleaned the video card fan). There was no follow-up on their part, I had to call them repeatedly for updates. The staff was completely apathetic, and rude. After picking up the machine I realized when I got it back home they had kept my DVI-VGA video adapters, and when I called them on it the Manager had the gall to say, "You should have made sure you had everything when you left." Really?????? This was coming from the same guy who, when I asked if he would call me at the end of the day Thursday with a status update, replied, "I'll try to do that," and then didn't. The words "customer service" do not apply. After finally getting the thing wired again I turned it on, and it crashed 37 minutes later. Then again an hour after that. So after taking a week and four days with the machine, I'm out $124 dollars and they didn't fix the problem. Caveat emptor. Horrible horrible horrible. read more

Wanna get yelled at? Try to pay with AMEX! Tech showed up to the office an hour late. After an hour of doing tests, I thought I'd check up and see his progress. Modem went from barely working before he arrived, to not working (I guess that can happen). Ok, fine - modems die. He said we had a 'special' modem that had to be purchased from the ISP (which I found at Best Buy...). To be fair, he was a nice kid. I call his boss to pay by card (for an hour late service and broken modem), and apparently they don't take AMEX. Boss flips out and I spend 5 minutes listening to him yell why they don't take AMEX, why they don't send invoices and basically demonstrating how to be an unprofessional dick. I offered to pay by PayPal, then laughed when I realized our internet didn't work! Aah, the irony. read more

I tried to call 6different places to find out who could repair my keyboard. Everyone except this place said I'd have to replace the whole thing and no would repair one key. Well Speedy Tech said to come that day and they'd see if they could repair one key or if they had to replace the whole thing. I'm thrilled not to spend to replace whole keyboard. They fixed the one key and I'm happy. On the spot, for $50 (vs. $150 to replace it). Great price for a screen replacement for a Macbook. They say 1 day turnaround on phone. I bring it in on Wed they say 2 day turnaround. Friday they say screen's replaced but some board or other that connects the built-in camera is damaged and needs to be replaced. I say how much. (Tho the camera was FINE when I brought it in) they say theyll have to check. I don't hear back Friday. I call Saturday and find out the parts store's not open 'til monday. I call Monday Morning and it turns out the Mac guy only comes in at 3pm. Talk to Mac guy at 3 and I say never mind camera, just gimme the thing. He says he has to put it back together. He leaves without doing so. I call at 5:15 to find out he's gone home. I get pissed and say how fucked up that is and the guy hangs up on me. Three times. Finally get my laptop back 6 days after taking it in, minus the camera. What scumbags. read more

I was very impressed with the service I received from Speedy Tech. Both Sam and Andy were extremely helpful. I contacted them because my computer was running more slowly than I would have liked. They came to my home and were prepared to install a new SSD hard drive. After reviewing my situation and working with my computer they determined that it would be more prudent to keep my existing Raid configured hard drives rather than purchase and install a new drive, which might only marginally improve my computer speed. Sam is a good man and a Consummate Professional. I called him when he was working at home because of The Covid & told him my issue and asked about a diagnostic. He said just bring the computer over...no charge to check it out. I never did bring it to him...just suffered the annoyances it was giving me. A few weeks later after HP Support could not resolve my new problem, I brought it to Sam at his shop. Andy met me and brought me inside. Ryan wound up working on the computer. Both fine young men. Very pleasant and professional. Ryan educated me re the dust & dirt that had built up inside my computer and covered the motherboard. Not a pretty sight. When all was said and done, instead of having to lay out $600-$900 for a new or refurbished computer...I spent $65 and my computer is in great shape now. First off, Speedy Tech is under new management. Secondly, they DO accept American Express and other credit cards, I only mention this because a review from 2012 (below) said they didn't allow him to use one. More importantly, Sam & Andy are VERY honest about the work that needs to be done and very fair with pricing. I cant tell you how many times I called Sam to ask for his advice or direction without getting a bill for it. They are super friendly, trustworthy, knowledgeable, patient and diligent in their work. I had a great experience. My recommendation would be to look at the dates of the bad reviews and notice they are all very outdated. Paid $100 for them to fix nothing and yell (no exaggeration) at my employee. After paying them $100 to have them tell us our internet is still not working and they don't know how to fix it, my employee got yelled at (no really - literally yelled at) because she dared to offer Amex as a payment instead of paying cash on the spot (with no W-9 to report payment to the IRS).... The tech was a nice kid (although he couldn't fix anything) but the owner is rude. End result though is that nothing got fixed and we're out $100 now. read more

Speedy Tech Computer Center is the best place around. I was on my mothers computer when I was not supposed to be and got a virus. The computer crashed and I was freaking out that she was going kill me before I turn 21 in 21 days...lol. Point is I needed it done in less than 4 hours and they made it happened before she got home from work. They saved all of her work documents, photos and everything for her business. I bought an overpriced computer that came with no software. When I had problems with the computer, the technicians only gave me solutions to problems for which they couldn't be held liable. None helped, and I ended up having to Google the solutions myself. When my boss became fed up with my constant problems with the computer, he wanted to return it. Once again, we were having some problems with our network due to aging equipment, new software we needed, wifi connection problems, etc.....the usual junk for the digital age. A friend of mine referred me to Speedy Tech, as she has used them in the past and was pleased with their service. When I called them about my computer they asked me to bring it in. I was informed ahead of time about parking, as this place is near a busy intersection. There was only one tech available when I arrived and he took a look at my computer. He opened the computer to examine it and did some sort of diagnostic test. After about 20 minutes, due to some other customer interruptions, he told me the problem but stated my computer wouldn't be available until a much later date if they repaired it. I figured as much, because this place gets alot of business, as customers came in after I arrived to pick up their repaired computers. If I didn't need my computer fixed right away, I would've used Speedy Tech. Also, they have new and used computers for sale. Most importantly, the tech was professional and honest. I've done with with Speedy Tech twice and both times walked away a satisfied customer. Any of your computer needs can be solved by theses guys. Effiicient, knowledgable, and competively priced. Recently, I had a virus on my desktop. I have ATT tech support and for 9 hours they could not solve the problem. So i took the computer to Speedy Teach around 9:30 am and they called me a few hours later about the virus. They removed the virus and I got my computer back that night working nice. INCREDIBLE! These guys are magnificent ! Last year, 2010 I had all of my information transferered from my home computer onto my laptop and they did it in one day at a very inexpensive price. I recently spilled liquid on my computer and my keyboard stopped working, I took it to ST on Saturday, Aug 6, 2011They replaced my keyboard and had it ready 2 days later, Monday Aug, 8, at a very competitive price. What would have cost me $600 to $1000 for a new computer only cost me $150.00 I also happened to forget my wallet and I needed to buy groceries just a few blocks away at Trader Joes but I would have had to travel all the way back to downtown L.A. to retrieve it.
