They have a whole rotisserie chicken that is nice to shred for several different meal options. Their prices also do not seem to be out of line. They practice safety during Covid asking for masks and providing hand sanitizer. We appreciate the store carrying more household items after our local grocery store closed. They have avocados and mushrooms along with lettuce and other commonly used items.

I tend to get groceries at Hy-Vee, typically an hour of two after landing in the Twin Cities. It's cool that I have shopped enough to get a gas discount. Where is a Hv-Vee with a gas station? I did a search and found this one in Lakeville. I then realized that I have passed by this gas station to get to Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in the past. Cool! It was nice dropping by this area. I was last getting a frozen custard dessert over a year ago on a frigid winter's day because that's how I roll. This gas station is clean and inviting. Scanning my barcode was a challenge. Other than that, I was able to pay for gas with my Canadian credit card just fine at the gas pump. The convenience store looked inviting. I saw a man come out with a massively long sub sandwich. I started to drool. I love subs. I grabbed dinner at Freddy's afterwards. I'd love to check out the convenience store, and see what food and drinks are available. It must be decent because I love everything at Hy-Vee's. I'm glad that I dropped by to get my gas discount. We call this place Amcon in town because that is what the signage says. I do not know if they were a Conoco station, are a Conoco station and Amcon is a subsidiary of Conoco but the markings and coloring is the same. I didn't add this place, it was already on Yelp. I thought I had this place added as Amcon a long time ago. I also recall taking pictures of the place. Inside is a tiny store with an attached auto repair center with 2 bays. They also have a car wash here. We had stopped by to drop off used oil from oil changes that I did myself, they take it for free. They have an Oil recycling station inside the shop that you can poor it into. The people seem friendly here and the gas prices are in-line with other stations.

I called the number provided and spoke with Mike who said he was allowed by Minnesota law to charge this amount because he isn't open 24 hours. I told him that was ridiculous. I admit I was very angry, and maybe out of line, but in all my years with American Express (since 1987) never has this happened. Mike told me to call my credit card company, so I did. When I spoke with the representative at American Express, she said they have received reports of this happening across the US, but it is illegal to charge more than the purchase amount in any transaction. So, she suggested I wait for 24 hours and recheck if the correct amount is posted; i.e., $22 is posted! All I can say is I will never, never do any business with this place ever again

I headed down to northern Iowa, did a few stops in Rochester and Burnsville, and then drove back to the hotel. Driving up Highway 52, roughly ten kilometres (even in miles, I do the conversion) before hitting Rosemount, my rental car's light indicating that I was low on gas appeared. It wasn't a panic type of alert. In my head, I was calculating whether I could get to a gas station closer to the hotel. Nope. I needed to get to one a lot sooner. A quick search on my phone's map gave me this BP. It was on my way to Burnsville. Yay! This BP is brightly lit. It was a fairly dark drive over. I was happy to pull into the station to take care of my getting-empty gas tank. There were plenty of pumps available. I parked next to one and tried to figure out which credit card to use. I still have an active Discover card from my time living in this state. The problem is that the ZIP code is 00000 on my statement to accommodate my Canadian address. It means that whenever I insert this credit card into a gas payment system and I get prompted for my ZIP code, entering all zeroes is deemed either suspicious or invalid. My Canadian credit card generally works when I enter the numbers in my postal code, followed by two zeroes when prompted to enter a ZIP code. I decided that this card was the best candidate. Each gas pump now has a gas station TV channel. I caught some college football and $1 breakfast sandwiches at Burger King as I inserted my credit card to get things started. I loved that I was never prompted to enter a ZIP code. I simply inserted my card and entered my PIN. Done! I selected the type of gas that I wanted and filled my car's gas tank up. I was so happy. This gas station is clean. It had paper towel. The lighting is great. This place also has an auto service centre. I saw a woman go inside the convenience store to pay for gas. I didn't need to go inside. I did see beverages in a fridge from my vantage point. BP has an app. I'll need to check it out and see if it works for Canadians. I am thrilled that BP doesn't prompt for a ZIP code. It's such a pain for non-Americans! (430)
