I'm very impressed with these guys. I've used them twice, once for a jumpstart and once for a motorcycle tow. The motorcycle tow can use either a flatbed or a dolly truck, and they use padded straps so that no marks are left on the bike. Both the drivers and the dispatch are very professional. I used to use a motorcycle exclusive towing company, but these guys have earned my business and are now my preferred vendor. Speed's towing, haha so speedy that they show up hours before scheduled and get mad really quickly when you want the situation remedied. I called Speedy two weeks ago and spoke to a nice girl on the phone, I asked her questions about the process and the price and all. I was told if I called 24 hours ahead of time it was cheaper. Fast forward to two days ago, I called almost 48 hours in advance (to, I think, the same nice girl) to help them out by calling much more than 24 hours in advance, not to mention I was very flexible with time. I needed to have the car towed to a mechanic that wasn't open until 10am, but beyond that as long as they give me a heads-up, they could really do anytime after 10am but before 6pm. I purposely tried to be flexible for them. (Yesterday on a somewhat related note, we had another company come to the house to do some work. They showed up an hour early (around 7am) waking my girlfriend, who closes at the place where she works. Today, at the same exact time, while my girlfriend was asleep, Speedy showed up four hours earlier than planned. I was "greeted" by Jerry (I think that was his name), who was in no way apologetic, nor capable of apology and was very defensive when I informed him of the mistake. Although I was mad, I immediately told him that I wasn't mad at him but at his company, which didn't seem to change his equally upset demeanor (people don't work for tow truck companies because they love and are good with people.) I wasn't planning to mention the rotund smoothly bald Jerry with the sun-burned top, but him constant calling "Bud" and not really caring to fix anything left me no choice. All I wanted from him was that he could either call them in the moment and settle the issue or have them call me with a more specific time than his original option of "anytime in the next 24 hours," which obviously doesn't work as the mechanic closes at 6pm. He soon gave me a more slightly specific time of "probably 11-2," which didn't really suffice for me giving the fact that he was continuing to encourage me to shop elsewhere. Although he obviously wasn't sorry, and didn't apologize, I was okay with that, what I wasn't okay with was that there wasn't a single second where he seemed to care enough to help me and to want make things right. He has worked there 19 years and they don't care what he thinks, he told me, and I believe him, I've been in his shoes. But I wasn't filing a complaint, I just wanted a simple confirmation of a new time and a guarantee that this time they wouldn't screw up, which is apparently too much to ask. I then call and talk to Nichole (spelling?) and I'm pretty sure this was the same "nice lady" I had spoken to the previous two times. I told her the situation and she too was Speedy in her anger, defensive and unapologetic, unwilling to help and Speedy to hang up on me when I asked to speak to someone more competent. She had told me that a manager would have to review the recording of the initial phone call. (I've been in many a situation like this before, they never ever ever review tapes and phone calls etc, and generally they don't even know how to, it's only used in a court of law type situation...) Is there a single person who can Speedily set up a tow and not be Speedy in getting upset? Of course not, that's their motto! But wait, I then called back and talked to Kim, who seems to be a failure as a Speedy employee, because she wasn't Speedy to anger. She did set up a new time, but the company has no policy for giving discounts when they screw up/wake you from your sleep/waste your time. read more

Experienced a blowout Friday on Sauvie Island, without a spare. Called Speedy, and they had a truck there in roughly an hour. Loaded my vehicle without issue, and dropped me at Les Schwab in St Johns. Solid experience. Only issue was removing the hook from front axle. Driver had to use hammer and crowbar to deal with a stuck hook, which was disconcerting. Luckily no damage done. read more

Michaela and Austin were literal saints for me. Michaela was so sweet over the phone and Austin came and got me completely fixed within 30/45 minutes in total, at 2-3AM. I'm SO thankful to them! I don't know what I would've done otherwise. I called so many towing companies before I called this one and nobody answered, most didn't even have a voicemail. Speeds towing answered however, and almost immediately. I was shocked I actually got someone. I was a young girl trapped in the middle of downtown Portland in the middle of the night. I had tried changing my tire myself because I had a flat (which I've done countless times on my car and other cars) but I didn't realize I was on a bit of a hill, so I ended up stuck and scared with one tire off my car and not being able to get my spare back on. So sorry Michaela for crying so much! You were such a sweetheart and helped me feel so much better in my situation. I am disabled and was driving to physical therapy when I slid into a curb and banged my rim up. The guys came and put the spare on and we thought we were good to go. They took off and I went cautiously on my way, but my car wasn't driving right at all. I immediately called the tow truck driver and luckily he wasn't far away. They came back for me and were able to tow me home. After all of that stress, I wasn't up to pulling the car into the driveway, so one of the gentlemen did it for me. I really appreciated that. Also, they helped out a fire wife while her husband was on duty on 9/11. He really appreciated that they were able to help me and come back when I realized it wasn't drivable. Update: Within 10 minutes of posting this review, it was commented on by Michael from Speed's. How funny -- after calling and leaving a message on Wednesday morning, calling back again and leaving a message on Thursday morning, and then calling again today on Tuesday afternoon and leaving yet another message, I have still not received a phone call back about this. But 10 min after a 1 star Yelp review?! Hmmmmmmm.... ------- STAY FAR, FAR AWAY! I purchased a $4,000+ car from Speed's and paid an additional amount to deliver the car to a meeting spot where I would pick up the car, the keys, and sign for the delivery. Instead, the driver dropped off the car in an unsecured location and left the keys in the car. I was not notified that the car was even delivered -- thank goodness we figured out that it was delivered and we were able to retrieve it before it was stolen. Over the past week, I have contacted Speed's three times to complain about this and request a refund of the delivery fee. Despite the office staff taking down my information three times now, I have not yet been able to get a hold of anyone that can do anything about a refund, etc. I am incredibly frustrated that Speed's does not seem to care that this car could have been stolen. My advice: go somewhere else. What a freakin' mess. read more

I was stuck on the 12th floor of a parking garage in downtown Portland yesterday. Justin showed up to help me and he could not have been more pleasant. My cars gas relay needed to be replaced (we know that today) - somehow we were able to get the car started by doing a trick I found on utube, along with him giving my car extra power. Parked in a spot for under an hour and was towed. The location of tow, nearly 20 mins away in far North Portland in a very shady area without lights and dirt roads. I get that tow companies put their location out of the way, but this was in an area nobody would want to be unless escorted by police. Regardless that I paid over $241 to get my car back, the lady stayed on the phone with me giving directions and thankfully did not charge an overnight fee. Super expensive! Third down on the google search list is Triple J towing. They are cheaper by 1/3. And faster by two hours.

The tow driver did everything he could get to get my car started when it was parked far back in my garage. He did a lot of maneuvers to get the truck as close as he could and was very mindful of the plants and other obstacles he had around him. I could tell he did not want to give up! The only unfortunate thing was that the extra long jumper cables he carried did not reach, especially because the plug in box was halfway down his cab. We had to borrow from a neighbors because mine were stuck in the trunk of my car that I couldn't open because it was dead. Only think I would recommend is that maybe they carry a portable charger or an extra set of regular cables just in case of these types of situations. read more
