After she introduced herself, asked if we could do this initial information session via email or text. "No." Ok, I said, I happen to not be going to church this morning, but I would guess Sunday afternoon might be better for some people. She laughed at me condescendingly. Then she asked "so what is your situation?" I paused and said I didn't know what she was referring to, by "situation." She said well, your situation. Keep in mind I already filled out the internet form which asks all the demographic ?s. I said, do you mean education? Finances? Career? She snorted and said why are you bringing up money? She asked a few questions like what are you looking for in a man, what fun things do you do that you could do together, which I answered of course. The cherry on top was being informed she needed me to come to Park Crest (and snorted again when I didn't immediately know what neighborhood that was in) for a 90 minute interview. And that I needed to do that on a weekday, at 10a, 1p or 330p. I told her I couldn't because I'm a lawyer at a state agency and it's not convenient to take time off for something I consider discretionary. Plus, I was thinking, you want my money, so you should be a little more accommodating. At the end of the conversation it was clear that she had taken a dislike to me, and I said I would invest my time in another means of meeting someone. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone.

I was even asked to write a disclosure about my visual impairment -- something no other service has ever required and completely unnecessary given my independent lifestyle. My first date ended with me being stood up, and communication from the company steadily declined afterward. Matches I expressed interest in were suddenly "declined," and eventually my matchmaker stopped contacting me entirely. There is also no Austin office, which severely limits their ability to provide local matches. Overall, the service did not deliver what I paid for, and I cannot recommend it.

My spidey senses were off it seems but I talked at length over the phone with Tracey in San Antonio who said it was such a great successful matchmaking service. I went into their office near Zilker and Mopac and met with Trudy Dennehy. An older woman who's been married for 30 some odd years. I told her what and who I was looking for in a partner. Filed out all the questions on the paperwork and coughed up the money. I didn't like how I was blindly being set up and not even a photo of their gents. She said they don't do that anymore and have a lot of success doing it this way. They're the professionals. Ugh. I received a packet with all the information. About two weeks passed and suddenly I received a call from what sounded to me like grandpa from the sticks calling me wanting to set up a date. He was all about what I had stated was a deal breaker. I mean everything. It was as if they confused the deal breaker list for my desired partner list. Our short conversation with this match was clear we had zero in common and I don't think I could even have had a coffee with this guy. Did they even look at my stipulations? Anyway I requested a refund since no date was ever made and I'd be willing to loose 500$ but not everything. It wasn't going to work out since I wasn't being heard in finding my ideal mate. They told me there are no refunds and I replied it was false advertising if they can't even get me close to whom I wanted. The data base must be very small. Since I declined the first date match they said I couldn't proceed but I couldn't get a refund. Biggest gambling loss ever. No refund No match Poor communication My friend who moved to Vermont later told me she had signed up with Texas Singles and went on two disastrous dates. One was obese and the other was in his 70's. She couldn't get her money back and lost 2500$. That was the first time I heard a different business name. It's all a scam and not above board.
