It can get a little muddy after it rains or snows here, but the wood chips seem to help a little bit with that. It's very spacious, and the regulars here are very friendly! If you're looking for a busy dog park for your dog to socialize while hanging around a bunch of people who love their pups just as much as you do, this is it! An added bonus is that the bar across the street is dog friendly, so if you have to stop in for the bathroom or a drink your pup is allowed! Right outside of the bar is a dog washing station just in case your dog seems to love the mud piles that is reasonably priced! It's great so you can avoid the mud in your car.

South Shore of course has: - Rentable pavilion that hosts a lot of weddings - South Shore Beer Garden top notch - Newly constructed beach area - South Shore Farmer's Market - Picnic areas - Volleyball (sand courts) - Playground - Oak Leaf Trail cuts through it - Bike trail - Fishing (shared with Cuppertino off the docks by the SS Yacht Club) The views of Milwaukee's Downtown are some of the best, and you gotta respect South Shore Park in Bay View.

There are so many trees and trails and sniffs and places to hide! The best winter forest adventure of my life!! I played hide-and-seek with momma for at least 20 minutes - hehehe - I knew she'd never find me in that log ;) I took poops everywhere but there were loads of stations with extra poop bags and garbage bags, so I knew momma would be able to clean up after me easily. All the other people and puppies were very friendly, I made lots of friends. I am really, really excited to visit again soon. It reminded me of that time in the UP with the hikes. Now, that was a long time ago! Back in those days my young beagle never, ever got tired AND there were very few Milwaukee area dog parks so Sully and I frequented the Katherine Kearney Carpenter dog park. He got tired and I got relaxed. It was a win, win. This park is quite large as far as dog parks go. And, it's stunningly beautiful. There are wooded areas, prairie areas as well as a small creek. Do be aware, it is not fenced in. There are a few benches scattered throughout for a break and there is an agility course for the dogs on the north entrance. Sully was quite noteworthy at The Park. He loves "hunting" which involved baying or howling in a loud, high-pitched sound. People would often hear him before they saw him. His voice was so high-pitched people often worried that he was injured. Nope, just "hunting." Sully passed in 2019. We had such a fun time together and he lived a full, happy life. My current dog Sylvie is now 5 years old and I took to this park for the first time this fall. I reminisced and felt just a bit closer to my sweet boy Sully. And, Sylvie had a blast! She loves to swim! This is a wonderful park to relax, for dogs to get exercise and to be truly in nature. You'll love it here!

All of the dogs we have owned love going for a walk though the woods, up the trails, down the long staircases then passed the club house and pond to the river. There is also a wading pool for young kids to cool off on a hot summer day!!! We currently have a mother deer with her fawn living in the woods. But she does bring her fawn into the Jacobus Park neighborhood to show her off!! Absolutely love Jacobus Park!

While the lower level of the pavilion was still not usable, the upper area, where the party took place was great. The concern was a possible odor from the flooding damage in the lower level and how it would challenge the upper. Turned out to be just fine. Wonderful venue for a family and friends' party.
