I did think it was cool there were some vintage jungle gym and spring mounted things, but over all for the size of the park the jungle gyms were underwhelming. This location is actually Harborview Park within the Ozaukee County Parks system. It is on top of…read morethe hill at southeast intersection of North Milwaukee Street and West Washington Street. It is a small parcel of land that is a natural, native plant landscape (not manicured, unable to walk through). The native plants attract beautiful butterflies and act as a filter for runoff. The wooden deck with picnic tables is a great place to eat lunch if you work in the area or are running up the hill, and provide a peaceful view of Port Washington Harbor.

This is a beautiful land preserve located just outside of Fredonia Wi. The Ozaukee Washington land…read moretrust oversees this preserve. Parking is limited with just two spots right off of clover valley road next to the trail head sign but you can park along the side of the road. The trail to the top of the hill leads you to a old house remains. Just the foundation remains but it is a really interesting find. There is also the remains of a larger building, possibly a barn at one time. The structure does have some graffiti And we seem to find beer bottles there every time we visit. A hot spot for the local teenagers I'm sure. The trail leads you along a huge grassland area where you can easily spot turkey vultures, Hawks and other large birds hunting for small game. Once you reach the end of the grassland area the trail splits and you can either go up to your left or down to your right. If you choose the upward trail you will hike up and down a trail that winds down from the hilltop into the forest, finishing at the plank walk and looping back to the opposite trail. There is a bench area along this trail. If you choose the downward trail it will take you directly to a plank walk down to Huiras lake. There is a small Pier that goes out onto the lake so you can observe the otters that swim there, or watch the ducks. I am unsure how the fishing is at this lake. There is no boat access from the land preserve. This is a nice place to walk your dog, or to take your family on a nature walk. I have brought my cub scouts here to do bird counts, it's not well traveled and because it isn't you can really enjoy the solitude while there.

Follow them on FB for updates! It's all happening at KM State Forest Northern Unit!

I took my family to south beach last week and we loved it. The beach and sand was very clean. We…read morehad the beach to ourselves since we went on a weekday. The only complaints I have is the directions are not very clear on where to go to find this beach and it is a long walk from the car to the beach when you have kids and lots of things to bring. Also the water and shore line has a lot of green slimy algae which wasn't a deal breaker but kinda gross lol

Long Lake rec area still gets a 5-stars from me! My son and I wanted to keep our Father's Day…read moreweekend camping tradition alive, and were lucky to grab a site in the #900 loop. Were disappointed in the WI DNR response regarding flush toilets and showers at Long Lake being out for septic emergency- expecting hundreds of Long Lakers to shower at Mauthe Lake was kind of ridiculous, but we roughed it and the extra porta-potties were good enough. You have to do the 1-mile Dundee Mountain hike within Long Lake 900's and is family friendly. Go the two beaches, do a Nature program at Mauthe Lake or the Ice Age Center, visit nearby Dundee for a burger, an ice cream cone, a beer, live fishing bait and firewood. We're never at a loss for things to do in the Kettle Moraine and enjoyed finding new to us trails like the Haskell Noyes Woods. We caught fish at both Long Lake and Mauthe Lake on our trip, and we love this campground and KM Northern Unit.

An awesome free fair…read more Free means no entrance fee. But you will have to pay for food, parking, rides, pony rides, etc. If you're like me and just enjoy animals, you could almost come here and not spend any money... lol We were able to find street parking close by. We had a little walk to the fair, but I'm good for walking. All the animals were up close and personal, and so much more accessible than at the state fair. There were tons of food vendors and all the food you want at a county fair. We ended up eating at the clover cafe, because it was air conditioned and indoors, but the food there was meh. But cheap! $5.75 for a 1/3 lb cheeseburger! But it wasn't very well seasoned, and the "fried onions" on it definitely needed a little more cooking done to merit the "fried" part. Hot dog was only $4, and it was similar to the Costco hot dog. So would I eat here again? No, I'll spend the $14 to get a burger from a vendor just across the street in the fair, unless I'm with older friends who need air conditioning. For $3, you can get a cup of animal feed to pet some goats and llama and lambs, etc. For $10, there is a camel ride, but it will only take you twice around a small area (it's over in under 5 minutes). Pony rides for kids merry-go-round style also available. I had fun just watching other people enjoying the rides, while rubbing pig noses and feeding baby goats. We came in the morning, but wish I had stayed for the evening shows and music. Definitely planning another year!

It looked like mostly families enjoying the sunshine and the ability to go to an outdoor event. Great for the person that wants to experience a fair but not be overwhelmed; however, I would suggest attending during the day on weekdays to avoid a potentially large crowd. It really isn't anything spectacular, except that it is one of the last free fairs in Wisconsin. I do hope it remains that way in years to come.
