Absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the City of Milwaukee! We are so glad we came and walked out on the pier to feel the cool breeze and take in the views, the reddish pink clay rocks lining the side are a beautiful contrast to the water and sky and makes for great pictures!

Doesn't get any prettier than this!

(From September 2021) Another fine park in the area of Milwaukee! This one is where you get a much better view of all the scenes and sights that make Milwaukee pretty damn cool. Lake Michigan, the clear sky, the shore, the boats/sails, and trees; all of it is here as you stroll through the trail that navigates through the South Shore Drive. There's a few summer homes here that you can rent and I'm not surprised as I wouldn't mind being one of those someday. Along the park is a biergarten, volleyball, playground, and fishing. So there's an activity for everyone here.

What a lovely park! I'm not from Milwaukee, and I was very charmed by this park. It seems like there's lots to do - volleyball courts, a beach, views, a playground... even a beer garden! And it's incredibly clean as well. Definitely enjoyed a breezy few hours down by the shoreline.

Is there anything South Shore Park doesn't have? Views of Lake Michigan? Check. Small beach area? Check. Sand volleyball court? Check. Playground? Check. Enough grass for 1000 picnickers? Check. A Miller beer garden selling Miller beer and food? Check. Clean bathrooms? Check. Access to Oak Leaf Trail? Check. This small park packs a punch. When people ask me how our weekend in Milwaukee was (not that I'm back in landlocked Nashville), I'm going to tell that Milwaukee has parks that make other parks look like parking lots that a little grass grew on. If I lived in Milwaukee, I'd be at South Shore Park regularly.

Green spaces are my jam. (If you've not noticed before in any of my reviews, I'm pretty passionate about parks/nature/the like. Nature acts as sanctuary for me.) Green spaces that feature a stellar view of a large body of water? Even better, in my book. Having recently re-located to Walker's Point, I'm finding myself more and more often in the Bay View area, and believe you me... the Beev boasts some pretty stellar parks. I already adore Humboldt Park... it makes me wish I was a dog owner. And South Shore? Just as good. A killer view, green space, walking trails and playground equipment for tha kiddies, this park also rocks a Farmer's Market that runs seasonally as well as venue space in the form of its pavilion. Wisconsin is an absolutely gorgeous state, all around. It speaks to our city that even in the heart of the urban environment, we have access to spaces such as these. Super important and super excellent, certainly.

Picnic area 1, has picnic tables in shade, sand volleyball in the sun.

Love this park, it's got a lot going for it. It's really big, lots of choice spots for small or large picnic groups. Lots of hills, shady trees, open spaces, good for playing catch, there's a sand volleyball court, a beach (not a comfortable beach, but not bad for Milwaukee), an historic park building, and it's right on the bike trail. Plenty of parking for automobiles too. By the way, this wonderful park and most of the others like it were brought to you by the socialists who ran the city back in the day, the park pavilion built during the Depression funded by Federal Work relief. Almost a century later, still being enjoyed by the people. It's a year 'round park but from July through August, wear some good insect repellent.

Found a bunch of neat stuff, including beach glass and beach pottery (aka sea glass).

Nice park in Bay View off Superior and Nock street. There is a large parking lot with boat trailer parking. Parking lot is right next to the beach, easy access. Nice green areas and trails. There is a rentable building that has bathrooms and a beer garden which opens daily at 4pm. There are several public boat launches and piers for fishing. The beach is pretty nice. I have never seen it crowded, even on weekends. It's much cleaner than Grant Park beach. I found some great sea glass at south shore beach.

Biked through on a Sunday and was happy to see a beer garden open and people outside enjoying the cool but Spring weather. The park is normally pretty active with the proximity to the lake and marina. The play area for the kids is always busy. Good to see people out enjoying the paved trails of the Oak Leaf Trail as well. My only downside was actually the crowds. People were contesting on the trail which made it difficult to maneuver for cyclists, runners, and walkers alike.

Looking south - fence is just for the south shore frolics

Hosting the weekly (Spring-Summer) Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, this park is a great pilar in the community. This park has one of the best views in Milwaukee overlooking the skyline and the Hoan bridge on top of the beautiful view of Lake Michigan. This park hosts the fireworks, the Frolics, farmer's market, and various events in the different park areas or the pavilion. They recently added the renovation of the Beer Garden that is a great addition with an amazing view. The Oak Leaf trail goes through the park and right past the pavilion - providing a great trail for walking or biking. This park also hosts one of the oldest trees in the area on the north side of the park as you leave the farmer's market.

One of my most favorite places to take pictures of our wonderfully beautiful Lake MichiganAlong with the stopping in and having a great ice cold beer a great time and a great way to get out and see how wonderful our parks and all the nature and beauty that comes along with itGREAT PLACE BY A GREAT LAKE

Another beautiful summer evening at South Shore

This is the life... Beer, games, fire pits, a playground, and a $500k donation from Miller to rebuild the lakefront. Cheers!

I cannot find anything wrong with this park. I walked the Oak Leaf trail here which will lead you to Grant Park (another favorite..about an 8-9mile trek). There are places near the playground to park. Playground is updated and ample. I noticed a sand volleyball court, soccer field, many people biking, running, and walking. Lots of sailboats going by as well. Nice change of scenery with some seemingly private beach areas that are infact, open to the public.

And Lyft drivers love taking a break from their meeting and flagging down the neighborhood ice cream truck!

One of my favorite places to just be :-) (It does get/stay fairly crowded though and the water is not meant for swimming/fishing)

But for my money, the real view here is looking south down the oak leaf trail and out into the lake.

It's been quite some time since we've visited Lake Park, but I absolutely love it here! We were actually kicking ourselves that we don't come here more often to enjoy nature, as it really is beautiful in all seasons. There is no shortage of trails, short or long, that wind through the park and dip down into the ravines. This includes stairs and some rockier walk ways that lead out to the lakefront. If you prefer to stay on the flat road, you can enjoy the well-paved paths by foot or by bike. We had our stroller along and were able to push it throughout. You'll pass by a golf course, the fancy Lake Park Bistro restaurant, lawn bowling greens, statues, and even the infamous Milwaukee light house. Looking forward to the summertime in hopes that the weekly concert series returns to this park, in addition to the traveling beer garden. My son should be walking soon enough, so we'll no doubt return to let him run free and get some fresh air, while we enjoy views of the lake!

A few different vendors were available for food and drinks. I usually enjoy the traveling beer garden here, too! One of the best Milwaukee county parks!
