Humboldt Park is one of Milwaukee's true gems! It's beautiful, large and has many features. The park includes tennis courts, a band shell, a children's playground, several outbuildings and a pond. In the summer the park hosts a beer garden. The pond is quite large and full of fish, frogs, turtles and a myriad of birds including heron. There are many old, large trees that provide a canopy of shade cover in many places when a break from sunshine or rain is needed. I love to walk my dog throughout the park and especially around the pond, she loves all of the smells! Wait, what's the difference between a pond and a lagoon? I dunno. I'm sticking with pond. Yep, it's a pond. *insert big smile*

I love all the parks in Milwaukee. There's practically one every three blocks. One time I was walking and thought I saw a park and looked closer and actually said to myself "Aw, it's just a lousy apartment complex." But I shouldn't have despaired, there was a park a couple blocks away. I could see if I had grown up in Milwaukee and not travelled a lot *possibly* (and even this is a stretch) taking all the parks, all the general parkiness, for granted, but as someone from a land where all the big buildings are steel and glass and where absolutely any asset for the public good will be sacrificed for business development, which is also relatively sadly lacking, I can't get enough. Especially when I see so many of the smaller ones being gradually encroached upon by yet more lousy apartment complexes (especially "luxury" ones.) So I came here for Art in the Park. I saw art. I did some walking. I saw red-winged blackbirds, mallard ducks, and Canada geese. I petted dogs. There's lots of cool dogs. I hung out in the beer garden. I watched kids do handstands on the grass. I extolled the virtues of dandelions, which are not just a weed no matter what my Grandma said. In short, I enjoyed a Saturday, and had my appreciation for parks in general confirmed.

Chill on the Hill - Tuesdays throughout the summer months

This is my favorite park in all of Milwaukee. Why, do you ask? For countless reasons! The property is very-well maintained. Lots of dog walkers all over. The programming and free public events are memorable. There is a lagoon, wading pool, beer/wine garden (with beer AND WINE on tap), tennis courts, baseball diamond and the band shell where the ever-popular, free music series, Chill on the Hill takes place each Tuesday in the summertime. Chill on the Hill is an absolute must. It is the chilliest music in the park venue in Milwaukee - if you ask me. Lots of people come out for this weekday event but there is never an issue with space. We went this past Tuesday (8/17/21) and there were about 3,000 people there. Recommend brining your own chairs/tables/picnic blanket and bug spray. You can bring your own food and drinks and post up for a few hours of live music. Sometimes there are food trucks as well over by the beer garden space. There are indoor restroom facilities by the beer garden and porter John's behind the band shell. There is supposed to be no smoking in the park at least during Chill on the Hill but there are always a few who disregard the "rule". Just an FYI. Mostly happens at the back/top of the hill. An awesome feature of this park is, for those who may just love it as much as I do, you can have a tree planted/dedicated here! Yes, it costs money. It is offered by the Park People. You can learn more about it here: https://parkpeoplemke.org/park-market/trees/

Welcome to Milwaukee parks latest Biergarten park. They finally got the paperwork through and are open for business. Plenty of picnic tables close by the beer trailers. On the grand opening. They offered live music and a free firkin sized keg. Warning don't bring your own glass wear they request a refundable deposit for their own glassware. Cash only for your choice of 4 st Francis beers. The soft drink is a st Francis root beer. The rest rooms are in the main building and they also have 1 porta john outside. I'm sure this will mesh well with the bay view community. We are glad you are here. Just two things. Please add more bike racks and another porta john if you expect a bigger attendance. 68/2014

A few years ago, I walked through Humboldt Park as my mother did when she grew up in this neighbourhood. She lived on Taylor Avenue and walked through here on the way to Bay View High School. It's a big and pretty park, with handsome grounds, a pond to walk along, and a nice Pavilion to rent out for that special event.

Every year growing up we would walk in the Bay View 4th of July Parade. My Grandma and Grandpa Kozy were on the planning committee so it was extra special. I can remember lining up on the neighborhood streets near St. Augustine's.. and marching down to the great finale at Humboldt Park where we would be awarded with those amazing little cups of ice cream with the wooden spoons. The day would go on with all sorts of games for the kids: potato sack races, Frisbee throwing competitions, penny hunting and the like. My sister would always enter in the Doll Buggy Parade/competition... and march across the stage at the Band Shell. Finally, we would end the day with a great show of fireworks shot off near the Lagoon. I can remember sitting on our red, white, and blue blanket with these weird big shiny stars on it. Memories. Humboldt Park. Now when I go back, I'm brought right back to those 4th of July days. In fact walking through the park now I almost feel like I've escaped Milwaukee. The rolling hills, old oak trees... It is one of the best parks in Milwaukee.

The long awaited beer garden in Humboldt Park! Finally here and so so good. This week was their "soft-opening", but their grand opening is Monday, July 7th-- get there if you can and support! The beer garden is located near the pavilion and all of the beer is provided by St. Francis Brewery and given names of the Seven Deadly Sins. For example, their weiss (which was so so good and refreshing, is named Lust) There's about 4 or 5 brews to choose from and all of the ones I tasted were delicious. Standard to beer gardens, they give you the big beautiful glass mugs to drink out of - either .5 liter or full liter. Go big or go home, no? $5 for the half, $10 for the full. But that's a whole lot of good beer right there, so it's well worth it. Plus a small deposit for the glass of $6. They were well staffed and friendly. The park already is getting good business as about all of the picnic tables were filled by about 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. I've loved the Estabrook Beer Garden since it's opened, and I will continue to love it, but I gotta say I really dig the vibe of this Bay View location. They have a couple bags games set up and horseshoes which makes it all the more enjoyable to mingle and hang. Hopefully they will also get the occasional live band to play? A girl can dream. Oh, and I think they stop serving beer nightly at 9 pm. All in all, my boyfriend and I had a great time with another couple drinking good brew, enjoying the sunshine, playing some bags and eating the giant pretzel (ask for the beer cheese sauce too!)

Bavarian pretzel and beer = happiness

This is a nice park. No, a good park. No, a great park. Of all the parks I've been in this is the parkiest park out of all of them! It's got a really nice setup. There's tons of land, great walking paths and lots of places to just hang out and enjoy the halcyon view. It's also the perfect place for a group of twenty-something year olds to get together and play a good old game of capture the flag. You just might have to occasionally pause the game for a dog and it's people to walk through. (But who doesn't like being interrupted by a dog?!) The best part of this park is that there is beer! Beer gardens are the best and Humboldt's is pretty spectacular. There is no better way to end a day (and celebrate your victorious capture the flag win) than eating a Bavarian pretzel and drinking a pint of craft beer. Humboldt park is the best!

It's been quite some time since we've visited Lake Park, but I absolutely love it here! We were actually kicking ourselves that we don't come here more often to enjoy nature, as it really is beautiful in all seasons. There is no shortage of trails, short or long, that wind through the park and dip down into the ravines. This includes stairs and some rockier walk ways that lead out to the lakefront. If you prefer to stay on the flat road, you can enjoy the well-paved paths by foot or by bike. We had our stroller along and were able to push it throughout. You'll pass by a golf course, the fancy Lake Park Bistro restaurant, lawn bowling greens, statues, and even the infamous Milwaukee light house. Looking forward to the summertime in hopes that the weekly concert series returns to this park, in addition to the traveling beer garden. My son should be walking soon enough, so we'll no doubt return to let him run free and get some fresh air, while we enjoy views of the lake!
