The Brown Deer Pond is a chlorinated pond which I learned while we were there swimming. They close the pond for the summer and then offer a few different days and times for dogs to come and swim in the pond. And, my dog Sylvie just loves to swim! There is a modest charge of approximately $5-$10 to attend. The event could use a little more guidance around rules and safety. There were toddlers and children sitting in the sand and playing in the water while dogs were running about, it seemed like it could create a safety concern. If the pond is open for dogs children should not be commingling. Overall, this is a great event for the dogs!

I have also seen several staff members just standing around instead of opening another swim area while they could have. They also have a rule of no non-life guard approved floatation devises- so it must be a life jacket type thing- which is a pain for kids who maybe just like to have a little something on for fun or for a little extra security but don't need a full on life vest. It's also a pain for little babies, who won't be swimming but are easier for mom to hold in the water while sitting in a baby floating tube. I think if the staff was a bit better (not rude, condescending, lazy or too knit picky) the place would be a nice place to go. I wish better luck to others, and maybe they have changed staff/rules by now?

The medical facility gets all the good parking, so expect a little bit of a walk sometimes, to get in here. Getting here in the middle of the night was tricky because there are so many cops patrolling around this area at 3am on a Friday night, and because I guess nobody is usually out at 3 in the morning. Made it quite scary. I got followed on two separate occasions and it wasn't even a very long drive. Sleeping in the parking lot was safe enough and nobody bothered me. Once they opened up I came on in and used the facility. But lots of issues. Wi-Fi is a real problem because it's subterranean. Getting in here was a little bit of a chore. Took a lot longer than it should have and was very frustrating. I actually got quite angry at how long it took. I didn't show my anger because what's the point. I'm just expressing it here so maybe management can have a word with the front desk people and be like, yo, don't hold people up for 25 minutes just to check into a facility just because they're from out of town. Ended up cancelling half my workout because getting past the desk was so laborious and discouraging. And they need to do something about the Wi-Fi. Underground places can have good internet. Sort it out. The facility itself is pretty nice. It reminds me of the one in Evanston Illinois, it's kind of a big room with the weight equipment and cardio out in the round. It has a nice feel to it and I like it - other than the fact that it is indeed subterranean. I guess the only thing that really bothers me more than it being underground, is that a lot of the settings on a lot of the machinese, are not at the Rite Hite for me. Get it. Get it.

They have clothes and snacks for purchase at the front, offer massage, personal training, etc etc. Lots of equipment, lots of room. The facilities are always clean--whether it's the tennis courts, the gym, or the newly added pickleball area. There's also a place to just hang out and have a snack or a drink. Recently, I've been visiting the Mequon and River Glen locations more often. There's a full gym now, a pool, saunas, and really nice locker rooms with all the amenities you could need. The addition of pickleball is a great bonus, and the staff and coaches continue to be friendly, helpful, and fun to learn from. Yes, the membership is on the pricier side, but given the range of amenities and the quality of the facilities, I absolutely think it's worth it if you take advantage of everything they offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our snow tramping hike! (But Dretzka is somewhat devoid of paved trails for hiking so take note). Dretzka IS home to some of the best frisbee golf in the MKE County Parks system- and we saw small squads taking part in the well-documented frisbee golf course. It's also home to a golf golf course, complete with a golf house, so tee up! The remnants of a past toboggan hill is here- and my parents remembered tobogganning down an icy ramp, so take note sledders and xx skiiers if you're looking for a larger hill to schuss down! Acres of snow in the winter, acres of green in the summer- Dretzka is top notch.
