I signed up for a Total Gym class. Yes, like the Total Hym from the infomercials with Chuck Norris

Alright, let's face it...with all the great food us Yelpers eat a gym membership is a must. So I've been going to this Y location on and off for the better part of 30 years(my parents signed me up for swim lessens when I was just a little tike). From a family perspective joining the Y was a great move for my parents. Raising 3 kids on a budget is damn near impossible, especially if you plan on keep said kids entertained. This membership provides affordable swim lessons, a variety of free workout classes, child care, and an Olympic size pool. Literally a day's worth of entertainment for every family. I've tried other gyms and found them pushy and sales driven...no I don't want nor can I afford a personal trainer. About a year ago I actually did approach someone in the fitness center at the Y and inquired on getting a personal trainer. I figured a session or two might get me off the elliptical and into the weight room for a change. When I described what I was looking to achieve they actually referred me to one of their FREE weight lifting classes that was offered with my membership. I feel like the employees really care about people here. When I'm checking in they usually remember me by name and if I forget my card(which I do often) they don't hassle me or give me a hard time about it. My parents have also kept their membership here and go regularly. My mom passed away 2 years ago and one of the employees actually came up to me and asked me why he hadn't seen her in awhile, when I told him she passed he actually started crying and told me how sorry he was. Another employee heard about my mom and actually gave me a hug and confided that he also lost his mother recently. This organization is so much more than just a gym. I grew up here and I'll probably be a member for the rest of my life. It's affordable and the people that work here really care, they aren't there for the money, they are there because they have a passion for fitness and like people.

If you haven't been to this Y in a few years - you won't be able to even find your way around! It was completely renovated since I was a member before 2004. I've been a member now again for about it a year and have a difficult time figuring out how to rate or review. I'll start with the positives: - Great staff - Great programs (free with membership!) - Hassle free "code" lockers (no need to carry a key around) - Plenty of equipment Being a 5:30 gym-goer, they have enough equipment that I've only had to wait a couple of times for a treadmill or elliptical and I've never had to walk away from my class. Don't get me wrong - these classes are packed! But, that just shows that people enjoy the programs. Since the classes are free and you can go anytime, I've broadened my horizons to new things and can't be happier about the body pump class. Okay, the negatives: - It is a gym. It's gross. But for a gross gym, it's okay. They have the wipes available and it is maintained the best they can. - Parking is horrible! If I weren't going to exercise, I would lower my rating just because you have to share a lot with an urgent care hospital and the enormous swim meets. My blood pressure rising from the traffic, people and barricades and the block I have to walk to get in the door is sometimes considered my warm up. I rode my bike there for the first time last week, and hope to make this a habit. - The weight room area always has tons of dudes pumping iron & hanging out, and the stretching area is right next to it. I'll just leave it at that. - Strangers with no locker room etiquette. Gross. Don't sit your naked butt on a stool. That is all. I'm happy with it.

I came in for boot camps, which is excellent, run efficiently, diverse training for cardio and strength, and open gym hours. I had always believed I had little-to-no physical prowess. Words like, "weakling," "delicate," and…read more"lazy" all come to mind. In the past, group exercise classes like yoga and bodypump held my interest briefly, but that interest would wane within a month. I joined Top Line at the urging of a friend, and within two weeks my attitudes toward myself and my abilities changed dramatically. This isn't a fancy gym. There is no upscale locker room, no juice bar, no supplements station, no tanning beds. It's a former warehouse with hardcore equipment, and it's given me the greatest workout of my life. More than that, it's given me greater physical strength than I've ever possessed, and results I still can't believe. I started out with two sessions a week, quickly upped that to three, and then added a strength program soon after. It turns out that there is nothing more addictive than results. Within a month of joining, I started seeing muscle definition. Soon after, my clothing sizes began to drop (I went from a snug ladies' 12 to a loose 6 within a few months). I was sleeping better, had more energy, and people around me started to notice how different I looked. Top Line changed me physically, but it also changed my attitudes and habits. Through meal planning and guidance, my diet has become dramatically healthier. I have become "that girl" who encourages her friends to exercise, who helps others with food choices, and who can recommend a great protein shake... things that still surprise me. While the equipment and programming is top-of-the-line, the real Top Line experience comes from the people. This is a gym where the coaches and your fellow gym-goers work as a team. Everyone encourages and assists. I never feel afraid that I'm doing something incorrectly, or that I'm going to hurt myself, because there is always someone there to assist and guide. It's something I'd never experienced in a gym before, and it's definitely on the list of top ten things that keep me coming back. Top Line isn't just physique-changing. It's life-changing. I started taking tennis lessons there with Scott and have always had a great experience. Over the years, I've watched the club evolve into so much more. The facilities are always clean--whether it's the tennis courts, the gym, or the newly added pickleball area. There's also a place to just hang out and have a snack or a drink. Recently, I've been visiting the Mequon and River Glen locations more often. There's a full gym now, a pool, saunas, and really nice locker rooms with all the amenities you could need. The addition of pickleball is a great bonus, and the staff and coaches continue to be friendly, helpful, and fun to learn from. Yes, the membership is on the pricier side, but given the range of amenities and the quality of the facilities, I absolutely think it's worth it if you take advantage of everything they offer. But when its "every time" a weight makes the slightest noise or person grunts. It becomes a bit irritating. After all this is a "gym". Today 6/8/2023 12:47 pm I called corporate to discuss this issue. But found out, that they are independently owned and I had to contact the owner. And I had to call that location obtain the information. At 12:51 I called the Good Hope location and spoke with the manger, who would not give me her boss's email address, unless I first told her my issue. I did just that, and after a short debate she gave me the email address. I did not get the opportunity to email her boss, before my shift ended and did as usual went directly to the gym. I arrived at about 2:50 pm the manger and another employee greeted me by telling me, that hey had attempted to have me barred from that location, (smiling) but it was upgraded to my membership being canceled. I asked why, and the employee stated, because I had cursed him out a few weeks prior, because he had confronted me about banging weights. (which never happened) He never approached me nor have I ever cursed at him or had a reason to curse at him. I then asked the manger, so the same day I call corporate, and then call you and ask for your boss's information you cancel my membership? She said, Yes, with a slight smile on her face and I left.
