Speed Queen Laundry on Grand Ave. in Chicago looked well organized and like it was typically very clean. It had a convenient location. It was a spacious laundromat with modern machines. I enjoyed their sink with nice water. There were lots of machines, and they were modern. The laundromat had me using an app to operate the machines via my phone. The laundromat had vending machines with snacks and drinks. They had a Customer Care Center with laundry detergent and other items. They said they had free WiFi as well. read more

I was very happy washing my King Size down comforter here. I left happy. The place is huge and I am not a fan of crowded spaces. At 4pm on a Saturday it was not crowded at all. The washing machines were huge and reasonable. It's been forever since I washed outside at the laundromat and I remember paying around 8$ for a huge machine. I paid 11$ for this one. Reasonable. There are bathrooms and vending machines. You can also drop off your comforter and they wash it for you. Ill do that next time. Such a great service. read more

Your experience depends on who is working and what kind of mood they're in that day. The owners need to hire more people, pay them well, and ensure they're not working alone. I usually only see 1 person who is over worked and doing literally everything. They'll push the broom right at you expecting you to move instead of just sweeping around you. Very strange behavior. They'll also close down entire aisles of machines because they don't want to clean them. I can attribute most of this poor behavior to being under staffed. Anyway, it's usually really crowded on the weekends and Tuesdays if they run free wash or dry so avoid those days. They need more car washes and laundromats in this area because they're always overrun with tons of people and ALL their kids and extended family. I don't know they drag the entire family out for laundry and car washes. Very odd. Too much. Stay home. read more

I've been coming here since Grand Opening facilities are clean, and machines are in good. Standing order. Had unfortunate situation where I didn't realize the machine was out of order. They tend to put the signs on the dented Glass, which is hard to see paid with my app. The machine did not start. Spoke with the manager Carmela, and she was very rude and adamant about restarting another machine For Pete sake. We're talking about $4.50 I can't believe it was such a big deal and an honest mistake. I literally spend about $50. Every time that I come to the laundromat to wash my bulky comforter and blankets. Going to definitely think about things twice coming back. I suggested to her that maybe The out of order. Sign needs to be put on top of the machine in front of the Glass. So people can see it. She stated now that it needs to be put on the Glass, which makes no sense to me. Because people aren't looking at the Glass when I'm using the machine until they close it. I truly hope that Customer Service changes because the laundromat. It's very nice. Truly needs to work on Customer Service though. read more

I traveled all the way from Schiller park to belmont area just for speed queen she has thee absolute best facility in all the area... providing a fabulous clean, spacious, warm inviting space. With plenty of supplies that are in great shape available for anyone washing in her building... payment with ease and many options available along with that such as sms notifications of washer almost being done.. drop off available at a great price. Every time I've been there, it's always been clean. There are plenty of machines very very few are broken and not all the time there's always somebody there to help you and the young girl doesn't even speak English, but she uses her phone to help translate so she can help everybody read more

The worst place to go ever. They don't close at 11, but no entry after 9:30. I walked in 9:31. Literally 9:31 He wouldn't let me in because of 1 min. He stayed and argue with me for 10 min. Neither staff speaks English, not ever a little bit. Laundry machines are stinky. A lot of build up of product. This place is always clean inside and out. They take pride in their business. They now have extended weekend hours and the staff is great. I am very picky about where I clean my clothes and this place is the only place I would go. I have to drive a little farther to get to this location but it is worth it. read more

This place has been amazing since it opened up. Unfortunately it's gone downhill. Dryers are bot drying properly. One dry guarantee, yeah that's out the door. Usually needs 3 dries. Oh it get better, be cautious about buying something from the vending machines, if they don't dispense your product or it gets stuck, the staff will not help you in regards to giving you your money back as to what they say they are not responsible for it and they can't place a put of order sign on them per owners request. read more

I think it was an ok experience. I have to say the lady by the name of Nora was a great help for my first time being here. There weee only 2 staff members, both were polite and helpful but Nora went above and beyond to help me. I was not the only person who was there for the first time. If you are not technologically savvy and you are used to coin laundry mats, this is not for you. Also, you are required to have a smart phone to do laundry here. You can use cash, or credit/debit card to add funds to your account. I got $5 for my first time use. I like that upon starting a machine you gave the choice to get a text or email to alert you 3 minutes prior to being done. I think it is a bit pricy but I also think it is a nice laundry mat with plenty of washers of all sizes and many dryers. The dryers are of a very large capability and they do dry well. I was very skeptical of trying Speed Queen due to the reviews, but I am glad I gave it a try! My family & I use their wash, dry, & go service as well as the wash, dry, fold, & go service. It's been a life saver for us! We usually go when they're running specials, too. The specials alternate each week, so either way, we get a good deal. The only thing left to be desired is the option to chose your own detergents & dryer sheets. The staff is friendly & attentive, & the facility seems so clean. i was charged for drying $1.25 three times and 1.50 once. It's supposed to be .50 and .75 cents. I notified the employee at the time. She even checked the price was wrong. She called her owner. All she said to leave my name and number. As of now I have got a call. And it's being promoted on Facebook that drying is .50. I got robbed. read more

I found this place to be great. Staff was friendly and helpful and the facility is large and clean. I like that it's 24 hours, has a big parking lot and wifi with ample tables and chairs to work if you need to. It is on the pricier side but worth to be able to quickly wash 8 loads at once. read more

I had an issue with the dryer I payed twice thinking maybe I didn't pay the first time since my clothes were wet and I went to inform a female that was working there and she said that she would write my info down for a refund which I wasn't asking for one all I wanted was for them to pay a different machine so I can proceed it's never that serious over $1.50 but what got me mad was that this female has the audacity to just walk out her shift which I understand she had to leave but she could have informed other employees instead of just leaving which is so rude and uneducated from her part . Basically these employees have no manners. Telling me I couldn't get a refund because they don't do refunds. Worst customer service ever. If I could give this place zero stars I would. It was such a hassle to do the whole app thing and then somehow my phone connected to the wrong washer after I had loaded the washer, not just with my clothes but also ALL of the soap. I asked the worker for help and she said there was NOTHING that could be done. This is exactly how you will keep your business from growing. I usually go to the blue kangaroo on Diversey and never had any problems there. But for some reason i decided to try this place, just to lose my money. First time washing here. Washers and dryers are big but very very overpriced. You can pay through an app but you can't start the machines through the app which for me it deated the purpose. Only positive thing I noticed, was the huge amount of carts available and they don't have restrictions on how many you can use like bubbleland on Milwaukee and Washtenaw. read more

It's an okay place to wash, but honestly management was really rude, I do under stand last wash is at 9:30pm and laundry closes at 11pm I got here at 9pm exactly other people are still washing, the lady who is in charge said I can wash but I can't fold that I have to be out at 1030pm? I stood till I finish washing and drying, and other people where still folding she told me that next time she won't let me wash, that those are the laundry mat rules, it was my first and last time washing here. The place is clean, and the machines are great - very state of the art. However, the manager is far from professional. She is rude, and I sense is somewhat discriminatory. I asked for a job application for myself, and she was all for it - I am a professional woman. I then took my daughter the next day to ask for an application - a gen Z - and she told her there were no openings. Looks nice but requires the download of an App to use the machines. I am not technologically deficient but do not believe in forcing the public to have an expensive phone and plan in order to wash clothes. Your cash is no good. If you are elderly who does not use apps or choose to have a flip phone or no phone you might as well keep walking because Speed Queen has no use for you as a customer. Seems to me that many people who use laundromats do so because they don't have washing machines or financial resources such as credit cards. Those people need to go elsewhere. Just used the four largest washers at $15.75 each and they didnt release enough water. I called the attendant over to see and she agreed. She told me she would put all 4 washers to wash again once they were done. When they were done i called her over to see that the washed clothes were dry or barely wet and unwashed. She called over another attendant who agreed as well. Even though the washers were 3/4 filled or less and unwashed the manager (Carmela D) refused to reput the 4 machines to rewash. I asked her to please call her and the attendant did and Carmela D offered one machine but that was ALL. I spent almost $64 washing and still have to go somewhere else to pay and wash/dry my clothes. This is so unfair and i cant believe the behavior of this manager after her workers told her what they saw and agreed on my behalf. The sad part theres others having issues too but dont want to complain because like they said they won't do anything about it. read more
