It was hot out, but not like what you'd find in Death Valley. It was more like Indio on a day in August. I decided, most insanely, it would be a good time to update my thermostat so I can control it from my phone. That was a mistake. My previous thermostat didn't have all of the wires connected! I used my trusty Yelp app to send out requests to several HVAC businesses at the same time. I've used this feature many times in the past and it's great! Try it! I was able to find a technician the same day to come out at night and get everything hooked up properly. Speed HVAC save my day... but I had to compensate them appropriately for their expeditiousness. I'm okay with that. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and got the job done right the first time. He even checked out my condensing unit and advised of some concerns for me to keep a look at. IN-EXPERIENCE/ SCAMMER Technician. My HVAC condenser leak water to secondary pipe in the 2nd floor. I called Jimmy Jeon (License: 859495) to diagnosis the issue. He offered free diagnosis. He came on time the next day and took a look. Within 10-15 min, he said that my HVAC is old (10 years old) and it's normal for the leakage even though I told him that the water hasn't come out that pipe before. He said my Freon is running low and it's need refilled. The said total is around $800 for two hvac system but he can give discount to $650. I said too high so he asked how much I want. I said $500 so he said ok. He spent 45 min or work refill the freon and added pvc pipe extension and did some clean up. Later on I did some research, the reason my the condenser leak water to my 2nd pipe is because the primary is clogged. The technician didn't know that. He said why I did not tell him it's the clog problem? Really? I'm not an HVAC expert. To fix the clog, he said it cost $300 but he can give $50 discount so $250 to fix the clog. Thanks but no thanks. Per my research, the clog can be easy fix by just pour vinegar on the pipe and the clog should gone away. Moreover, I do additional research on low freon. Typically, an HVAC has sealed freon. It should never run low freon unless there is a leak. The technician didn't even check whether there is a leak and fix the root of the issue but rather charge me big $$$ to refill. My HVAC was running fine, no issue of less cold so I'm not sure whether he said running low on freon is true or not because me the client doesn't know about HVAC so he can say anything you want. Lesson learned, not hire an HVAC with few review stars. I'm open myself for scam. read more

He tells me he only has Monitor Gauge and not a pump that's seems odddd. All I need is to check lines and add Freon. He didn't know that! Take a look at my request information from the Yelp quote. At that time I knew something was wrong. I ask when can you return and he told me it would be 50 dollars a pound for Freon and to let him know. I texted the amount and his quote was way too much , even more expensive then a large commercial A/C . That's a cleaver way to say no and if I bite that's Cha Ching for him. Mixed review. Jimmy was quick and responsive, but I feel swindled. He came out and repaired a leak in my very old evaporator (outside unit) and offered to refill my Freon (R22) but originally asked for $650 for the ~3 pounds of R22 it would take to fill it. I have since done a little research and found a number of different prices for it, but none of them were near $200/pound. R22 isn't being imported or produced as of 2020 (search EPA R22) so prices are skyrocketing. He insisted that there isn't any alternative to R22, but Bluon makes a replacement, R458A. Newer units use R410. He did good work, but ultimately I'm frustrated by the lie. read more

Our air conditioning stopped blowing cold air during the hottest week of the month and on a Friday. Several air companies closed on the weekend or unavailable. I saw this company was opened on a Sunday and gave them a call at 0800am. Jimmy answered and was able to respond out at 10:30am. He quickly recognized my unit was low on freon and my main unit was leaking air. He quickly resolved my issue by replacing Freon and sealing up the leaks. Comes out for a free estimate and starts working without telling me (homeowner) exactly what he is doing and what he is charging me for. Ask him to leave after paying him the "travel fee" even though he claims free estimate, he threw my money on the ground and leaves cause I didn't pay the $600 he came up with in his head. I noticed some water inside the wall under A/C due to a slow leak. He responded quickly and was able to come out quickly. He was nice and explained the situation. He was supposed to provide a free estimate, but did the work without approval or advising the cost. I did not like that because I had already said I wanted to know how much because I may just renew my home warranty. He cleared the tray that was full of rust pretty quickly and it was around $250 for about an hour, almost the same as my warranty for a year that wouldve covered it (which he thought it wouldnt). Plus he wanted to do maintenance on my AC. The work was good because I dont believe there have been any more leaks since he repaired a couple months ago, but I dont like how he got my business. read more

My tenants furnace Broke down and my contractor recommended his friends company. His friend sent this guy named Rico to take a look at the furnace. (Goodman furnace only 6 years old). Rico went out and said the motherboard is fried and took the board with him and had it for 2 weeks asking me if he could order the new part for me. He said he could go back and put a new one in and the labor alone would be about $800. I thought that was odd so I called a few other places. Everyone I spoke to confirmed that it was shady of Rico. I called and told him to bring the motherboard back and put everything back the way it was. Once he sensed that I was not going to pay him $800 and get a second opinion, his diagnosis changed and he said it might be the "limit switch" now and not the motherboard after all. After Rico put every back I called Speed HVAC and Jimmy told me he would be there in 2 hours to give me a free estimate and diagnose. (Same day!!). Jimmy fully tested the motherboard on site, found and replaced a faulty sensor and switch and the furnace was humming like new within 20 minutes.
