Also I know this person only gives referrals, when we'll deserved. Prior to going to Pete's, I had a bad experience with a local business, mechanic and tire shop in the area (North Ave & Harlem). Went for an oil change, tire rotation and once over before putting my vehicle on the road in late June. Was told my radiator had a leak and it would be expensive to repair. Weeks prior, my husband vehicle had been leaking fluids on the garage floor, so i purchased two silver large cookie sheets from a auto mechanic store, to catch liquid and keep from staining the floor, put one under each vehicle. His vehicle did continue to leak and stain the pan, but my mine was clean nothing, and still looking new after several weeks. I explained this to the very polite and professional desk personnel. He insisted there was a leak. I'm panicking because I was unsure if we should put the vehicle on the road. But we did, stopping along the way to check the radiator fluids several times, never did the fluids go low even to today, That was in late June and here we are in mid October. When I took the vehicle to Pete's for brakes had him check the radiator for any leaks or abnormalities. Me Pete stated, there was no leaks and he looked fine, which saved me around 1700.00. I have ventured out to others when I desperately needed service and my preferred couldn't get me in, and was always screwed over. The typical you "need" this, this, and this done to your car which led me to have a really poor experience with anything that needed to be done to my car - which had 200k miles on it, and made the process dreadful. Long story short, my boyfriend needed a routine oil change, tire rotation, and wanted to get a full inspection on the car since his just hit 100k miles. The car was also showing that he needed a new timing belt (something that pops up automatically when the car hits 100k, and has yet to be replaced) and we were supposed to be making a long drive the next day for a wedding. I decided to take the car since he had to work. I get to the shop and am immediately warmly welcomed by a nice smile and friendly hello from a man named Tyler. I told Tyler exactly what I wanted and didn't want anything else done besides what I said. I also told him that we ideally wanted to wait on the timing belt seeing as we had to leave for a long trip (I had my fingers crossed on this one since). He checked everything, and came to the waiting room to tell me I can make it there and back before the timing belt needs to be replaced, but that it should be replaced soon. THIS was what I wanted to hear. He also told me I needed new filters (I already knew this, oops), and too the time to show me how gross mine were, so I ended up getting new ones. He ended up giving me a little discount too, and explained, "we just try to do a little something for everyone". Amazing! After driving the car home, it has a completely different (but good) feel to it. Maybe it's in my head, but it truly does feel like it was taken care of properly. I have NEVER had this good of service from a mechanic in my life. Our Planet Automotive will be our new mechanic, and I'm so happy with the time Tyler spent with me on this. I can be a tough critic, but this process was pain-free and easy. Thank you, Tyler, and the guys at Our Planet! :-)

I got these answers: Longevity: For an older car like a 2007 Mazda 5, using a budget part might be acceptable if you don't plan on keeping it for many more years. But if you were hoping for a repair that would last a long time, the Duralast brand, combined with the high cost, is disappointing. The Mark-up: The core issue is the very high markup on an entry-level part. For a total price of $1,042, it is reasonable to expect a higher-quality part brand. So the conclusion is get your written price quotes before you commit. I got mine via phone conversation only and they never sent me one via email or text as they promised. And the service lasted for 3 days!! (Thursday, Sep 18th to Saturday, Sep 20th end of day at 6PM).

I handed off my keys and was on my merry way, doing my Saturday things (unfortunately, work). 3 hours passed, and I still hadn't heard from them. Another hour... so I call them. He said they had my car long done (but how was I supposed to know??) So I headed back and the checkout process was seamless. I am new to the area, so I brought in the $20 movers special. I ended up choosing synthetic oil, which is what I usually put in my car anyways. The total came to be ~$75, which is basically equivalent to what I normally pay without a coupon/special. Very nice people and did the job, but didn't see the point of the coupon!
