Service for my 2007 Mazda 5 front right destroyed tire replacement ended up a very pricey cost. The service included replacement of 2 front tires (brand: Hancock) and strongly suggested replacement of 2 front struts (brand: Duralast) by the mechanic. Costed total of $1552!! When I checked on Google Gemini (quoted following) if the price is fair or not? I got these answers: Longevity: For an older car like a 2007 Mazda 5, using a budget part might be acceptable if you don't plan on keeping it for many more years. But if you were hoping for a repair that would last a long time, the Duralast brand, combined with the high cost, is disappointing. The Mark-up: The core issue is the very high markup on an entry-level part. For a total price of $1,042, it is reasonable to expect a higher-quality part brand. So the conclusion is get your written price quotes before you commit. I got mine via phone conversation only and they never sent me one via email or text as they promised. And the service lasted for 3 days!! (Thursday, Sep 18th to Saturday, Sep 20th end of day at 6PM). read more

Went because i had a nail in my tire the manager there call me the next day (i put my spare on) because my rim cover was missing and they needed it for the tire. i placed the rim where my spare used to be i know for a fact because i put my tools on top of it. they stated they didn't see it and it was missing. i had to pay an additional 100$ for the cover. never going back there again. read more

Was not a good experience here. I brought my car in for a routine repair; was told they would contact my car's warranty company to file a claim but instead they compiled a long list of other recommended repairs. After hours went by without any contact from them, I complained about the delay. Firestone eventually made the repairs, but the way they handled this transaction was certainly poorly done. read more

Absolutely horrible experience yet again. everyone is incompetent and have no clue what they are doing. I changed my headlight but it wasn't working so I took it in and asked to have the fuses checked. The mechanic called and told me the bulb is burnt. I opened the hood of my car to change the bulb and there were wires dangling. I called the store, told them there were exposed wires that were not like that when I took it in. Whoever answered said there aren't any fuses in a headlight... one of the wires says fuse on the end. the manager got on the phone and told me if I brought it in I'd be charged $150 for a diagnostic. I disagreed that I don't need one when the wires are hanging there. We were just going back and forth, he was condescending and kept pandering then started talking about house renovations and drywall. Made absolutely no sense. This is not the first time they have completely ignored the purpose of the visit especially since I'm a woman. read more

I have bought tires here in previous years and just recently bought 4 new tires for my SUV. I have had the best experience every time and especially this past month. I live in Oak Park very close so it is ideal for me to do business here in town. Miguel, Alejandro, Kevin and every other person I have come in contact over the phone and in person was helpful, accommodating, pleasant, and thorough. TL;DR Requested tire rotation. Noticed tire rotation was not done due to a scraped rim still in the same wheel position. Requested a refund and insanity ensued. Full Story: I drive an expensive car and did not feel it was necessary to pay expensive cost for a simple tire rotation. Firestone was recommended by someone I know, who will also not be going back after my story. I had an appointment scheduled, which should have taken a few minutes to complete. It should have honestly taken more time driving the car on/off the lift and processing paperwork than doing the tire rotation. After waiting an hour and a half for them to complete this process I noticed the driver put handprints on the driver side and passenger seats. The seats are white so you can clearly see it. This guy then goes and grabs some wet wipes and proceeds to just smear it around on the seat. I let it slide because I planned on getting the car hand washed and that was that. Then I noticed a rim that I scrapped bad still on the same location (passenger rear). I know this because that memory is burned into my brain on how it happened. I call this location a few days later and just request a refund. I didn't even want them to try and complete this tire rotation after the horrible service I had already received. I get there and speak with Miguel, the "manager", and he starts arguing with me about how his tech claimed he did it and that the front passenger rim also has a scrape. The difference is literally night and day. The scrape on the passenger rear is literally covering 1/2 of the rim. The one on the front is a little tiny scrape. This kept going back and forth and then some tech came out just to say, "I seen him do it". Obviously not! Miguel also claimed that this tech somehow watched me, watch him lift the car up and complete the job. It was hot outside... and its just a tire rotation. There is no way I would sit and watch another grown man swap some tires around with the majesty of someone rebuilding a 1967 Dodge Charger engine. I went to a café across the street for about an hour and then came back into their waiting area and watched TV. So more lies from this tech. It doesn't help that Miguel seemed utterly useless in that role. This isn't a gang or a sports team. You want to defend your employee, great. Hear me out and make your evaluation after I leave. I ultimately demanded a refund and just went to the car's official service center, happily paid triple the price for the rotation and with NO APPOINTMENT, in and out within 20 minutes. The old adage proves true again, "You get what you pay for." Needless to say, I will never be returning to Firestone for any work on my car and my family/friends will do the same. read more

We had a terrible experience with this location. Our first and last. On November 26,18 we called to see if they were able to take in my car for new tires & installation. It was a freezing snowy day so we made it a point to check in first to see if it was possible. They said yes it would take a few hours. Great. I drop off the car, and at this time I'm being quoted a different time range- fine. I could clearly see they were busy. Left there at 11:30 they said the car would be ready at 4pm. At 4:30 I called to check in they said they haven't gotten to it yet. They would have it ready by closing (7pm) said okay. At 6:30 I receive a call and they immediately started bombarding me with questions. "Did I buy the car new or used, were the tires ever rotated, etc" I proceeded to answer. I did buy the car new. The tires have been rotated, why?! They were calling me to tell me they couldn't get one of the tires off... it would be additional labor cost now, they could try to torch it off but weren't allowed to use that equipment that late and the car would not be ready until the following day. If the piece Broke off it would be additional charges as well. At this point it's so late, so we asked to pick up the car and return the next day for them to finish the job. Once we got there and we looked at the tire it was very clear that they stripped it. This has nothing to do with rotating or new/old. In the years I owned the car there was never any issues with any of the tires. To make matters worse when they gave us the forth tire it was the completely wrong size. When we mentioned it all we received was a "that's odd- that's not possible, due to serial number " clearly and VISUALLY it was not the same size as the others. Our entire interaction with this establishment has been stressful and frustrating. We paid for a job that was never finished. I went online and wrote a review via their website, I received a response from Steven B on 11/29 he mentioned they will pass on the message to management (requested my contact info and invoice number) and I never received any correspondence after that. The lack of customer service we have experienced with this company is disappointing. I am writing this review now as we are still experiencing tire issues due to the terrible job that was provided by this establishment. Today, I have found out that they also never sealed the Tires. This half done job ended up costing us much more, since we have had to pay to fix all the mistakes that this company did. Not sure why this branch of Firestone isn't rated higher, but I have had great experiences with them. I have had two oil changes with them so far, and I always use the $10 off coupon that is available for download (and texted to your phone), which ends up as a total of $33 for an oil change that includes replacing the oil filter. Which is a pretty sweet deal! The first time, I asked them to help me resolve my frozen windshield wiper fluid and they drained my wiper fluid and refilled it at no cost. The second visit, they discovered that one of my brake lights were out, and that cost $15 to replace. All in all, I have seen very thorough and detail-oriented work. This place does get busy, so I would recommend booking an appointment, the earlier in the day the better. I waited a total of 2 hours for my oil change and brake light replacement from start to finish recently, but their interior lounge is pretty comfy, with free coffee and a tv with the news playing. read more

I was warned about them before I got there. The mechanic I usually used said, "Get tires from them. They'll try to sell you other services, but we'll do it better an cheaper." But I wasn't worried - all they needed to do was fix the spare on the back of the car and fix the passenger side front tire. I wrote a note to them to that effect. I spoke on the phone to them twice making sure they understood. But when I got the car back they put new tires on the front passenger and driver's side and left the torn spare alone. I called three times on separate days asking what they would do to make it up to me. First day, I was on hold for 20 minutes. Second day, they didn't answer the phone with my cell, so I called from another number - I was told a manager would get back to me. Third day, they said, "Oh...the manager didn't call yet? He definitely will today." No response. Ever. I took it to Costco. They did a great job, in less time and for less money. I don't mind that they made the mistake. Sadly my last attempt at doing business here. I went to get four new tires because I had good experience with the specific tire they offer and although mine were still with life they were 6 years old and not great in snow. Took three additional visits to get them "balanced" - so they didn't wobble at 50+ mph. they kept telling me they were balanced "this time" and they weren't. 3rd time it's "ok". But I'm not going back. Will take it to my other tire shop - eat some crow and ask them to rectify the work. Not sure what's up with this place it's super busy - one of the managers is personable and seems to care but it stops there. Seems like they are short on mechanics or maybe experienced ones. They then told me it would be a week or so to get them, so I went elsewhere to buy tires. Second time I asked them to either repair the leak in a tire or replace it(I even gave them the replacement). I ran into a little situation with my tires and he was and the phone talking with customer service making it happen, alllwing me to purchase my tires and ride off with new shoes on my car! Careless Work: I purchased four new tires from Oak Park Firestone. After driving 40 miles on these new tires TWO of them went flat on the freeway at the same time(front passenger and rear driver). When I brought the car back to Firestone they informed me that the installation was done wrong. Furthermore, one of the guys took me in the back and explained to me that were not sealed the correct way and explained to me what they had done wrong satur. I would not go to this Firestone for any kind of service. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well as the Attorney General's Office. Do not trust this neighborhood Firestone with the safety of you and your family. Three days later: my tire has gone flat on the expressway again. No puncture no self caused damage. My tire had picked up a screw and I wasnt sure there was any shops left open in the area since it was later in the day not only did they take me in they patched my tire up and got me back on the road they checked and topped off my other tires with air they informed my other tires were getting a little low in tread and filled my washer fluid alot of good treatment just for fixing a flat I highly recommend these guys and when it's time to replace these tires I'll be going back thanks guys glad to have a trust worthy shop in the neighborhood. read more

Couple months back I went here for a break service on my lady's vehicle. Everything seemed to be done correctly and then one day after they started making noises as if they were bare again. Called and took it in. Manager was very nice and helpful said no problem let us take a look and he'd give me a call back. When he called he said they were fine and so I came by and asked to see them. He kept insisting the front brakes were fine (showing me) and even tho I took them in for the backs making noise. He had those off too and compared. There were a noticeable difference to me. But he has "25 years experience" obviously knows more than everyone right... regardless he changes them and the sounds were gone. This was my first crap experience with him. Maybe a couple weeks later I come back to do my oil/inspection/tire roto/ and I asked to change my wiper blades. After seeing my statement I noticed that he charged me $79.99 for each wiper blade. I called obviously because it didn't seem right since wipers are $39.99 which I confirmed with another Firestone location. I called him back and he acted goofy on the phone and just read my statement to me. I don't believe that's the correct charge and I'm honestly kind of pissed because who knows what else he's trying to jip people off with. Probably not the first. read more

Also, I told them my car might need alignment since it was pulling slightly right. They checked and told me my alignment was fine but the wear pattern on the old tires was causing the pulling. Well 2 days later, I go to my scheduled 5pm appointment and wouldn't you know....they don't have the balance equipment to put my tires on!! They informed me of this at 630pm! We have been getting our car's regular oil changes here for about a year. It is really close to us and they are quick and thorough. I wouldn't normally pursue writing a review on an automotive shop... until 2 weeks ago when it was -20 and the car wouldn't start. We walked over and told these guys what the car was doing. They let us borrow their battery charger to try and start it. Didn't work. Then the manager SENT ONE OF HIS TECHS walking with us (1 block) to where the car was parked. He got it started right away, and we drove over for diagnosis and repairs. Seemingly VERY friendly and helpful manager and staff. So we needed a new battery, alternator, and were due for an oil change. Total costs: roughly $700 I just did some research online and we were DEFINITELY ripped off on the part and labor cost of the alternator. read more

Not again. Dropped off my car this morning at 8am for an appointment I made the day before. Just a simple oil change and tire rotation. I came back 9 hours later and it hadn't been touched. I even called earlier in the day and was told "they are just about to bring it in." That was obviously a lie. Also, they charge over $70 (with coupon) for a full synthetic oil change. As someone who has been getting full synthetic oil changes for almost 10 years, that's ridiculous. I wish I talked to my neighbors first, as I just found out they've had even worse experiences. AWFUL SERVICE - BEWARE THIS LOCATION! 3 very bad experiences in 1 month. They do careless, slow work. (Full description below.) Go to the Firestone in Franklin Park for better, faster service. Twice they had to fix the problems that Firestone in Oak Park caused, without an appointment, same day. Oak Park Firestone is ALWAYS too busy to take good care of your car. I'm not sure why, maybe the local residents assume that because it is a business within our wonderful village, it will be high quality? WRONG. They take forever to look your vehicle, their mechanics are either lazy or incompetent (both?), and the guy who answers the phone, while nice and friendly, will BS you about your car's status. Experience #1: The heat stopped working in my car. Brought it in Friday afternoon, with an appointment set up online. I told them that I needed my car back by Sunday end of day so I could get to work Monday. If they couldn't guarantee this, don't take the job. They said they could do that, and would call and update me on the status. All day Saturday I got no updates. Every time I called they said they were draining the coolant so they could replace it. "Should be done today (Saturday)." Didn't happen. Well, Sunday came, and it was the same response all day. It doesn't take that long to drain coolant. C'mon, just say you haven't gotten to it and stop lying to me. In fact, they did not call me until 30 minutes before the place closed on Sunday to come get my car, and only because I called repeatedly and let them know I absolutely needed my car for work. Guess what - I started my car and yeah, the heat worked, but the POWER STEERING didn't work! Popped the hood and the fluid was down below the minimum required level! Called a mechanic over and he filled it, of course taking no responsibility. Said I might have a leak. 10 years I've never had a power steering fluid leak, you take my car one weekend and the fluid is drained? That's my fault... riiiiight. Oh and how did you not notice that the power steering is not working when you pulled it out to the parking lot??? 2nd Experience, the following week: My car wouldn't start, though the battery was practically new. I figured it was the starter. Had it towed in, then got the similar 2-day runaround over the phone. Sure enough I needed a new starter. When I got the car back, it started, but made a variety of unpleasant sounds. Then that whole week it would take several attempts to start, and would make odd sounds every time. Finally took it to another Firestone, they said it was a defective starter! Really?! Did you even test it before deciding you were done? 3rd Experience, the following week: My wife's car battery died. Firestone replaced the battery. The next week she goes to get an emissions test and FAILS. Why? Because the Firestone mechanic yanked out a wire to the diagnostic system and failed to replace it. So again we have to go to another Firestone (Franklin Park) to get this simple fix, then head all the way back to the emissions test. My wife and I are both filing complaints to the HR department. This is shameful. BEWARE! Note to Firestone: I see you like to respond to negative reviews here. Please don't bother on mine. There is absolutely nothing you can do to convince us to ever step foot in your business again (unless you have a complete turnover of mechanics and management). read more

For the past four years I have been taking my cars to Firestone, but usually just for tires (and tire-related issues) and oil changes (with two exceptions, see below). The service has been fantastic every time. For the past year I've been dealing with a customer service rep by the name of "Jesus," who seems like a straight shooter. Twice in the past month I've gotten flat tires (two different tires, one from nails, the other from a piece of copper wire). On both occasions they fixed the flats and put them back on the car, and promptly returned the "donut" spare to its holding place, AND equalized pressure on all four tires -- and they did this FREE of charge. Jesus told me that for as long as I own the tires, they will fix them and guarantee the flat-fixes for life. He also gave me a free lifetime tire rotation deal, just because I'm loyal. Two months ago, I got quotes from a few places on the standard 60K mile service. It runs about $800 for my car .... Firestone gave me a very competitive quote, and so I went with them. They called a few hours later and told me that I needed new brakes (I already knew this). But he told me that I did NOT need new rotors. That in itself is a good sign, as many places will try to sell you rotors that you don't need. I called around again and found that indeed they had quoted me a good price on the brake job. So I gave the green light on that too. They did a nice job with everything and even cleaned the interior of the car for me. So I intend to continue patronizing Firestone, mostly for the routine maintenance stuff. I have a 1991 Saab for a second car, and I wouldn't take it to Firestone. When I've tried to get basic things done there, they charge me just to look at it ($60 just to remove the parking brake console, which I can do in 5 mins. to see what's wrong with the brake handle). Plus, I'd have to take the Saab into the shop on a day when their "lead tech" is working; apparently, he's the only one who knows how to deal with a Saab. That's kind of unsettling given how easy it is to work on an old Saab. So my review is A-OK for the basics. But I wouldn't give them any really hard jobs to do, or entrust them with my Saab's repairs. --greg read more

I received a call an hour later from a gentleman named Steve who nicely & patiently explained all my needed repairs with associated costs. Had my car up and running before the days end! I stopped by, out of convenience, for a late oil change Christmas week. Anthony was able to provide an accurate estimate and time frame for the work (5L full-synthetic oil change, filters, tire rotation, maintenance 2, ect.). When I picked up my car, included with the bill was a quote for my next scheduled maintenance package & brake work. The pricing was better than expected, and the parts selected were quality. I dropped the car off around 9:30 and Anthony said they would be done by 3:00; the car was ready around 1:30. So that's 2 for 2 on busy days end of December. I will be back for my next oil change. Maybe even sign up for the firestone card. The only complaint I have about this place is the location of the water fountain. Stop inside and you'll see what I mean. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more stars. This is my go-to auto care place. I feel like the workers are very honest and don't try to scam me. I've gone multiple times for oil changes, have gotten my tires from here, even went here when I was driving for Uber. I do recommended making an appointment for whatever you need because they always seem to be busy, but with an appointment everything is very fast and professional. There is a worker there named Miguel that I think is my favorite person to work with. He's always very helpful. read more
