It was some kind of behavioral therapy. It was not helpful. Additionally, when we requested that they provide our child's "Speech, Sound, and Language Evaluation," so we could take that to another therapist, they were unable to provide this despite having charged Kaiser hundreds of dollars for it.

Janene and Karen were always professional and immediately addressed any questions or concerns I had. I was extremely satisfied with the company as a whole and with Karen's therapy services. My child always looked forward to karen's sessions. I like how they can come to your home, daycare, or provide virtual sessions. Karen provided written summaries of each session and activities/goals to work on at home. The only reason we stopped services was because we moved to a different state- otherwise we'd still be using them! Monica gave him a thorough evaluation, and afterwards, clearly explained everything she put into her written eval, and patiently answered all our questions. He's now seeing a SLP and an OT at The Speech Space, and is making wonderful progress, being able to communicate with signs as he's working on being able to speak. He's working with Maggie for speech, and Carly for OT, and loves to see them every time.

I happened to stumble onto Patti through Facebook after pursuing a fruitless search with my insurance to find a speech therapist for my son. He speaks well but has a "tight tongue" and we are actively working to make sure that we get it to be more fluid. Patti is friendly, personable and loves kids. Sounds like a win-win-win for us. Our son started at Playworks for speech therapy while we were in the middle of of doing neuropsych…read moretesting. The testing showed our son has mild dyslexia and struggles with writing. He struggled with the physical act of writing and as a consequence, found it difficult to produce cogent sentences. The doctor who performed our neuropsych assured us that Playworks could assist him in overcoming these challenges as well. After a few months of intensive work with his therapist at Playworks, our son's teachers have noticed dramatic improvement. He is now reading and writing at a grade appropriate level and his pronunciations have also improved. While we originally sent him to Playworks to help with his speech they have proven to have a wide skill set and the ability to work with issues that are tangential to speech issues.

My son has been a client at ABC Kids for almost two years now and we cannot praise them enough. My…read moreson was practically nonverbal and Marni has patiently & diligently worked with him, and he's developed by leaps and bounds. Marni was one of the few PROMPT trained therapists in the area and the back office at ABC kids has always been efficient and professional (they do all the insurance paperwork and bill you for the deductible, they have even been helpful in keeping me up to date on how many more sessions were left in the year per our insurance allotment). We have seen other therapists at the practice in the past, and all are skilled and great with kids. When COVID hit, they didn't skip a beat and we switched to virtual. Marni went above and beyond finding new games to play virtually with our young son to keep him engaged (she went so far as to put up a green screen in her own home!). Once things calmed a bit (a full year later), we started back in person and they have been excellent at Covid protocols (therapists are vaccinated and wear masks and/or shields, they stagger appointments so we don't cross paths with others, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer galore- I noticed the other day Marni sanitized her hands before and after touching my son's face to help him form a sound). We cannot recommend ABC Kids enough! They have been instrumental in the development of our sweet boy.

That is a huge plus with me because it makes scheduling and keeping track of everything online. My first appointment was about two years ago. I really enjoyed the beautiful decor, soothing tropical sunset color palette set up similar to a spa. Every time I have had an appointment here everything went very smoothly, I was always treated with with respect and kindness. I am grateful to always be able to access the online portal for notes from each visit. If something is needed such as labs, the directions and referral was provided.

He enjoys coming twice a week for his appointments and we appreciate the fact that they accept Tricare. The therapists are top notch and great at working with parents on a plan. Our OT/Feeding therapist, Kavita, has helped my son tremendously. Within a couple of months, she has helped him overcome food aversions and try many foods and flavors for the first time (rice, beef, sauces, etc). It's so exciting to see wanting to try foods for the first time and overcoming many texture issues (mixing foods, coconut, almonds).
